(SomaliNet) Egypt's police discovered 2Πtons of missiles and other weapons in Egypt's Sinai region, Egypt's security officials have confirmed. The arms were discovered hidden in two separate areas in Egypt's Libni mountain area in central Sinai. This was during a police operation in the area. However, the destination of the weapons is yet to be revealed. Israel has always said that weapons have been transported from the Sinai region to Palestine.

When they saw what appeared to be a holly bush in the Sinai, it stood out. Upon closer inspection, if turned out to be plastic Christmas decorations.
Still curious, they removed the holly to reveal several crates with missles in them, each with a red bow on it.
I have a suspicion the "bandidos" may be the local Janjaweed.
BOWARA, Central African Republic - Driven from their homes by armed raiders, terrified villagers in northwest Central African Republic say they are surviving in the bush eating roots, fruit and leaves. Bands of unidentified gunmen began operating in this area nearly two years ago, sending thousands fleeing north over the border into Chad. Aid workers say attacks by both gunmen and government troops have got worse in the past fortnight. "We are being chased into the bush like animals by the government troops," said Martin Deou, from Bowara village. "Our life on Earth has no sense any more," he said.
Deou was one of a few young people who emerged from the bush near Bowara to meet a passing United Nations convoy on Tuesday. Normally the rumble of a motor vehicle sends them fleeing further into the bush, fearing another attack. But, emboldened by the sight of U.N. insignia, the group said they were surviving by foraging for whatever edible roots and fruits they could find, as well as manioc leaves. "Particularly in the last two weeks there has been a substantial increase in armed attacks," Marcus Prior, regional spokesman for the U.N. World Food Programme, told Reuters in the nearby administrative centre of Paoua. The raiders had particularly targeted food stores following the recent harvest, Prior said, leaving villagers "surviving off manioc leaves and whatever they can find in the bush."
WFP launched a humanitarian air service this month to assist up to 1 million people who may have been affected by violence in northern Central African Republic, near the border with Chad. Residents say government troops have raided villages, accusing local people of helping the armed groups, thought to include disaffected Chadian mercenaries and local insurgents, who have demonstrated little obvious aim beyond banditry. A former senior municipal official in Paoua told reporters late on Tuesday he had just been held captive for several hours by troops who accused him of collaborating with the armed bands.

Whats all this I hear about CAR villagers living on roofs? Why, it's disgusting! Don't they know they are going to get wet when it rains? What about lightning? You know, just the other day I hear that Gladys's sister's cousin Erma was struck by lightning, and she wasn't even standing on the roof! And what about the children? What if those poor little ones accidently fall and crack their skulls? It's disgusting.....and......wait.... Oh! Roots, not roofs. Nevermind.....
Three suspected activists of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) Janajuddha faction were killed in a 'shootout' with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday afternoon at Dhopaghata village under Pabna sadar upazila only hours after the slain had killed a rival outlaw at Jalalpur market under the same upazila.
RAB scores a hat trick!
The three killed in the 'shootout' are Amirul, 25, from Lohagara village, Dulal, 28, and Lutfar, 30, from Hapania village under Ataikula thana.
Earlier at noon, a gang of outlaws belonging to PBCP Janajuddha faction attacked a regional leader of their rival PBCP Lal Pataka faction inside the crowded Jalalpur market. They gunned him down and hacked him to death, said the sources. The dead was identified as Amjad Hossain, 35, son of late Abu Jafar, of Chomorpur village under Ataikula thana.
"Yeah, that's Amjad. He's looked better."
Locals chased the extremists and caught one of the suspected assailants, Dulal. The mob beat him up and handed him over to Rab 12.
Should have stayed with the mob....
The Banglas have admirable civic spirit.
Following Dulal's confessional scream statement, a Rab team took him along at Dhopaghata in the afternoon to recover hidden firearms and capture his accomplices, said Rab.
Afternoon? Have another appointment at O dark thirty?
Soon after the Rab team reached Dhopaghata, Dulal's cohorts fired on Rab prompting Rab to return fire that triggered a half-hour long gunfight, Rab added.
"It's da RAB, boys! Our only chance is wildly inaccurate fire!"
Amirul, Dulal and Lutfar were found dead after the gunfight was over, claimed Rab.
I have no doubt they're dead. The only question is when they died and how close the muzzle was to the back of their heads.
And before or after they were tossed out the back of the truck ...
The dead are accused in many cases filed in several police stations on twelve systems including Pabna and Ataikula, Rab said. Rab recovered a rifle, two bombs and some bullets from the scene.

