An Egyptian court on Tuesday banned all activities of the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in Egypt, a judge said.
"The court has ordered the banning of Hamas work and activities in Egypt," the judge, who asked to remain anonymous, told Reuters. Hamas is an offshoot of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, which has been declared a terrorist group. They're still welcome in Washington & Brussels though
[Al Ahram] Attacks on security personnel continued in four Egyptian cities on Monday, with two coppersrubbed out and another hospitalised with severe gunshot wounds.
Hassan Sayed, a police officer in the Upper Egyptian city of Beni Suef, was bumped off by unknown assailants in front of a currency exchange office while he was on his way to work, according to an official source from the interior ministry, state-run MENA reported.
Meanwhile near Cairo, a low-ranking police officer was rubbed out in the Al-Badrasheen district of Giza. The officer was riding in a police vehicle when it came under fire from an gang of person or persons unknown travelling on a cycle of violence.
Also in Giza, another officer was severely injured when he was shot by unknown assailants. The officer was sent to the hospital shortly afterwards.
In the southern city of Aswan, an unidentified group set fire to a car belonging to an official in the city's criminal investigation department.
Also on Monday, an unknown group shot at a police rescue car in front of a cop shoppe in the Nile Delta city of Mansoura, leaving one officer injured and a nearby shop damaged.
Sayed's death in Beni Suef recalls three other senior coppers who have been bumped off in a similar manner in recent months -- Mohammed Mabrouk in Cairo in November, Mohammed Said in Giza in January and Mohammed Eid Abdel-Salam in Sharqiya in February.
About 175 coppers have died in the political turmoil following the ouster of president Mohammed Morsi ...the former president of Egypt. A proponent of the One Man, One Vote, One Time principle, Morsi won election after the deposal of Hosni Mubarak and jumped to the conclusion it was his turn to be dictator....
Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim survived an liquidation attempt in Cairo last September.
The killings of coppers Mabrouk and Said, as well as the attempt on Ibrahim, have all been claimed by the bad boy Islamist group Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis, which has been responsible for a wave of terrorist attacks in recent months targeting the police and army.

[Al Ahram] Egypt said on Sunday it was deeply concerned about violence targeting its citizens in Libya, hours after an Egyptian was shot in Benghaziamid growing Islamist violence in the city.
Salama Fawzy was shot by a gunman while at a grocer's in the city's Magoury area, Egypt's foreign ministry said in a Sunday statement, adding that the victim was hospitalised in a "highly critical condition."
"Egypt is following, with strong dissatisfaction and deep concern, the recurrent violence against Egyptians in Libya, the latest of which is Sunday's heinous crime," the ministry said
Egypt has asked the Libyan authorities to open an investigation into the "heinous terrorist incident" and to inform it of the results, added the statement.

[MAGHAREBIA] The "Mourabitounes" on Sunday (March 2nd) grabbed credit for the February 17th rocket attack against French forces near the Timbuktu airport, ANI reported.
The terror group's front man, Assem El Hajer, told ANI by telephone that a similar attack was carried out the same week against a military base and an airport in Gao.

"Boko Haram killed a (Cameroonian) soldier. Our soldiers killed six of their guys" and "captured" two others near the Nigerian border, the source told a news agency on Monday, requesting anonymity.
A local Cameroonian NGO confirmed the assault and said there were "victims" without specifying the number.
"On Sunday, Boko Haram Islamists entered Cameroon... there was a clash between them and the soldiers," said Mey Aly, from rights group Os-Civil Droits de l'Homme.
"Around 30 heavily-armed Boko Haram soldiers crept discretely into Cameroon. A villager saw them and raised the alarm," she added.
Soldiers blocked their path and a firefight broke out. Cameroon's rapid reaction force sped to the area.
"The region's populations have been terrorised by incursions from Islamists like Sunday's. We call on stronger efforts from the authorities to reassure the population," she added.
Earlier Monday, an official said that suspected Islamist snuffies had killed 29 people in Nigeria's embattled northeast on Sunday, the latest carnage in a surge of violence that has left more than 100 dead this month alone.
The Nigerian military has launched a major offensive aimed at crushing the Islamist uprising, which has killed thousands since 2009.
On Wednesday, Nigeria's Information Minister Labaran Maku said that much of his country's problem with Boko Haram stemmed from its border with Cameroon and called for "increased partnership" from its northern neighbour.

