[NY POST] FERGUSON, Mo. -- Four civilians carrying military-style rifles and sidearms patrolled a riot-torn street in Ferguson, Missouri, early Tuesday, saying they were there to protect a media organization but drawing swift criticism from police and protesters alike. No mention made of POS wearing man dress and kufi.
The appearance of the four men, all white, quickly drew stares in the mostly black neighborhood, which exploded into violence again on Sunday night as protesters marked the police killing of an unarmed black teen a year ago.
The men identified themselves as part of a group called "Oath Keepers," which describes itself as an association of current and former US soldiers and police who aim to protect the Constitution.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit civil rights organization, has described the "Oath Keepers" as a "fiercely anti-government, militaristic group," and St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar condemned their appearance in Ferguson.
"Their presence was both unnecessary and inflammatory," he said, adding that police would work with county prosecutors to see if the men had broken any laws.
Led by a man who gave his name only as John, the group, whose members wore bulletproof vests and carried sidearms in addition to combat-style rifles, said they had come to protect a journalist from the conservative "Infowars.com" website.
"There were problems here, there were people who got hurt. We needed to be prepared for that," said the man, who noted that Missouri state laws generally allow the open carrying of heavy weapons of the kind that his group were brandishing.
The Southern Poverty Law Center, a nonprofit civil rights organization, has described the "Oath Keepers" as a "fiercely anti-government, militaristic group," and St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar condemned their appearance in Ferguson. Chief Belmar also condemned the group in paragraph three, in case you missed it.
"Their presence was both unnecessary and inflammatory," he said, adding that police would work with county prosecutors to see if the men had broken any laws.

Only agitators shipped into Ferguson by leftist groups are welcome. Armed, Law and Order conservatives must go home and be silent.

The Oath Keepers were evidently successful. Nothing in the news about any 'Infowars' whacko's being bullied, kidnapped, or shot. Perhaps a mechanized rifle company of Oath Keepers is needed.

At some point the media hate will turn them into targets for angry yuts. Nobody but the insurance companies wants them there, they should let Ferguson burn according to plan.

When frighteningly normal folks' weapons
Are sniffed at by newshounds, what happens?
Why don't those of bangers
Or Panthers or "singers"
Provoke military-style fappings?

Really? There doesn't seem to be much governmental control in Ferguson over the rabble and thug elements. Install martial law and shoot violators of curfew on sight. Shut it down as tight as a drum; otherwise STFU. This has gone on way too long.

She and her co-workers received a bonus of between $5 and $20 for every woman they personally convinced to donate to the clinic, depending on the value of that particular unborn baby. Once the woman agreed to have an abortion and signed the paperwork, clinic staff would bring up a "research opportunity." Only a matter of time until it is revealed that the donor mothers themselves were also compensated.
[REUTERS] A man and a woman were killed and a third injured in a knife attack at an IKEA store in the Swedish city of Vasteras on Monday and two suspects were arrested, police said.
One of the suspects was apprehended at the scene and the second, who was seriously injured, was picked up at a hospital a few hours later, commanding police officer Per Agren said at a press conference. How he was injured was not clear.
The suspects were two men born in 1992 and 1979 who probably knew each other, Agren said. They had no connection with the victims and the motive for the attack was not known, he said.
Officers were called to the store at 1 p.m. (0700 ET) and found three people with knife injuries, police spokesman Per Stromback told reporters outside the IKEA outlet about an hour west of the capital, Stockholm.
The 35-year-old man had life-threatening injuries, Vasteras hospital head nurse Lena Moren told the public broadcaster SVT.
Vasteras newspaper VLT posted a video on its website it said was of police wrestling the suspect to the ground in a bus shelter.
The victims had been shopping at IKEA and were known to each other, police said.

Two Swedish men, an empty tent,
So down to Västerås they went
With Swedish wives in sacks in tow
To see how far their dole would go.
One Swedish man felt ill at ease,
Asked, "Are these halal, if you please?"
The cashier mumbled, "Huh? Halal?
Here is a number you can call."
"Not halal? Not halal?
IKEA meatballs are not halal?"
He told the shoppers near at hand
The pious dinner he had planned.
The Swedes were startled not at all
To hear him fulminate withal,
"Not halal! Not halal!
IKEA meatballs are not halal!"
The little man hopped up and down
And pulled a dagger from his gown.
He first -- for honor -- stuck his wife,
Then slashed at shoppers with his knife.
"Not halal! Not halal!
IKEA meatballs are not halal!"
One Swedish couple felt real sad --
Taboo meatballs was what they'd had --
And, dying, heard their butcher's call,
"Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar! Allahu akbar! Seventy-two virgins for one meatball!"
[NYTIMES] Gunfire began to ring out, the police said, as rival groups began shooting at each other. The St. Louis County Police said that Trevion Hopson, a 17-year-old, was arrested after firing on a protest crowd on West Florissant Avenue, the center of the protests, around midnight. The police said that Mr. Hopson was being held and a 22-year-old man was found injured with a gunshot wound to his arm. If Obama had a son he'd look like Trevion.