OK, does anyone admit to knowing what under Pabna sadar upazila means?
I think under means in the jurisdiction of or south of.... I'm not certain. I'm conviced by certain markings that Upazila is a subdistrict or neighborhood.
So Under Upazila could mean either, south of the neighborhood or in the jurisdiction of this neighborhood.
This of course does not account for the Tony Upazila which was mentioned a couple of times.
Islamist militant leader Mufti Abdul Hannan of Harkatul Jihad (HuJi) in his confessional statement on Sunday narrated in detail the workings of his organisation and admitted to being involved in several gruesome bomb attacks and in planning of some others including the Udichi blast in Jessore and attempts on the life of Sheikh Hasina.
In the 19-page long confessional statement, a copy of which is now available to The Daily Star, Hannan, one of the most dreaded Islamist militants, also confessed to having roles in the bomb attack at Ramna Batamul, the grenade attack on the British high commissioner, and several other blast incidents.
He made the confessional statement to Metropolitan Magistrate Shafique Anwar. In the statement, he gave detailed accounts of his background, education, his involvement in Afghan war and militant activities in Bangladesh. The most infamous incidents that he had been involved in directly include planting a 76-kg bomb at Kotalipara of Gopalganj near the meeting venue of the then prime minister Sheikh Hasina in July 2000, attacks on Sylhet City Corporation mayor in December 2005, and on a rally of Awami League (AL) leader Suranjit Sengupta in Sunamganj in July, 2001. Besides, he also named the other leaders and activists of HuJi, who had planned and taken part in the attacks.

All Things Considered, November 21, 2006 · The Rapid Action Batallion fights crime and terrorism in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Human rights activists say 340 deaths attributed to the RAB are extra-judicial killings. But crime is down and ordinary citizens seem less concerned about a lack of due process.
er, let's just keep the Crossfire Gazette to ourselves, shall we? No point in having anyone poking around asking questions about how is it this person in green hilites knows so much about shutter guns and "encounters". OK?

A British Muslim falsely confessed to planning to bomb several high-profile English landmarks after being tortured and subjected to degrading conditions in Pakistan, his defence lawyer said on Tuesday. Salahuddin Amin, 31, was subjected to inhumane treatment by Pakistani intelligence during 10 months of incarceration, Patrick OConnor told a London court. The torture took place with the knowledge of British intelligence agencies although no British agents were actually involved or witnessed it, he said.
Amin is one of seven British Muslims accused of planning to make explosives out of ammonium nitrate fertiliser to bomb pubs, clubs, trains, a shopping centre and synagogues. OConnor said Amin, who also holds Pakistani nationality, had been deprived of all basic human rights while in custody in Pakistan in 2004. Such treatment had caused Amin to make confessions, which were not detailed in court, to British police on his arrest in February last year on arriving back in London, he added. He added that the idea that British intelligence did not know the notorious practices of Pakistani intelligence and what would happen to Amin in their custody is regarded as risible.
Prosecutors accuse Amin of sending emails detailing the plot with a formula on how to make explosives from fertiliser to another of the suspects, Omar Khyam. OConnor said Amin denied the claim. No one seems to be able to produce it (the emails) formally, he told the court.

A court Wednesday rejected an appeal by the founder of Ansar al-Islam, a suspected Islamic terror group in Iraq, and upheld a government order to expel him from Norway as a threat to national security.
"Sven, those guyz from Ansar al-Islam just wiped out 40 wimmin and children!"
"Jå, sure, Øle! I suspect they may be a terrør grøup!"
The Kurdish leader Mullah Krekar, a refugee in Norway since 1991, challenged the order to strip him of his refugee status and deport him to Iraq. In its ruling, the Borgarting appeals court in Oslo rejected his appeal, found that the government has the right to expel him, and ordered Krekar to pay $44,960 in legal costs.
"Jå, sure! It's øur cøuntry. We can expel him if we døn't want him here. That'll be $44,960. Pay øn yøur way øut."
Krekar's mouthpiece lawyer, Arvid Sjoedin, said he would review the ruling before deciding whether to appeal to the Supreme Court.
"Jå, sure! There's gøtta be a løøphøle in there sømeplace!"
The latest decision upholds a September 2005 ruling by the Oslo City Court that also said the government's grounds for expelling Krekar as a security risk were valid. The appeals court said it was unlikely that Krekar could be expelled immediately, "because conditions in Iraq are currently such that he cannot be returned due to Norway's international obligations" to ensure his safety. Krekar has said he no longer leads Ansar al-Islam, and denies links to al-Qaida.
"Nope. Nope. Never happened."
Born Najm al-Din Faraj Ahmad, Krekar founded the group listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and others. Ansar al-Islam is also suspected in suicide bombings of coalition forces in Iraq. Krekar has been in and out of police custody during investigations on charges that included financing terror and plotting to kill political rivals in northern Iraq. However, Norwegian police dropped all charges against Krekar in June 2004, citing lack of evidence and fears that witness testimony in Iraq was coerced.
"Jå, sure. We're drøpping the charges. The witnesses are all dead!"
Krekar was arrested at an airport outside Amsterdam, Netherlands, in September 2002, after Iran denied him entry and sent him back to Europe. He was deported to Norway in January 2003.