[ZEENEWS.INDIA] Abu Dhabi: An Emirati police officer from a joint Gulf force in Bahrain was among three personnel killed on Monday in a bomb at a Shi'ite village near Manama, the UAE government said.
First Lieutenant Tariq al-Shehi died along with two members of the Bahraini police force "while performing his national duty of maintaining order," the United Arab Emirates' Interior Ministry said in a statement carried by WAM state news agency.
He is the first Gulf officer to be reported killed since forces from the region rolled into Bahrain in March 2011 to boost the kingdom's security forces, which later quelled a month-long Shi'ite-led uprising.

[Dhaka Tribune] At least two members of an alleged gang of kidnappers were killed in a 'shootout' with a RAB team at Jurain in the capital yesterday.
In another incident, a member of an alleged gang of robbers was killed when police fired returned gunfire when attacked with bombs in the early hours of yesterday at Savar, on the outskirts of the capital.
According to RAB 10 officials and police, four RAB members and four coppers sustained injuries during the incidents while the elite force recovered two pistols from the spot.
Police also recovered a machete, a homemade long sharp weapon, a bomb and a torch.
"Careful, Constable Rajeeb. That appears to be a homemade long sharp weapon."
"Ow!"
"Dammit - that's number three. There goes our quarterly safety award."
The persons killed in RAB shootout were identified as Sangram Chowdhury, 42, and Mahmudul Wasim, 62, of 129 Madina Masjid Road in Alambagh under Kadomtoli cop shoppe, while the identity of the 28-year-old alleged robber could not be known immediately.
The injured RAB 10 members were Sub-Inspectors Taiyebur Rahman, 38, and Sanjay, 35, and constable Rajeeb, 30, while one of the four injured coppers was Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam.
Rafiqul was admitted to Enam Medical College and Hospital and three constables were given first aid.
RAB officials said they also rescued four persons kidnapped and tortured in a house on Madina Masjid Road of Alambagh in Jurain.
Of them, Mohammad Rana, 18, was kidnapped from Ashulia, Jahangir Miah, 30, from ZiRABo, Hridoy Mahmud, 32, from Sign Board, and Akhter Hossain, 40, from Sanarpar. Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, Executive Magistrate Farid Mohammad Farhad Hossain said the rescued persons had been under the RAB custody.
RAB officials said all victims bore different injury marks.
'Gunfight' between RAB and 'abductors'
Wing Commander ATM Habibur Rahman, director of Legal and Media Wing of RAB, told the Dhaka Tribune the shootout between the RAB 10 members and the kidnappers took place when the elite force had been on a drive to rescue some kidnapped persons from a house on Madina Masjid Road in Alambagh under Kadomtoli cop shoppe area.
"Acting on a tip-off that a gang of criminals kidnapped some people and had been torturing them by taking them hostage in the house, we went into action," said Wing Commander Habibur Rahman.
He said immediately after the RAB personnel rushed to the spot, the criminals opened fire on them, prompting the crime-busters to retaliate with gunshots, triggering a shootout.
According to the official, at one stage of the shootout, two members of the gang and four RAB members also sustained injuries while the other members of the gang fled.
Wing Commander Habibur Rahman added that the gang members who received bullet wounds gave up the ghost to the Mitford Hospital while the injured RAB men were undergoing treatment.
While talking to journalists at the hospital, Sayema Chowdhury, wife of deceased Sangram Chowdhury, said her husband had gone out of the house Sunday night, but he did not return home till noon.
"In the afternoon, I came to know my husband died along with another man in a so-called shootout with RAB," she said.
Inspector Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kadomtoli cop shoppe, said: "RAB officials told them about the shootout that took place between a team of RAB 10 and a gang of criminals leaving two of the alleged criminals dead and three RAB members injured."
He added that two pistols were also recovered from the possession of injured members of the gang.
But neither RAB nor Police could detail the cause of abduction of the four and anything more about the incident.
Shootout by police
In Savar, an alleged member of a gang of robbers was killed when police shot up them in return for an attack with bombs at the lawmen early in the morning on Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Harannagar area in Rajfulbaria under Savar cop shoppe.
Inspector Mostofa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Savar cop shoppe, said during the shootout that took place around 3am, four coppers also sustained injuries when the robbers hurled bombs at them.
"Acting on a tip-off that a gang of robbers had been preparing for committing robbery on the highway, a team of police rushed to the spot," Inspector Pradeep said.
He added that sensing the presence of police, the gang of robbers tried to run away, but the lawmen caught some of them and charged batons.
Pradeep said at one stage the robbers hurled bombs at the lawmen, prompting them to retaliate. [BANG! BANG! BANGETY BANG!]with gunshot that left one member of the gang dead.

