De Blasio is as red as Ken Livingstone. This is not hyperbole. Earlier this year, we learned that in his youth (described by the New York Times, of course, as idealist) de Blasio was an ardent supporter of the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. This regime, which seized control of their country from the Somoza dictatorship in 1979, was armed and bankrolled by the Soviet Union. This didnt matter to the democratic socialist de Blasio, who happily visited Nicaragua in 1988 to help construct The Future. This is usually the part where apologists bring up the Iran-Contra scandal. But no blunder by the US government can erase an American citizens responsibility for supporting anti-American tyrants.
In 1991, de Blasio honeymooned in Cuba which is illegal according to US law. I happen to disagree with the law, but its the law nevertheless. More egregious is that de Blasio was probably enjoying his romantic bliss in one of those lavish foreigners-only hotels Castro erected as Potemkin resorts. Has he no shame? He has courted Hispanic voters despite supporting two regimes that have terrorised and murdered thousands of Hispanics. This does not register as irony in New York, however. During an interview in September, de Blasio was called out by a Cuban-American radio host on his fling with Castroism. The Democratic candidate answered feebly, I dont pretend to have full perspective of the country [Cuba]. He neednt pretend.
As Dr. Steve commented in salmon highlight, commies indeed.

Does that included the Bush family's support for America lovin' Adolf, The House of Saud, La famille Bin Laden, etc, etc, etc? I'll report in in 2 hours just to give you and the other Teapot Party wannabes time to twist facts and rewrite history...

Yes, you Jerk, a lot of people were fooled by Hitler at first including your beloved FDR and don't forget Neville Chamberlain. Read the Garden of the Beasts in which FDR was willing to leave the Jews to the tender mercies of Der Fuhrer because he still thought Adolf might make good on WWI reparations. It was a good thing we had Churchill. I'm not sure if FDR ever would have figured it out for himself.
And it's true that some of our leaders past and present have been all too willing to overlook the flaws in the House of Sod. I won't defend them for it. Please note, however, that the last time the Soddies wanted us to fight a war for them the American people decided it was time to take a pass. Fool us once and all that, you know. That's right. Your buddy Baraq Hussein was all gung ho for it until Putin stared him down. That was pretty weak. And, of course, now that we're the world's leading oil producer the Soddies can FOAD. You are cordially invited to join them.
As for bin Laden, even Baraq was able to figure that out. Too bad he's still playing footsies with the Pakis.
You're kinda all over the place here, though, Jerkface. Exactly who or what are you trying to bash and why and whose side are you on?

I don't suppose you've ever studied foreign policy? Worked in international relations, the intelligence community, international commerce, specifically the flow of oil?

It's pretty sad when you so called "proof" consists of a laundry list of fallacious propaganda techniques. Troll, I suggest you up your game. Start with looking up onus probandi, argumentum ad hominem, straw man, and especially, tu quoque. Come back once you can put forth something that might take a freshman rhetoric student more than 2 minutes to completely demolish. Propaganda techniques are pretty thin reeds upon which to rest your philosophical foundation.
#15
Yep Mr Jerkface, both FDR and William Lyon Mackenzie King allied themselves with Joseph Stalin, a greater killer than old Adolph. Just one of the great socialist butchers of the 20th century.

"It's pretty sad when you so called "proof" consists of a laundry list of fallacious propaganda techniques."
Excuse me, Casper, but are you telling me that the Bush family did not have close ties to Hitler and the Third Reich, The Saudi House, and the Bin Ladens...cuz if you are denying these well-known facts, you are definitely using some serious 'spooky' logic, pardon the pun...an Old Spook like you should feel shame...

"Yep Mr Jerkface, both FDR and William Lyon Mackenzie King allied themselves with Joseph Stalin, a greater killer than old Adolph. Just one of the great socialist butchers of the 20th century."
True...so why are you lambasting Bill DeBlasio then for at one point being in bed with the Sandinistas yet don't like pointing out the Bushite Dynasty's love affairs with fascist butchers? Oh, BTW, for the record, if it wasn't for Uncle Joe, you would be speaking English with a German accent in whatever American boondock you live in...the biggest historical fraud is that America won WWII...actually the Soviet Union did...

As much as I detest political dynasties and the cronyism they nourish, the fact that the letters b*u*s*h are enough to send nearly all socialist true believers and useful idiots into uncontrollable fits of BDS frothenspittzle is enough to have me consider a vote for Jeb if he runs.

