[MYNEWS4] Secretary of State Ross Miller says a woman has been enjugged Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! on two felony charges for allegedly using a false identity to register to vote and casting ballots in Nevada elections.
Miller late Friday announced the arrest of Ortencia Segura in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. A complaint filed by the attorney general's office says Segura registered to vote in Washoe County in August 2008 and provided identification with the name of Marisela Reyna. Authorities confirmed she voted in the 2008 and 2010 elections.
Authorities say information from the Justice Department show Segura was arrested in 2012 and deported for filing a false statement on a passport application. They say she also had a false Nevada driver's license, prompting the investigation.
Miller says Segura was arrested Thursday for entering the country illegally.

Last week a Time reporter photographed a private US jet (N604EP) at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport.
SOFREP has confirmed, through intel sources, that the private jet contained mining and engineering businessman from the Republic of Ghana. The aircraft is leased to Ibrahim Mahama, the wealthy brother of Ghana's President John Mahama. The trip had nothing to do with any covert actions or violating sanctions. Again, unverified reporting with few details.
[LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL] The only known shots fired in the grazing feud between Bunkerville rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management came from federal agents or contractors who euthanized at least two bulls, Bundy's son-in-law said Thursday.
That's not counting other cattle that died of exhaustion and had to be put down, Bundy's son-in-law Josh Logue said.
"There's more dead that are dead through shot or ... dehydration from running in the desert," Logue said.
A BLM spokesman confirmed Thursday that two bulls had been killed during the agency's weeklong roundup that ended Saturday with an armed standoff between supporters of rancher Cliven Bundy and federal agents.
The two bulls posed "a safety hazard," said BLM spokesman Craig Leff, who didn't elaborate on the circumstances. Mr.Leff and his BLM cohorts are the only "safety hazard" as far as I am concerned.

Don't you love how the media twists words and tries to change the meaning of words to try to make terror a pleasant thing.
Euthanasia refers to the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering. Wikipedia
These people did not know how to handle a 2000 pound bull. You never get into the same pen as a 2000 pound bull. That said, they can easily be controlled by a true cowboy. The bulls were protecting he herd. And the puny little progressive federal know nothings did what they only know to do, maim, kill, destroy. Nothing euthanized about it.

PETA? PETA? Come out, come out, wherever you are!
Good luck with that. PETA shelters are known for systematically 'euthanizing' animals rather than letting them be adopted. Their Norfolk area people got busted for depositing the carcasses in various dumpsters around the city some years back.
#7
Peta came out with a comment that decried the euthanizing but also blasted the ranchers for breeding beef cattle. I don't think people eat the bulls but I could be wrong. Either way they can't just say lefties killing animals is bad because they are political hypocrites.
#8
Bulls can be eaten but they are primarily for breeding. They may have thought the BLM were more heifers in the heard. That would be the only acceptable reason for self defense.
[Tolo News] Local officials in northern Baghlan province on Sunday said unknown gunniesrubbed out an Afghan girl on Saturday while she was returning home after seeking asylum with provincial authorities the day before.
The incident took place in Pul-e-Khumri district, along the Tala and Barfak district highway, and the gunnies were able to flee the scene before police arrived. The girl was named Amina.
Amina fled from her home on Friday to get asylum at the provincial Ministry of Women's Affairs, according to the Ministry's representative, Khadija Yaqeen.
She was picked up by the National Directorate of Security (NDS), investigated and then brought to the provincial Women's Affairs office.
"She kept insisting that she wanted to be sent home, so we contacted her family and her family came to the Directorate and she was presented to go home, but then she was killed on the way home," Yaqeen said.
Ahmad Jawid Basharat, the Baghlan Police Chief, said the unknown gunnies shot Amina while she was with some of her family members. He seemed to place partial blame on the local office of Women's Affairs, which he said failed to coordinate Amina's departure with police.
"Amena beat feet from home on Friday and came to Pul Khumri city and was incarcerated You have the right to remain silent... by the NDS and after an investigation, she was sent to the Directorate of Women Affairs of Baghlan," Basharat said. "The Directorate of Women Affairs, without keeping police in the loop, handed her over to her family..."

[Egypt Independent] Over 100 people have been killed in a cattle raid in South Sudan's Warrap state, a local information minister told UN radio, the latest atrocity in the war-torn nation.
"We lost about 28 civilians" in a remote cattle herders' camp in the remote northern state, Warrap state Information Minister Bol Dhel told the UN-backed Miraya FM radio, adding that police and soldiers then chased the attackers, killing 85.
"Some of them (the attackers) were recaptured on the swamp areas going to Unity State," Dhel added.

