Student movement organiser Shadik exposed as Shibir president
[NEWAGEBD.NET] Dhaka University administration's meeting with the leaders of several student organizations on Saturday exposed that Shadik Kayem, whom general students identified as an organiser of the anti-discrimination student movement, was the president of the DU unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir
... the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh...
, the student wing of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami
... a Pak catspaw remaining active in Bangla politix, loosely affiliated with the Pak religious party of the same name and closely affiliated with most of the terror organizations in Bangla. A member of the BNP's old four party governing coalition....
The issue went viral on social media after DU vice-chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan along with two pro-VCs, the treasurer, and the proctor had held meetings with 10 student organizations to discuss political activities by teachers, students and employees on the campus.
So he was part of the fiendish plot, not an innocent bystander?
Student movement organiser Shadik Kayem attended the meeting as the president of the DU unit of Chhatra Shibir though the organization had no visible activities on the campus for over a decade.

Some student organizations, after beginning the meeting, raised objections about the presence of Chhatra Shibir's representative in the meeting with the university administration. Many participants proposed reforms and suggested holding the Dhaka University Central Students' Union election instead of banning politics on the campus.

DU unit of Revolutionary Student Unity president Nuzia Hasin Rasha said that none of the student organizations knew whether there was anyone from the Dhaka University unit of Chhatra Shibir active on the campus.

'After beginning the meeting, the president of the Dhaka University unit of Shibir revealed himself. So, we wanted to know how the vice-chancellor knew the identity of the Shibir president beforehand. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
the VC avoided this question in the meeting,' she said.

A leader of one of the student organizations present in the meeting said that, according to the convention of Dhaka University's Environment Council after the 1990 mass uprising, Chhatra Shibir and Chhatra Samaj were banned on DU campus.

'Today, that agreement is ignored,' the student leader told New Age, seeking anonymity.

Mozammel Haque, organizing secretary of the Socialist Students' Front, said they had demanded an immediate convening of the Environmental Council meeting and taking steps for holding DUCSU elections.

General students at DU claimed that Shadik Kayem, the president of the DU unit of Chhatra Shibir, was an organiser in the anti-discrimination student movement.

Despite repeated attempts, central student coordinators Hasnat Abdullah, Sarjis Alam and Abdul Kader could not be reached over the telephone for comments.

In a Facebook post at about 8:00pm on Sunday, Abdul Kader, a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, revealed that Chhatra Shibir's Dhaka University secretary Farhad was involved in drafting the nine-point demand of the protesting students during the movement.

Case filed with International Crimes Tribunal against six RAB officers
[NEWAGEBD.NET] A case was filed with the International Crimes Tribunal against six Rapid Action Battalion officers on charge of crimes against humanity for reported abduction, enforced disappearance and torture of a physician in 2021.
Not the RAB! Nooooooooo!!!
In the first-ever case filed with the tribunal for reported abduction and enforced disappearance, the complainant, physician Israt Rafique Eshita, alleged that the officers kidnapped her from her house at Kafrul in the capital on July 28, 2021.

The accused officers include the then Squadron Leader Ali Ashraf, IT expert Rakib, and additional superintendent of police Md Akhteruzzaman.

According to Israt's complaint, she became a victim of enforced disappearance after the battalion officers kidnapped her and held her in an undisclosed location, where she was subjected to torture. She was produced before the media by the battalion five days later, on August 1, 2021.

On the following day, August 2, 2021, Israt was publicly presented as a 'fake physician' and implicated in three narcotics-related cases, which she claimed, were fabricated.

Her case took to 30 the number of cases filed with the tribunal, mostly targeting deposed prime minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia showed such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
, since her resignation and fleeing to India on August 5.

In a related development, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 has received two more complaints against Sheikh Hasina, involving allegations of crimes against humanity in connection with the deaths of Dr Sajib Sarkar and Sheikh Ashabul Yamin, both of whom were killed in police firing during the student-people uprising on July 18.

Halim Sarkar, the father of Dr Sajib Sarkar, filed a complaint accusing 71 individuals, including police members, of killing his son.

