Afghanistan
Afghanistan Taliban kill 10 in Ghazni government compound
[BBC] Talibs have attacked an Afghan government compound in the eastern town of Ghazni killing at least 10 people, officials say.

Eight security personnel and two civilians were among the dead, police say, with all 19 attackers also killed.

Gunmen detonated two truck bombs as they blasted their way in to attack police and intelligence offices.

More than 160 people were maimed and buildings, including the town's museum, were badly damaged.

The BBC's Bilal Sarwary in Kabul says Taliban snuffies are in control or active in many parts of Ghazni province, which acts as a gateway from the south and south-east to the capital, Kabul.

Coordinated attack
At least 164 injured civilians were taken to several hospitals in the region, including one government hospital, local doctors have told the BBC.

Many of the casualties were said to have been maimed by broken glass.

Missile attacks west of Tripoli block route to Tunisia
[Libya Herald] Roads from Tripoli

bombarded positions in the Washefana area ahead of an anticipated push by Zintani forces back into the capital.

The Zintanis have said they intend to return to Tripoli because, they allege, the Misratans reneged on a deal under which both would withdraw from Tripoli.

The main coastal road next to the site of Camp 27, which was heavily fought over last month between Warshefana and Libya Dawn forces, had already been dug up by the former, forcing travellers to make major detours. The detours depend on the identity of the travellers. Residents of Zawia have been forced to make a massive 100-kilometre detour around the Warshfana area when heading to Tripoli although they (but not their military leaders) were reported to be allowed to drive through Azziziya, a Washefana stronghold.

However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
that road yesterday is now reported to be too dangerous to travel on.

There has been an irregular barrage of missiles said to be from the Janzour Fursan Brigade and Libya Shield West hitting the Warshefana area over the past two days. Early yesterday morning, four people -- a father and his sons plus a neighbour were reported killed when a missile hit Enjila, south of Janzour. His wife and other children were seriously injured.

Missiles continued to land today in west Janzour as well as in Zahra, Maamoura and other the Washefana towns. There are reports injuries and deaths but no official figures. Warshefana families have been trying to leave for safety but say they have no where to go -- that they dare not head to Zawia or Tripoli because they will be jugged
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
.

Heavy festivities were also reported at the Camp 27 site today between forces from Zawia, the Janzour Forsan and Libya Shield West on one side and, on the other, the newly launched "tribal army" said to consist of forces from the Warshefana, Zintan, Tarhouna and Jadu, among others.

Near Gharian, too, there was said to be fighting between forces from Gharian and Zintan.

Ambassador to Turkey remains in place but relations with Ankara take another knock
[Libya Herald] The Libyan Ambassador in Cairo, Abdul-Aziz Jibril, has denied saying that the Libyan Ambassador to Turkey has been recalled.

He told the Libya Herald that reports quoting him as saying that Ambassador Abdulrazak Abdulqader had been recalled from Ankara because of a row between the House of Representatives and Turkey were false. He added that he was frustrated with the media for making the claims. Abdulqader was still in Turkey, he said.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Kinnison began his slow infiltration of the sewer system...
however, businessmen in Tobruk have said they will boycott Turkish goods over the spat.

The hostilities were prompted by comments from Turkish President Recep Erdogan on Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...

.

On Monday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it was "surprised" by what it had perceived as the "blatant interference in Libyan internal affairs". It called on Erdogan to clarify his statements noting that he had congratulated the newly-elected House of Representatives after it held its first session in Tobruk in August.

The Turkish government is widely viewed in Libya as supporting the Libyan Moslem Brotherhood since the revolution, alongside Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates...
. Libyan Moslem Brotherhood figures are known to visit Turkey regularly for meetings and use it as a safe haven.

The significance of Libya within the context of the region's ideological fault-lines came to the fore last month when it emerged that the UAE and Egypt, both bitterly opposed to the brotherhood, had collaborated to bomb positions in Tripoli held by gangs sympathetic to the Islamist movement.

The Tobruk-based Operation Dignity, which has offered protection to the House of Representatives, has been seen to have the backing of both Egypt and the UAE.

