Bagram (Afghanistan) (AFP) - Afghan President Hamid Karzai was offered a meeting with President Barack Obama at Bagram Air Base outside Kabul but declined, a US official said Sunday.
The official said that Washington was not surprised that the meeting did not work out at short notice, after Obama arrived at the base on a surprise visit after night fell on Sunday.
"As we said, we weren't planning for a bilateral meeting with President Karzai or a trip to the palace, as this trip is focused on thanking our troops," the official said.
"We did offer him the opportunity to come to Bagram, but we're not surprised that it didn't work on short notice.

Better a group photo at Bagram than one at the Phoenix VA Health Care (PVAHCS) facility, regardless of the AVGAS required to get there. One or two of the uniformed attendees in the video did look a bit recalcitrant.

If the man had a soul, he wouldn't be able to look into the eyes of people he's sent to face possible death for no good reason. However, in the great socialist word, they're simply proles in the eyes of those of the inner party.

Somehow I can't help but believe that the reaction of the service folks to Obumbles "surprise" visit was not quite the same as their reaction to GWB's surprise visit to Iraq.
[WEEKLYSTANDARD] CNN's John King reports that Democrats are privately calling President B.O. "detached," "flat footed," and "incompetent."
"Forget for a moment that Republican outrage," said King on his CNN show this morning. "More and more Democrats in key 2014 races are calling for the president to get a spine, they say, and fire his Veterans Affairs secretary. And what more and more Democrats are saying privately is scathing, calling the president and his team detached, flat footed, even incompetent.
"Maggie Haberman," said King turning to a panelist, "that's what strikes me, what democrats are saying privately in the wakes of the healthcare.gov problems, they see a president who doesn't want to take command, doesn't want to act fast. Raising the competence question. Some Democrats, who believe in government, [are saying] this White House doesn't appear to have its hand on the lever."
Haberman of Politico agreed, cited more examples, and added: "All of this adds up to somebody who just doesn't seem at all involved."

It's May. The smell of panic is already in the air. Don't worry I'm confident McConnell and Boehner will make sure enough Trunks stay home on election day for you. The Beltway Party takes care of its own. If there is ever another republic just make sure that term limits are stuck on everyone in any serving office.
It's hard, they've ignored as much as they can, now it's despration timeTheir "Phony Baloney" Jobs are on the line , and the Citizens just wo'nt forget who's responsible.
Allthough they should have started years ago, an yes we know it.