Sajib, who completed his MBBS from Taherunnesa Medical College in 2020, was rubbed out by police at Azampur of Uttara in the capital during peaceful protests.

'They killed my innocent son, and I want justice,' Halim Sarkar told the media after filing the case.

In another complaint, Yamin's uncle, Md Abdullah Al Mun Kadir, accused 78 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina, Awami League leaders Obaidul Quader, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and Mohammad A Arafat, of genocide and crimes against humanity under the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act of 1973.

Yamin was reportedly detained by police during the student-people uprising in Savar and shot at point-blank range. Disturbing footage of the police dragging Yamin's body to an armoured vehicle, dropping it on the street, and brutally discarding it on a road divider went viral and shocked the nation. Yamin was rushed to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead
He's dead, Jim!
The allegations against the accused are being pursued under sections 3(2), 4(1), and 4(2) of the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, as calls for justice intensify following the tragic events of July 18.

Israeli Lawyer Assaf Shmuelevitz Infiltrates IDF During October 7th Attack: Shared Operational Information to Anti-Netanyahu Protest Movement and Likely with the US State Dept.
[Gateway] This is a guest post.

Infiltration of the IDF Southern Command
On the morning of October 7th, during the Hamas attack on Israel, Assaf Shmuelevitz, a young lawyer, infiltrated the IDF Southern Command and gained access to highly sensitive military meetings.

Among these was a critical briefing where Defense Minister Yoav Galant was present. Shmuelevitz was exposed to real-time intelligence on military operations, war strategies, and vital information about hostages and the location of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

The infiltration occurred at a moment when decisions made in these meetings could alter the course of the conflict, highlighting the urgent need to act on collected intelligence in the first few hours of an attack.

Hezbollah Commanders Eliminated in Beirut Strike Were Plotting October 7-Style Invasion of Israel
[LI] The commanders of Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces, who were eliminated in Friday’s Israeli airstrike, planned an October 7-style invasion of Israel in response to the recent pager blasts, Arab and Israeli media reports indicate.

Senior Hezbollah terrorist Ibrahim Aqil and other top commanders of the Radwan Force had gathered to discuss their so-called "Plan to Conquer the Galilee" when four Israeli missiles hit their underground hideout below a parking lot in central Beirut.

Aqil, the mastermind of the 1983 Marine Barracks bombing, and 20 other Hezbollah commanders were killed in the precisely targeted Israeli airstrike, eliminating the entire command structure of the Iranian-trained Radwan Force.

Always helpful to put a face with a name.

Israeli forces raid Al Jazeera Ramallah bureau with closure order
[IsraelTimes] Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
i Al Jazeera TV said on Sunday morning that Israeli forces stormed its bureau in the West Bank’s Ramallah city with a military order to close it for 45 days.

The Qatar-based channel aired live footage of the Israeli troops raiding the channel’s office and handing a closure order to one of its staff before the broadcast was disrupted.

"There is a court ruling for closing down Al Jazeera for 45 days," an Israeli soldier told Al Jazeera’s West Bank bureau chief Walid al-Omari, the network reported.

"I ask you to take all the cameras and leave the office at this moment," the soldier said, according to the footage, which showed heavily armed and masked troops entering the office in Ramallah.

Recent months have seen a concerted effort by Israeli authorities to crack down on the network, regarded by many as propagating inflammatory anti-Israel and pro-Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
rhetoric.

Omari said the closure order accused the network of "incitement to and support of terrorism," according to Al Jazeera.

"Targeting journalists this way always aims to erase the truth and prevent people from hearing the truth," the bureau chief said.

Al Jazeera correspondent Nida Ibrahim said the network’s West Bank office closure "comes as no surprise" after Al Jazeera was hit with an earlier ban on reporting from inside Israel.

"We’ve heard Israeli officials threatening to close down the bureau," she said on the network. "But we (had) not been expecting it to happen today."

Another Al Jazeera journalist said staff were prevented from reporting on the raid and their cameras were confiscated.

