Man calls 911 after Subway left sauce off sandwich
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Jacksonville police say Reginald Peterson needs to learn that 911 is not the appropriate place to complain that Subway left the sauce off a spicy Italian sandwich. Police said the 42-year-old man dialed 911 twice last week so he could have his sub made correctly. The second call was to complain that officers weren't arriving fast enough.
Subway workers told police Peterson became belligerent and yelled when they were fixing his order. They locked him out of the store after he left to call police. When officers arrived, they tried to calm Peterson and explain the proper use of 911. Those efforts failed, and he was arrested on a charge of making false 911 calls.
Peterson did not have a listed phone number.
No kidding.

TAMPA - When Carlos Jose Gutierrez lost money in a sl0t machine at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casin0 early this morning, deputies say he didn't just walk away. He called 911. To report that a sl0t machine stole his money.
Shortly after midnight, Gutierrez was told by dispatchers that the sl0t machine did not steal his money and that it was a crime to call 911 to report that it did. After acknowledging that his call to 911 was wrong, Gutierrez left the casin0 and walked across the street.
Then he called 911 again to report that a sl0t machine stole his money.
This time, Gutierrez, 47, of 5613 Halifax Drive, was arrested and charged with making a false 911 call, a misdemeanor. Described in jail records as a self-employed investor, Gutierrez is being held at the Orient Road Jail with no bail set. He was on felony probation when arrested, according to jail records.
A self employed investor? Sounds like he invests his welfare check in sl0t machines and casin0 booze.

In my town recently there was an elderly woman who regularly called 911 to complain when her Meals-on-Wheels delivery was late. This went on for several months before stopping - still not sure what stopped it.
A prominent Australian politician has resigned after his sexual antics were made public. Troy Buswell, leader of the opposition Liberal Party in the state of Western Australia, admitted in April that he had once sniffed the chair on which a female colleague had been sitting. He also admitted that he had fiddled with the bra of another colleague. Mr Buswell says he is resigning because he wants the next state election to take place unhampered by "cheap personality-based politics".
I hear he's gonna open a bike rental agency.

It is being dubbed the new "bullet-proof bra", a new kind of Wonderbra which could help protect thousands of women police officers here in Germany.
It may sound like a joke, but this is a serious matter - the policewoman who came up with the idea said normal bras can be dangerous when worn in combination with a bullet-proof vest.
"The impact of a bullet can push the metal and plastic bits of the bra into an officer's body, causing serious injury," said Carmen Kibat, an adviser on equal opportunities for the Hamburg-based Bundespolizei - Germany's federal police force.
"I always thought normal bras posed a safety risk and I wanted to change that," she said.
"These new bras are very important and they will help all our women officers."
Dozens of German policewomen have already tested the new bras and, after a two-month long trial, the underwear is being issued to officers as part of their uniform.
Under a vest
So what do the new bras look like?
Well, looking similar to sports bras, the new bras are white, made from cotton or polyester and padded. They also have the word "Police" printed at the bottom.
Crucially, though, the bras do not have any under-wire or fastener made out of metal or plastic.
From now on, women police officers will be allowed to pick three bras from a range of designs, varying in size and style.
"These new bras represent pioneering work," said Ruediger Carstens, a spokesman for the Bundespolizei. "It shows that the safety of our officers is a top priority."
In all, more than 3,000 front-line women police officers across Germany are being encouraged to wear the new bras on duty.
So that includes female officers deployed at airports, train stations, or those deployed at border crossings.
But at the end of the day, it is up to each individual officer to decide whether she will go for the latest "bullet-proof" lingerie - a police spokesman was keen to point out that the new bras "are optional".
Poo and pee dominated a public hearing Monday on a new law that prohibits people from carrying certain items if they intend to use them for nefarious purposes.
The law, crafted in advance of the Democratic National Convention, was adopted unanimously by the City Council.
But not before a hearing laced with comedy and profanity.
Representatives from some of the groups planning large-scale protests during the DNC this month said the ordinance was unnecessary and accused city officials of fear mongering.
"The intent of this ordinance is to try to smear protesters and make them look as if they are somehow criminal or somehow going to engage in some kind of gross conduct," said Glenn Spagnuolo, an organizer with the Re- create 68 Alliance.
The ordinance makes it illegal to carry certain items, such as chains, padlocks, carabiners and other locking devices. It also prohibits the possession of noxious substances. Two of the most frequently used examples of a noxious substance are a bucket of urine and a "feces bomb."

An Israeli couple left their four-year-old daughter behind at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv today.
Oooh! Oooh! I seen this movie!
The couple were already 45 minutes into their flight with their five other children before they were told their daughter had been found in the departure hall. As the family were among the last passengers to enter the plane, the little girl was probably forgotten in the rush. A few hours later she was flown to Paris under the supervision of a stewardess.

Wow, it must be pretty expensive to fly 6 kids internationally. My four have never even been been on a plane (even to visit their grandparents in our capital city) due to the cost.

Whenever I read a story like this I marvel how my mother once crossed nearly half of India by train in charge of 11 kids, 6 or hers plus 5 friends, alone (my father having already missed the train) and got all to their destination safely.