Judge Lewis Kaplan began selection for an anonymous jury shortly after 10 am (1500 GMT), eliminating a handful from 44 prospective members on grounds of hardship owing to their personal or work commitments.
Abu Ghaith is best known for appearing with bin Laden and the current leader of al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri ... Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. The prosecution claims he was complicit in the December 2001 shoe bombing plot to bring down an airliner flying from Gay Paree to Miami.
But the defense says the U.S. has no evidence that Abu Ghaith was involved or even aware of such plots.
The defendant pleads not guilty to all three counts.
Highlights of the trial are likely to be two witnesses testifying by video link from Britannia and Yemen.
On March 10, Saajid Badat, a 33-year-old convicted co-conspirator of Reid's -- subsequently released in Britannia and dubbed by the media a terror "supergrass," British slang for informant -- has been called by the prosecution.
U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan also authorized the testimony by video link of bin Laden's former driver Salim Hamdan, from Yemen.
Hamdan was convicted in the United States of providing material support for terrorists, but his sentence was overturned on appeal.
The trial in the U.S. federal court in lower Manhattan is expected to three to four weeks.
Kaplan ruled that the trial can begin without the defense receiving 14 pages of testimony from 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who has been detained at Guantanamo Bay since 2006.
The lawyer for Mohammed, the most high-profile detainee held over the 2001 attacks, refused to send the document because U.S. intelligence wanted to vet the answers, according to the defense.
It is one of a series of terror cases transferred to New York as U.S. President Barack Obama Ready to Rule from Day One... has promised to close down the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.

[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: At least 11 people, including additional sessions judge Rafaqat Awan, were killed and 29 others maimed on Monday during a gun and kaboom attack in a court in the capital city's F-8 area, DawnNews reported.
Asad Mansoor, a spokesperson for the Ahrarul Hind which is a lesser-known splinter group of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), while talking to Dawn.com claimed that his group was responsible for today's court attack.
The group had recently parted ways with the TTP over holding of talks with the government.
He claimed that the court was targeted as the prevailing system in the country was un-Islamic which included the courts and its administration. He added that their struggle would continue till Sharia law was implemented in Pakistain.
According to police, two blasts took place inside the court's premises, one near the lawyers' chambers and the other outside another office.
Moreover, lawyers fled from their chambers seeking shelter from bullets as fear and panic gripped the premises.
Officers at the scene told AFP the incident began when a defendant was brought before the court and his associates tried to break him free.
Another senior-ranking police official said the incident could be a terror attack but nothing could be said with certainty as yet.
According to police authorities, bully boyz entered the chambers of judge Rafaqat Awan and opened fire on him. Initial medical reports said that the judge was hit by three bullets.
The hearings of cases scheduled for the day were postponed.
Subsequently, police and special forces were deployed in the court and emergency was declared in hospitals.
The capital city is currently under high alert and the Red Zone was also sealed.
The head and feet of the alleged suicide kaboomer were found.