In a statement, the Paleostinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemned the Israeli move, saying "this arbitrary military decision is considered a new violation against journalistic and media works, which has been exposing the occupation’s crimes against the Paleostinian people."

In May, Israeli authorities raided a Jerusalem hotel room used by Al Jazeera as its office after the government decided to shut down the Al Jazeera TV station’s local operations, saying it threatened national security. Israel took the network off the air and blocked its broadcasts following an emergency law passed in April.

The initial Knesset law allowed Israel to ban the TV station for a 45-day period, with further 45-day renewals subject to court approval. The Tel Aviv District Court has renewed the ban four times since then, mostly recently last week.

In a June ruling, the court found that there was a direct and causal connection between individuals who have carried out terror attacks inside Israel and the consumption of Al Jazeera content.

It also determined that there was a "close connection" between Al Jazeera and Hamas, that some Al Jazeera news hounds in Gazoo

had turned themselves into "assistants and partners" with the Paleostinian terror group, and that some of them had even carried out terror attacks.

The shutdown had not affected broadcasts from the West Bank or the Gaza Strip, from which Al Jazeera was still covering Israel’s war with Hamas that began on October 7 when the Paleostinian terror group led a devastating cross-border attack on southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 251 hostage.

IDF intercepts cruise missiles, drones fired from Iraq at north and south
[IsraelTimes] No impacts reported as most threats do not enter Israeli airspace; coalition of pro-Iran armed groups claims responsibility, says acting in support of Gaza

Air defenses intercepted two cruise missiles and two drones fired from Iraq, none of which hit Israeli territory, the military reported Sunday.

A group of Iran-backed Iraqi militias grabbed credit for the attacks.

Mid-morning, a suspected drone that entered Israeli airspace from the east was shot down by air defenses over the southern Golan Heights, the Israel Defense Forces said.

Sirens had sounded in several towns due to fears of falling shrapnel, but there were no injuries or damage in the incident.

Earlier, a drone from Iraq was intercepted as it headed toward southern Israel, setting off sirens in Be’er Ora, close to Eilat. It was shot down before it could enter Israeli airspace, according to the military.

Before dawn, two apparent cruise missiles launched from Iraq were shot down by the military as they headed toward the southern Golan Heights. Both targets were also intercepted outside of Israeli airspace, the IDF said.

"The fighters of the Islamic Resistance® of Iraq targeted on Sunday morning a strategic location in the occupied territories using drones," said the Iraqi coalition in a statement on Telegram, referring to Israel, and adding it was carried out "in support of our people in Gazoo

The same Iraqi group has claimed to have launched numerous drones at Israel amid the war in the Gaza Strip, most of which failed to cross Israel’s border or were downed by air defenses.

It grabbed credit for a drone attack earlier this month, saying it fired the weapon at the port city of Haifa. That too was shot down before it entered Israeli airspace, the IDF said at the time.

Last week an Israeli fighter jet intercepted a drone near the Sea of Galilee that had been launched from Iraq, the IDF said. The drone set off sirens in Tiberias and several other communities.

[IsraelTimes] During closed-door meeting with lawmakers, Netanyahu argues putting pressure on Hezbollah could help force Hamas’s Sinwar to the table, predicts ICC arrest warrants coming soon

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told politicians on Monday that he is weighing the so-called generals’ plan to lay siege to northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. , promoted by a group of senior IDF reservists.

Speaking to members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the prime minister also said that "according to the information we have, half of the [97 remaining] hostages in Gaza are alive," a committee member said.
Speaking to members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the prime minister also said that "according to the information we have, half of the [97 remaining] hostages in Gaza are alive," a committee member said.

His statements would indicate that around 50 hostages could be dead. The IDF has only confirmed the deaths of 33 of those still in Gaza.

At the closed-door session, Netanyahu indicated that the plan for a siege on remaining Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
forces is one of several being examined and which will be brought to the cabinet for further discussion in the coming days.

Presenting the scheme to the committee last week, retired Maj. Gen. Giora Eiland argued that the plan, which is not backed by the United States, would "change the reality" on the ground in Gaza.