Last week Emirati authorities rounded up at least 30 Libyan nationals believed to have ties to the Moslem Brotherhood and Libya Dawn.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
DEVELOPING: Estonian Counterintelligence Officer Abducted to Russia at Gunpoint
According to the Internal Security Service (ISS), Estonia's national agency for counterintelligence and high-profile corruption investigations, one of their officials was abducted at gunpoint at Luhamaa border checkpoint this morning where he was discharging service duties, and taken to Russia.
Initially there was little indication it was necessarily more than an isolated criminal incident, but within several hours it had developed into a diplomatic row, with the Estonian and Russian intelligence agencies advancing cardinally opposite versions of the events.

The report of the abduction broke around 16:00, seven hours after it happened. At about 19:00, the FSB, the Russian security agency, was first to mention the name of the agent, Eston Kohver, which was later confirmed by the ISS. That was the only detail consistent in the versions, with the Russians putting forward a claim that Kohver was captured on the Russian side. However, Russian border guards said earlier in the day they had no knowledge of the incident.

The incident occurred at about 9:00 on the Estonian side of the border and was preceded by jamming of communications and use of a smoke grenade, the ISS said; the interference was said to originate from the Russia side.

The ISS said the official was in the process of interdiction of a cross-border crime.

The area is in VÅ‘ru County, by Russian border post #121. The border lacks major fortifications; the area is thinly populated.

The whereabouts of the official were not known at first. Martin Arpo, deputy director of the ISS, told Delfi later in the evening that the official was alive and well and in the hands of the FSB.

There was no immediate explanation on the late disclosure of the incident - more than six hours after it occurred - which comes during a period of more tense relations with Russia.

Four policemen wounded in bomb attack
[DAWN] KARACHI: Four policemen were wounded when attackers threw an improvised explosive device (IED) at a police post at Nursery on Sharea Faisal on Wednesday morning, police said.

They added that suspects riding a motorbike threw a bomb, which exploded inside the police post, causing injuries to the policemen.

The wounded policemen were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment where their condition was 'stable', said Dr Seemin Jamali, head of the emergency department.

The policemen were identified as Maqsood Ahmed, 35, Nasir Farooq, 38, Abdul Saleem, 30, and Mahiwal Nazar.

The bomb attack on the police post was part of attacks on the police in the metropolis, said Ferozabad SHO Mazhar Mashwani.

It was a kilogram bomb attached to a time device, added the officer.

Jamatul Ahrar TTP splinter claims 70-80 percent of turbans
[DAWN] The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) led by Mullah Fazlullah
...son-in-law of holy man Sufi Mohammad. Known as Mullah FM, Fazlullah had the habit of grabbing his FM mike when the mood struck him and bellowing forth sermons. Sufi suckered the Pak govt into imposing Shariah on the Swat Valley and then stepped aside whilst Fazlullah and his Talibs imposed a reign of terror on the populace like they hadn't seen before, at least not for a thousand years or so. For some reason the Pak intel services were never able to locate his transmitter, much less bomb it. After ruling the place like a conquered province for a year or so, Fazlullah's Talibs began gobbling up more territory as they pushed toward Islamabad, at which point as a matter of self-preservation the Mighty Pak Army threw them out and chased them into Afghanistan...
appear to have suffered a serious blow as the newly formed splinter group Jamatul Ahrar claims that it has the support of 70 to 80 per cent of TTP commanders and fighters. The group says they are not under TTP's command any more.

Speaking to Dawn, Ehsanullah Ehsan
...formerly the front man for the Pak Taliban, now the lips and tongue of the Jamaatul Ahrar splinter group in Mohmand Agency...
, the spokesperson for the new group Jamatul Ahrar, claimed that they were administratively a separate group now. Responding to a query if they would follow the orders of the TTP Ameer, he said: "We, Jamatul Ahrar, have been administratively separated from them now."

When questioned further about the control exercised by the Mullah Fazlullah-led Taliban, Ehsan said: "I'll not comment on this question, however, I can claim about 70 to 80 per cent of the TTP, including Swat, is now part of TTP Jamatul Ahrar".

'Pakistain first'

The Jamatul Ahrar spokesperson added that the group was focused on the implementation of Shariah globally, but as a starting point, "Pakistain is our first preference". He was responding to a question on whether the group would focus attacks on US/NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all....
forces in Afghanistan.

The newly formed group claimed its first attack on the Khasadar force in Jamrud which left three personnel dead and one person injured.

Key commanders belonging to the outlawed TTP had announced the formation of TTP Jamatul Ahrar last month, with Maulana Qasim Khorasani as the new Ameer.

