I seem to recall that Austin elected a Soros DA and defunded their police.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Authorities are investigating after a tragic hostage incident in Austin, Texas on Saturday left two victims and one SWAT officer dead, according to authorities. The suspect was also fatally shot by police during the shootout which resulted in an additional officer sustaining injuries, according to Austin American-Statesman.
Austin's interim chief of police Robin Henderson said during a press briefing that the Austin Police Department responded to reports of a stabbing around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arriving at the location, responding officers found two injured victims inside the home with the suspect. Police said authorities located a third victim in the neighborhood after she had managed to escape the residence and was transported to the hospital.
The victim told authorities the suspect was allegedly armed with a knife, police said.
Officers conducted a forced entry into the home at 3 a.m. but were met with gunfire, prompting them to retreat. The Austin Police SWAT Team was called to the scene to respond to a barricaded suspect inside the home with two hostages.
At 4:11 a.m., SWAT officers entered the home and engaged in a shootout after the suspect opened fire on officers. The suspect was fatally shot by SWAT. During the shootout, two SWAT officers were struck by bullets which left one killed, and another in stable, pH balanced condition.
The two hostages inside the residence were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The dear departed SWAT officer has been identified as Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore.
In a statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, Henderson wrote: "My heart is heavy today. Please help me and our APD family pay tribute to SPO Jorge Pastore for his brave & heroic actions. Sir, we'll take it from here."
"Thanks for all the prayers & thoughts. Continue to keep the Pastore family and our second Officer injured in your prayers," he added.

Austin (a/k/a The People's Republic of Travis County) does indeed have a woke Soros DA, and the police dept has been hemoraging personnel, to the point of the issuing statements to the effect of "if it's not a felony, don't call".
The state gov offices have been forced to bring in DPS (state police) and county officers for security, as they can tell the city to take a hike off of state property.
My son is a SWAT officer in a medium sized city here, and they won't even train with Austin anymore. If you're interested in the soap opera that is Austin, try Battleswarmblog.

[Garowe] After making significant progress, Somalia's offensive against the Islamist al-Shabaab ... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa... group has stalled for months, raising concerns about the government's capacity to crush the 16-year insurgency led by the al-Qaeda-linked krazed killers.
[Garowe] The efforts by the Somali National Army [SNA] to dislodge al-Shabaab ... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... forces of Evil have paid off, with the group losing a strategic region in central Somalia, just as the military continues with operations across the country, targeting some of the areas the forces of Evil have dominated for over a decade.
According to the state media, al-Shabaab lost Barag Mohammed Daud area within Mudug in central Somalia, following an operation by the Somali National Army which has been combing the area. The multi-agency security teams played a key role in the first phase of operations against al-Shabaab.
Major General Abdi Salad, who led the successful operations, said he was optimistic that more regions will be liberated from the al-Shabaab hard boys, who have controlled large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia for the last 16 years of terror and sabotage.
"Al-Shabaab Lions of Islam lose control of Barag Mohammed Daud area in Mudug region to Somali forces and local forces. Major General Abdi Salad led the successful operation. The Lions of Islam on the run," state media reported.
The Somali National Army has been concentrating on central regions where al-Shabaab is dominant, with the military keen on combing exercises. The first phase of operations left at least 3000 al-Shabaab fighters dead in Galmadug and HirShabelle states, the government said.
Once operations in central Somalia are over, the military, along with the US Africa Command and the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS], will move to southern parts where they will face the forces of Evil in Jubaland and Southwest states.
The operations in Jubaland and Southwest states are set to be the last with the foreign troops set to leave the country after handing over security responsibilities to the national army. By December 2024, it is anticipated that al-Shabaab would have been defeated completely.

