"Human nature is unchanging and remains irrational. Evil is eternal. Unfortunately, appeasement is often seen by thugs not as magnanimity to be reciprocated but as timidity to be exploited."
This is the giant blind spot in the brain of the NPR-listening pseudointellectual class - like Mrs. Tennessee. They don't understand this basic proven truth that VDH can lay out in three simple sentences.
They really think they can buy the world a Coke.
This is what happens when you want a narrative to be true so badly that you ignore reality. This is what happens when you are taught Zinn/Chomsky history instead of real history. This is what happens when a nation has been too wealthy for too long and lots of its citizens never really struggled or had to deal with adversity and their view of human nature is based on living in philosophically insular enclaves like college campuses or tony, chic urban neighborhoods, doing jobs that aren't really productive or necessary but exist due to said affluence.
When the bad times come for those types, and the thugs foreign OR domestic) are standing before them with a gun, they really think that they can say, "No, you don't understand, I was against the Iraq War, and I voted for Obama. and I hate Christians, and I believe in diversity!", and the thugs will say, "Oh, okay, I'll just leave now". There is literally no understanding that the thugs won't even spare the breath to laugh before they blow the squishy leftist's brains all over the wall behind her.
Mrs Tennessee is exactly the sort of person who goes around saying that things are different this time - but who can never tell you how, precisely.

Posted by: no mo uro You need to get out more as well. Rub the sleepy outta your eyes, take your zoloft and take a stroll outside. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the skies are blue. Breath in the fresh air.
Oh, I get war and sacrifice - both downrange and at home. Been there, several times, done that, got the scars on my mind and my body, and lost buddies as my re-ward. You? What say we skip the bona fides and tail-sniff.
We need to concenrate on and win one war in a row - first, against ISIS, and then against the cartels...the near enemy for us. And then I say we take a break - how 'bout that?
IMO, VDH is a dumbazz, he never had skin in the game, and he needs his world war cloud drama to remain relevant and feel better about himself. There were no three simple sentences in that whole rambling posting of his - give me a break.

The only thing I think he got wrong about Iraq was not realizing the Dems would sabotage everything and pull troops out the first time they had the chance (as they did with Vietnam).
Pretty much only Democrats can start wars because they'll support their own, and the Republicans are honorable enough to see a conflict through.
1- Al Qaeda was not there in 2003...AQ is the enemy.
2- There were no WMD.
3- Never ever nation build.
We did not need to invade and occupy IQ - a raid at most would have been sufficient. However, we broke our Army and many Soldiers with the unnecessary occupation.
What say we skip the bona fides and tail-sniff. I am not gonna be preached to about evil by uro - I will respond and establish my credentials as I see fit. Such as first - I am a Mr. Tennessee, not a Mrs. Tennessee :) and I have been there, done that, seen evil and thoroughly understand its consequences.

#11 Tennessee, another case could also be made: 1. Enter Iraq
2. *Break things* until they succumb
3. Exit thru Syria & Iran
4. Repeat step 2 with *extreme malice*
5. Demand Saudi Arabia's unconditional surrender Posted by: Crusader
I would concur with about all of that. The raid plan is a plan I could live with (minus #3 - a little leery of biting off more that we can chew tactically with Iran). Really like #5 - KSA = AQ/ISIS. Just as long as we don't try to stay and fix anything we break.
Where was it at in 2003? There wasn't plenty to go around...little, if any, and that was partially destroyed, degraded materiel. Not worth going to war over...no terrorist could ever figure out how to use it... AQ however, used our planes as WMD. No AQ in IQ at that time. Not tracking.
They are making it now, well trying to make it in the ISIS held areas.
[Breitbart] Glenn Reynolds, a University of Tennessee law professor and creator of the Instapundit blog, was suspended from Twitter after stating that a motorist blocked in by protesters during the riots in Charlotte, North Carolina, should "run them down."
Reynolds posted a video from a news source depicting multiple protesters on the interstate blocking and surrounding vehicles. Reynolds simply added, "Run them down." His statement may have been good advice, as protesters in other areas of Charlotte were throwing large rocks from overpasses towards oncoming cars, endangering many drivers.
Following the tweet, Reynolds’ account was temporarily suspended. However, Reynolds tweeted later Thursday that his account had been reinstated.

