Facing child porn charges, radio host breached court monitoring rules
MARCH 5--The San Francisco radio host facing child pornography charges lied to federal officials about his whereabouts after investigators recently received an alert that he had violated his "electronic monitoring schedule." Bernard Ward's bail violations are mentioned in a February 28 "status memorandum" sent by a pretrial services officer to Judge Maria Elena James (the memo provided James with an account of Ward's first months under electronic monitoring). The document, a copy of which you'll find below, does not describe where Ward, 56, went on December 21, when officials discovered his bail violation. During a subsequent court hearing, Ward admitted the monitoring violation and acknowledged giving "false information to Pretrial Services regarding his whereabouts" when first confronted by federal agents. The government memo notes that Ward was "strongly admonished" by James, who did not revoke his $250,000 bail package, which, among other things, limits his contact with children, imposes a curfew, and confines him to his home (except when he takes his children to and from school or when he goes to work). Following his arrest, Ward was fired from his job at KGO Radio, though last week he told a pretrial services officer that "there is still a chance" that he may be allowed to "return to work in the near future."
I'm afraid the scum bag is getting preferential treatment, could you or I lie to Federal Agents and then admit it to the Court without having our bail revoked?

Saw the police report on the alleged incidents. It is nasty and it is sick, and it even involves his own kids, or his fantacy in his lines of chat. Hell's fires need to be stoked for these kinds of people.

It's unfortunate that this scumbag might be allowed back on the radio again while Melanie Morgan, a 560 KSFO (KGO's right wing oriented sister station) talk show host and one of the founders of Move America Forward, lost her job Monday (contract not renwed by Citadel Broadcasting as part of their "cost cutting measures").
Hugo sends "tank battalions" to the border? Gazprom threatens to cut the Ukraine's gas imports by half? Small potatoes compared to this Italian perfidy!

According to the latest statistics, Italian olive production fell by 15 per cent last year, and the country does not produce enough olive oil to feed its domestic market.
Illegal Italian olive oil? Doing the work Italians won't do. [Gee, I've heard something like that somewhere else :) ]

I popped into the grocery store this afternoon, because I'm actually going to cook dinner tonight. I noticed that a number of the pricier olive oils were marked as being wholly Italian, while others were labelled as made in Italy of oils or olives from several countries. No doubt there will be a cascading effect to the groceries and gourmet food stores.
Icerigger, I'm sure Wegman's olive oil tastes like crap because it's made from cheap olives in presses that aren't cleaned quite often enough. I like Carapelli and Colavita. I think one claims to be Italian, the other is made in Italy from mixed sources.
Old meme, 'Jesus was a mushroom' has been around a couple decades.
High on Mount Sinai, Moses was on psychedelic drugs when he heard God deliver the Ten Commandments, an Israeli researcher claimed in a study published this week. "You were up there a long time, Moses. Are you sure you remember everything?"
"Dude, I took notes!"
Such mind-altering substances formed an integral part of the religious rites of Israelites in biblical times, Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem wrote in the Time and Mind journal of philosophy. C'mon, share!
"As far Moses on Mount Sinai is concerned, it was either a supernatural cosmic event, which I don't believe, or a legend, which I don't believe either, or finally, and this is very probable, an event that joined Moses and the people of Israel under the effect of narcotics," Shanon told Israeli public radio on Tuesday.
Moses was probably also on drugs when he saw the "burning bush," suggested Shanon, who said he himself has dabbled with such substances. For purely academic reasons, of course.
"The Bible says people see sounds, and that is a clasic phenomenon," he said citing the example of religious ceremonies in the Amazon in which drugs are used that induce people to "see music." That's old. With today's stuff, you can even hear the colors!
He mentioned his own experience when he used ayahuasca, a powerful psychotropic plant, during a religious ceremony in Brazil's Amazon forest in 1991. "I experienced visions that had spiritual-religious connotations," Shanon said.
He said the psychedelic effects of ayahuasca were comparable to those produced by concoctions based on bark of the acacia tree, that is frequently mentioned in the Bible. I've got something with acacia in the name in my back yard. I'm going to go gnaw on it for a while and I'll let you know if I find anything interesting.

