The purpose of the EEC, the European Economic Community, was to wage trade war on the USA. It's ugly stepchild the EU has more imperialistic ambitions...
#7
I really don't get this. The very, very strong dollar means that EU exports to the US are cheaper to us and that our exports to them are more expensive. So they should be seeing sharp improvements in their balance of trade with us. What is going on?

Fuck you pieces of shit. We already had a trade war and you won. Europe profits to the tune of $60 billion each and every single year from trade with us. We pay them handsomely for the privilege of trading with them.
And now, that we're making it more fair, suddenly they want to fuck us over? Fuck them. Aren't they the ones who, during Trump, gave us condescending lectures that tariffs don't work?
The plot led by several Trump-hating anarchists amusingly labelled as far right white nationalists.
[IsraelTimes] Ruling comes after two other militia members were found guilty of plotting to abduct Gretchen Whitmer ...Her Excellency, the dictator of Michigan, 2020 Dem VP contender who never got off the ground... and detonate a bomb, in protest of her COVID restrictions
Three members of a far-right US militia group on Wednesday were found guilty of domestic terrorism charges including providing support to people who plotted to kidnap and kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
The court action comes two months after two militia members were convicted of conspiring to abduct Whitmer and detonate a bomb over the tough COVID-19 pandemic restrictions she imposed on the northern state. They were among six people arrested in October 2020 following an FBI ...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. "Today, three defendants were found guilty of material support for terrorism, gang membership, and possession of a weapon while committing a felony in support of the plot to kidnap and kill me," Whitmer, a Democrat, said on Twitter shortly after the convictions were announced by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.
"No threat, no plot, no rhetoric will break my belief in the goodness and decency of our people. And these verdicts are further proof that violence and threats have no place in our politics," Whitmer added.

— all from Michigan and described as members of the Wolverine Watchmen — face up to 20 years in prison and $20,000 fines, the attorney general said in a statement. Sentencing is scheduled for December 15.
The kidnapping plot — which Nessel’s office said was aimed in part at inciting a US civil war — caused a national uproar when it was revealed just weeks before the divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... 2020 presidential election.
"Terrorist attacks and mass shootings are not spontaneous events, they are the result of planning, plotting and amassing resources in a build-up to violent mostly peaceful acts," Nessel said.
"The prosecution of these cases prevented horrific acts from taking the lives of innocent people."
The convictions come less than two weeks before Americans head to the polls in critical midterm elections to decide whether Democrats or Republicans control Congress, governorships and state houses across the nation. Whitmer is running for re-election in a tight race.

Stacey Abrams' voting rights nonprofit paid her campaign chair's law firm nearly $10 million in legal fees to handle a largely unsuccessful voter suppression case
Politico reported Monday that campaign chair Allegra Lawrence-Hardy's law firm, Lawrence & Bundy made $9.4 million in 2019 and 2020 from the group Fair Fight Action
The report came on the heels of Fox News Channel finding that Fair Fight Action had paid thousands to the group's director's family and friends

In a world other than the one we actually live in, followup relevant info would be itemized billing to the firm and and also from the firm if it paid out money to an entity that is Stacy Abrams. You could argue that this info would be covered by attorney client privilege, but that privilege prevents law enforcement from using communication between an attorney and client as evidence. It should not cover billing, law firm accounts payable, activity related to RICO cash flow.