[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: Seven suspects nabbed Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! in a locality of the capital late on Friday night after an encounter are members of a splinter group of Harkatul Mujahideen and involved in assassinations, extortion and acts of terrorism, police said here on Saturday.
Police were carrying out a search operation in Kural and Tarlai areas on the basis of an intelligence report that suspects were present there when they came under attack, triggering an exchange of fire. Police said the operation continued for five hours.
An unspecified number of accomplices of the arrested people escaped and took away explosives and weapons after the shootout with the police.
The actual number of suspects who escaped is yet to be established, but police believe that they were more than two and that they had taken away with a huge cache of arms and ammunitions and explosives.
"The escapees were the planners, criminal masterminds and seniors in the group who take decisions and use other members," they added.
According to the police, the group called itself Intaqmi (Dire Revenge™) and it replaced its predecessor, the Tanveer Gondal group, in Islamabad which was busted by police last year. The group comprised members of Harkatul Mujahideen and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain.
Police said members of the group were involved in assassinations of Shias in Rawalpindi and Nowshera.
Meanwhile, ...back at the precinct house, Sergeant Maloney wasn't buying it. It was just too pat. The whole thing smelled phony, kind of like a dead mackeral but without the scales... the arrested people were produced in the anti-terrorism court which remanded them to the police custody.

Police and hospital officials said certain criminals lobbed a grenade in Shah Beg Lane in Storied Baghdadi, wounding five men.
In another incident in Chakiwara, seven people were maimed when an bomb went off in the Saifi Bagh area.
"We received two young men brought dead and 10 injured, including women, from Storied Baghdadi and Chakiwara," said medico-legal officer of the Civil Hospital Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. The doctor said that relatives took away the bodies of Naseer Nazir and Hanif Mohammed without medico-legal formalities. He said the dead had sustained pellet wounds.
Officials said it was a locally made grenade containing pellets.
One maimed person, Kamran, who received a pellet wound on his right leg, said that it was the second time that he was maimed in a grenade attack in recent times.
He said an X-ray report showed that a pellet of the previous attack was still in his body. He said the maimed had been lying in the Saifi Bagh area for 20 to 25 minutes, but law-enforcement agencies personnel did not arrive there.

On Sunday evening, miscreants fired a rocket, which landed on a rooftop in Singu Lane, causing injuries to two girls and a woman, said Chakiwara SHO Yasin Gujjar. The maimed were taken to the CHK.

Some of the maimed in the four attacks were identified as Abida, 4; Zainab, 6; Jamila Ayaz, Sakina, Shabana Jalil, Asma, Mohammad Akram, 45, and Mufazal.

[Al Ahram] Five rockets launched from Syria hit a Hezbollah-dominated area of eastern Leb on Monday, causing no casualties, a security source told AFP.
"Five rockets launched from across the border with Syria hit the village of Brital (eastern Leb) and its surroundings," the source said on condition of anonymity.
Two of the rockets landed near Brital's high school, and one near the municipality of nearby village Al-Khudr. The two remaining rockets hit an area between the two villages, causing no injuries.
Jihadist groups frequently claim responsibility for cross-border rocket attacks on eastern Leb, which they say are in Dire Revenge™ for the intervention in Syria's war of the Shia turban movement Hezbollah.
Hezbollah bastions in eastern Leb and southern Beirut have in recent months been the target of a string of kabooms, mostly suicide kabooms, killing dozens of people.