It just gets better and better.
Barvetta Singletary may have more problems than unpaid leave from her job. Earlier today, NBC’s Washington affiliate reported that Singletary, a White House aide since last year who spent the previous 15 years working for Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC), got charged with domestic violence after an incident and arrest on Friday. She may end up facing assault with a deadly weapon after taking her boyfriend’s gun and firing at least one round in his direction:

The heck with the story. Let the Donks in Washington shoot each other. As for others, they might check out the pulchritude of Michelle V. at the following site. More Michelle Viscusi and Team Glock.
Late Sunday a man fired multiple shots at four St. Louis County plainclothes detectives in an SUV. The detectives fired back and the shooter was struck, said county Police Chief Jon Belmar. The shooter was in critical condition.
Tyrone Harris identified the victim as his son, Tyrone Harris Jr., 18, of St. Louis. Harris said shortly after 3 a.m. that his son had just gotten out of surgery.
He said his son graduated from Normandy High School and that he and Michael Brown Jr. "were real close."
County Police Chief Belmar said two groups of people exchanged gunfire on the west side of West Florissant Avenue at the same time the police-involved shooting took place, shortly after 11 p.m. Shots were heard for 40-50 seconds, Belmar said.
At 2:15 a.m., two teenagers were shot in a drive-by shooting near the Michael Brown Jr. memorial on Canfield Drive. The victims, ages 17 and 19, were hospitalized and expected to survive. The gunman was riding in a passenger car and opened fire on them, police say.
Three St. Louis County police officers were injured Sunday night or early Monday while working in Ferguson, authorities said. Two were pepper-sprayed by protesters while a third was hit in the face by a rock thrown at him. That officer was taken to a hospital for treatment.
I wanted to file this under a terror organization, but "Domestic Feral Yoof" wasn't one of the choices.

We need to bring back military service as an option to prison. They don't have to be front-line troops (better if they are not actually). They would learn skills, responsibility, and discipline which would go far towards fixing a dysfunctional culture.
While a small minority of the political-class public has vocally argued with the majority of politically correct scientists and progressive pundits scientists about the causes for existence of climate change, melting polar ice, and rising sea levels, tidal recordings in the Chesapeake Bay have quietly shown a sea level rise double that of the global average for the last 60 years. Known as the relative sea-level rise, the increases currently measure 3.4 mm/yr versus the global average of 1.7 mm/yr. Researchers have now established why the region is seeing the fastest increases in sea level along the United States's East Coast: the entire Chesapeake Bay region is sinking. Fred! Get outta there! Move to higher ground!
While this might sound like the next generation of Hollywood blockbusters-the film industry having exhausted asteroids, volcanoes, tsunamis, and earthquakes-the reason the region is sinking is yet another global change that is related to melting ice sheets. But not the ice sheets that are supposedly melting today, but the ones that melted over 10,000 years ago. It's complicated, but suggests maybe other ocean levels rising are not as simplistic as Al Gore thinks

Given what we've seen of the "precision" of temp. measurements, I have a real skeptical/cynical view of measurements of of 3.4mm / yr change in land levels.