The death sentence for convicted murderer Sgt. Hasan Akbar was approved late last week at Fort Bragg, N.C., by Lt. Gen. John R. Vines, commander if XXVIII Airborne Corps and court martial convening authority in the case.
I am probably not alone in thinking Sgt Akbar should not have been "arrested".
Akbar was sentenced to death in April 2005 by unanimous vote of a military panel for the March 23, 2003, grenade attack that killed Capt. Christopher Seifert and Maj. Gregory Stone. The grenade attack, which also wounded 14 others, took place at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait, where the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, was preparing to cross the berm into Iraq. Akbar lobbed grenades into three tents while members of the brigade slept, and then fired shots at those who emerged from the smoky blasts.
Approval of the death penalty means that Akbars case will automatically go to appeal and be reviewed by the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and ultimately could end up at the U.S. Supreme Court. He cant be executed until the president gives a firm OK, said military law expert Eugene Fidell, who is not involved in the Akbar case.
However, he added, Akbars case will likely be in appeals for some time to come. Experience teaches that this case will not be over while Mr. Bush is in office, Fidell said.

I would suggest rolling a grenade into his cell at some random point during the next year. If he lives, he gets to walk. If he still can. That ought to make it interesting.

Think how many lives in Iraq this guy saved.
The US military needs more like him. Might have saved the 3000+ who've lost their lives already. The US is getting spanked good and proper in Iraq, its Vietnam mark2. It ain't winnable.

i find it most amusing the whole 'were losing' thing, i mean come on, our forces have gone over there, there being half way around the world, removed a vicious sick peadophile dictator and his family from power, destroyed the baathist rule and stalinist goverment there, have a kill ratio of perhaps 10 to 1 at the low estimates, maybe 30 to 1 at high estimates. Oh wait yeah we destroyed a whole fckin army too plus the old iraqi airforce, had absolutly no comeback on our own soil be it in the Uk or America from iraqi forces and all with just 3000 losses! Thats some fckin incredable stats there really. Too sum up, dictator removed, baathist goverment removed, iraqi military vapourised oh and after what 3 years now were still fckin there killing the Osamanauts and jihadi nuts and they can't do squat about it. yeah were losing yeah hehe. Now if the all our forces were pushed out in a feirce battle and saddam returned to power then yeah i;d say thats losing but fck eh people need to realise what winning and losing actually is, we stomped the fck outa them, and are still there stomping! how is that losing?

Which, I guess is the beauty of being a UBD (Under Bridge Dweller aka troll), you get to say stupid things, make absolutely no sense, and in 50 yrs when your paying the dhimmi to your new klinger masters you will still be saying stupid things, making absolutely no sense, and we still be here laughing at you. BTW - you should really get out of the cyber cafe and back to work at the chipper, folks on the dole are depending on you.

You are a liar and an idiot. Thanks to your enslavement by media culture and your basic lack of itelligence or other human qualities, you have no idea what is really happening there. Fools like you give the terrorists hope and keep them going, and that is all that keeps them going because they are being killed in wholesale lots every day. Most of Iraq is at peace and the rebuilding process goes on day and night. The violence you see in the media is tailored specifically to support the media's defeatist message. Dupes like you swallow it hook, line, and sinker and imagine yourselves part of an elite for doing so.
This scum didn't save anything and you need to think about what will save you when the world's collective reversion to adolescence finally ends and accountability returns.
Google up Julius Streicher, moron. Follow his path, share his fate.

I believe (not sure) he'll be executed, when the day comes, by firing squad, since he was in uniform when he committed his crime.
As it should be. All the good people in the military need to see that it's done properly, with all respect for the military traditions involved in executing one of their own who's gone over to the other side. There's a certain grim relief in seeing justice done properly.