You know things are bad when you're moving to China to work illegally.
Firms that employ foreigners without work permits could face fines of up to 50,000 yuan (US$7,300), the Guangzhou public security bureau said yesterday. Many companies in Guangdong province seek to employ people from Africa, the Middle East, Vietnam and Myanmar because of low wages. What, $250/mo for locals too expensive?
The exit and entry department of the provincial bureau of public security said it planned to set up a database foreign visas, departures and entries. Why can't we do this in America?
The move is targeted at curbing the growth in foreign workers and crime, Nanfang Daily reported yesterday.
Guangdong police told China Daily that the employment of foreign workers without permits had been rising rapidly in recent years. Nanfang Daily said local companies have been told to strictly abide by relevant Chinese laws and regulations on the employment of foreigners. "Fines meted out to employers of foreigners without work permits will be as high as 50,000 yuan," the paper said.
Employers will also have to bear the cost of repatriating the illegal workers. Why can't we do this in America?
In April, police in Zhuhai discovered a company had hired 62 Vietnamese workers without proper documents. The company was fined 45,000 yuan. Guangzhou Daily said authorities in Zhuhai had investigated 18 such cases in the past year. A total of 170 Vietnamese were found without work permits.
Guangdong, as a leader in the nation's reform and opening up campaign, is a top employer of foreigners, but their illegal numbers have also been on the rise, the paper said. Last year, Guangdong police investigated 7,940 cases involving foreigners suspected of illegal immigration, residence, employment, and doing business without approved documents.
Last month, police discovered three companies in a premium office building in the city's busy Huangshi Road were employing foreigners without permission.
Zhang Jie, dean of the school of economics of Jinan University, said the number of foreigners who work in Guangdong will continue to grow because of demand. Most of them are hardworking and demand relatively low wages. "Guangdong is unable to shut down or move out all of its labor-intensive companies in the near future; that is why foreign workers are popular," Zhang said.
$250 a month? The central government-mandated minimum wage in Guangdong is $100 a month. In the interior provinces, it's $50 a month. In Vietnam? $30 a month. And in parts of Africa, the problem isn't wage levels - it's getting a job at all. The interesting thing about some restaurants in China is that I've run into Filipino lounge acts performing American standards. I suspect some of these folks are on tourist visas.

*GUAM SCOPE > despite appearances and rhetoric the contrary, 'tis more evidencias/indicias that SELF-DETERMINATION IS PROB THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE OF ALL, AND THAT GUAM'S PEOPLE MUST SOUL-SEARCH, DECIDE, AND CHOOSE ITS FINAL POLITICAL STAUS WID THE USA WHILE IT STILL CAN.
Anyone whom knows anything about USDOD/MIL PLANNING knows that the anticipated US MC RELOC to Guam is NOT inconsistent wid USDOD Plans to either stay or pull out of Guam, espec 2040-2050. IMO the telltale signs are already there that the USDOD will continue to LOCALLY PRIVATIZE WHILE ALSO DOWNSIZING VV GUAM. This is EXCLUSIVE OF ANY AND ALL OTHER REGIONAL OR INTERNATIONAL MILPOL FACTORS.
As an UNINCORPORATED US TERRITORY, Guam technically ranks one-step higher than a US MILITARY DEPARTMENT BUT ONE-STEP LOWER THAN A FULL "CORPORATED TERRITORY", AND TWO-STEPS LOWER THAN FULL "COMMONWEALTH" LEADING TO EITHER STATEHOOD OR INDEPENDENCE [or even FREE ASSOCIATION], LET ALONE A US STATE [top].

Lucknow, Aug 4: An era of gang of dacoits came to an end today with killing of the dreaded dacoit Ambika Patel alias Thokia during a fierce encounter on Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh border. The Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police has added another feather in its cap by killing Thokia.
At least 100 criminal cases of murder, kidnapping and looting were pending against Thokia in eight districts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The STF team shot dead Thokia near Cilkhan village in the Bharatkup area of Chitrakoot district after a four hour-long encounter.
The Uttar Pradesh Government had announced a reward of Rs five lakh and Madhya Pradesh Government a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head who was hiding in the jungles of two states. The STF had launched a massive combing operation against his gang after he ambushed a vehicle of the police force killing six jawans last year. The STF jawans were returning after killing another dreaded dacoit Dadua when the incident took place.
The Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh announced out-of-turn promotions for the STF personnel involved in the encounter. He claimed that other gang members would be either caught or killed. The senior superintendent of STF Amitabh Yash who supervised the operations said that this was a major success for the security personnel of the state. Investigation was being done to detect the people who were giving logistic support to the gang and supplied ammunition to its members, the DGP added.
Another dreaded dacoit Dadua who had unleashed a reign of terror in Uttar Pradesh was killed a year ago by the STF. Dadua and Thokia belong to Kurmi community and had an influence in the Bundelkhand region.
Piyeria Devi, mother of Thokia, had contested from Nairaini in Banda district on Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) ticket in the last Assembly elections.
After the encounter, the police recovered four firearms from him that included a few AK series assault rifles. The gang operated a big extortion racket in the area and even collected commission from all the development projects. They used to raise huge funds in dealing with tendu leaves.
