[Pak Daily Times] NAWABSHAH: Five people bit the dust while 150 goats were killed when an oil tanker had a head-on collision with a cargo trailer here at Sakrand Bypass on Sunday. According to police, a speeding oil tanker collided head-on with a cargo trailer coming from the opposite direction at Sakrand Bypass, causing a power blast. Five people were burned to death as leaking oil from the tanker caught fire that consequently engulfed both the vehicles. One hundred and fifty goats which were being transport by the cargo trailer also succumbed to the burn injuries. Later, the dear departed people were shifted to a local hospital.

[Pak Daily Times] South Sudan rebels and government troops battled Monday over the strategic town of Nasir, the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... said, with rebels launching their largest offensive since an oft-broken May truce.
Heavy shooting continued for a second day with fighting continuing in the northern town and rebel forces apparently in "firm control" of the centre, UN front man Joe Contreras said. The United Nations warned Sunday that the fresh rebel offensive "represents the most serious resumption of hostilities" since President Salva Kiir and his former deputy, rebel leader Riek Machar, met in May promising again to stick to a January ceasefire.
More than seven months of war has left thousands dead and displaced 1.5 million people, and aid agencies are warning of famine if fighting continues. UNMISS, the UN mission, laid the blame for the truce violation squarely with Machar's forces.
The rebels claim to control the town, their former headquarters, located some 500 kilometres (300 miles) north of Juba and close to the Æthiopian border. But the United Nations said that fighting was going on, with the heaviest festivities Monday reported around the government army barracks, just west of the town. UN peacekeepers remain in control of their base, where more than two dozen civilians are sheltering inside.

If the Russians shut off the gas, their customers will shut off the money. The Russians desperately need the money. The proud people of Finland have no love for the Russians, and they have plenty of forests for fire wood. If my memory serves me correctly, Finland was the first [and possibly the only] country to repay it's war debt to the United States.

Anon, I don't think they gave the missles to the militia. They might have given Militia uniforms to the Russian folks operating the missile though.
[DefenseOne] For decades Japan has been the world's playground for design innovation. But now it may become ground zero for the future of something far more hostile: military drones.

What's so unexpected about the Japanese going mad for robots? It's pretty much their "thing" - and much more practical than cosplaying schoolgirls. Er, or at least, easier to field on a battlefield.

Given the Japanese demographic decline, it's really automating the battlefield. Just watch out for the Boomers, aka replicants (c.Blade Runner).
[Iran Press TV] Russia says its records show a Ukrainian fighter jet was flying near Malaysia Airlines MH17 passenger plane before it was shot down.
According to a statement issued by Lieutenant-General Andrei Kartopolov at a presser on Monday, the passenger plane had deviated north of its planned route and that a Ukrainian SU-25 fighter jet, which is usually armed with air-to-air missiles, had been recorded in the proximity of the Boeing 777. Oh, well. It was probably them that shot it down. Couldn't have been Russians. Seymour Hersh will no doubt collaborate that..
"An altitude gain was recorded for a Ukrainian armed forces plane," the senior Russian officer said at the presser. "Its distance from the Malaysian Boeing was three to five kilometers (two to three miles)," he said, noting that the SU-25 is capable of reaching an altitude of 10,000 meters "for a brief time." The SU-25 is armed with SA-11 missiles, right?
"With what aim was a military plane flying along a civilian aviation route practically at the same time and at the same flight level as a passenger liner?" said Kartopolov. "We would like to receive an answer to this question."
He also refuted allegations that Russia had provided pro-Russia protesters with BUK missile launchers. "Protesters" with air def missiles. My mind just boggled.
On July 17, Malaysian Airline Flight MH17 was reportedly shot down over Ukraine's volatile Donetsk region, while travelling to Kuala Lumpur from the Dutch capital Amsterdam. All 298 people on board died.
Ukraine and pro-Russia forces accuse each other of firing a surface-to-air missile at the passenger plane.

Another attempt at a pathetic lie by Putin and his lickboot lackeys.
"Why would an Ukrainian plane fly in Ukrainian airspace? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this case? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this case! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a KGB officer defending terrorists, and I'm talkin' about an Ukrainian plane! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! If there's an Ukrainian plane in Ukrainian airspace, you must acquit! The defense rests.

And so it begins.... Lies lies and then nothing will be done
Ps: john QC read and enjoyed your reply from yesterday vis a vis hitler/putin
Let me introduce you to some people that will hack your head off with a dull, rusty knife because you believe differently from them while screaming "Allah Akbar!"
Stupid, worthless piece of shit progressive. But I repeat myself.
[Iran Press TV] The United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... Security Council (UNSC) has unanimously condemned the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 passenger plane.
That's a relief...
The UNSC demanded on Monday that international inspectors be granted full access to the crash site in order to gather evidence.
Australia took the lead in drafting the resolution. The resolution called for a full independent international investigation into the downed passenger plane and demanded the responsible parties be held accountable.
"We must have answers. We must have justice," Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told the Security Council.
The crash of Malaysian Airline flight MH17, en route to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam, left all 298 people on board dead with speculation suggesting that the Boeing 777 was shot down by a surface-to-air missile while flying 33,000 feet over Donetsk on July 17.
Ukraine and opposition forces accuse each other of firing a surface-to-air missile at the passenger plane, both denying shooting down the plane.
Ukraine launched military operations in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in mid-April to crush the pro-Russia protests there. Violence intensified in May after the two flashpoint regions held local referendums, in which their residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence from Ukraine.