[Garowe] The National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA] has intercepted suspected al-Shabaab ... al-Qaeda's tentacle in East Africa... recruits following a tip-off from members of the public, the state media reports, in one of the milestones in the fight against the Death Eaters.
According to reports, the 25 people were intercepted while traveling on a mini-bus, and among them were minor, who is said to have been on a mission to join the group as child soldiers. The incidents happened near Afgoye District, about 30Kms west of Mogadishu.
Security teams who arrested the suspects have also detained a driver and two people believed to be accomplices and will be arraigned to answer to charges of recruitment of people on behalf of the terrorist group which is wreaking havoc in the country.
"Acting on a tip-off, [RING!] Cop shoppe! Sergeant Shafiq speaking! Lissen! Dis is Mahmoud da Weasel! I got a tip for youse... the National Intelligence and Security Agency intercepted a mini-bus carrying 25 people, including minors, who were attempting to join the Alshabab terrorist group near the Afgoye district," state media reported.
"The security forces also detained the driver and two accomplices who were facilitating the recruitment," it added, noting that the suspects are also detained to respond to charges before the state makes a decision.

[Garowe] A court in Somalia charged 11 people for allegedly being informers of the terror group; al-Shabaab ... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... , in one of the cases which yet again shows the commitment of the country in fighting against al-Shabaab holy warriors, a group that controls a few parts of the country.
The military court in Mogadishu heard that the 11 individuals were the "ears of the enemy". al-Shabaab Lions of Islam have planted informers both in the public and private sectors and in some worst scenarios, a few members of the national army are also blamed for such acts.
According to the state media, of the accused individuals, three were women, and the remaining men. Lawyers for the accused have denied the allegations. No, no! Certainly not! and the court is set to set to deliver the verdict on the case soon, state media adds.
"Alleged al-Shabaab collaborators on trial in military court. Eight men and three women from the Hodan district were accused of spying for terrorists. The group’s registrar nabbed in the Mogadishu market. Lawyers challenge evidence. Court to deliver verdict soon," state media reported.
The accused, three of them females, are reportedly local district workers in Mogadishu. They are charged with passing information about government workers, the result of attacks, individuals targeted, and explosions to al-Shabaab.
Besides targeting informers, the government of Somalia has also heavily invested in tracking financiers of the group and sources of income. Last year, over 250 bank accounts belonging to financiers and 70 mobile money transfer services.
The government through the national army, the US Africa Command, and the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS], has been fighting to eliminate the holy warriors. So far, over 3,500 Lions of Islam have been killed in the last 14 months.

[Regnum] A Jewish school in the western part of Montreal, Canada, was attacked. No one was injured, CBC News reported on its website on November 12.
"Montreal police are investigating shots fired at a Jewish school in the city's west end," the statement said.
According to the TV channel, no one was injured as a result of the shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they found only gunshot marks on the building and empty shell casings. So far no one has been arrested.
This is not the first time Jewish schools have been attacked in Canada. According to police, on the morning of November 9, an employee of a Montreal school discovered the effects of a shooting on the floor of the educational institution. At another school, traces of shooting were found on the doors.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned any manifestation of “anti-Semitic violence.”
As Regnum reported , in October in Berlin, Stars of David began to appear on Jewish houses. Representatives of the Jewish community said that they began to fear for their lives, as there had already been cases of threats and attacks on the streets.
In Munich, the Jewish community advised its members to behave "inconspicuously" - not to wear Jewish symbols and not to attend demonstrations in support of Palestine. In Berlin, a fifteen-year-old schoolboy got into a fight with a teacher who demanded that he remove the Palestinian flag he had brought to school.
In London, the BBC headquarters building was doused with red paint because the broadcaster refused to call members of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas terrorists. Mass protests in support of Palestine are regularly held in Paris and other French cities .
A Jewish school in Montreal was fired on Sunday for the second time this week as tensions remain high in Canada over the Israel-Hamas ...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... war, Canadian police said.
Police spokeswoman Veronique Dubuc said no one was in the Yeshiva Gedola when shots were heard around 5 a.m. (10H00 GMT), and there were no reported injuries.
Officers discovered bullet damage to the building’s facade and found cartridges on the ground, Dubuc said.
The incident took place only two days after that school and another Jewish school in Montreal, Canada’s second-largest city, were fired upon, also without casualties.
Earlier in the week, a Montreal synagogue suffered minor damage in a Molotov cocktailing, and three students were maimed when pro-Paleostinian and pro-Israel groups clashed at the city’s Concordia University.
[NewsMax] A heartfelt plea to President Joe Biden not to pressure Israel to stop fighting Hamas was offered by Dr. Yechiel Leiter at his son Moshe's funeral Sunday at the Mount Herzel military cemetery.
According to Breitbart, Maj. Moshe Yedidyah Leiter was one of four members of the Israel Defense Force 551st Brigade's 697th Battalion killed in Gaza on Friday by a blast from a booby-trapped tunnel. The funeral, which lasted several hours, saw thousands of mourners.
The elder Leiter is a former chief of staff to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Although his eulogy was in Hebrew, his address to Biden was in English:
[Hot Air] Much of the current attention in the ongoing Israeli war against Hamas in Gaza is focused on Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The ground fighting around the hospital has been intense, with many casualties. But the focus of the international news media, such as in this article from the Associated Press, has been on the hospital itself and the disruptions being caused by the military action. The AP asks, "Hospitals have special protection under the rules of war. Why are they in the crosshairs in Gaza?" Of course, the premise of the question is false, but it allows the press to once again paint the IDF as the bad guys who are driving up "civilian casualties" at unacceptable rates.

