this is Sheriff Dupnick's territory. You remember him? The attention whore that blamed Gabby Gifford's shooting on right wing Republicans. Incompetent f*cker. They are trying to scuttle any inquiry by stonewalling.

Apparently SWAT came in and shot the marine - then left the building. When the wife called 911 there was some confusion on weather her address was one on the SWAT hit list.
Why was there any confusion? Was the confusion caused by the wife's account (they came in and shot my husband my address is.....) and the address on the SWAT list? The raid list showing a different address than what the woman stated?
Then, having plugged the guy 60 times - and holding the gun on the wife - they left the house, and the wife - claiming it was was a barricated person situation?
Who knows what happened. Looks like the sheriff dept is covering their ass - OTOH there might really be an ongoing investigation.

What I want to know is if the Marines are putting on pressure on the County. A marine was killed in his home, by all rights defending his family. I also predict the sheriff will not have his job come the next election. I further predict this will be Exhibit A when the Indiana Supreme Court ruling reaches the US Supreme Court.

That is just disgusting.
Iblis: you are right
Lying cops. Disgusting. "he fired at us" becomes... the safety catch was still on.
That is just the most disgraceful thing. I am so sorry for that poor lady and child that will now grow up without a father, who was a good-looking, upright young man.

Exactly my feeling. I can't help but wonder if they went to the wrong house. The guy had a family, job, and was a marine - to me that makes him rather unlikely to be in the drug trade. (But then I'm not an alledged 'expert') But that's just me. Just doesn't seem right. And the way the SWAT left the building apparently _after_ securing it.
Police seized a bank account was controlled by Al-Idu Al-Gaheem, the owner of some Dayton View neighborhood businesses and Imam of a local mosque, according to search warrant affidavits filed in a series of food stamp fraud raids Tuesday.
The account contained less than $100,000 in it at the time of the seizure, but authorities believe Al-Gaheem illegally laundered $2 million through the account. Most of the money is alleged to have come from illegal Food Stamp trafficking.
Federal and state informants bought drugs and firearms and sold food stamp cards for cash, generally 50 cents on the dollar of benefits during an investigation that began in 2009.
Warrants were served at Riverview Cell & Cup of Dreams, Five Pillars Market, and agents searched the Masjid-At-Taqwa mosque and the nearby house of the mosque's Imam, Al-Gaheen. Five Pillars, and Riverview Cell & Cup of Dreams are owned by Al-Gaheem, who declined to comment Wednesday.
No charges have been filed and no one was arrested.
Al-Gaheem stated in his initial application to handle the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp program, the store/cafe's annual income was $70,000 a year.
Yet from January 2009 through November 2010, Five Pillars received $2.5 million from the program.
In addition, Gross stated in the affidavit that $910,000 in cash was withdrawn by Al-Gaheem from the bank account between Feb. 13, 2010, and Nov. 30, 2010. Further analysis showed that 96 percent of the $2.7 million in the account on Nov. 10. 2010, came from food stamp payments from the federal government. How much of it went to the Widows Ammunition Fund charity in Gaza?
Using various formulas, Gross said accounting experts concluded that anywhere from $895,861 to almost $2 million, depending on the store's markup, in food stamp charges could not be explained.
Confidential informants went to Five Pillars Market and were able to purchase counterfeit brand-name clothing items and cigarettes using food stamp cards, purchase a handgun from a store employee for $500, sell food stamp benefits to a store employee for cash, and purchase $1,500 worth of crack cocaine from an employee.
Additional raids at Food City, a convenience store, and A&M Meats Inc., were not related to those at Al-Gaheem's businesses but court records indicate a similar pattern in alleged illegal activity.
Ali Saleh, the owner of Food City, said Wednesday he had no knowledge that one of his employees was allegedly engaged in illegal activity. "I am very, very innocent," Saleh said. "I had nothing to do with this. I know it was my store, but it was out of my control."
Store management for A&M Meats, Inc., declined comment.
Omar Yahya, kitchen manager for Five Pillars Market, who allegedly sold the informant a handgun for $500, said Wednesday he did nothing illegal and the business is a pillar of the community.
"Somebody must have put the bug in the wrong ear, because I don't know anyone in that store that would (sell crack cocaine). I am not saying we are angels, but ... It's not like we have a store that is a front for some other illegal operation." "I'm a respectable businessman. I own a flower shop", said the Mafiosa underboss.

I wonder if he was making any Zakat payments to any charities, that might be - say a bit questionable.
I hope they go through the books carefully just to be safe.

Using surveillance, confidential informants and the monitoring of the account, IRS Special Agent Marcia L. Gross said Al-Gaheem stated in his initial application to handle the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamp program, the store/cafes annual income was $70,000 a year. Yet from January 2009 through November 2010, Five Pillars received $2.5 million from the program...No charges have been filed and no one was arrested.
IRS investigation--but no FBI investigation into the mosque.

I am absolutely certain Erik Holder and the Justice Department are looking into this, freezing back accounts, seizing cars and propterty under RICO statutes, etc, etc, etc.
The cofounder of a group supporting a US Army private accused of leaking classified information to WikiLeaks filed a lawsuit yesterday accusing the Department of Homeland Security of violating his civil rights by seizing his laptop without a warrant last fall when he passed through airport security in Chicago.
David House, 24, a computer programmer and former MIT researcher who lives in Cambridge, asserts in the suit filed in US District Court in Boston that federal agents seized his laptop, USB storage device, video camera, and cellphone Nov. 3, when he arrived at OHare International Airport after a vacation in Mexico.