"sputter...sputter...enough to have me consider a vote for Jeb if he runs. "
Oh dear, please make that a promise!!! I would love to see America with a Supreme Leader named 'Jeb'....He should also change his name to Clampett and adopt a 29 yo dunce son (or maybe he already has one) and we all would have a comic trifecta har-har at your expense....

In your wildest rationalized lefty dreams. The Germans and Soviet were at each others throats many months before the Japanese decided to drag America into the conflict. The die was cast. The Germans lacked the capacity to reach America to make any difference let alone deal with what they already had let loose. As for the Soviets, Uncle Joe was screaming for the Second Front for a reason. I don't recall the Russians saying "don't bother, we have this under control".
ROFLMAO!!! Talk about rhetorical hindsight. With respect to the Soviets, I will go even further...the ONLY reason the Japanese accepted unconditional surrender had absolutely nothing to do with the two A-bombs but had EVERYTHING to do with the Soviet Union actually honouring there agreement with the Allies (something both the Brits and the Americans rarely ever did with the Soviets) and preparing an invasion of the Japanese mainland from the north. That was always Imperial Japan's greatest fear...

The last successful large scale Soviet amphibious landing during WWII took place in January, 1943 in Novorossiysk on the Black Sea. From start to finish the battle took eight months and is widely considered to be one of the worst strategic blunders in a long series of strategic blunders by Stalin in WWII.
To think that Stalin would undertake an amphibious invasion of Japan is just plain false, even if the Red Army had strong experience in amphibious landings (which they had none)

bad mistake Jerk to talk smack political/military history with more intelligent and knowledgeable people. Stick to debating Lady GaGa lyrics

..had absolutely nothing to do with the two A-bombs
Obviously, you never read the Emperor's own 'surrender' speech.
Moreover, the enemy has begun to employ a new and most cruel bomb, the power of which to do damage is, indeed, incalculable, taking the toll of many innocent lives.
Gee, if it wasn't such a key factor, why mention it? Because it was. It provided the means to 'save face' and accept the inevitable that they knew they couldn't stop for over a year.

(something both the Brits and the Americans rarely ever did with the Soviets)
Second Front - check .(both on land and in the air - sucking the Luftwaffe from the Eastern Front)
Massive lend lease - check. Just google it and read up on all of it since the old Soviet archives became available in the the 90s, the old straw that it wasn't important has been pretty much subject to reevaluation.

Uncle Joey was trying to find a way to hang it up until Kursk, and Kursk only happened because of US equipment and money and UK intelligence. Even then, Joey would have hung it up had the US/UK not opened a second front in a timely manner.
Love the story about the soviet soldier who went off to war believing Russia Strong! and finds out all the transportation equipment is American. You can argue that taking away one of the three Allies and the effort fails, but Joey the Clown all by his lonesome wins the war? No UK, and all those bombers hitting London and Malta are headed east. Germans take Suez, Middle East, then kick Russia right in the Caucasus from two directions. No USA, no mobile infantry and no money in the crucial opening stages and no Pacific Fleet to pin Japan from taking Kamchatka and opening an Eastern Front.
Sovi Joey had so much going for him - simple political structure, home field advantage, weather advantage, foreign aid, numbers, short supply lines, pretty nice tank T-34, defensive urban battles, overconfident enemy political command and plans, undersupplied enemy, etc etc and they still only barely manage to defeat the Germans. Flogging your horde of troops to be first in Berlin casualties be damned may be some Teutonic thing I don't understand, and that rounding up millions of dissenters post-war is some progressive thing I don't understand, but you are saying that is what victory looks like? Perhaps you could explain how much different the Soviet Union would have been had not all those citizens been killed and discussion silenced?
Eastern Germany looks like crap compared to Western Germany, why is that? You probably will say running capitalist greed pigs, and if you give that you must also give that East Germany is the result of Government Greed.

