Police said Mexican police arrested Monterey Sgt. Jorge Matos
Isolated case I'd say. Equal opportunity and affirmative action have assisted the plight of tens of thousands of other Swedish immigrants without incident.
A TERRITORY man filmed himself speeding at 150km/h while stretching his baloney masturbating at the wheel of his drug-laden car, a court heard. His Holden SV6 was allegedly laden with 5kg of drugs, including two cannabis plants resting on the back seat, the court was told. Brendon Alan Erhardt, 39, was granted bail so he could marry his girlfriend of six months before he goes to jail.
Prosecutor Sergeant Melinda Edwards said in court the father-of-three told police he "had masturbated while driving'' just before he was stopped for speeding on the 130km/h stretch of the Stuart Hwy. "(He) also video recorded himself masturbating while travelling at a speed of 150km/h.'' Sgt Edwards said Mr Erhardt who was disqualified from driving also told officers his act was "not dangerous'' as the "only person he could hurt was himself''.
"I can prove it! Look at that blister!"
"Put that thing away, dammit!"
Darwin Magistrates Court heard Mr Erhardt was stopped by NT police 25km south of Daly Waters on July 16 for allegedly speeding at 147km/h on his way home from Adelaide. Police noticed he was "visibly agitated'', and when they told him they were going to search his Holden sedan, he said "go right ahead'', Sgt Edwards said. It is alleged that officers found 4.96kg of cannabis hidden in a blue esky in the boot, two cannabis plants on the back seat, two drug pipes and a loaded .22 rifle.

He should have driven back through Western Australia. Many times I've driven all day at 150 to 160 Ks/hour through the outback and never a cop in sight.
The only thing passing you is the occasional Japanese who has shipped his motorbike over to see how fast it will really go.

Maybe it was the sight of a guy driving a car full of Mary J and jacking off that got him stopped, not his speed. Cops tend to notice that sort of thing.

I've been drivin' all night, my hand's wet on the wheel
There's a voice in my head that drives my heel
It's my baby callin', says I need you here
And it's half past four and I'm shifting gear
When she's lonely and the longing gets too much
She sends a cable comin' in from above
We don't need no phone at all
We've got a thing that's called radar love
We've got a wave in the air, radar love
The radio's playing some forgotten song
Brenda Lee's "Coming on Strong"
The road's got me hypnotized
And I'm speeding into a new sunrise
When I get lonely, and I'm sure I've had enough
She sends her comfort, comin' in from above
Don't need no radio at all
We've got a thing that's called radar love
WeÂ’ve got a line in the sky, radar love
No more speed, I'm almost there
Gotta keep cool now, gotta take care
Last car to pass, here I go
And the line of cars drove down real slow

"Father of three" and "I can only hurt myself" does not compute.

Cannabis rots the brain... or is it playing with yourself at high speed that rots it?

bad move, especially with a windy road and a spoked steering wheel. Especially if you drop the joint in your lap. Ask Kevin at A5089 about The Dude in The Big Lebowski ;-)

...masturbating at the wheel of his drug-laden car, a court heard. His Holden SV6 was allegedly laden with 5kg of drugs, including two cannabis plants resting on the back seat
Hey, I thought I would distract attention from the drugs by speeding and masturbating. O.K., so it wasn't such a great plan. It was fun while it lasted...
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Officials at a small Civil War museum made an intriguing discovery while sifting through storage: A document long treated as a photo reproduction of the terms of Gen. Robert E. Lee's surrender appears, upon closer inspection, to contain actual signatures and date to 1865.
Museum officials believe they have one of the three original documents signed by representatives of the Union and Confederacy in Appomattox Court House, Va., on April 10, 1865, a day after Lee's surrender.
The National Park Service historian at Appomattox said it's more likely a souvenir copy signed by the same men at that time--still a significant discovery, he said, even if it's not an official copy.

All of these documents are forgeries. The South did not surrender, and will never surrender! The whole myth of the North winning the War Between the States has been perpetrated by ...
Long article and I got tired (and depressed) so the snarky stuff stops in the middle..When will we learn...
I'm mildly surprised the Chronicle took this on.
As San Francisco's juvenile justice system shielded young illegal immigrant felons from possible deportation, Mayor Gavin Newsom's office gave grants totaling more than $650,000 to nonprofit agencies to provide the underage offenders with free services - everything from immigration attorneys to housing assistance to "arts and cultural affirmation activities," city records show.
This is one of the less-explored links between liberal government officials and NGOs at the local level: NGOs take government money to provide 'services', and in return ensure a steady stream of votes and campaign contributions. I'll just bet that if you checked it out, you'd find that the leaders of the NGOs in question have been making contributions to Newsom and other key officials in San Fran.
This in fact is how Richie Daley in Chicago has stayed in power -- he doesn't have a patronage army like his old man had, but he's got the modern version of it.
Newsom has said the city began its policy of not referring young immigrant offenders to federal authorities for deportation under previous mayors, and that he reversed the practice after he decided to run for gov became aware of it this year. However, in 2006, the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice - a community outreach arm of Newsom's office - created a grant program specifically designed to assist, rather than deport, "undocumented, unaccompanied and monolingual" immigrants who were in the custody of the city's Juvenile Probation Department or on juvenile probation, according to city documents.

Supermodels have it all - looks, money and some powerful admirers who are willing to change US law so they can pass more easily through border controls.
Anthony Weiner, a member of the US House of Representatives, is pressing for the creation of a new kind of visa that would keep the catwalks of New York and Los Angeles packed with exotic foreign beauties. With annual limits on the number of visas for foreigners with special talents, models find themselves competing against computer geeks and scientists for access.
Weiner, 43, denied he was campaigning in the hope of meeting Naomi Campbell or Giselle Bundchen. "Current visa laws are . . . a mess, and representative Weiner hopes by taking models out of the equation and into their own category to relieve some pressures on every area of business," said an aide.

