[IsraelTimes] Seven Egyptian troops were killed and four more injured when a roadside kaboomwent kaboom! in the restive Sinai Peninsula, Egyptian officials said.
The officials said the kaboom Sunday destroyed a military armored vehicle traveling south of el-Arish, the thriving provincial capital of northern Sinai. The troops were heading to an area to comb it for suspected bad boy activities. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief news hounds.
Northern Sinai has been a haven for Islamic bad boys, who have waged regular attacks against troops and security forces.
Two coppers were killed in north Sinai on Friday after two snuffies fired at a minibus with a rocket-propelled grenade.
[Ynet] A Kenyan military front man says Kenyan soldiers stopped a terror attack by killing five suspected Islamic krazed killer bombers attempting to cross into Kenya from Æthiopia in a car carrying explosives and six boom jackets.
Bogita Ongeri said Sunday authorities recovered 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of TNT from the vehicle which was intercepted at Dolo along Kenya's border with Æthiopia on Saturday.
[REUTERS] Yemen's Shi'ite Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... group dismantled a protest camp blocking the country's main airport in Sanaa on Sunday, authorities said, but was keeping its fighters on the streets of the recently seized capital.
The dismantling of the encampment, which allowed traffic to move unobstructed between the airport and the capital for the first time in weeks, came as newly appointed Prime Minister Khaled Bahah, Yemen's ambassador to the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... , flew back home to take up his post as part of an agreement aimed at stabilizing the conflict-prone country.
The Houthis captured Sanaa on Sept. 21 after weeks of anti-government protests centering on fuel price rises. The group signed a power-sharing agreement with other political parties soon afterwards, a deal that was sanctioned by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, but this has not deterred them from pushing in to other parts of the country.
Under the terms of the power-sharing agreement, the Houthi group was supposed to start dismantling the protest encampment and withdraw its fighters from the capital once a new prime minister had been appointed.
The Yemeni Defence Ministry's website said on Sunday that the encampment had indeed been dismantled.
"The airport road has been opened after the tents were removed yesterday (Saturday) in implementation of the partnership and peace agreement," the website said, quoting an official at the capital's municipality. "Life in neighborhoods of the airport road is back to normal."
But residents of Sanaa said Houthi fighters were still in control of the city, operating checkpoints and keeping guard outside key ministries, commercial districts and diplomatic missions.

[DAWN] Indian and Pak troops traded cross-border fire Sunday injuring at least one Pak civilian in Janglora village of Sialkot's Bajwat sector, officials said, the latest in a series of festivities that began earlier this month and have claimed at least 20 civilian lives.
The maimed person was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Sialkot where all victims of the recent Indo-Pak festivities have been provided with free medical treatment and facilities.
The exchange of fire began when Indian troops resorted to "unprovoked" fire across the border that separates India-held Kashmire and Pakistain's Punjab province, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.
Each country holds part of the Himalayan territory but claims it in full. The two nations have fought two full-scale wars over Kashmire, though tensions have eased since the signing of a 2003 ceasefire.

[AnNahar] An Arab Israeli doctor has been killed fighting for the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group in Syria, Israel's Shin Bet domestic security service said on Sunday.
The agency said Othman Abu al-Qiyan, who studied medicine in Jordan and worked as an intern at an Israeli hospital, had died in the fighting in August.
His brother Idris had been tossed in the calaboose I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! by Israeli security forces in April and charged the following month with aiding Othman and another relative, Shafiq Abu al-Qiyan to travel to Syria via Turkey to join IS.
All three were from the Bedouin village of Hura in Israel's southern Negev desert, said Shin Bet.
Security authorities knew of about 30 Arab Israeli citizens who had made their way to Syria to fight for jihadist groups although only "a few joined IS, mostly those of a Salafist-jihadist background".
"This is a dangerous phenomenon, as those leaving for the (Syrian war) theater undergo military training, are exposed to Lion of Islam global jihad ideologies, and there is a concern that will be used to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel at the end of the day," said Shin Bet.
In March, a resident of the Arab Israeli town of Taibe was also arrested on his return from training in Syria.
"During interrogation, he said that he was asked to provide information on sensitive sites in Israel... and was asked to carry out a suicide kaboom in Israel," said the agency.
Arab Israelis number around 1.4 million, some 20 percent of Israel's population. They are the descendants of 160,000 Paleostinian Arabs who remained on their land when the Jewish state was established in 1948.