The lesson here is that the passenger plane was not downed by terrorists. It was downed by flying right into an active war zone.

..cause some suit doing bean counting thought the savings on fuel was more important. Which should tell anyone with a smidgen of brains, the suits at that airline think you're expendable. Time to treat the airline as expendable.

I am so relieved the UNSC is unanimous in its condemnation, that means even Russia approved. We can hold hands and sing Kumbayah now it's a consensus everyone!
Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, is officially Indonesia's seventh president after the General Elections Commission (KPU) concluded its vote recapitulation on Tuesday evening, confirming that the governor of Jakarta and furniture businessman had garnered 53.15 percent of the vote.
Jokowi netted 70,633,576 votes, which was over 8 million more than rival Prabowo Subianto, who received 62,262,844 votes or 46.85 percent. Analysts have said that with a gap of 6.3 percent, it would be difficult for war criminal Prabowo to contest the result with the Constitutional Court.
Jokowi will be sworn in as president no later than Oct. 20.
Praboohoo Prabowo had earlier rejected the election vote recapitulation process and result, claiming that the election process was flawed and marred by widespread fraud. Prabowo knows the value of fraud and of false flags. He sent a group of Indonesian military thugs in a Red Cross helicopter into the highlands of West Papua to free some Western Hostages. When innocent villagers (not the kidnappers) saw the helicopter they thought it was their friends and ran towards it. The Indonesians jumped out and mowed them down.

Dint worry he is no Obama... jokowi is a puppet of Megawati Sukarnoputri, he will make few decisions of his own.
Minor-wati represents another cabal of rich thieving Suharto era generals.
So it is the same as if Prabowo won, just not so blatant. At least there won't be that embarrassing moment when the US has to drop the travel ban because the war criminal is now the president of a big military power with a population of 200 million muslims
In an extraordinary statement in his campaign headquarters on Tuesday afternoon, Mr Prabowo said he entirely rejected the judgment delivered by 133 million Indonesians at the ballot box on July 9, because it was the result of ''massive cheating that is structured and systematic''. Despite having his own witnesses at the vote counting. He has only done this now it is clear he has lost.
He said the country's Electoral Commission had failed in its duty to democracy, so he withdrew his participation from the process. He also suggested, though not explicitly, that he would not take his appeal to Indonesia's constitutional court. Prabowo Subianto was banned from travelling to the US for his involvement in war crimes and torture. Like Putin he was head of the intelligence. He was head of Kopassus during it's killing spree over East Timor. He is responsible for bodies thrown down wells, for the human rights activist poisoned on Garuda. He is funded by his billionaire brother. He married former dictator and kleptocrat General Suharto's daughter. Suharto and his cronies looted hundreds of billions from Indonesia. Prabowo wants power and he will do anything to get it. Just watch this space.
Later, his legal representative, Mahendradatta, confirmed to kompas.com that, "only those with legal standing can go to the Constitutional Court - that is those who are registered as presidential candidates ... By withdrawing we ... no longer have legal standing".
Mr Prabowo's confidante, Fadli Zon, said the campaign team would let people know what was the next step "but for sure it will not be anything illegal".
There was also speculation that the withdrawal violated the presidential election law, which says anyone who withdraws after the voting will be jailed for between three and six years, and fined 50 billion and 100 billion rupiah ($5 million to $10 million).
It is unclear what Mr Prabowo will do next, and he did not spell it out, but, even though he urged calm, his response will heighten the risk of street battles launched by his hardline supporters.
''We, Prabowo-[and running mate] Hatta [Rajasa] were ready to win or to lose, but in a respectable democratic process, and therefore we ask all people who voted for us to be calm and be assured we are not letting our democratic rights be robbed,'' he said.
Mr Hatta was not present at the announcement and Mr Prabowo refused to answer questions.
Late on Monday, police were lining the city streets around the Electoral Commission after threats from Mr Prabowo's camp that he would send thousands of supporters to ''guard'' and ''secure'' the vote.
But Mr Prabowo ordered his own scrutineers to withdraw from the Electoral Commission's official count, amid claims that its process amounted to ''crimes'' against democracy in Indonesia. Jokowi has won. The vote is to be finalised today. Saudi Arabia has reportedly been flooding the Indonesian election campaign with money, and it is becoming increasingly islamicised. Indonesia has a massive military, 200 million Muslims and a stronger GDP than Australia. This country is a threat. The people of West Papua will continue to be exterminated whoever wins.

Indonesian elections are final and declared, Jakarta Post reports:
Jokowi wins with 53.15 percent of the vote.
The "moderate" candidate netted 70,633,576 votes, which was over 8 million more than war criminal Prabowo Subianto, who received 62,262,844 votes or 46.85 percent.

Jakarta Post also says Probowo is claiming that he won the election
"The spokesman for presidential ticket Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa, Tantowi Yahya, said (the vote count) by the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) was more accurate than that by the General Elections Commission (KPU).
He said the PKS tally indicated that Prabowo had won the election.
Prabowo earlier in the day rejected the election vote recapitulation process and result, claiming that the election was flawed and marred by widespread fraud" Story here