So how many times when the good professor was doing his anthropological research did he come up with an entirely original code of conduct? Or does he contend that Cousin Moshe suddenly chose to employ the genius he'd so successfully hidden before and after his little trip to the mountain top? And why would the scribes who transcribed the tale choose to alter what they considered holy text to hide something heretofore completely acceptable, when otherwise even scribal spelling errors are so carefully recopied that the age of a found Torah scroll can be dated by, and its point of origin placed, by which transcription errors are contained in the text?
Honestly, there's no idiot like an academic with a pet theory.

Honestly, there's no idiot like an academic with a pet theory.
What TW said--and it goes double when the "pet theory" is intended to make God disappear in a puff of logic. (See also, e.g., the multi-degreed goofball who claimed that Jesus walked on water only because the Sea of Galilee was frozen back then.)

Hell, why not go with the theory that he and the other prophets had schizophrenia?
I want to know how many "researchers" are on drugs when they do there work.

DarthVader: Or that the whole thing is a fabrication or a myth. When academic contrive an elaborate theory to undermine faith they do so at the expense of the obvious. And all too often without turning a critical eye on their own faith in nothingness.

Hoestly I don't doubt it is possible. And the notion of ergot contaminated bread playing a large part in Christian miracles probably isn't far off base and might even play a huge role in the communion ritual's coming about. Hallucinagenics have played huge roles in other religions too including Inca and Maya. What are today called "magic mushrooms" were used in religious ceremony for centuries, possibly for thousands of years.
The exact sources and nature of the hallucinogenic would probably have been kept from the masses and only shared with a select few in an inner circle who would be allowed to experience a certain mystical ritual that the general population probably wouldn't without some kind of "training" or "guidance" to properly interpret what they were experiencing. To people of that age, such a trip could be quite intensely spiritual.
This would be particularly true if it happened at random as would happen with "contaminated" bread.

The Hebrews didn't have any bread when they were wandering through the desert, though. That was one of the so-recently freed slaves' complaints, along with the meat they'd been accustomed to in the "fleshpots of Egypt". I don't doubt they had access to some sort of hallucinogens -- but again, why would the scribes hide such a thing so commonly accepted at the time. Going into holy trances was traditionally one of the jobs of priesthoods, after all.

I'm so impressed. All these centuries of scholars, geniuses and savants and at long last we have drug dabbling professor Benny Shanon to expose the truth. What an amazing man. I'm convinced.
#13
If you don't believe in the Divine than a more logical explaination is that Moses was lying, trying to enforce laws that would help his civilization through some pretty rough times. Or that he didn't exist and was a parable invented later for the same purpose.
#14
Ah, the primitive tribal drug-using natives in the rain forest obviously have much more of a true religion than those evil ancient faithful Jooooos.
Maybe the good academician is having flashbacks from his experience in that rain forest...

SO IOW, and IIRC Mr. Shanon, MADONNA FANS are DRUG USERS/ABUSERS? INCLUDING THOSE WHOM AREN'T?, which in turn infers that SOMEONE IS COVERTLY, ILLEGALLY, AND NON-CONSENSUALLY INJECTING DRUGS INTO NON-USER/ABUSER BODIES??? As opposed to NON-DRUG "NATURAL HIGH/DRIVES" = "MUSIC IS THE SOUND/VOICE OF GOD-HEAVEN"???