[IsraelTimes] The US military said Sunday it had airdropped weapons, ammunition and medical supplies to Kurdish forces defending the Syrian city of Kobani against Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... hard boys.
Three C-130 cargo aircraft carried out what US Central Command called "multiple" successful airdrops of supplies in the vicinity of Kobani, including small-arms weapons, provided by Kurdish authorities in Iraq.
The airdrops Sunday were the first of their kind and followed weeks of US and coalition Arclight airstrikes in and near Kobani, near the Turkish border. The US said earlier Sunday that it had launched 11 Arclight airstrikes overnight in the Kobani area.
In a statement Sunday night, US Central Command said the drops were intended to enable continued resistance to Islamic State efforts to take full control of Kobani.
The aircraft faced no resistance from the air or the ground, were not accompanied by fighter jets and exited the area safely, a senior B.O. regime official said, refusing to rule out a repeat of the action if needed, possibly in the near future.
The airdrops are almost certain to anger the Turkish government, which has said it would oppose any US arms transfers to the Kurdish rebels in Syria. Turkey views the main Kurdish group in Syria as an extension of the Turkish Kurd group known as the PKK, which has waged a 30-year insurgency in Turkey and is designated a terror group by the US and by NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions... In a written statement, Central Command said its forces have conducted more than 135 Arclight airstrikes against Islamic State forces in Kobani.
Using an acronym for the Islamic State group, Central Command said, "Combined with continued resistance to ISIL on the ground, indications are that these strikes have slowed ISIL advances into the city, killed hundreds of their fighters and destroyed or damaged scores of pieces of ISIL combat equipment and fighting positions."
"However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... the security situation in Kobane remains fragile as ISIL continues to threaten the city and Kurdish forces continue to resist," the statement continued.
One senior B.O. regime official said that Kurdish fighters had put up an "impressive" effort in the face of the emboldened IS organization, but cautioned that Kobani could still fall to the IS and the security situation was "fluid."
Nevertheless, "hundreds" of IS fighters had been killed in the escalating campaign in Kobani.
Washington and its Western allies have been pressing Turkey to take a more direct role in taking on the IS group in Kobane, but Ankara is reluctant to arm Kurds and intervene militarily against the hard boys, fearing an effective fighting force from its historic foes on its border.
On the prickly subject of whether the Turkish government has been informed beforehand of the resupply drop, a senior administration official in Washington said President Barack Obama Thatâs just how white folks will do you.... spoke to his counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan ... Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him... on Saturday "and was able to notify him of our intent to do this and importance we put on it".
The official added: "We understand the longstanding Turkish concern with the range of groups, including Kurdish groups, they have been engaged in conflict with and in peace talks with."
However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... the official said, Islamic State was "a common enemy" for the United States and Turkey.
Washington had been in contact with Ankara in recent days to stress the "urgency" of the need to resupply Kurdish fighters in Kobani.
The airdrops were the fastest way to get supplies to Kurdish fighters, one senior administration official said, "and an opportunity to strike a blow against ISIL. When we see an opportunity to target ISIL we will take them".
Separately, American-led warplanes launched 11 air strikes near Kobani on Saturday and Sunday, Central Command said, helping Kurdish fighters repulse a new IS attempt to cut their supply lines from Turkey.
Kobani's Kurdish defenders have been under IS assault for more than a month.

how about a moab really close to that ISIS hospital?
#3
Exactly. The point of combined arms is to cause the enemy to commit his force and then destroy it asymmetrically. We need more of these set piece battles to better understand ISIS' logistics network. Each node exposed is vulnerable in the future. Each battle reveals another vulnerability. Fight ISIS, yes fight.

John Kerry does another of his famous flip flops. This one a good flip flop. A week ago he said Kobane was insignificant in the overall strategy to defeat ISIS. He is now on with board the aerial resupply of Kobani's Kurdish YPG.
Secretary of State John Kerry appeared to switch his position on the Syrian town of Kobani on Monday, declaring it "irresponsible" to not help the Kurds there fighting the Islamic State group (also known as ISIS or ISIL), according to the Associated Press.
"We have undertaken a coalition effort to degrade and destroy ISIL, and ISIL is presenting itself in major numbers in this place called Kobani," Kerry said during a trip to Indonesia. "It would be irresponsible of us, as well [as] morally very difficult, to turn your back on a community fighting ISIL as hard as it is at this particular moment."