Maybe pocket change to Z-Burg, but META stock took a big hit.
[AyPee] A Washington state judge on Wednesday fined Facebook parent company Meta nearly $25 million for repeatedly and intentionally violating campaign finance disclosure law, in what is believed to be the largest campaign finance penalty in U.S. history.
The penalty issued by King County Superior Court Judge Douglass North was the maximum allowed for more than 800 violations of Washington’s Fair Campaign Practices Act, passed by voters in 1972 and later strengthened by the Legislature. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson argued that the maximum was appropriate considering his office previously sued Facebook in 2018 for violating the same law.
Meta, based in Menlo Park, California, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
Washington’s transparency law requires ad sellers such as Meta to keep and make public the names and addresses of those who buy political ads, the target of such ads, how the ads were paid for and the total number of views of each ad. Ad sellers must provide the information to anyone who asks for it. Television stations and newspapers have complied with the law for decades.
In 2018, following Ferguson’s first lawsuit, Facebook agreed to pay $238,000 and committed to transparency in campaign finance and political advertising. It subsequently said it would stop selling political ads in the state rather than comply with the requirements.
Nevertheless, the company continued selling political ads, and Ferguson sued again in 2020.
Ferguson described the fine as the largest campaign finance-related penalty ever issued in the U.S.
Meta, one of the world’s richest companies, reported quarterly earnings Wednesday of $4.4 billion, or $1.64 per share, on revenue of nearly $28 billion, in the three month period that ended Sept. 30.
YAHOO-NEWS
"Investors wiped more than 67 billion dollars off the market value of Facebook's parent company Meta on Wednesday."
[NYPOST] Right-wing nonprofit research group Marco Polo finally has published its Hunter Biden laptop opus, a thorough forensic examination of every document on the first son’s notorious MacBook computer that he abandoned in a Delaware repair shop in April 2019.
The 634-page report (plus 2,020 footnotes) lists six alleged crimes committed by Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem mschine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family... — including tax evasion and violations of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) — alongside 459 crimes it alleges were committed by Hunter, including illegal foreign lobbying and money laundering.
The group’s firebrand ...firebrands are noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments... founder Garrett Ziegler, a 26-year-old former deputy to Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro, has sent the report to more than 4,000 people, including every member of the House and Senate, White House staff, US Attorney offices and every contact on the laptop.
Every contact? Oboy.
He also sent a copy to every one of Hunter’s former classmates in the class of 1988 at the tony Archmere Academy in Delaware.
Scorched earth. Mr. Ziegler is definitely not playing for pennies and matchsticks.
The accompanying note reads: "We thought you might be interested in reading about your most infamous classmate. We believe that Archmere Academy really molded Hunter into who he is today."
[NYPost] Whores gotta get paid, as TW noted Nancy Pelosi is creating static over a deal to take a massive group of TV stations private — after she and fellow House Democrats got more than $500,000 in campaign donations from Byron Allen, a comedian-turned-media mogul who wants to block the deal.
The House Speaker sent an Oct. 6 letter to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel expressing “serious concerns” about an agreement by Tegna — a publicly traded chain of 64 local TV stations that was spun off from newspaper giant Gannett in 2015 — to sell itself to the hedge fund Standard General for $8.6 billion.
Meanwhile, Federal Election Commission filings show that in the fourth quarter of last year Pelosi got $271,300 in campaign donations from Allen, who owns a group of cable-TV networks including The Weather Channel and is angling to nab Tegna’s nationwide broadcasting empire to widen their distribution.
During the same quarter, Allen — who earlier this month made headlines for buying a $100 million estate in Malibu, Calif. — also donated $275,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which backs Democratic candidates for the House, FEC filings show.

[SF Examiner - hat tip Rex Mundi]
A man who attacked Paul Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, specifically targeted their San Francisco home, people familiar with the matter said Friday.
Pelosi was attacked and severely beaten by an assailant with a hammer. Pelosi, 82, suffered blunt force trauma to his head and body, according to the two people with knowledge of the investigation into the attack who spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing probe. He was being treated by doctors for bruising, severe swelling and other injuries. Pelosi’s spokesman Drew Hammill said he was expected to make a full recovery.
The assailant is in custody, and the motivation for the attack is under investigation, the spokesman said.
“The speaker and her family are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time," Hammill said in a statement.
While the circumstances of the attack are unclear, the attack raises questions about the safety of members of Congress and their families as threats to lawmakers are at an all-time high almost two years after the deadly Capitol insurrection. The attack also comes just 11 days ahead of midterm elections in which crime and public safety have emerged as top concerns among Americans.
In 2021, Capitol Police investigated around 9,600 threats made against members of Congress, and members have been violently attacked in recent years. Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., was shot in the head at an event outside a Tucson grocery store in 2011, and Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., was severely injured when a gunman opened fire on a Republican congressional baseball team practice in 2017.
Members of Congress have received additional dollars for security at their homes, but some have pushed for more protection as people have showed up at their homes and as members have received an increasing number of threatening communications.
Capitol Police, tasked with protecting congressional leaders, said Nancy Pelosi was with her protective detail in Washington at the time her husband was attacked. She'd just returned this week from a security conference in Europe and is due to keynote an advocacy event Saturday evening with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Capitol Police said the FBI and San Francisco police were also investigating. The suspect is in the custody of the San Francisco police.
Often at Nancy Pelosi’s side during formal events in Washington, Paul Pelosi is a wealthy investor who largely remains on the West Coast. They have five adult children and many grandchildren. The two have been married 59 years.

I don't like anybody, even Pelosi being attacked in their own home. If I would maintain mine is inviolable it must extend to theirs.
Still I couldn't help but notice that Gabrielle Giffords 'was shot', while Steve Scalise was severely injured when a gunman opened fire. Isn't that like being shot or something?