I'm always amazed by the blunt frankness of the Bible. It doesn't pull any punches when it mentions the faults of even some of the greatest religious leaders that grace its pages (e.g., David commits adultery and has the woman's husband killed -- that's harsh). It doesn't condone this bad behavior, and even condemns it at points (e.g., Nathan's rebuke of David is classic), but the Bible is blunt and frank about it all.
Why, then, wouldn't those same writers of the Bible record the "secrets of the psychedelics?" That kind of inconsistency just isn't apparent in the Bible -- regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the worldview espoused therein.
As for me, I am in the camp that holds that the Bible is frighteningly accurate in all respects -- even if at this point we lack the science or history to understand what is set forth in its pages. For example, for thousands of years the Bible said all of humanity was descended from one woman. Now, thanks to genetic science, we know without a doubt that that is true. And the Bible clearly noted that Abraham's descendants would be as numerous as the sands of the sea -- as numerous as the stars of the heavens -- at a time that the stars visible in the heavens might lead one to believe the promise was not that promising. It took the modern telescopic to verify that the stars of the heaven are as numerous as the sands of the sea. I could go on . . .
Anyway, this kind of academic dishonesty infuriates me, because it can wreck havoc on the lives people who lack the resources or ability to figure out what a bunch of bunk is being dumped on them.
Kenyan elders may impose a fine on U.S. presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton, payable in livestock, after a photo of her rival Barack Obama in robes dragged their people into the race for the White House. ... Wajir elders resolved to file an official complaint with the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, dropping earlier plans to riot hold a protest after Friday prayers. They said they would also convene a traditional Somali court to investigate the matter. It can impose fines that are payable in cattle, goats or camels. "We will go ahead with this case whether Senator Clinton or Democratic party leaders turn up or not," said Mohamed Ibrahim, a member of the clan that hosted Obama during his trip. "But this whole thing can be avoided if only an apology is made."
Right. We know what the real motive is. Somebody's got the hots for Chelsea. Nothing will satisfy his offended honor and dignity but her hand in marriage. And the rest of her for the honeymoon.
The late father of the Democratic frontrunner was from western Kenya. Many in the east African country support Obama the way the Irish idolised U.S. President John F. Kennedy in the 1960s -- as one of their own who succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. "The clan he was with have every right to be offended," said Hussein Ali, a 32-year-old unemployed man outside the main Jamia Mosque in the capital Nairobi. "Obama's enemies are trying to portray him as a terrorist, saying all Muslims, and especially Somalis, are dangerous men." ...

A 'Lucianne' commenter on this article wondered if the Kenyan elders would accept cattle futures instead of cows.
The Smart Card would allow easy movement within the ummah six member states, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the UAE
Starting next May, Kuwait is expected to embark on recognizing the Smart Card, or the Gulf Passport, one of the strategic projects of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), said a Kuwait diplomat here on Monday.
Think it'll come with a religion column?
Ambassador Jamal al Ghanim, the Director of the GCC Affairs Department in the Kuwait Foreign Ministry, said in statements to KUNA on sidelines of meetings of the Kuwait-UAE joint committee meetings which wrapped up works here yesterday that the Smart Card would allow easy movement within the six member states, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and the UAE.
He said Kuwait was on its way to apply the measure soon after completing all technical procedures required. The Kuwaiti diplomat said special devisions have been set up to follow up implementation of resolutions adopted by the GCC leaders during their last summit conference, such as the efforts for peaceful nuclear energy use and setting up a Disasters Monitoring Centre in Kuwait.
Al Ghanim commended the GCC for its efforts to deepen joint cooperation in all fields, noting that the GCC works as one bloc.
A reminder that no matter who the oppressor is, the Jews generally catch it in the teeth.
WARSAW - Poland said Tuesday it would return citizenship to Jews forced out by the former communist regime in an anti-Semitic purge 50 years ago. These matters (confirming citizenship) will be dealt with quickly, very quickly, Interior Minister Grzegorz Schetyna told reporters.
I'm neither Polish nor a Jew, so it's probably none of my business, but if it was me, I'd say, 'Thanks, but no thanks.'
Between 15,000 and 20,000 Polish Jews, many of them Holocaust survivors or the children of survivors, lost their jobs and were forced out of Poland during an anti-Semitic campaign launched by the communist party in March 1968. The victims of the purge, many of whom emigrated to Israel or the United States, were stripped of their Polish citizenship and their properties were expropriated by the state. Their Polish passports were also confiscated and replaced with a travel document that did not allow them to return.
Last week Jewish organisations and Polish intellectuals petitioned President Lech Kaczynski to automatically return citizenship. Among communist crimes, the infamy of March 1968 remains an event which weighs particularly on the Polish conscience, read the petition signed among others by award-winning film directors Andrzej Wajda and Agnieszka Holland as well as Nobel-prize winning poet Wislawa Szymborska. Anyone who lost their citizenship due to the 1968 anti-Semitic campaign must regain it.
The petition was launched on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the March 8, 1968 pro-freedom student protests which the communist regime used as an excuse to begin its purge.
During a 2006 visit to Israel, Kaczynski vowed Polish citizenship would be returned to victims of the purges. But with no blanket legislation covering the issue, exiled Jews are left having to jump numerous bureaucratic hurdles. A majority of the exiles have refused to take this route, deeming it an additional humiliation.

Nice of the Poles that they think it's worth doing, though.

I'm just amazed Poland still had any Jews in 1968, given how many of the survivors of WWII were murdered by the resident Polish Christians when they returned to free Poland in 1945.