Prof. Reynolds said "Run them down" and the PC police were called out. They surrounded trucks and other vehicles on the interstate and I suspect motorists were in fear for their lives. There were three thugs working over a white guy in a parking garage in Charlotte. He was begging for mercy. His clothes were torn off and he was kicked and punched for being white. Recall when Reginald Denny (white) was dragged from his truck and hit with a brick and beaten nearly to death after the Rodney King incident in LA in 1992.
The PC police are often ensconced in their "safe spaces", gated communities, government offices, political offices, or academic environs and have never been in a riot, mugged, robbed, raped, or jacked. It is easy to criticize those who are in the thick of things for what they might say or do that is deemed inappropriate.
When I saw the guy getting beaten up in the parking garage, my first thought was I'd drop em if able. I am sympathetic towards Reynolds what he said in the spur of the moment and victims who have been terrorized in a riot or a crime. I am sympathetic towards cops who have to deal with this crap every day. I am sympathetic towards my friend who stopped to get gas and was jacked with the kids in the back. BTW, he always goes armed now--everywhere. I have no sympathy for POS like Soros who bankrolls BLM and the ensuing chaos that comes from stirring things up. I have no sympathy for a president who shoots from the lip every time there is some incident which is spun into a racial incident even when it is not without ever knowing the facts.

I refuse to recognize this bullshit term of "Islamophobia" invented by the left and others to prevent anything from being done. It is not always easier to do nothing than to do something. The price may be far higher.
[Wash Times] I have long wondered how President Obama picks his enemies and his friends. He gushes over Iran, murderous, evil terrorists, who kill gays and want to destroy Israel, but makes fun of Vladimir Putin and Russia on the international stage, "...he's got that kind of slouch, looking like the bored kid in the back of the classroom." Then, in the middle of the night, it hit me: Mr. Obama's a racist of the worst kind.
Russia is a predominantly white country. Africans are a rare sight in Moscow. There are plenty of central Asians but you'll be hard pressed to find a person of color. They are there but not in numbers. That really bothers Mr. Obama. To deal with such a nation with respect, especially one that is rising as a counter to Mr. Obama's failed foreign policy, just really gets under Obama's skin.
Mr. Obama campaigned as a uniter, preaching not a red or blue America but a United States of America. He never meant it. America, and its European roots, are facts Mr. Obama wanted to destroy from the get-go. European, Judeo-Christian America created the Magna Carta in the tradition of the Greeks and the Roman republic. America created the greatest experiment in allowing the human being to thrive ever known to mankind. A freedom-based market economy that gives the individual the keys to their future and makes iPhones and sends people to the Moon. Mr. Obama wanted to destroy this culture, these roots, this heritage from day one in the Oval Office. "God Damn America!" was his hidden creed. To destroy any vestige of European, yes white, culture was his goal. To start a race war was his agenda, to fan the flames of victimization to destroy the white part of America as it exists today.
That is why Mr. Obama has championed illegal immigration. That is why he encouraged the "children" to immigrate from Central America, sending passenger jets to bring them here. This is why he brings tens of thousands of Muslim refugees (0.5% Christian) from the Middle East instead of building them a safe space there, and wants to bring hundreds of thousands more.
The rule of law given to us from our English brethren, the Romans and the Greeks, Mr. Obama hates and disrespects with a passion. He ignores it and tears it down except where it suits him. He does not respect American culture. Running a corrupt government that uses the agencies of government to attack the political opposition is not American, it is gangsta. People say he is a decent man. A decent man doesn’t use the IRS to go after others. A decent man doesn’t allow young black men to rot in a violent, inner-city cesspool of anarchy. A decent man doesn’t refuse to prosecute overt criminality and put the fix in to the FBI.
L. Todd Wood, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, flew special operations helicopters supporting SEAL Team 6, Delta Force and others. After leaving the military, he pursued his other passion, finance, spending 18 years on Wall Street trading emerging market debt, and later, writing. The first of his many thrillers is "Currency." Todd is a contributor to Fox Business, Newsmax TV, Moscow Times, the New York Post, the National Review, Zero Hedge and others. For more information about L. Todd Wood, visit LToddWood.com.

Wait, aren't Iran and Putin allies at the moment? And isn't the current administration the ones who mocked Palin for saying that Russia could invade Ukraine? Sent them a "reset" button right after the invasion of Georgia? Announced scaling back missile defense in Poland on the anniversary of the Russian invasion in WW2? Told Mitt Romney "The Eighties Called, They Want Their Policies Back?"
Not much of a "Conspiracy Theory" kind of person, but the closing moments of this vid are kind of weird.

I would not put it past the Hillary people to stage things as indicated in this vid. They are desperate and the coronation was not supposed to get derailed--it was supposed to be a walk-in-the- park and wait things out until the inevitable coronation.

The cell cameras were way off. One had flashing bulbs when there were no flashes, one had half-moon bunting instead of flags, one had, I think, a yellow three-wheeler.
There is no third dimension of Hillary, flags.
The distance between the crowd and HiRC seems to be a bit close as well.