Iraq
Sunni Militants Kidnap Dozens of Men in Iraq
[ABCNEWS.GO] Militants affiliated with the bad boy Islamic State group kidnapped dozens of men from a Sunni village north of Baghdad on Thursday, residents said, as two separate boom-mobileings killed 23 people in the capital.

The gunnies took some 50 men from Tal Ali village, around 240 kilometers (170 miles) north of Baghdad, according to residents. The men were loaded onto trucks and driven away, they said, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
out of fear of retribution.

The gunnies had retreated from the village the day before, fearing an attack by the Iraqi army. When they left, residents set fire to an Islamic State flag.
Ah. Their menfolk were kidnapped -- with no doubt the inevitable result, given its IS/ISIS/ISIL -- as punishment for daring to rebel against their temporarily absent conquerors.
The Islamic State group spearheaded an offensive in June, seizing vast swaths of northern Iraq, including the country's second largest city djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
. The group has published grisly photos of the mass killing of captives in areas under its control in Iraq and neighboring Syria.

In Baghdad, police officials said a jacket wallah rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a police checkpoint in the Shiite neighborhood of Kazimiyah, killing 14 people, including five coppers. About 26 people were maimed and several cars were burnt in the attack.

Two hours later, a boom-mobile kaboom in central Baghdad killed nine people and maimed 21 others, said police.

Medical officials confirmed the casualties from both attacks. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Iraq air strikes 'kill senior Islamic State members'
[BBC] A senior Islamic State military commander in Iraq has been killed in an air strike on the northern city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, Iraqi state media report.

Iraq's defence ministry also said a top aide to IS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
had been killed in a strike on Mosul, but neither death has been confirmed.

Separately, IS fighters were reported to have kidnapped 40 men from a town in northern Iraq on Thursday.

The group has taken over swathes of Iraq and Syria in recent months.

Iraqiya TV quoted defence officials as saying Abu Alaa al-Iraqi, head of the IS military council in the city of Tal Afar, had died in an air strike.

Earlier reports on social media had suggested that al-Baghdadi himself had been killed in a separate strike on Mosul.

But the defence ministry said intelligence suggested the strike had killed one of the leader's senior aides instead.

US forces began carrying out air strikes on IS positions in August after they took over several cities in northern Iraq. It is unclear whether the latest strikes were by US or Iraqi forces.

#1  Does Iraq have the equipment and capacity to do anything like this? It seems to me we wouldn't be giving them anything like this, and that they would be stuck with just bombing the crap out of something and hoping that whatever the bombs landed on was what they wanted to kill.

#2  Development of ISIS was reportedly watched, monitored, and reported to POTUS by U.S. Intelligence for over a year, possibly longer. A year is plenty of time to identify a few High Value Targets (HVT) and monitor their movements, establish contingency 'on the shelf' drone zap program. Nobody targeted in Syria because we don't have access, or anyone on the ground in Syria.

This shi* is not magic, it takes time, dedicated intelligence resources, and a lot of painstaking hard work. Call me suspect.

#5  At this point Syria is a failed state. It would not seem that permission would be needed to target Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in Syria. If we have a CIA team in there, it also would seem that intelligence could be obtained as to where the Grand Dragon of ISIS is.

ISIL second-in-command killed in northern Iraq
[Iran Press TV] Iraq says a senior commander of the ISIL Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed...
group has been killed in the Iraqi city of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry said on Thursday that the man identified as Abu Hajar al-Souri, the Takfiri group's second-in-command, was killed in an Arclight airstrike in the northern city.

The Iraqi intelligence has also confirmed the death of Abu Alaa al-Iraqi, the head of the so-called ISIL military council in the city of Tal Afar, in an Arclight airstrike in Mosul.

The Iraqi forces have inflicted heavy losses on the Takfiri bully boyz as they are pressing ahead with an operation to clear regions captured by the ISIL.

On Monday, the Iraqi soldiers and volunteers retook the major hard boy strongholds of Sulaiman Bek and Yankaja, two towns to the north of Amerli.

22 Islamic State turbans killed in U.S. bombing
[Iraq Sun] At least 22 members of the Islamic State (IS) Sunni turban group were killed in US air strikes in a town bordering Syria, an Iraqi official said Thursday.

The dead included several foreign murderous Moslems and IS leaders, security official Mohammed Ibrahim al-Bayati said.