[An Nahar] Hackers on Sunday targeted the website of Oman's official news agency, singling out and mocking Algeria's newly re-elected president Abdelaziz Bouteflika ... 10th president of Algeria. He was elected in 1999 and is currently on his third or fourth term, who will probably die in office of old age... as a handicapped "dictator."
Oman News Agency said its website had been hacked and that "false" reports were posted on the site.
The hackers reportedly distorted a news story about a letter from Oman's Sultan Qaboos to Bouteflika congratulating him for securing a fourth term in Thursday's presidential election.
In the false letter, the Omani leader described Bouteflika as a "handicapped" president of the "dictatorship" of Algeria, according to newspapers in the Gulf and North Africa.
He also wished Bouteflika a "10th tenure" as a president, in a sarcastic reference to the Algerian leader's 15 years in power, the reports said.
The letter was removed from ONA's website.
ONA apologized to its clients, saying it continues to publish stories that agree with the sultanate's policy of "mutual respect with brotherly and friendly states."
Bouteflika, 77, was re-elected with more than 80 percent of the vote despite having suffered a stroke last year that prevented him from campaigning in person.

[DAWN] A Kuwaiti court has temporarily suspended the publication of two independent newspapers over articles about a secret probe into allegations of a coup plot to overthrow the Gulf monarchy's government, the official state news agency reported Sunday.
KUNA carried a statement by the Information Ministry saying it notified Al Watan and Alam Al Yawm newspapers of the suspension because they had violated a prosecutor-ordered media blackout of the investigation.
According to the ministry, a judge ordered the newspapers to stop printing for two weeks.
The deputy editor-in-chief at Al Watan, Waleed al-Jassim, said his newspaper regrets the decision and plans to contest the ruling.
Two television stations owned by Al Watan have been closed in compliance with the ban as well, al-Jassim said. Both stations were off the air late Sunday.

[Bangla Daily Star] At least eight incumbent politicians are accused of murders and 23 of their colleagues accused in other criminal cases, claims Shushashoner Jannoy Nagorik (Shujan).
The House witnesses a dominance of businesspersons with half of the politicians representing them, according to a report of Shujan, a civil society organization working for establishing good governance.
The report, which was prepared on the basis of affidavits of the politicians submitted before the January 5 national polls, was revealed at a presser at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity yesterday.
"As in previous years, businesspersons and wealthy people have got a priority in the selection of candidates in this election," says the report.
The report, however, does not identify the businesspersons or the accused among the politicians.
Asked for the names, Shujan officials said they had prepared the report using a piece of software, which only showed the numbers.
On educational qualifications, the report says 275 of the 350 politicians have graduated and only 15 did not pass the secondary level.
The annual income of 55 politicians is above Tk 1 crore, while 17 earn less than Tk 2 lakh a year. At least 226 politicians and their relatives own property worth more than Tk 1 crore, it adds.
Besides, 258 politicians pay taxes regularly and 31 of them pay more than Tk 10 lakh, says the report.

[Iran Press TV] One in three voters who supported Britannia's Conservative Party in the 2010 European elections say they plan to vote for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in next month's elections, a new poll shows.
Telegraph/ICM poll, published on Saturday, showed that more than 30 percent of Tory voters prepare to vote for Nigel Farage's UKIP party in European elections on May 22.
More than 40 percent of respondents said the main reason behind UKIP's recent surge in support is that "people feel dissatisfied with the mainstream parties."
Some 26 percent said the party's "strong" stance on immigration was their most attractive feature, while 24 percent attributed the party's success to its pledge to take the country out of the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
Only two percent of respondents said "credible plan for Britannia's economy" explained the growing support for the UKIP among voters. Only five percent of respondents regarded Nigel Farage's leadership as the most significant factor for the surge.
The ICM survey of 2,000 adults also found that Britannia's main opposition Labour Party is currently in first place, with 30 percent of the vote, while the UKIP stands at the second place on 27 percent.
The Conservative Party is a distant third on 22 percent.
The UKIP wants Britannia's exit from the EU. It also plans to reduce the inflow of immigrants to the country.