Al-Qaeda's Syria affiliate, al-Nusra Front, is playing a major role in the fighting, said the Britannia-based Observatory.
State television said the army "took control of Sahel village in the Yabrud area, after killing several terrorists."
Sahel is only six kilometers (four miles) from Yabrud, a key rebel stronghold in the Qalamoun mountains, north of Damascus, and near the Lebanese border.
For nearly three weeks, the Yabrud area has come under intense, daily bombardment.
The battle for Yabrud is crucial for Hizbullah, which accuses rebels of using it as a gateway to sending boom-mobiles to target its strongholds in eastern Leb and Beirut's southern suburbs.
Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman described Sahel as "a key entry point to Yabrud" but stressed that the army had not taken it yet.
"The army does not want to take Yabrud. It's objective is to seize the surrounding villages and hills, to completely besiege the town."
The Syrian army has used the siege tactic in several towns and cities from the onset of the nearly three-year war that has now killed an estimated 140,000 people.
Hizbullah's television channel al-Manar screened footage from Sahel on Monday afternoon. One of its journalists did a standup from the village, while gunnies and armored vehicles could be seen in the background.
The news hound said the capture of Sahel was aimed at "tightening the noose around the main (rebel) bastion in Yabrud."
Hizbullah is fighting to try to cut off the road linking Yabrud to Arsal in eastern Leb, whose population supports the Syrian revolt.
But according to a Lebanese source with close links to Syria's rebels, the hard boyz are still in control of the road linking Arsal to Yabrud, and several others in the region.
In spring 2013, Hizbullah acknowledged sending fighters into Syria to support the Syrian army, exacerbating divisions in Leb between pro- and anti-Damascus camps.
Hizbullah says it is trying to defend Leb from an "extremist" threat, while its critics say the party has pulled the perils of Syria's war into Leb.
On Monday, four people were maimed when eight rockets launched from Syria hit the Bekaa town of Brital and its surroundings in eastern Leb.

[An Nahar] Four people were maimed as at least eight rockets fired from the Syrian side of the border struck several areas in the Bekaa on Monday, in an attack that was claimed by the Qaeda-inspired group al-Nusra Front in Leb.
"Two rockets fell between the towns of Talya and Brital near the public road and one of them hit near a residential area in Brital's al-Habib valley," NNA said.
"Four people were lightly injured in the shelling, including Hasan Tleis who was hit by a piece of shrapnel in the head," the agency added.
It earlier reported that six rockets landed in Brital and its surroundings.
A security source told Agence La Belle France Presse that "five rockets launched from across the border with Syria hit the village of Brital and its surroundings."

"With God's help, the heroes of al-Nusra Front in Leb fired several Grad rockets ...Soviet-developed 122-mm rockets, usually launched from trucks. Newer versions are reported to have a range of up to 30 km.... on the dens of the 'party of Satan' (Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... ), in retaliation to the continued massacres of the party of Iran," the Front said, calling on what it called "our people in Leb" to be "patient."
The group also slammed President Michel Suleiman ...before assuming office as President, he held the position of commander of the Leb Armed Forces. That was after the previous commander, the loathesome Emile Lahoud, took office as president in November of 1998. Likely the next president of Leb will be whoever's commander of the armed forces, too... as "a head of state who cannot defend himself," in an apparent reference to the latest war of words between the president and Hizbullah.

[An Nahar] The military tribunal issued on Monday arrest warrants against four people suspected of collaborating with al-Qaeda-linked Abdullah Azzam Brigades ... Leb's current al-Qaeda affiliate, named after a guy whose car the current head of al-Qaeda had boomed... official Naim Abbas.
Judge Fadi Sawan issued the warrants against the suspects after questioning them, the state-run National News Agency reported.
Abbas, a top Abdullah Azzam Brigades official, has been charged with belonging to an armed terrorist group.
An arrest warrant was issued against him last week for also having ties with Jamal Daftardar, another terror suspect who is in jug.
Abbas, a Paleostinian described as Abdullah Azzam Brigades' number two man in Leb, was jugged You have the right to remain silent... by the Lebanese army in the Beirut area of Corniche al-Mazraa on Feb. 12.
Also Monday, the lawyer of Abbas and a female terrorist suspect, Joumana Hmayyed, submitted motions to Judge Sawan, NNA said.
Sawan will take a decision on the motions before questioning them, it said.
Hmayyed was held the same day of Abbas' arrest on the Arsal-Labweh road in the eastern Bekaa Valley.
She was driving a booby-trapped car. Two other women, who were with her in the vehicle, have been released.