Our visa laws totally suck. We keep out the people we should be letting in, and the only people who get rewarded are the illegals.
All I can say is this is a horrible practice where many women end up dying due to infections and makes sex very painful for these woman.
Just another practice of striking down women by the religion of pieces. Stupid stupid stupid.
SULTAN ZAWYIT, Egypt (AP) - In this small Nile River farming village, Maha Mohammed has started to doubt whether she should circumcise her two daughters. A year ago, she had few qualms about female genital mutilation, the practice of cutting a girl's clitoris and sometimes other genitalia. She herself was cut two decades ago, and she fears her daughters will not find husbands otherwise.
But Mohammed also has heard that circumcision can be medically risky and emotionally painful. And a strong-willed neighbor, another woman, has been dropping by her house regularly to persuade her to say no. "I hear that girls suffer not just physically but psychologically," the 31-year-old Mohammed said. "But I am afraid. I don't want my daughters to have uncontrollable demands for sex."
Such doubts are significant. With vigorous grass-roots campaigns and the passage of tough laws against circumcision, Egypt seems to be making a dent in this deeply ingrained practice, thousands of years old. The number of young girls circumcised is now steadily declining in a country where an estimated 96 percent of married Egyptian women have had their genitals cut.
A member of the Saudi religious police has been accused of having six wives at the same time - two more than allowed under religious laws, reports say.
The 56-year-old was detained in south-western Jizan province, according to the Saudi newspaper al-Watan. Three of the women involved were Saudis and the other three were from Yemen, just over the border, it reported. The accused denies the women are all currently his wives and says he has divorced two of them. Muslim men can keep up to four wives at a time under sharia, or Islamic law, which is applied in Saudi Arabia.
Members of the Saudi Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice are expected to enforce the kingdom's strict interpretation of Islam, particularly regarding relations between the sexes.

TOKYO: A U.S. nuclear-powered submarine may have leaked a small amount of radiation as it stopped by Japan in the spring and was then deployed throughout the Pacific Ocean, the Japanese government said Saturday. The Japanese government said that it was informed Friday by the U.S. Navy that the submarine, the USS Houston, may have discharged an amount of radiation that was too small to be considered harmful.
The submarine spent a week in March in Sasebo, in western Japan, before cruising to Guam and then Hawaii, where the leak was discovered during an inspection late last month, the Japanese government said.
The chief government spokesman, Nobutaka Machimura, said at a news conference that the radioactive amount - estimated at less than half a microcurie - was too insignificant to "affect the human body or the environment."

All nuclear reactors leak radiation. No shielding is perfect. OH, wait you mean the sub leaked radioactive material. That's different. That isn't supposed to happen. We nukes used to say "Radiation is to crud (radioactive material) as stink is to s#!t. You can't see the first but it's just as deadly." ;P

"less than half a microcurie"
Equivalent to less than one microgram of radium. A typical radium-dial watch (common until the late 1960's) might have contained approximately 0.1 microcuries, so that's less than ten watches worth. So this Japanese hysteria is pretty much nonsense. Now for the watch dial painters who were licking their brush tips to keep the points sharp, that's another story.
Australian doctors have raised concerns about clinics offering coozie vaginal cosmetic surgery, warning the trend towards so-called "designer vaginas" may be exploiting vulnerable women.
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists said procedures being offered included "vaginal rejuvenation, revirgination, designer vaginoplasty and G-spot amplification".
"What is involved in these procedures is often unclear since recognised clinical nomenclature is not being used," it said in a position paper released this week.

Barack Obama got into a heated exchange with a group of protesters during a speech in Florida on Friday who accused him of ignoring the black community. The commotion started when three young black men stood up in the middle of Obama's address on economic security, holding a banner that asked, "What about the black community, Obama?"
As the men starting shouting, Obama turned around and tried to calm down the crowd, which booed in response to the protesters and initially prevented Obama from continuing with his speech.
After the crowd started chanting "Yes we can," drowning out the three men, Obama scolded them. "Young man, this is going to be a question and answer session -- you can ask your questions after ... sit down," he said. "You don't want to disrupt the whole meeting. Be courteous, that's all."

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE, N.D. -- The first B-52H Stratofortress reaches retirement after more than 45 years of dedicated service to the United States July 24 here on its final flight to Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz. "It is a truly sad time when we decommission a plane," said Lt. Col. Bill Stahl, 5th Maintenance Group deputy commander. "But, the aircraft has served her country well."
The B-52H with tail number LA1023 was built in 1961 and assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing at Barksdale AFB, La., but was here due to parking shortages at Barksdale AFB. It is the first of 18 B-52Hs selected by Air Combat Command to retire. Every two weeks a B-52H will be retired, alternating between here and the 2nd BW in an effort to maximize funding for the aging assets.
"It is easier and cheaper to modify and maintain 76 planes, than to keep all 94 up and running," said Master Sgt. Curtis Jensen, 5th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron production superintendent.

OK, in that picture, there is a line of bombs coming out of the bomb bay. Where did the other 3 come from?

Interesting. The three look like they were dropped in air; the big long string looks like they were dropped in a vacuum. Or the B-52 was in hover mode...

A polio case was reported in Bajaur Agency on Saturday, the second such case in the last four days. Bajaur Health Department chief Dr Jehanzeb Dawar told reporters that the virus was found in a year-old girl in the Nawagai area, 30 kilometres from Khar. Dawar said the victim had been given polio drops on four counts in the past. However, he added, the girl's parents were reluctant to immunise her in the last six months.