I can't find the link, but there's a nostalgia movement for Jewish culture in Poland that is so strong it features non-Jewish Poles gathering for Jewish folk dances and eating Jewish foods. I think the Poles are smart for wanting their Jews to come home, they can only add to the cultural and economic vibrancy.

Back in the early 1970's, when I was living in (West) Germany, we saw a poster on a kiosk advertising a series of performances by the Polish Jewish Theater. My (nominally Jewish, fairly worldly and well-traveled) boyfriend of the time blurted out, "I didn't know there were any Jews left in Poland!"
Of course, I don't know how many Polish Jews it takes to give a theater performance....

Take note: it doesn't matter how Obama loses, or whether it is in the primary or the general election, there is going to be an outcry from the Jackson/Sharpton/moonbat wing of the party claiming he was robbed and the election was rigged. For those criminals, the only unrigged election is one their side wins. The reason they will be so certain that the election was rigged is because they will be working their butts off to rig it. If they lose, they will have no doubt that the only way that was possible was because some eeeevil Rethuglican cheated better than they did. Democrat=criminal, as it has since the days of LBJ.

Witnesses inside the voting location at Mount Olive Baptist Church said some of the victims cried and others yelled, "This is how they're going to steal the election from (Presidential candidate Barrack) Obama."
Oh, the victim syndrome resonates with his "peeps" doesn't it. I don't like the "us and them" vibe I'm getting from this guy and his followers.

This is an outrage! We must act quickly to prevent the inevitable Obama Camp anger, moaning, seething, clintonian retribution, and eventual diaspora. Congress must fund a Caribbean Archipelago homeland NOW! Something Michelle and Barak can be proud of, institute change, peace, prosperity, jobs for all, mules, 40 hectares, supersized mansions, gardens, etc. I leave it to someone else to........ name, suggestions welcome.......

"Somebody had already voted for me...I thought that was horrible," Ireland said. "I really wanted to know how they could do that (because) I never signed nothing. Not a thing."
The irony here is that theyre voting for a candidate that believes that actually providing authentic identification to vote disenfranchises minorities. Most of them probably believe that identity theft by illegal aliens is simply a minor inconvenience for a few as long as the many get the opportunity to live the American dream. Maybe once these rubes figure out that all someone needs is a copy of your utility bill to steal your vote they will begin to see the larger picture.

Notice how for 8 years of Bushy, not a damn thing has been done to assure honest voting. The last thing politicians want is honesty. Within an honest environment, they will stand out like a canker. With full honesty, out goes their agenda, and the people once again rule.

Look y'all. I ran into a real kook out in this area last night. -how was he a kook you might ask? well WWII happened in 1933, any/all Amerikkan Imperialism(tm) has happened within the last 50 years, china has no interest in Pacific Ocean ports, Imperial Japanese conquest was not a concept, etc.
To the point, this guy was essentially an 'Agent of Change' was actually hoping, that is hoping, that somehow Bo loses or is possibly killed - his words not mine - rediculous - to prove that Amerikka needs change.
For those of you who deal with this level of nuttiness daily I feel for ya.

Initially if Obama loses HIllary will be blamed but before the General election rolls around that blame will be transfered to Republican operatives who felt Hillary would be easier to beat, or because they feared a black President or whatever. How quickly they forget and how even quicker they are to blame others.
Remember the first Willie Horton ad was run by Al Gore in the primaries.

"Somebody had already voted for me," said Georgia Ireland.
Awesome. Remember they already called for a '68 style rally in Colorado, just priming the pump right now. Just because it is called the 'democratic party' does not mean they have to be democratic.
Sometimes I wonder if it is a ploy to keep them in the headlines and on people's minds.

Bureaucrats in Punjab have started visiting shrines and saints ahead of the incoming provincial government, sources said on Tuesday. They said two secretaries visited Bari Imam shrine in Rawalpindi on March 2, adding that an important bureaucrat was seen praying in Data Darbar on Tuesday afternoon. Officers who were close to former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi are worried, and meeting with saints. On Monday, a secretary invited a saint from Layyah district to Lahore for prayers. He also offered gifts to the saint. Senior officials from police and the Civil Secretariat were present in the gathering. The sources said that the saint was requested to pray for the bureaucrat so that the next government does not make him an officer on special duty.

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
