Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., on Saturday defended recommending his girlfriend and former staffer to become a U.S. attorney, arguing that she is a "highly qualified prosecutor" who would have served his home state well. "Why she's really good, lemmie tell you. She's the best I've ever had in b--COURT! She's good in court! and she's got the best set of--BRAINS! I've ever seen on a woman."
One of the most influential figures in the ongoing health care overhaul effort, Baucus acknowledged that he has had a romantic relationship with Melodee Hanes since the summer of 2008. In a statement, the senator said that he and Hanes, who live together on Capitol Hill, were separated from their spouses at the time. "It wasn't an affair," Baucus said. "No, it was a--was a--a study session! Yeah, that's it, I was in my briefs--no! I mean we had these legal briefs, and she was taking them off--I mean taking a look at them...."
As is pointed out in the Wall Street Journal/Opinion Journal today, the press had no problem recognizing the conflict of interest when it was Paul Wolfowitz's girlfriend.

Every court that has reviewed this case has been struck by certain aspects of the trial and actions of prosecutors that violate the fundamental notions of fair play on which our legal system is based. For example, the Iowa District Court for Polk County, addressing Moraless application for post-conviction relief, found prosecutor Haness instruction to withhold medical records from the defense team prior to the second autopsy suspicious at best ....
The treating surgeon has now recanted his trial testimony, at least to the extent of placing any reliance on the opinions of the Medical Examiner [Bennett, Haness then-husband]. Defense counsel failed ... to make an adequate offer of proof regarding the romantic relationship between a prosecutor [Hanes] and the Medical Examiner [Bennett].

Mods - feel free to remove this is you feel it is inappropriate for a family site. I've been following this story elsewhere. Generally we mods (and Fred) have felt that a story needed some connection to the WoT. The connection here is Bambi and the type of people he surrounds himself with, which of course influences how (or whether) our country will fight the WoT.
Barack Obama's Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings founded the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in 1990. In 2007 Kevin Jennings was paid $273,573.96 as the executive director of GLSEN. Recently he was appointed by the Obama administration to run the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools in the US Department of Education.
On Saturday, it was discovered that Kevin Jennings' organization GLSEN sponsored a youth conference at Tuft's University in March 2000. This conference was fully supported by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Safe Schools Program, the Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and some of the presenters even received federal money. An undercover journalist with Mass Resistance was at the conference and recorded a couple of the workshops. During one of the conference workshops an activist asks 14 year-old students, "Spit or swallow?... Is it rude?" This audio clip segment is also posted here.
That's not all. The conference also included a workshop where... I won't continue. Some of this material can be fairly explicit - be warned.
Some of the linked-to material - exerts from the reading list from Kevin Jennings 'GLSEN' reading list is, to put it mildly, disgusting. Most of the items on this reading list were added while Mr. Jennings was heading up GLEN.
To repeat: This is President Barak Obama's choice for 'Safe School Czar'.