[Egypt Independent] Four people were reported killed Sunday in a shootout in restive eastern Ukraine, shattering a fragile Easter truce in the crisis-hit former Soviet republic.
Three pro-Russian snuffies and one attacker were killed in a deadly firefight at a road block close to the separatist-held town of Slavyansk, local leader Vyatcheslav Ponomarev said.
The identity of the assailants was not known. Kiev's interim government had pledged a halt to military operations to oust the rebels until the end of the Orthodox Easter holidays on Monday.
A pro-Russian myrmidon at the scene told AFP that roughly twenty attackers in four cars had opened fire with automatic weapons on the rebel post early Sunday. He could not, however, confirm any casualties.
The reported violence came as the United States was pressing Russia to persuade the pro-Kremlin rebels to abide by an international accord calling for them to surrender their weapons and leave occupied public buildings.
Overnight, Orthodox leaders in Kiev and Moscow traded barbs over the Ukraine crisis as politics overshadowed traditional Easter observances.
Patriarch Filaret thundered to the faithful in pro-West Kiev that Russia was an "enemy" whose "attack" on Ukraine was doomed to failure because it was evil and contrary to God's will.
In Moscow, the patriarch of the Russian Church, Kirill, delivered a prayer for Ukraine in which he called on God in turn to put "an end to the designs of those who want to destroy Holy Russia".
Kirill said that while Ukraine was "politically" separate, "spiritually and historically" it was at one with Russia, and he prayed that it would benefit from authorities that are "legitimately elected".
In comments to be broadcast on US television Sunday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk lashed out at Russian President Vladimir Putin ...Second and fourth President of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead... -- whom Kiev and Washington accuse of criminal masterminding the insurgency in Ukraine -- for having a "dream to restore the Soviet Union".

[An Nahar] Pro-Kremlin rebels in east Ukraine appealed Sunday for Russian "peacekeepers" to sweep in after a deadly shootout killed at least two of their bad boys, shattering an Easter truce and sparking "outrage" in Moscow.
But the Western-backed authorities in Kiev claimed the violence was a set-up by Russia to create a pretext for it to send troops in.
The attack, near the flashpoint town of Slavyansk, undermined an accord worked out in Geneva between Russia, Ukraine and Western powers on Thursday under which "illegal gangs" were to surrender their weapons.
The deal, aimed at easing what has become the worst crisis between Washington and Moscow since the end of the Cold War, now appears to have stalled.
Russia has an estimated 40,000 troops massed on Ukraine's border in what NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... says is a state of readiness to invade, while the United States, according to The Washington Post, is preparing to send ground troops to neighboring Poland.
Sunday's shootout occurred in a village 18 kilometers (11 miles) west of Slavyansk.
Vladimir, a masked 20-year-old pro-Russian rebel who said he was at the scene of the shootout, told Agence La Belle France Presse: "Four cars pulled up to our roadblock around 1:00am (2200 GMT Saturday). We wanted to conduct a check, and then they opened fire on us with automatic weapons."
He said three of the bully boyz were killed.
An Agence La Belle France Presse photographer saw the bodies of two bully boyz laid out in a truck near the scene.
The identity of the assailants, who escaped before bad boy reinforcements arrived, was not known.
The leader of the separatist rebels in Slavyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomaryov, said he believed two of the attackers were also killed.
He declared a midnight-to-6:00 am (2100 GMT to 0300 GMT) curfew in Slavyansk -- and appealed for Russian President Vladimir Putin ...Second and fourth President of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead... to send in Russian troops as "peacekeepers to defend the population against the fascists."

YONAGUNI, Japan -- Japan began its first military expansion at the western end of its island chain in more than 40 years on Saturday, breaking ground on a radar station on a tropical island off Taiwan.
Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera, who attended a ceremony on Yonaguni island to mark the start of construction, suggested the military presence could be enlarged to other islands in the seas southwest of Japan's main islands.
"This is the first deployment since the U.S. returned Okinawa (1972) and calls for us to be more on guard are growing," Onodera told reporters. "I want to build an operation able to properly defend islands that are part of Japan's territory."
The military radar station on Yonaguni, part of a longstanding plan to improve defense and surveillance, gives Japan a lookout just 150 km (93 miles) from the Japanese-held islands claimed by China.
Building the base could extend Japanese monitoring to the Chinese mainland and track Chinese ships and aircraft circling the disputed crags, called the Senkaku by Japan and the Diaoyu by China.
The 30 sq km (11 sq mile) Yonanguni is home to 1,500 people and known for strong rice liquor, cattle, sugar cane and scuba diving. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's decision to put troops there shows Japan's concerns about the vulnerability of its thousands of islands and the perceived threat from China.
The new base "should give Japan the ability to expand surveillance to near the Chinese mainland," said Heigo Sato, a professor at Takushoku University and a former researcher at the Defense Ministry's National Institute for Defense Studies.
"It will allow early warning of missiles and supplement the monitoring of Chinese military movements."
China's decision last year to establish an air-defence identification zone in the East China Sea, including the skies above the disputed Senkaku/Diaoyu islets, rattled Tokyo. Japanese and Chinese navy and coastguard ships have played cat-and-mouse around the uninhabited islands since Japan nationalized the territory in 2012. Japanese warplanes scrambled against Chinese planes a record 415 times in the year through to March, the Defence Ministry said last week.
Tapping concern about China, Abe raised military spending last fiscal year for the first time in 11 years to help bolster Japan's capability to fight for islands with a new marine unit, more longer-range aircraft, amphibious assault vehicles and helicopter carriers. Japan's thousands of islands give it nearly 30,000 km (18,600 miles) of coastline to defend.