A nifty chart at the end of the linked article, which is what caught my eye Sunday. Also an interactive pro-con debate, at the end, where the UN is cited on both sides of the argument! Champ is quoted as saying 14 of the hottest 15 years in history have come in in the first 15 years of this century. I wonder what planet he was on?
Those making the claim weren't around in the old days, so they can't possibly be expected to believe the old "data".
Last Monday, President Barack Obama took his biggest step yet in establishing an environmental legacy that could make his two terms in office the most consequential for the environment - and for the U.S. energy industry - in four decades. Remaking America, in Bill Ayres image.
But unlike the 1970s, when President Richard Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency and President Jimmy Carter the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, Obama has pushed his agenda with little support, or even the involvement, of Congress. He's done so almost entirely through authority granted to the EPA by an all-but-unanimous Congress decades ago and upheld in most respects by subsequent Supreme Court decisions. There you have it. Carter and Nixon in the same sentence! But Champ is unlike either one.
Matched against his aggressive agenda has been equally furious push-back by Republicans in Congress. Leading the fight has been San Antonio U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, a Southern Methodist University-trained lawyer and Yale graduate who has used his perch atop the House Science committee to wage war with the EPA like few others have.
"The Environmental Protection Agency has released some of the most expensive and expansive regulations in its history," Smith said at July 9 hearing featuring EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. "These rules will cost billions of dollars, burden American families and diminish the competitiveness of American industry around the world." Yeah, so what's yer point, Congressman?
Nearly every Texas Republican has been outspoken against the EPA and any effort to curb the energy industry. But it has been Smith, in his role as committee chairman, who has spent the most time railing against what he called the "climate change religion" in a Wall Street Journal op-ed earlier this year. Another Rantburg reader discovered! "The president says there is no debate," he said in a hearing in May 2014. "Actually, the debate has only just begun. When assessing climate change, we need to make sure that findings are driven by science, not an alarmist, partisan agenda." Nobody says Einstein' theories are 'settled science', even though scientists have been testing them for a century.
For U.S. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Dallas, that opposition to the climate change consensus amounts to a dereliction of duty by Smith and the Republican leader who appointed him chairman. Johnson, the top Democrat on the panel, says Congress seems intent on ignoring climate change. And asteroid impacts. Don't forget those concerns!
The voters don't care about climate change. A clever politician would take note of that.
"It's impossible, frankly, for a sensible, scientific, educated person to go along with the direction he's carrying this committee," said Johnson in spring. "My relationship with him is good. I've just never had anybody who's so anti-science." Depends on what your definition of 'science' is.
"While the Obama administration pretends to know and care exactly how much human actions contribute to the changing climate, the truth is there are more questions than there are answers," Smith said. "Facts should guide our nation's policies, not climate change alarmists or science fiction."
The Clean Power Plan, he said, would simply do too little to help stave off climate change to justify the costs it will impose on businesses and consumers of energy. "If implemented, [it] would reduce global temperatures by only 0.01, or one one-hundredth of a degree Celsius. ... As a result of the rule, energy costs for Texans could increase by up to 20 percent in 2020. That is the definition of all pain, no gain."
I just read that the real thing we need to fear is the explosion of the supervolcano under Yosemite national park -- if that's the one with all the hot springs. So our next panic already waits in the wings, complete with a Natural Geographic or some such special on the subject from a few years ago.

what is going on?? Why is it when an unarmed black man is shot there are riots and *black lives matter* placards.
When an unarmed white man is shot - nothing.
Why arent the people protesting regardless of race against police shootings?
Seems racist to me - black lives matter to black people but white lives dont?
If there is no possibility of black and white living peacefully together or if black people feel resentful of white racism (which does exist)
then maybe all the black people should move to louisiana. they can have their own state. the whites should move out. Then they will be happy? cant blame racism if there are no whites there
There hasn't been legal slavery for 150 years, but that hasn't stopped them from bitchn'. Of course whites were slaves as nearer to 70 years ago, but who cares? How do you sell people guilt for something they're not responsible for but have the resources to fund 'Free Stuff'. It's legal to get politicians to do the stealing for you.
[CA.REUTERS] For the boldest frontier market investor: North Korea is looking to raise $39 million from foreign investors to fund a new brewery in Wonsan, an eastern port city where leader Kim Pudge Jong-un ...the overweight, pouty-looking hereditary potentate of North Korea. Pudge appears to believe in his own divinity, but has yet to produce any loaves and fishes, so his subjects remain malnourished... has big development ambitions.
The isolated country recently announced more than 100 separate projects seeking foreign investment in the Wonsan-Kumgang Development Zone, a mountainous region where leader Kim keeps palaces and a summer residence.
"They're looking at this as a new East Asian business and tourism hub," said Michael Spavor, an independent consultant who is helping a Wonsan investment committee seek more than $150 million in foreign funds, including for the brewery. If you're doing that then you haven't been paying attention.
"It's a nice area, it's on the coast, ... convenient for a quick getaway on a fast boat at night...
and it has the same qualities and infrastructure that once made places like Shenzhen and Hong Kong such attractive investment zones," said Spavor, who will lead a delegation of investors to Pyongyang next month to discuss the brewery and other projects. Except it doesn't have Deng Xiao Ping. Instead it's got a lunatic kid running things.
North Korea is home to over 20 special economic and development zones which use a grey market exchange rate to value the local currency and contain separate economic laws, even allowing foreign entities to sue the state in the event of a break of contract.