I'll bet he's trying to frame someone with a 'bandaged head, bribed doctor' routine. You get severely beaten at 82 with a fuckin' hammer, you don't make a full recovery. Expect anything from these assholes, and give them zero credence.
Key paragraph: the attack raises questions about the safety of members of Congress ... as threats to lawmakers are at an all-time high almost two years after the deadly Capitol insurrection

The husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Paul, was assaulted with a hammer early Friday inside his San Francisco home by an attacker identified by police as David Depape, who a law enforcement source tells Fox News was shouting "Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?"
San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said Depape, 42, is now facing charges of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary and several several other additional felonies stemming from the incident after 2 a.m.
Scott said police responded to a wellbeing check and found Depape and Paul Pelosi, 82, struggling over a hammer. He said officers then witnessed Depape pull the hammer away from Pelosi and "violently assaulted" him.
Officers then immediately tackled Depape, disarmed him and took him into custody, while requesting emergency backup and rendering medical aid at the scene. The motive for the attack remains under investigation.
David Depape was identified as the suspect accused of attacking Paul Pelosi, the husband of Nancy Pelosi, with a hammer in the couple’s home. The name was first reported by Demian Bulwa, news director for the San Francisco Chronicle newspaper. Police have now confirmed the suspect’s name. David Depape is a Berkeley resident. Heavy will add a suspect photo to this story when one is obtained. What is Depape’s politics and was he on social media? On a blog and website, he was fixated on censorship and made anti-Semitic comments. Online records give Depape’s age as 42.
Joe Eskenazi, of Mission Local, tweeted, “My sources also name the suspect in this morning’s hammer attack on Paul Pelosi as David DePape, born 1980, of Berkeley. He would appear to be a former Castro nudist protester. Things appear set to be bizarre for a while.”
A 2013 article in the San Francisco Chronicle mentions Depape, although his name is spelled wrong. It describes him as a “hemp jewelry maker.” That article reported that Depape was the best man at the naked wedding of Gypsy Taub.
And the guy had some pretty grim anti-Semitic material up online.

CNN has already spun it as this DePape fellow being an 'election denier' and Capitol 'insurrection' nut.
He suddenly has a trail of disjointed conspiracy posts about rigged elections, democrat corruption etc.
(CNN)The man who allegedly attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband early Friday posted memes and conspiracy theories on Facebook about Covid vaccines, the 2020 election and the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, and an acquaintance told CNN that he seemed "out of touch with reality."
I say again, this is a Smollettian exercise by the Dems for the election. There was a staged attack, no one got hurt and the cops and doctors are all in on it. Chances are this DePape patsy is a druggie and so whacko he doesn't even know what he's agreed to.
But, if members of Congress are really in mortal danger by fringe actors... well ...[whistles]
Paul has had a day, maybe his Pfizer check cleared, has a couple drinks. About 11 he's like, "Know what would set this day and this buzz off...couple lines." Calls up one of his sources, DePape takes the call, shows up. Being etiquette and having a day, Paul lines them both up. Couple hours, couple more drinks and lines into it, Paul does something uncomfortable, maybe makes a move or suggestion, and sets off DePape. Cops get notified, panic button or something, make the 'wellness check' and break it all up.

Something doesnt smell right with this story. There's a good chance they try to gaslight this into being something of a MAGA inspired act, something that makes the right look evil.
Was it a random welfare check on the Pelosi household at 2:35am? That would be odd.
#35 was saying gay hook up. I was looking at various articles and didnt see break and entering listed among the charges. IDK. But I was curious if Pelosi's husband might be Bi. Then we have reports this afternoon that the intruder was in his underwear. Ha. I was wondering too, if drugs might have been involved.