[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security agency and Israel Defense Forces say some 20 members of the Hamas ...one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... terror group have been arrested by Israeli troops in the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. The agency says it is collaborating with the IDF Military Intelligence Directorate’s Unit 504 and other troops to gather intelligence, carry out special operations, arrest wanted Paleostinians and interrogate them.
It says the 20 Hamas members were nabbed "in the heart of the Gaza Strip."
"The interrogations of the terror operatives will be used to obtain up-to-date intelligence from the ground and to aid with the continuation of the ground maneuver and the fighting efforts," the Shin Bet says.

It says there are dozens of small teams in the Military Intelligence Directorate that work with individual divisions and brigades that are operating in Gaza.
The teams, being used for the first time, are tasked with collecting intelligence from various sources in the Military Intelligence Directorate and other agencies, and making them accessible to forces on the ground.
In an example given by the IDF, an intelligence team for the Golani Brigade notified troops on the ground that there were a number of Hamas ...the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,... operatives near them. Within 10 minutes, the troops directed artillery fire and engaged the button men, killing seven of them.
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces says troops of its Harel Reserve Brigade have captured the “al-Karameh area” — apparently named after a local hospital — between Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya, in the northern Gaza Strip.
According to the IDF, during the raids, the troops destroyed Hamas infrastructure in the area, including long-range rocket launchers aimed at Israel, anti-tank missile launch positions, tunnels, and observation posts.
The Harel Brigade troops also killed several Hamas operatives during the fighting.

Al Shati is not really a refugee camp. It once was, but now it is a large town within Gaza.
"Al-Shati was established in 1948 for about 23,000 Palestinians who fled... during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. ...[reportedly] al-Shati had a population of 40,734 inhabitants in 2017. As of July 2023, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) reports a population of 90,173 registered refugees. The camp is the third largest refugee camp in the Palestinian Territories."
UNRWA commonly inflates population figures to increase its budget.