Number of Executions
135 people have been executed by the Army since 1916 (Source: National Law Journal, 4/5/99) Date of last military execution
On April 13, 1961, U.S. Army Private John A. Bennett was hanged after being convicted of rape and attempted murder.

Execute him. Anything less sends a strong...BAD... message to the military.
As an aside...I hope that "protester-5th columnist" pictured by AC gets a one way ticket to the Magic Kingdom. She can be an early devotee of the sharia (rhymes with diarrhea) law she is attempting to usher in. I'll chip a few bucks in!

Per my comments in today's Fjordman article, it may become necessary to biometrically screen (fMRI or PET) all known Muslims in our military. Although I'd just as soon welcome an outright ban, like others here have suggested, screening would still provide some basic level of detection and protection.
As for Snackbar Akbar, he cannot be executed fast enough.

Some have even served time, and I use that word intentionally, in your cesspool of a country and several others in your general vicinity. Others have done their "bit" in a great many more countries around the entire globe.
Some of us have even killed people so your cesspool of a country could sell us your stinking black goo at exhorbitant rates.
So, STFU Allan, and that goes for your entire moon-worshipping cult as well.
You want to start something? Go ahead and try to start something over here - you will not get the chance to wish you hadn't if you piss us off badly enough.
MUMBAI: Indian police arrested 10 people deported from Dubai on Tuesday, accusing them of being part of a crime syndicate involved in kidnapping, extortion and murder. Police said those arrested belonged to the gang of Dawood Ibrahim, a fugitive mob boss believed to be based in Pakistan and who is accused of masterminding the 1993 Mumbai bombings that killed 257 people.
Ibrahim and his top associates never faced trial having fled the country soon after those blasts. The verdict in the case is currently being delivered by an anti-terrorism court in Mumbai. They (the arrested) are involved in various crimes and we are seeing who is involved in what, Mumbai police chief AN Roy told Reuters. These people were wanted by us. The Dubai police detained them some time back. Police said they were also questioning the deported people to find out if they were involved in the deadly explosions 13 years ago, apparently ordered by Ibrahim to avenge the razing of a 16th century mosque by Hindu zealots.

Police arrested 47 suspected Taliban militants in raids in various places in Quetta and its suburbs on Tuesday, officials said. They are all newcomers who crossed the border illegally over the past one week, said SSP Qazi Waheed. We believe they are Taliban fighters, he said, adding that the detainees were being interrogated to determine their motive and possible links here.
Police last month rounded up more than 50 suspected Taliban, six of them from a hospital in Quetta where they had been receiving treatment. The wounded Afghans were from neighbouring Afghan provinces of Helmand and Kandahar.

(KUNA) -- An Iraqi police officer was gunned down by unknown insurgents in the Iraqi city of al-Mosul, while 11 civilians were injured due to clashes between police forces and gunmen in two of the city's neighborhoods, police said Tuesday. Lieutenant Colonel Salah Mohammad Al-Jbori of Tal Afar police was shot as he was leaving a relative house in Palestine neighborhood southern Mosul, a source in the Iraqi police told KUNA. The deceased was wearing civilian clothes when attacked, the source added.
Meanwhile, gun clashes between an Iraqi police patrol and a group of unidentified armed men resulted in the injury of seven people, including two children and two women. The injured were hit whilst inside their houses, due to the proximity of the clashes. The area of Dourat al-Yarmouk, where the quarrel took place was surrounded, which prevented any damage information to be realized.
In a related story, armed clashes that followed a bomb explosion resulted in the injury of four people, according to a police source. The clashes, that lasted about 30 minutes, took place in an area northern Mosul, the source added.
Two unidentified bodies were found by police forces in separate areas in eastern Mosul, the source said. Furthermore, large and diverse quantities of weaponry; believed to be of the former Iraqi army, were seized by police after being reported by citizens, the source added.