And she turned around end and did her famous I see ya point at the flag, which might have happened I guess, in some universe. Some flaky not sure what.
On Monday, Russian forces bombed a humanitarian convoy in Syria. They destroyed 18 aid trucks and killed 20 civilians.
But to understand why the Russians did so, you should first search “Putin pen” on YouTube. Watch the final 45 seconds and you’ll see two central tenets of Putin’s personality: first, his hard-edged sense of humor; second, his cultivation of varying images of himself.
Putin wants some to view him as a tough-headed realist. He wants others to see him as a servant of the common man. And most important, he wants his adversaries to believe he is a leader who cannot be deterred from his destiny. That cultivation of his image is exactly why Putin bombed this convoy.
The Russians are denying that their aircraft were operating above Aleppo during the strike, but they know the U.S. government quickly figured out that they were responsible. After all, every time the Russians or Syrians launch jets, U.S. radar and intelligence assets carefully monitor them, warning U.S. forces of any deliberate Russian or Syrian air strike.
The monitoring also provided valuable intelligence on where Russian military attention is focused. Regardless, Putin knows the U.S. employs these capabilities and that we would have been focused on Russia’s heavy air coverage of Aleppo. And that leads to the key takeaway: Putin just doesn’t care that he’s been caught. On the contrary, his strategy is actually served by his lack of concern. As I noted at NRO when the cease-fire began last week:

I have it! I have it! Putin is afraid his title of Public menace #1 will be taken by Trump. That's why he bombs humanitarian convoys (or, like me, he just doesn't believe that "humanitarian" and Islam can mix).
[Guardian] Hall of Fame coach Mike Ditka has leveled blistering criticism at Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel during the national anthem, saying he has "no respect" for the San Francisco 49ers quarterback whose protest has sparked a national discussion over racial injustice, inspired dozens of NFL players to follow suit and landed him on the cover of Time magazine.
"I think it's a problem, anybody who disrespects this country and the flag," the longtime NFL coach said in a radio interview on KRLD-FM in Dallas. "If they don't like the country, if they don’t like our flag, get the hell out. That's what I think.
[TheZman] Black America does not have a race problem. It ain’t honkies robbing, looting and killing in the ghetto. They don’t have a cop problem. The cops shoot fewer black offenders than white offenders. They don’t have a gun problem either. Black America has a black guy problem. They have far too many black guys robbing, looting and killing, almost always doing so at the expense of blacks. They won’t let me fix that problem, so stop demanding I feel bad about it. I’m done. I’m all blacked out.

I love how all the worst black communities have been run by Democrats and yet so far Dems and their policies have escaped blame. It seems that longterm brainwashing is effective.

It seems that longterm brainwashing is effective.
Actually, scapegoating has some long legs. I'm sure trailing wife and g(r)om can testify to that. Human nature dislikes looking in the mirror to face the real problems. Then there is displacement. See - "counter revolutionary saboteurs".
[Breitbart] Monday on Fox News Channel’s "The O’Reilly Factor," commentator Mark Steyn recounted his recent visit to Europe where he examined those that have had their lives impacted directly by Islamic terrorism.
Steyn agreed with earlier comments from host Bill O’Reilly that the migrants were not the problem and that it was jihadist that were. However, there was a correlation between a country’s Muslim population and how much terrorism takes place within its borders.
Partial transcript as follows:
O’REILLY: Political commentator Mark Steyn recently returned from Europe where he attended the priest funeral and spoke with a number of people affected by the Jihad. Mr. Steyn joins us now from Colchester, VT. What did you learn there? What was the headline that you learned in Europe, Mr. Steyn?
STEYN: Well, you said at the top of the show that migrants aren’t the problem, jihadists are. And that’s true but there is a crude arithmetic here, Bill which is that the more Muslims you have, the more terrorism you have. So, that France, Belgium and Germany have very high Muslim populations, and they have a lot of terrorism. When you were in Poland and the Czech Republic, they have very few Muslims so they don’t have terrorism. And the question for Europe, and I think for the United States a few years down the line is whether you can contain this, just by the big security state. I was on the beach.
O’REILLY: Go ahead.
STEYN: Well, no, you can’t. I mean, there were soldiers everywhere in France now. Outside of schools, shopping centers, railway stations. I was on the beach at Saint-Tropez where the topless women have armed soldiers with automatic weapons patrolling between the topless women. It’s a sad sight and it’s an absurd sight. Ultimately it’s no solution.

Cause and effect relationship between the more Muslims you have and terrorism?
1. Cause must precede effect in time. (Yup)
2. Cause and effect vary together. (Yup)
3. No plausible alternative explanations. (and Yup)