[IDF.IL] HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS:
Evacuation corridors for civilians were opened between 09:00-16:00 through the Salah al-Din route toward south of Wadi Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... .
There was a tactical pause of military operation for humanitarian purposes in the area of Jabalia and Ezbet Mallin today between 10:00-14:00 to encourage evacuation southward via Salah al-Din route and to provide supplies.
A safe passage to south of Wadi Gaza was opened from Shifa Hospital via al-Wahda Street to Salah al-Din route. Residents who were, and continue to be forcefully blocked by Hamas ...the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... are able to contact the IDF via phone or telegram.
The IDF is currently enabling a passage from the Shifa, Rantisi and Nasser hospitals in northern Gaza and opened an additional passage to enable the civilian population to evacuate southwards for their safety.
The IDF provided 300 liters of fuel for urgent medical purposes for the Shifa Hospital, however Hamas prevented the hospital .from receiving the fuel
SOUTHERN ARENA Our troops are simultaneously conducting ground, aerial and naval operations, encircling and closing in on Hamas in northern
IDF ground troops continue to expand ground operations in the heart of Gaza, with focus on the Shati area. They’ve eliminated terrorists, uncovered a large number of terrorist infrastructure and secured an evacuation route for Gazook residents. They also identified and eliminated a terrorist cell barricaded inside a house as well as struck a Hamas weapons storage facility.
In two separate incidents, Givati Brigade soldiers encountered large numbers of turbans in the area of Shati:
In the first encounter, the Brigade's forces recognized civilians in a building and allowed them to evacuate through a designated, secured route they opened. Hamas turbans shot up our forces, who responded with fire and eliminated them.
In the second encounter, the brigade's forces identified a house with a terrorist-cell in it. The team opened fire and called in an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... , which eliminated the threat.
The massive movement of Gazook civilians to southern Gaza demonstrates what the IDF has stated for weeks: Hamas actively prevents civilians from evacuating southward in order to use them as human shields.
NORTHERN ISRAEL In response to rocket launches from Leb ...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... and Syria in the past day, IDF fighter jets struck terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon and Syria.
Terrorists launched anti-tank missiles toward the area of Dovev in northern Israel. A number of civilians were maimed as a result of the launches. IDF artillery returned fire at the origin of the launch. IDF fighter jets also struck a number of Hezbollah terror targets in Lebanon in response to the attack on Israeli civilians. Among the targets struck were military infrastructure used by Hezbollah to direct its terrorist activity.
A terrorist cell launched a number of mortar shells toward northern Israel. The IDF struck the cell, as well as an additional terrorist cell in the area of Yarin in southern Lebanon.
HOSTAGES AND THE FALLEN SOLDIERS We are taking all measures to bring all 239 hostages home. The IDF updated the families of 361 fallen soldiers who bit the dust fighting for our country.

Yarin, is a small settlement of perhaps 50 structures located just across the border. It will likely disappear soon.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] President Biden ordered airstrikes against two facilities in Syria used by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards on Sunday.
The strikes, carried out by Air Force F-15E fighter jets are the latest retaliatory attacks for the daily barrage of rocket hits on US forces in Iraq and Syria.
The US jets hit structures in Abu Kamal and a safe house in Mayadin - used for weapons and ammunition storage and command and control HQs.
The attacks come four days after US warplanes hit a munitions depot in eastern Syria and the same day five US Army soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash in the Mediterranean Sea.
Two weeks ago, two Iranian-controlled sites in similar locations were hit by U.S. airstrikes in retaliation for a flurry of attacks against U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq.
On Saturday, Pentagon officials told DailyMail.com that 'multiple one-way drones' were launched in the morning against US and coalition forces stationed at Rumalyn Landing Zone in northern Syria.

Why are we anywhere other than just in the CONUS right now?
Right now we have a DOD in desperate need of even basic manpower.
Manpower hampered by the push for the NEW NORMAL ideology in the Military. An ideology, which does not attract real Ground Pounders Soldiers and Warriors.

[Regnum] The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have killed over 60 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement since the start of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
Actions have consequences.
This was stated by the representative of the Israeli army, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus, during a briefing.
According to him, over 60 Hezbollah militants were killed during attempts to attack Israel, some of them were killed during attacks on the army, some were eliminated before the attacks.
As Regnum reported , on November 12 it became known that the IDF struck the positions of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement in response to the launch of rockets from Lebanese territory into northern Israel. It is noted that on November 11, from Lebanese territory, the Hezbollah movement fired several rockets into the area of Mount Dov in northern Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant threatened Lebanon with the consequences of entering into the conflict. Beirut could repeat the fate of the Gaza Strip if Hezbollah is drawn into the conflict, he said during a visit to a military base on the border with Lebanon.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrullah stressed on November 3 that the United States, while helping Israel, turns a blind eye to the humanitarian catastrophe in the Middle East and the killing of civilians. He called on Muslim countries to sever relations with Israel and stop supplies of energy and food.