I think the first woman was spot on about women shooting better. It was an Old West gunslinger rule that a well aimed shot was a lot more likely to win than a quick draw, and women are far less to have bad gun habits they picked up as children, so when given instruction, they follow it.

Australia also has extremely high rates of skin cancer, with all the climate change pseudoscientists blaming the ozone hole on CO2 emissions and prompting the naked Meghan McCain ads for sunscreen, but this sounds a more likely cause to me. Sunscreen blocks Vit. D, but neither protect against radiation.
This is a well-researched, extremely well put-together piece of journalism.
It traces people's stories that were swept under the carpet and ignored by successive Australian governments.
This is what happens when you ingest radioactive particles, and are exposed to gamma radiation.
Skin cancer is caused by UV radiation: ultra-violet radiation. It is different to penetrating gamma radiation. Gamma radiation passes through your body. UV radiation is stopped at your skin. Sunscreen works as it contains (usually) zinc particles which deflect the UV rays.

ahhh now the question: will they give it back to the people of Tunisia? non?
[Iran Press TV] The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives has defied the American administration by voting for the expansion of offshore oil drilling amid concerns over soaring gasoline prices.
The controversial draft bill to expand offshore oil drilling was backed by 243 politicians, while 179 voted against it, AFP reported on Thursday.
Democrats have slammed the bill, saying that it would only bring massive contributions to oil companies, a year after the massive and environmentally disastrous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The bill is reportedly not expected to win passage in the US Senate.
The oil drilling measure comes as US gasoline prices are currently leveled at around $4 per gallon. US President Barack B.O. Obama has warned that the bill poses a threat to the country's struggling economy.
Areas in the Outer Continental Shelf such as waters off Caliphornia, Alaska, and the eastern US coast are among those to be targeted by the bill.
Obama has recently called on Congress to end tax breaks for oil and gas companies as they enjoy huge profits.
Meanwhile, ...back at the pound, Zebulon finally found just the friend he'd been looking for... the White House is worried that the high oil prices along with a number of other economic woes could dominate next year's presidential election campaigns.

I like Big Oil. I LOVE Big Oil Companies. I like the Freedom Big Oil Companies give me if they can give me a gallon of gas for a reasonable price. What I detest is Big Goverment who will take every opportunity to intrude on my freedoms quicker than any Big Oil company ever has.

The French political bigshot who heads the International Monetary Fund was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a Manhattan hotel maid today -- getting hauled off an Air France flight just moments before takeoff from Kennedy Airport, police sources told The Post. Three Port Authority detectives pulled Dominique Strauss-Kahn from the plane's first-class cabin just two minutes before it was due to depart for Paris, the sources said.
Strauss-Kahn, 62, was turned over to NYPD officers from the Midtown South precinct, and the case is being investigated by the Special Victims Unit.
The trouble began around noon today, when a housekeeper entered Strauss-Kahn's room at the Sofitel on West 44th Street.
Strauss-Kahn was in his bathroom, said sources. He emerged from the bathroom naked, said the sources, and grabbed her. Then, Strauss-Kahn allegedly threw the housekeeper on the room's bed and forced her to perform oral sex on him, said the sources.
Strauss-Kahn let the maid leave -- and soon afterward, hightailed headed off to Kennedy Airport for his flight to Paris.
The NYPD's special victims unit is investigating the case, the sources said.
His arrest tonight could force him to postpone a planned meeting in Berlin on Sunday with German chancellor Angela Merkel.
Strauss-Kahn, a leader of France's Socialist Party, is the leading rival to President Nicholas Sarkozy in the 2012 election.
Sarkozy was said in a news report yesterday to have begun a smear campaign against his rival that focused on his lavish lifestyle -- including Strauss-Kahn's purchase of suits from the same tailor who clothes President Obama.
But Strauss-Kahn seems able to find trouble on his own. In 2008, he publicly admitted to "an error of judgment" for having an affair with an IMF subordinate.
[Straits Times] MALAYSIA'S government reprimanded the country's top Malay-language newspaper over an article alleging a Christian plot to supplant Islam as the official religion.
Opposition and ruling party politicians called on Friday for sterner action including suspending Utusan Malaysia or its editor for stoking ethnic and religious tensions.
Allegations by two political bloggers about a conspiracy by church leaders received little attention until Utusan reported it on its front page last Saturday under the headline 'Malaysia a Christian nation?' Christian leaders slammed the accusation as a lie intended to create suspicion between ethnic Malay Mohammedans and religious minorities.
The Home Ministry on Thursday issued a letter of warning to Utusan, owned by Prime Minister Najib Razak's Malay ruling party, for publishing news 'alarming to the public' but didn't censure the newspaper or its editors.
Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, who heads the Malaysian Chinese Association, the second largest party in the ruling coalition, said a mere warning letter was insufficient and called for Utusan's editor to be suspended and action taken against the two bloggers if the report was indeed false. 'We hope that the government will not compromise and should uphold justice and send the message to Malaysians that religion should not be used in the political battle,'Dr Chua said.
Utusan legal adviser Mohamad Jeffery Daman said the newspaper would await the results of a police investigation but declined to say if it stands by the report.