"We have to tell the residents of north Gaza that they have one week to evacuate the territory, which then becomes a military zone, [a zone] in which every figure is a target and, most importantly, no supplies enter this territory.

Eiland argued that a siege is not only an effective military tactic but is also compliant with international law. "What matters to [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar is land and dignity, and with this maneuver, you take away both land and dignity," he said.

Eiland has been critical of Israel’s conduct of the war in Gaza, telling The Times of Israel last week that as long as Hamas retains control over the distribution of food and fuel, it will be able to replenish its coffers and recruit new fighters.

"You can’t win a war while this is the situation in Gaza," he said. "The slogan that ’only military pressure will bring victory’ has no basis whatsoever. The wars of the 21st century are based on something else. The most important parameter is the population, and those who can control the population win the war."

Netanyahu told the committee that controlling the distribution of humanitarian aid is key to winning in Gaza and that efforts to enlist local tribes had failed.
They had their chance, but were afraid to take it. Oh , well — on with the war.
As such, he said enacting a military regime to run affairs in the territory may be necessary for now, even if it is not his goal.

Likud MK Amit Halevi, a member of the committee, welcomed the Eiland plan, saying that it marked "the right direction" for Israeli policy in Gaza.

"In order to defeat Hamas we must control the land and the population. There is no other way to victory," he told The Times of Israel, arguing that unless Hamas’s civil control is eliminated, the terror group will be able to continue to recruit new fighters.

Such an approach is also "the only chance for a hostage deal" because it will put additional pressure on Sinwar to come to the table and make concessions, he argued.

"If he has food for years and the international pressure is on Israel, why does he need to make a deal?" Halevi said.

According to sources familiar with Sunday’s discussion, Netanyahu declined to address New Hope MK Gideon Sa’ar’s announcement Saturday that he had declined the prime minister’s offer to take over the role of defense minister, replacing Yoav Gallant. In a statement on Saturday evening, the chairman of the hawkish opposition party said he could not take up the position amid the significant escalation of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
— although he argued that despite critics’ claims, he was qualified for the job.

Netanyahu predicted that the International Criminal Court (ICC) was likely to soon issue arrest warrants for Gallant and him. Earlier this month, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan called on the court to issue arrest warrants he requested in May for Netanyahu, Gallant and leaders of Hamas "with utmost urgency."

Khan is a "political guided missile," Netanyahu told politicians.

He also denied standing in the way of a Gaza hostage deal, insisting that Hamas is the intransigent party, having demanded 29 revisions to a proposed ceasefire outline, while asserting that Israel had accepted all the conditions laid out by American mediators.

Netanyahu has been widely reported to have added new conditions to those proposed by the Americans, including Israel holding on the Gaza-Egypt border in the first stage of a ceasefire and hostage deal. But US officials have also indicated that Hamas demands remain a major stumbling block to an agreement.

According to Hebrew media reports, the prime minister slammed "fake reports" that he was responsible for preventing an agreement and said that Hamas does not currently want a ceasefire deal. He also raised a new idea for a deal that he said had come up in internal discussions, under which Israel would agree to a series of brief ceasefires in Gaza, with a small number of hostages to be freed in each, Channel 12 news reported.

He also reportedly argued that putting pressure on Hezbollah in the north could help force Sinwar to the table.

ONGOING BATTLE AGAINST HEZBOLLAH
Addressing the current upsurge in hostilities against Hezbollah, he said, "We are talking about distancing Hezbollah from the border and degrading its capabilities. This is not a one-off event. We will continue, but would prefer not to get to all-out war."

Netanyahu’s remarks at the Knesset came only hours after he released a video statement vowing that the Hezbollah would "get the message" after a series of dramatic operations against the Iran-backed terror group in recent days.

Hezbollah expanded its range of rocket attacks in the early hours of Sunday to hit the greater Haifa area and the Jezreel Valley, putting some two million Israelis in range of its strikes.