The Obama administration on Friday extended the review period on the Keystone XL pipeline, perhaps pushing back a final decision on the disputed project until after the Nov. 4 congressional elections.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., said the State Department did the right thing in pushing back the review, "given the unprecedented number of comments from the public."
Rachel Wolf, a spokesperson for a group called the All Risk, No Reward Coalition, said that "every day without Keystone XL is a day that we keep high-carbon tar sands in the ground." What a dope. It's already moving by rail, to refineries equipped for the heavy crude, on the east and left coasts. Bakken light crude is riding the rails to the gulf-coast refineries. Keystone has been rendered irrelevant, as was foreseen at this very site.

How come oil from Canada is bad for the environment but oil shipped here from mad antisemitic monarchies via tanker is ok?
#3
These morons just don't understand. The Canadian oil will be extracted and eventually turned into CO2. The only thing the Keystone pipeline will do is make it easier to get the crude to refineries in the US.
Without the pipeline, the crude oil will shipped via rail, or shipped to China.

If Obama votes yes on Keystone the environmentalists stay home on the midterms (or vote to the left of the Democrats). If he votes no on Keystone the Unions stay home on the midterms (or vote Republican).

[BREITBART] In March, according to the Los Angeles Times, the rate was 8.1%. In February, it was exactly the same. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the state only added 11,800 net new jobs in March, many of them in construction, government, education, and health services. The greatest gains were in professional and business services, with 3,100 new positions.
But the jobs numbers in hospitality, manufacturing, and leisure dipped, and the biggest drop came in financial activities, as the slowing rate of mortgages forced banks to fire employees. The field of finance lost 2,400 jobs.

She's right that women can be held to the same physical standard as men. But not many of them will be able to achieve it. I am almost 5'0" tall (152 cm). When I was young, I was co-captain of my high school girls gymnastics team. While I was not a very good gymnast, to be honest, every day during the season we did 30 military (a.k.a. "real") push-ups and sixty sit-ups to warm up before our workout, and more strength work afterward. Once, on a bet with Mr. Wife, I did 200 push-ups, though by the las twenty I was down to sets of one. Some of our girls ran for fun, so it can be done... but I was not one of them.
However, the one thing that struck me reading the article is that a young woman who wants so badly to become an officer in a less than welcoming environment needs to be proactive in determining the tested criteria, then disciplined enough to train herself to exceed them. Only by being visibly one of the best can she demonstrate that she was not a secretly enabled affirmative action brat. By this final test of leadership she demonstrated that in the current environment she does not deserve to be one of the first female Marine officers.
I realize this is not fair. But war is the ultimate Darwinian test, and fairness has nothing to do with it.

tw, as we used to say in the good old days "Right on, right on, right on".
My fear is that the military will be forced to lower standards for females so that they will be able to complete the infantry course.
The problem is that when it comes to combat, strength can be very important - not as important as the days when it was all swords, battle axes and spears. However, if a unit is to go out on patrol, they have to carry a certain amount of weapons, ammunition and other equipment. If one of the members is not strong enough to carry her assigned load, somebody else will have to carry it for her.

If they are dropping 20-25% of the guys (for presumably fitness/endurance reasons), it is going to take an exceptional woman to make the cut.
Seems a bit disingenuous to blame the Corps for not making her fitter. Especially since they had to drop the standards to get enough women in the first place. But as TW says, it's nothing personal, just Darwin.

Women are built DIFFERENTLY than men. Physially, emotionally, psychology.
Men also have enough issue with PTSD. Adding the memory of watching women get cut to pieces on the battle field adds to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. And I believe PTSD could be more prevalent in women who survive.
My father fought in WWII for three straight years. He saw everything. He said women are not built for the life and death struggle that exists on the battle field. He was very adamant about that based on experience.
#7
One standard. It applies to all. Why? Because combat does not give out exemptions and dispensations. If you have to overpower someone in a bayonet fight, or dead-lift a buddy to get him to safety, all that exemption does is get you or your buddy killed.

Yes, ladies in combat will not do well, but how likely is that? Essentially, a lady officer in the infantry is buying a lottery ticket, that she will complete her assignment without being deployed.
And should a deployment unfortunately occur, she probably will have enough warning to fall pregnant and avoid it.