...the biggest historical fraud is that America won WWII...actually the Soviet Union did...
The Soviet Union spent a lot of blood and treasure. The Russians can and should be proud of what they did during the war.
But a significant portion of that loss of blood and treasure can be laid at the Soviets' feet. Consider the purge of general and field grade officers prior to the war. And someone seems to have conveniently forgotten the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, eh?
Oh, and a timeline:
April 13, 1941 - The neutrality pact between the Soviet Union and Japan was concluded.
March 07, 1945 - Japanese forces of Iwo Jima effectively eliminated.
April 29, 1945 - The Soviet Government makes known to the Government of Japan its wish to denounce the neutrality pact.
Aug 08, 1945 - Soviets declare war on Japan effective Aug 09 1945.
August 09, 1945 - The Soviets invade Manchuria.
Aug 09, 1945 - Atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki.
Aug 10, 1945 Japan accepts Potsdam terms, agrees to unconditional surrender.
There is an excellent executive summary available of the Manchurian operation.

and preparing an invasion of the Japanese mainland from the north. That was always Imperial Japan's greatest fear.
That's weird. Seems Stalin was unwilling to move his Siberian troops back west because Stalin feared Japan a lot more than the obverse.
You forget that lil' ole Japan had overrun most of Asia by December 7th, and Stalin was worried they may be next, and why he refused to move 8 field armies (40 rifle divisions!) to rescue his capital from Hitler's Case Typhoon in late 1941.
oh Jerkface is our new troll and occasional chewtoy (as in this thread). Rather low quality even for a troll - he only spouts socialist talking points as you can see - no facts or anything. I think he has a string in his back and when someone pulls it... well it's not very pretty.
On a scale of 1 (lowest) to 10 (highest) I give him a 2 - mostly out of pity for the poor thing.
[THEHILL] A Republican senator called Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius the "laughingstock of America" after she was lampooned on "Saturday Night Live."
The sketch, which aired Saturday, poked fun at Sebelius's attempts to downplay serious problems with ObamaCare's enrollment website.
Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) referred to the skit Sunday during an appearance on ABC's "This Week."
"She's lost considerable credibility," Barrasso said of Sebelius. "She's the laughingstock of America."
Sebelius has experienced a wave of scrutiny since HealthCare.gov debuted with major problems on Oct. 1.
She has also drawn fire for certain public comments, like saying she did not know how many people had enrolled under ObamaCare during an interview with Comedy Central's Jon Stewart.
Sebelius also said last week that she "does not work" for people calling for her resignation. Even if they are citizens...
The health secretary was the target of several Republican attacks during the Sunday shows, just a few days before she appears before a House committee to talk about the rollout.
Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), a leader on the panel that will host Sebelius, said the former governor will testify on Wednesday before she's "out the door."
But the secretary received a defense from Sen. Joe Manchin (W-Va.), a Democrat who is leading the charge to delay ObamaCare's individual mandate. Manchin flatly denied that Sebelius should leave office and praised her record as Kansas insurance commissioner and governor.
"She's very capable of bringing people together," Manchin told ABC. "I think she ... will get the job done."

Seriously, every government contract I've ever worked on insisted on 3 months of testing before going into production. The very fact they started testing 2 weeks before the deadline should have told everyone that production should have been delayed.
The fact that QA testing failed should have told them production should be delayed indefinitely. Sebelius (or Obama) are the only ones who could have over-ridden this.

The tribal wisdom of the Lakota Sioux, passed on from generation to generation, says that, "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount."
However, in government, education, and in corporate America, more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:
1. Buying a stronger whip.
2. Changing riders.
3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.
4. Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.
5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.
6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.
7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse..
8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.
9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase dead horse's performance.
10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.
11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.
12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.
And of course the most common ......
13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

Poor girl thought she was going to be a cabinet level secretary and now she finds they were just setting her up to take the fall. In all fairness, healthcare.gov is Obama's little tar baby and it belongs on his doorstep. I think if I was Sebelius I'd buy a one way ticket for the next plane back to Kansas.

Hey, she ain't welcome here. Send her back to her carpetbagging political dynastic family in Ohio.
Sebelius is a total in the bag machine part who knows she is likely at the apex of her political career. She will take the sword in exchange for a cush position at a Chicago Hospital. $10 says she would say it failed because she is a typical Kansas racist not because she would, but because if she is told to, she will. After Obama's casualty flub the progs had to double down and Sebelius waited three days to say anything while the story was formulated, discussed, and executed and the line was people died because Bush had the Kansas Guard in Iraq, when in fact there was a detachment there than morning and the KANG unit which was overseas was a transport unit (turned into mounted infantry). Any doubts were settled when the KANG returned and Sebelius snubbed them for a ticker tape parade in Lawrence.
Everyone who wants to know, knows this is bull. Obama signed his signiture legislation with what 57 pens and handed them out as souviners to this Big Fn Deal and we are supposed to believe that Obama was shocked that the Silver Mullet didn't come through and that people watch the morning news two weeks before launch knew more about it?