41,431 Palestinians claimed killed in Israel's Gaza offensive since Oct 7
[GEO.TV] At least 41,431 Palestinians have been killed and 95,818 injured in Israel's military offensive on Gaza since October 7, the Gaza health ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
Simple solution: Surrender now, don't start any more wars.

Looking at the links screen counter pic, the 1st thing I thought. Hamas sure misjudged the IDF response to that terrorist operation.

Next.
How little HAMAS cared about Gazan's.

The next was the Number of Hostages freed since Oct. 7th.

Most of the hostages that were released were part of a very short-lived hostage-and-ceasefire deal. A deal which ran between Hamas and Israel from Nov 24th to Dec 1st.

Then HAMAS needed to act like it was in charge and started demanding and getting greedy. Which I feel pushed the IDF into a GAZA wide rescue mission and a military natural goal of eliminating HAMAS to keep this from happening again.

Which then exposed how deep GAZA was into supporting Anti-Israel Terrorists.

Then just where in the hell does the Gaza health ministry get it data or does it just add 40 to its count for what IDF claims?

Finally as much as I hate to give credit to CNN,
A good link with the names and pictures of the released Hostages .

You also note the majority of the hostages were females and or children.

#2  Considering that Gaza gets money and food from the UN, it would make sense that over the years Hamas inflated Gazan population with fake names to get more resources from the UN and other donors.

Now, they can write off these fake people as killed by Israelis, and use those names to artificially add to the death toll.

Obviously this is just a guess from me. But it would make sense if they did do this.

#5  The US State Department report states: "The U.S. government estimates the total Palestinian population at 3 million in the West Bank and 2 million in the Gaza Strip (midyear 2022)." It does not, however, indicate the source of that data. It is likely, as stated above, that the figures are overstated for reasons given above.

#6  From 2006, published by the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies at Bar-Ilan U:

The Million Person Gap: A Critical Look at Palestinian Demography

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Population statistics and predictions of the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) are unreliable. A BESA study that subjects Palestinian demography to rigorous analysis shows that the 2004 Palestinian population of the West Bank and Gaza stood at 2.5 million; not the 3.8 million claimed by the Palestinians. The 1997 PCBS population survey – which has been widely used as the basis for subsequent studies – inflated numbers by including over three hundred thousand Palestinians living abroad and double-counting over two hundred thousand Jerusalem Arabs included in Israel’s population survey. Later PCBS broadcasts echoed the forecasts of the 1997 study, reporting unrealized birth forecasts, including assumptions of mass Palestinian immigration that never occurred, and disregarding significant Palestinian emigration from the territories to Israel and neighboring Arab countries. The resulting PCBS report for 2004 inflated the size of the Arab population in the West Bank and Gaza by over fifty percent. The BESA study and further demographic research indicate that Israeli concerns about demographic pressure from the West Bank and Gaza have been exaggerated.

Israel probing whether Hamas leader and Oct. 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar has been killed: reports

, according to multiple reports.

Some media claim Sinwar may have been killed or maimed in one of the most recent bombings in an unspecified part of the Gaza Strip, nearly a year since the terror chief green-lit the Oct. 7 terrorist attack that sparked the war.

Officials with the Israeli intelligence agency Shin Bet and Israel Defense Forces said there is no new evidence to suggest that Sinwar is dead but that they are continuing to investigate the possibility.

But Sinwar, who has eluded the IDF since the terror attack more than 11 months ago, has gone quiet in the past, a tactic that spurred previous false reports of his death.
Look for one of his ears. They're YUGE
During the Israeli military's advancements across southern Gaza in December, numerous reports emerged claiming that Sinwar was maimed or killed in an airstrike.

Sinwar was last spotted disappearing with his family inside Hamas' vast underground tunnel network days after the terror attack, which killed more than 1,200 people in Israel and saw 251 others kidnapped.

Netanyahu's New Front: Israel and Hezbollah Exchange Massive Blows
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Velesov
A good summary. See also here and here.
[REGNUM] On the night of September 22, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported a successful attack on 290 Hezbollah sites in Lebanon. According to the Israelis, 400 of the Shiite movement's rocket launchers were hit.