Sounds a lot like the life of the former Cravath law partner, David Schwartz, in the 1990s, who was murdered in one of his sleazy ghey hookups in a cheap motel off the interstate in Connecticut.
The great journalist James B. Stewart wrote about the secret life of Schwartz in the New Yorker:
“When the funeral service was over," wrote Stewart, "most Cravath partners appeared to be relieved that it had ended without further embarrassment to the firm." Here's why, wrote Stewart:
“For the unspeakable facts were these: David Schwartz was murdered. He was killed in a sleazy Bronx motel. He was stabbed by a black eighteen-year-old male. He appears to have been leading a secret double life of clandestine and often dangerous sexual encounters. So far as can be determined, no one at Cravath and no one in his family had known.”
[YAHOO] Republican Rep. Liz Cheney on Thursday endorsed and plans to campaign for Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, the first time that the critic of former President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... , who lost her GOP primary, has crossed party lines to formally support a Democrat.
It must be a relief to be finally open about her inclinations. No doubt she is thinking of herself as another Ronald Reagan, who once made the trip in the opposite direction.
Cheney, of Wyoming, announced her support for the two-term House member from Holly, Michigan, in a statement by the Slotkin campaign that notes she plans to headline a campaign event with Slotkin in the Lansing-area district next Tuesday.
Slotkin is competing against Republican state Sen. Tom Barrett in Michigan's 7th Congressional District. Their race is considered a toss-up by both sides and one of the Republicans' chief targets in their campaign to win the House majority on Nov. 8.

[NYPOST] "Biden-Fetterman 2024" was the assessment of one wag on Twitter after the car-crash debate performance of John Fetterman, the Democrats’ stroke-damaged Senate candidate in Pennsylvania.
"In 2022, a debate performance like [Fetterman’s] can accurately be called ’presidential,’ " quipped another.
Boom. Boom.
Why do Democrats insist on putting cognitively impaired people on the ticket? It’s cruel.
From a 79-year-old president who gets lost and goes wandering every time he gives a speech, to Fetterman, another special-needs candidate who could not utter a coherent sentence on stage against the GOP’s Dr. Mehmet Oz Tuesday evening, the sociopathic ruthlessness of the Democratic machine is on full display.
It’s cruel to dwell on Fetterman’s performance. However repellent his policies, the poor man had a debilitating stroke five months ago.
Suffice to say that, while the gaslighting Philadelphia Inquirer declared Fetterman the winner with flying colors, that says more about the newspaper’s contempt for its readers than it does about the reality.
OVERWHELMING POLL
A Twitter poll after the debate had Oz the winner by 82% of respondents. The betting markets similarly moved sharply against Fetterman.
The real question is: How long are Democratic voters going to continue to allow themselves to be treated like fools?
It was one thing to hide President Biden in a basement under cover of the pandemic, but Democrats want to turn that ruse into a playbook.

[FoxNews] Former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker weighs in on the latest developments in the House Oversight Committee's investigation into Hunter Biden's ties to China.
Former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker said the new developments out of the investigation into Hunter Biden's business dealings are "very damaging" for the president. On "Fox & Friends First" Thursday, Whitaker argued the "shocking" evidence being sent to the U.S. attorney shows that China was trying to gather information on the Biden family.
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden and his administration worked extensively to work out a secret deal with Saudi Arabia to ease oil and gas prices right before the midterm elections, even though the Saudis ultimately backtracked.
Biden officials scrambled to convince the Saudis not to cut oil production before the midterm elections and thought they had succeeded once Biden agreed to meet with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Biden officials pushed for the Saudis to accelerate production in July and August and additional increases from September to December, which would significantly impact oil production ahead of the midterms.
Details of the deal were revealed by the New York Times:
First, the Saudis would accelerate an OPEC Plus production increase of 400,000 barrels per day already planned for September, moving it to July and August. Then the Saudis would get the cartel to announce a further production increase of 200,000 barrels per day for each month from September to December of this year.
On June 2, OPEC Plus announced they would move up the production increase scheduled for September — fulfilling the first part of the secret deal.
Team Biden soothed concerns from furious Democrats with details of the oil deal, the Times reports, after the White House would meet with the Saudis despite Biden promising to treat them as a “pariah” during his campaign.
Although Biden and the White House repeatedly said his trip to Saudi Arabia was not about the price of oil, details of the deal reveal how much of a priority it actually was to the administration.
But the deal that Biden and his team constructed blew up in their face.
OPEC+ announced only a boost of 100,000 barrels a day in August, and in September they announced they would cut production by 100,000 barrels.
In October, OPEC+ shocked Biden officials after they announced they would actually cut production by two million gallons a day instead of increasing production.

The CIA is planning the color revolution in Saudi Arabia right now. It will take a while to get organized, but I'd look for it in 3-6 months. Will it succeed like the Ukraine coup of 2014 or will it fail like the Venezuela coup of 2002? Only time will tell!

If the CIA is planning a Saudi overthrow, their team better not include anyone in the Biden team that was caught by surprise when their election scam failed. The administration has demonstrated a total lack of ability to predict Saudi policy. The most cogent CIA op parallel to a misunderstanding of prevailing conditions would be the Bay of Pigs debacle.