The air strikes were carried out in Rabea town, 110 km west of djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, the capital of Nineveh province, which has been in the hands of the IS hard boyz since June.

A medical source said that IS fighters moved several bodies to a hospital in the province, but did not allow the doctors to approach the victims.

Iraqi military aircraft were also flying over Mosul, but had so far not carried out any strikes as they did Wednesday when a former police headquarters and a civilian home were hit, killing three women.

Abbas Rejects Egyptian Offer To Settle Refugees In Sinai
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial...
has rejected an Egyptian proposal to resettle Paleostinian refugees in a large tract of land in the Sinai Peninsula to be annexed to the Gazoo Strip.

Speaking to a gathering of his Fatah party in Ramallah Sunday, Abbas said that an unnamed senior Egyptian official recently approached him and suggested settling Paleostinians in an area 1,600 square kilometers (618 square miles) large adjacent to Gazoo, reviving an idea originally proposed by former Israeli national security adviser Giora Eiland.

"They [the Egyptians] are prepared to receive all the refugees, [saying] 'let's end the refugee story'," Abbas was quoted by Ma'an news agency as saying.

The Paleostinian leader noted that the idea was first proposed to the Egyptian government in 1956, but was furiously rejected by Paleostinian leaders such as PLO holy warrior Muhammad Youssef Al-Najjar and poet Muin Bseiso who "understood the danger of this."

"Now this is being proposed once again. A big shot in Egypt said: 'a refuge must be found for the Paleostinians and we have all this open land.' This was said to me personally. But it's illogical for the problem to be solved at Egypt's expense. We won't have it," Abbas said.

Abbas told the crowd that if Israel had its way, Gazoo would become the Paleostinian state while the West Bank would remain just an autonomy.

This was not the first time Abbas rejected an offer to solve the plight of Paleostinian refugees living outside the West Bank. In January 2013, the Paleostinian leader told an Egyptian newspaper that he had requested the Israeli government to allow refugees in Syria to enter the West Bank and Gazoo.

According to Abbas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded that the refugees waive their "right of return" to Israel proper as a condition for crossing the border, a condition Abbas rejected out of hand.

Abbas confirmed the report to the Times of Israel in a meeting with Israeli journalists at his presidential compound in April.

#4  Is it impossible to reject the leftist narrative of Paleo 'refugees'? For how many generations can this go on? These are rhetorical questions - but need to be asked nonetheless. Israeli strike in Gaza kills Saudi fighter
[ARABNEWS] A Saudi fighter who had broken away from the Islamic State to join the Paleostinian combat in Gazoo was killed last week when Israeli missiles targeted the vehicle he was traveling in.

Sources said Sultan Farhan Rajih Al-Harbi broke away from the IS because of the crimes it committed in the areas it seized.

London-based Al-Hayat said Al-Harbi was originally from Hafr Al-Batin. Also known as Khallad Al-Jazrawi and Abu-Ma'dh Al-Harbi, he spent over 5 years in Saudi jails because he tried to join combatants in Iraq via Kuwait but was tossed in the slammer
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
at the borders.

Al-Harbi told his family he was going on a desert trip at the start of the Hijra year but was away for days. His worried relatives informed Civil Defense authorities but it was found out later he was in Yemen.

According to his friends, he lived as a combatant in Yemen, Somalia, Libya, and Syria. He left Syria for Turkey and then went for Egypt to sneak into Gazoo in the beginning of Ramadan.

In Gazoo, Al-Harbi was known as Salmah. He was injured in the leg on the first day Gazoo was shelled. He was also hit by a shrapnel in the head but that did not stop him from taking part in the war.

He was killed after an Israeli missile hit his vehicle in Al-Shujaiya district last Monday.

His brother told Al-Hayat the family came to know about Al-Harbi's death from his friends who had identified him through photographs.

Israel jails ex-MP for Syria visit
[ARABNEWS] Israel sentenced a former Druze MP to 18 months in prison Thursday for traveling to Syria and making contact with a "foreign agent," the Justice Ministry said.

Said Naffa travelled in 2007 to Syria, with which Israel is technically still at war, as part of a delegation of 300 Druze religious leaders, the charge sheet said.

An MP at the time, he met a leader of the PFLP-General Command, an offshoot of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, which "is a terror organization," according to a ministry statement. Naffa said the trip was aimed at "reestablishing contacts between members of the Druze community in Israel, Syria and Leb."