The next round of escalation in the Middle East, which already reeks of gunpowder and blood, was triggered by the mass detonation of electronic devices belonging to members of the Lebanese Hezbollah on September 17 and 18.

At that time, a mass detonation of pagers, radios and other electronic devices killed at least 37 people and injured more than 3,000. Israel officially denies any involvement in the explosions.
I don't think that's true. They just offered a "No comment"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened Hezbollah, saying that in just a few days, Israeli forces had carried out a series of attacks that the enemy could not even imagine. “If Hezbollah has not gotten the message, I promise you, they will,” he assured.

Earlier, the head of the Israeli Defense Ministry, Yoav Galant, also announced his readiness to continue military operations against Hezbollah. During a visit to the country's Air Force command post, he said: " Our actions will continue until the goal is achieved: when we safely return the residents of northern Israel to their homes."

However, Hezbollah understood the Israeli message in its own way. Several hours after the Israeli attack, an air raid siren woke up residents of Haifa, Nazareth, and Migda Hemek. At about 5 a.m. Moscow time, Hezbollah armed units fired more than 100 rockets at northern Israel.

The attack targeted military-industrial complex factories that specialize in the production of electronic communications equipment and devices. These enterprises are located in the Zovulon area, north of the city of Haifa. Hezbollah called the strike a response to the sabotage of September 17 and 18 and the massacre of children and women in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Air Force base in Ramat David was also hit. Two waves of Fajr-1 and Fajr-2 rockets were launched from Lebanese territory. The Lebanese allegedly conducted aerial reconnaissance of the area using drones back in July.

"We have never seen anything like this, not even in 2006. We all assumed that there would be a response from Hezbollah, but we didn't think it would be so strong, especially when there is the Iron Dome that is supposed to protect us," a resident of Kiryat Bialik, a suburb of Haifa, told the weekly Maariv.

In turn, the Israeli side reported that most of the air targets during this attack were intercepted by air defense systems. Only a few people received minor shrapnel wounds.

The day before, due to the ongoing rocket attacks in the northern regions of Israel, the country's authorities introduced a special situation. According to IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari, the special regime will be in effect north of Haifa. Citizens of the country will be able to continue working and studying where there is an opportunity to take refuge in shelters. Mass events are now prohibited.

Meanwhile, the number of victims of the Israeli Air Force strike on the suburb of Lebanon's capital Beirut continues to grow. Earlier, the Lebanese Health Ministry reported 45 dead. By the evening of September 22, the country's Civil Defense Authority had already reported 50 dead. The fate of another 11 people is still unknown.

On September 20, the Israelis fired four rockets at the Dahiya area. The target of the attack, according to Galei Tzahal Radio, was a bunker housing the movement's special operations commander, Ibrahim Akil. At least 15 of his comrades were killed along with him.

The U.S. State Department is urging its citizens to leave Lebanon while they can still board commercial flights due to the unpredictable nature of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. "The U.S. Embassy may be unable to assist American citizens who choose to remain," the statement said.

Earlier, the Pentagon reported the arrival of a US Navy group led by the aircraft carrier USS Truman CVN75 in the eastern Mediterranean Sea on September 23.

Politico, citing sources in the US presidential administration, reports that American authorities fear the start of a full-scale military conflict. The latest attacks on Lebanon, American officials believe, are a prelude to the start of a military campaign.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog also declared his country's reluctance to enter into a new war. "However, Lebanon has become hostage to the terrorist organization and, at the same time, the political party Hezbollah," he said in an interview with the British television channel Sky News.

Director of the Center for Middle East and Central Asian Studies Semyon Bagdasarov believes that the current Israeli cabinet will not win the war in Gaza. Therefore, Netanyahu needs a second front to sweeten the bitterness of failures in Palestine and improve his precarious position within Israel itself.

"Netanyahu will not win in Gaza in any case. He understands this himself, so he is trying to find happiness elsewhere," the orientalist believes.

