After Rob Ford stirred further controversy Thursday while wearing a Toronto Argonauts jersey, Canadian Football League Commissioner Mark Cohon strongly suggested the embattled mayor should stay away from Sunday's playoff game between the Argos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
"We believe it would be better for Mr. Ford to focus on his challenges right now," Cohon said in a statement to the Star. "And the fairest thing to our athletes and fans would be to keep the focus Sunday on the game."
Apparently Ford, who reportedly appeared in the stands in the third quarter of the game, didn't agree.

[Pak Daily Times] The outgoing president of the Maldives said on Sunday the election of a new head of state signalled "a happy ending" to a political crisis which began when he took power from the islands' first freely-elected leader.
In an exclusive interview with AFP in Hong Kong, Mohammed Waheed, acknowledged the Indian Ocean archipelago was still trying to find its feet as a democracy but said it could now move on after the outcome of Saturday's run-off election.
"We are going through an early stage of democratic transition. It's not easy for the Maldives," said Waheed, who has family in Hong Kong and will accompany his wife to Singapore for a medical appointment.

The Sultanate of Oman recruits a good many of their garrison quality troops from Gwadur on the Pak coast. Mostly big splay toed brutes with no boots and sporting ancient Martini rifles. You never make these people Officers, you hire officers in other places. One of the problems ( there are several ) with Paki soldiers is they sh** on the barracks stairs because its convenient. They don't know what a toilet is.

Its possible to use this design for a lot of different frequencies and types of energy, including vibration and sound energy harvesting. Until now, a lot of work with metamaterials has been theoretical. We are showing that with a little work, these materials can be useful for consumer applications.
The properties of metamaterials allow for design flexibility not possible with ordinary devices like antennas. When traditional antennas are close to each other in space they talk to each other and interfere with each others operation. The design process used to create our metamaterial array takes these effects into account, allowing the cells to work together.

Two years after San Jose schoolgirls branded a teacher as a "perv" and "creeper" who inappropriately touched kids and peeked into their restroom, a civil jury Friday found the children and their parents financially liable for defamation in a case that pitted the rights of the accused against the aim of reporting perceived abuse.
The jury awarded $362,653 in compensatory damages to former Catholic school physical education teacher John Fischler after finding the families spread false statements about him that damaged his reputation. The 49-year-old broke into a huge smile Friday when he heard the favorable verdict, which his lawyer characterized as "complete vindication." Another sign of return to sanity?

The unusual case began in 2011 when administrators at Holy Spirit school in Almaden Valley were told that teacher John Fischler had inappropriately touched their 10- and 11-year-old girls and peeked in a girls' bathroom. School officials and police cleared Fischler of sexual misconduct.
But the teacher, claiming the ordeal had indelibly stained his reputation and ruined his teaching career, declined to return to what he called a poisonous atmosphere at work and filed a lawsuit seeking nearly $1 million in damages.
The lawsuit contended he was the victim of a "conspiracy" by "classic parent bullies" and their daughters, including a popular girl he described as having a "gang-leader-like personality," to get him fired from the private Catholic school where he was an at-will employee.
