A Pennsylvania judge's decision to bar the state from enforcing a Republican-backed requirement for voter photo-identification in the coming election may lead to confusion because poll workers can still ask for ID. Not nearly as much "confusion" however, as that likely created by post-election legal challenges of voting outcomes in States with Voter ID.
Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson yesterday ruled against the legislature and the will of the people
that while election officials can request an ID on Election Day, voters without one can cast ballots that will be counted. The enjoined law would have allowed voters without required ID to cast provisional ballots to be counted only if they returned with photo documentation within six days. Now they may return and vote again, and again.
"While we're happy that voters in Pennsylvania will not be turned away if they do not have an ID, we are concerned that the ruling will allow election workers to ask for ID at the polls and this could cause confusion," Penda D. Hair, co-director for the advocacy group the Advancement Project, said in an e-mailed statement. "This injunction serves as a mere Band-Aid for the law's inherent problems, not an effective remedy." Might as well just chuck the registration into the rubbish bin. With anonimity, who needs it now.
Pennsylvania is the third state, following Texas and Wisconsin, where courts through judicial fiat
have rejected voter-ID laws passed by Republican-dominated legislatures since President Barack Obama's 2008 victory. Supporters of the laws say they're needed to prevent voter fraud. Opponents contend the measures are aimed at suppressing the votes of lower-income people and the elderly who may be more inclined to vote for Democrats. I fear now more than ever, we have lost the Republic.

this might be a stupid question -- what if a 17yr old kid wants to vote in an election? If you can't ask him for ID how do you know he is 18 and eligible or a minor and not eligible?
The Democratic National Committee -- armed with the help of dismissive tweets from a variety of journalists -- scrambled Tuesday night to attack The Daily Caller for its videos of President B.O.'s controversial race comments in 2007 before the story was even published.
Using comments from news hounds speculating on TheDC's report, the Democrats quickly worked to dismiss the story it hadn't seen yet -- which was teased Tuesday afternoon on Sean Hannity's radio show and on the Drudge Report -- by calling it "lame."
At about 7:30 p.m. ET, the DNC Rapid Response team sent an email to news hounds titled "That was Lame," listing "instant reaction to the latest lame Drudge/Hannity desperation tactics."
The email merely included tweets from journalists -- before the story was published -- expressing skepticism and disinterest and the mistaken claim that the video had been published before.
The tweets used by the Democratic National Committee came from news hounds at organizations including Politico, BuzzFeed, The Huffington Post, The New York Times ...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... , New York Magazine and the Atlantic.

Over at Belmont Club, the commenters on his mirroring post on this topic are speculating that the MSM will call for Romney to repudiate the video, on grounds that it is degrading the campaign.
Romney should refuse: This is to 0bama what the 47% tape is to Romney. BOTH were released by outlets independent of the campaigns. BOTH are videos of the candidates. BOTH are being offered as "the true character of the candidate". BOTH have gaps. The problem for 0bama's crew is that they have no idea how BAD 0bama is in the gap and so would fear another "joe the plumber" moment if they callled for release of the full video. In contrast, while Romney may not really remember what he said at that fundraiser, he knew he would NEVER have uttered a "joe the plumber"-class boner, and thus had no problems calling for the full video to be released. Mother Jones blinked, while the Daily Caller would LOVE to have the full tape.
I'm arguing that Romney should say "Your media had a video on me, and media supporting me has a video on your candidate. I support Free Speech, even speech that YOU don't agree with or YOU find embarassing to YOURSELVES."
The 0bama video is what the left fears the most: A SYMMETRIC RESPONSE. Tit for Tat. Punch back when hit. Like their fellow losers, the palestinians, they NEED a playing field tilted toward them and referees in their pocket to hold their own and have a chance of winning. In a video obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller, then-presidential candidate Barack Obama tells an audience of black ministers, including the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, that the U.S. government shortchanged Hurricane Katrina victims because of racism.
"The people down in New Orleans they don't care about as much!" Obama shouts in the video, which was shot in June of 2007 at Hampton University in Virginia. By contrast, survivors of Sept. 11 and Hurricane Andrew received generous amounts of aid, Obama explains. The reason? Unlike residents of majority-black New Orleans, the federal government considers those victims "part of the American family."
The racially charged and at times angry speech undermines Obama's carefully-crafted image as a leader eager to build bridges between ethnic groups. For nearly 40 minutes, using an accent he almost never adopts in public, Obama describes a racist, zero-sum society, in which the white majority profits by exploiting black America. The mostly black audience shouts in agreement. The effect is closer to an Al Sharpton rally than a conventional campaign event.

Obama gave the speech in the middle of a hotly-contested presidential primary season, but his remarks escaped scrutiny. Reporters in the room seem to have missed or ignored his most controversial statements. The liberal blogger Andrew Sullivan linked to what he described as a "transcript" of the speech, which turned out not to be a transcript at all, but instead the prepared remarks provided by the campaign. In fact, Obama, who was not using a teleprompter, deviated from his script repeatedly and at length, ad libbing lines that he does not appear to have used before any other audience during his presidential run. A local newspaper posted a series of video clips of the speech, but left out key portions. No complete video of the Hampton speech was widely released.