The number of trained Hezbollah fighters, according to the organization's Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, is about 100,000 people. This will greatly complicate Israel's military actions in the event of a transition to a ground operation, the price for which could be prohibitively high.
Or possibly not, depending. Where did Hezbollah source their guns and bullets and cars? What about their pretty uniforms?

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Early Monday morning: IDF warns Lebanese civilians to immediately move away from homes used by Hezbollah to store weapons, IAF airstrikes hit Beqaa Valley

[IsraelTimes] IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari issues a message to Lebanese civilians in border villages, warning them against Hezbollah’s use of their homes to store weaponry.

, in the near future we will strike terror targets in Lebanon. We call on everyone who is near properties or inside homes where Hezbollah is hiding weapons, we call on you to distance yourselves from them immediately. This is for your safety and protection," he says.

Hagari shows previously unreleased footage of Hezbollah operatives preparing to launch a cruise missile from within a civilian home in a southern Lebanon village. The building was targeted in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
"Hezbollah puts you and your families in danger. Hezbollah is planning to launch these weapons toward Israel, stay away from them immediately for your own protection," he says.

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the pastor had finally been wrestled from the pulpit.
Y'got the wrong guy! he yelled just before Sergeant Malone's billy club landed...

Hagari says that the ongoing widespread strikes in Lebanon come after the military identified Hezbollah preparations to launch rockets at Israel.

He says the strikes will continue to "remove the threats."

IDF sends text messages to residents in south Lebanon, Beqaa: Stay away from Hezbollah buildings
[IsraelTimes] People in south Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley are receiving text messages warning them to stay away from buildings used by Hezbollah to store weapons, Hebrew-language media reports.

“If you are in a building that has Hezbollah weapons, stay away from it until further notice,” the text messages read, echoing an earlier message from IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari.

Large airstrikes reported in Beqaa Valley, south Lebanon
[IsraelTimes] Large Israeli airstrikes are reported by Lebanese media in southern Lebanon as well as deep within the country in the Beqaa Valley.

The IDF has said it is carrying out extensive strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and will provide further details later.

terror group in Gaza and engaged in daily fighting with the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon — both Iranian proxies — since Hamas committed its onslaught in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

The Revolutionary Guards added on Sunday that members of the network of 12 operatives were arrested in six different Iranian provinces, but did not say when.

Tehran frequently claims to foil Mossad operations in the country, but the veracity of such claims is unclear.

The arrests Sunday came in the immediate wake of a series of devastating security breaches suffered by Iranian-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, including the violent mostly peaceful explosion of thousands of pagers, walkie-talkies, and other electronics. Among those hurt in the attacks, widely blamed on Israel, was Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon Mojtaba Amani, who is reported to have lost an eye.

Shortly after the liquidation, The Telegraph reported that the Mossad had enlisted agents from within the Revolutionary Guards to plant explosives in the Tehran guesthouse where Haniyeh was staying.

The Hamas chief was visiting Tehran at the time to attend the inauguration of the country’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, who was elected after the president, Ebrahim Raisi, was killed in a helicopter crash in May, along with the country’s foreign minister and five others.

The Iranian investigation into Raisi’s death concluded that the crash was caused by bad weather, although an Iranian member of parliament reportedly said that the late president had carried a Hezbollah pager of the type targeted last week.

Schools in southern Lebanon shut down following Israeli strikes
It seems only fair, given that the schools in northern Israel are already closed. Lebanon might want to consider closing schools in the Dahiyeh neighbourhood of Beirut, too
[GEO.TV] The media office of Lebanon's Ministry of Education and Higher Education has instructed all heads of educational institutions in conflict-affected areas to close their schools due to the unsafe conditions caused by ongoing fighting, according to the National News Agency (NNA).

Schools must also notify students and relevant educational districts about the closures, as reported by the NNA. Additionally, the Lebanese University has announced that its branches in the southern cities of Sidon, Nabatieh, and Tyre will be closed tomorrow.

These interruptions to Lebanon's education system follow Israel's extensive strikes on the south last night, where 400 sites were targeted, according to Israel's reports.