Someone remind me which side we are rooting for here. Or should we just stomp and hoot whenever one of the murderous asshats on either side gets smoked?
Sri Lanka's air force bombed Tamil Tiger territory in the far north on Tuesday in what the military called a preemptive strike on a training base, but the rebels said it was an unprovoked attack near their stronghold. The Tigers said at least 20 air force bombs fell near the village of Vaddakkachchi, which lies around 6 miles east of their northern nerve-centre of Kilinochchi.
The military said the air force had targeted a Sea Tiger training camp another 15 miles further southeast on a lagoon near the village of Puthukkudiyiruppu. "We are being bombed," rebel military spokesman Rasiah Ilanthiraiyan told Reuters. "The bombs are falling near Kilinochchi. The buildings in town are vibrating. They have dropped about 20 bombs so far. There was no provocation."
There were no immediate details of casualties or damage. "According to air force information, there is a Sea Tiger training base at Puthukkudiyiruppu, so we've targeted that," said military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe. "This was not due to provocation as such. This was a known target. Every day the navy is getting hammered (in sea clashes), so to preempt that the air force has taken the target."

The Sri Lanka Air Force currently operates nine squadrons from five operational bases: Katunayake (Colombo Airport), Ratmalana, Anuradhapura, Minneriya and Vavuniya. Scattered across the country are several Forward Operating Locations/Bases.
The fighter element consists of two squadrons at Katunayake flying Kfirs, Shenyang J-7s and MiG-23s. Still soldiering on is a sole FT-5 for training. Two squadrons at Ratmalana provide the country's transport capacity, using a fleet of different transport aircraft. The helicopter element consists of four squadrons operating from different bases for (VIP-)transport and attack. Flying training is carried out by the training wing at Anuradhapura (with the Chinese CJ-6) after which students carry on with 14sq at Katunayake (with K-8s). Six of these Karakorums were originally ordered and delivered. Three were destroyed within a couple of weeks after delievery during the July 2001 attack. Three replacement aircraft were delivered in 2005.

If they'd used Buffs, there would be a new harbor at the strike zone, capable of handling a half-dozen NIMITZ-class carriers. AND there would have been a lot more than 20 bombs dropped, since even the "H" models can be configured to carry 72 or 74 each.

The Security Council has approved a letter authorizing Secretary-General Kofi Annan to finalize a UN-Lebanese agreement that would create a tribunal to prosecute the suspected killers of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Rocketing right along. I'm sure it's a comfort to Gemayel's relatives and supporters.

Gunmen on Tuesday assassinated Lebanese Christian cabinet minister Pierre Gemayel, an outspoken critic of Syria, plunging Lebanon deeper into a crisis over ties with its dominant neighbour.
As it was supposed to...
At least three gunmen rammed their car into Gemayel's vehicle near Beirut, then leapt out and riddled it with bullets, firing at Gemayel with silencer-equipped automatic weapons at point-blank range in a Christian neighbourhood, witnesses said. Ten bullet holes were seen around the window of the driver's seat of his grey car. The two front seats were soaked in blood. 'We believe the hand of Syria is all over the place' The son of assassinated former Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri blamed Syria for the killing in the Sin el-Fil area, but Damascus piously condemned the murder.
Who the hell wrote this? What'd they expect them to say? "We dunnit an' we're glad!"?
The assassination is certain to heighten tensions in Lebanon amid a deep political crisis pitting the anti-Syrian majority against the pro-Damascus opposition led by Hezbollah, which is determined to topple what it sees as a pro-US government.
It's a move in the game, just like killing Massoud was a move in Qaeda's game in September 2001.
Gemayel, 34, was rushed to hospital, where he later died of his wounds. Hundreds of angry and weeping family members and supporters gathered at the hospital.
I'm wondering if anyone named Gemayel has ever died in bed...
"We believe the hand of Syria is all over the place," Saad al-Hariri, whose father Rafik was killed in a suicide bombing last year, said shortly after Gemayel was shot dead.
Looking pretty obvious from here. Stupid, but pretty obvious...
"Syria strongly condemns the killing," the official Syrian news agency SANA said. The Shi'a group Hezbollah also condemned the "low criminal act" and urged an investigation.
Just not by anybody competent.
Many ordinary Lebanese were shocked by the murder and feared the worst. "I'm just waiting for the next minister to be assassinated. This is definitely not the end," said Johnny Ghoossain, 25.
The eventual Hezbollah coup is expected to be the end of it.
The assassination came after a devastating July-August conflict in south Lebanon between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, which accused the pro-US government of backing its opponents in order to weaken it as a political and military force. It also coincided with United Nations Security Council moves to create a tribunal to try those suspected of Hariri's assassination.
... which was the genesis of the war in July.

There seems to be little "Tit for Tat" in the Phalange/Christian versus Shiite/Syrian/Hezbollah feuds. As a former Chicago resident, I assure you Capone could have taught the Phalangists a thing or two...they didn't help the IDF much in '82 so I don't expeect much from them now that they are on their own...