[Defense News] MANAUS, Brazil -- Chinese military officials have requested the Brazilian Army's assistance in developing their own jungle warfare training capabilities, officials here said.
Briefing reporters in July, Col. Alcimar Marques de AraĂşjo Martins, commander of the Centro de Instrucao de Guerra na Selva (CIGS -- Jungle Warfare Training Center,) indicated that China had recently arranged to send a group of officers and NCOs to be trained at the CIGS, but they canceled their attendance in favor of an alternative approach.
"They have now asked us to provide a number of trainers and our jungle warfare training expertise to assist them in developing their own program in China," he said. There was no indication as to the immediacy of such cooperation or the number of trainers likely to be sent.
While it is not clear why the Chinese are expanding their jungle training operations, the country does have long, jungle-covered borders with several neighbors.
[ALMANAR.LB] Greece and its creditors were to continue talks Monday after marathon discussions late into the night, with both sides indicating that the terms of a third bailout were close to being finalized.
The finance and economy ministers, Euclid Tsakalotos and Giorgos Stathakis, were back at the negotiating table with the ECB, the International Monetary Fund and the European Stability Mechanism at 2:00 pm (1100 GMT) Sunday and were still talking eight hours later.
They are finalizing the draft of a crucial new bailout of up to 86 billion Euros ($94 billion) in exchange for further reforms before the debt-ridden country must repay 3.4 billion Euros to the European Central Bank on August 20.
Talks were going well and could be wrapped up on Tuesday, an EU source told AFP, adding that discussions had narrowed down the list of priority actions that Athens must commit to.
"We need to have an agreement here on Tuesday and all the parties are working towards it," the source added.
A speedy accord would allow the bailout to kick in before the August 20 debt repayment deadline.
Stathakis said ahead of Saturday's negotiations that the talks were "in the final stretch".
On Sunday, pro-government newspaper Avgi said: "All signs are pointing to an agreement".
It added that parliament could vote on the accord this week, or that eurozone finance ministers could approve it first on Friday, after which parliament would vote on it on August 18.
Germany's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported Sunday that the Greek government would likely approve a 27-page draft memorandum of reform commitments this weekend to allow the new bailout to go through before August 20.

Next Greece will try promiscuity as the route to regaining it's virginity.
[Hurriyet Daily News] A controversial prosecutor who led probes into alleged coup attempts will be put on trial for attempting to overthrow the Turkish government with the corruption investigations of 2013.
The Bakirköy Chief Prosecutor's Office issued an arrest warrant on former prosecutors Zekeriya Öz, Celal Kara and Mehmet Yuzgec, accusing them of attempting to overthrow the government forcefully and forming a criminal organization.
Öz was dismissed as the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor on May 12 this year after being rotated to a minor judiciary position, following his launch of the country's biggest corruption investigation on Dec. 17, 2013, in which government figures and their relatives, as well as several prominent businessmen, were implicated.
The Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK), The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... 's top judicial body, had fired all three prosecutors on May 12, as well as prosecutor Muammer Akkas and judge Suleyman Karacöl, who also took part in the corruption investigation.
Öz had previously been slammed for what critics decribed as human rights ...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you... violations during the trials about alleged coup plots, particularly the Ergenekon case.

[DAWN] There was no confession in the serial child abuse case in Kasur's Husain Khanwala village but the principal accused gave a strange twist to the happenings by saying that he used to be present when the crimes were committed and filmed in a classroom of the academy where he and those captured in the clips studied.
Media reports suggested that the accused had confessed to their crime, but Kasur's DPO Rai Baber Saeed told Dawn that no confession had been made. He said police were investigating the matter and would submit a report to the court.
Also read :Kasur child abuse scandal: Shahbaz orders judicial probe
The only development he reported was the arrest of another accused, Usman. Six others, including the principal accused, Haseem Amir, were incarcerated Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! on Thursday.
The DPO said there were nearly 15 accused in the seven FIRs registered. Police are conducting raids to arrest another two accused while the remaining were on bail.
This news hound met the accused in Kasur's Police Station B Division where they are being kept instead of the Ganda Singhwal Police Station for security reasons. Six of them are in their early 20s and the seventh, Abdul Mannan, says he is 14 years old.
They all said they were innocent. The principal accused, Haseem, 25, said he was innocent because none of the films seized by police showed him indulging in any abuse. When asked whether he used to film the child abuse, he said he would sit in the classroom where his classmates would commit the crime.
He claimed that he and others had been implicated in the case because some people wanted to grab 16.50 acres of land his family had purchased.
Others did not come up with any such reason. Ali Majid said the one Mubin who had raised the issue allegedly to grab the land had abused him and wanted his father to stop cultivating fodder there.
The villagers, victims and their relatives who said they had kept quiet because of fear and shame were now openly talking about what they called the brazen deeds of the accused. There was no more fear of the accused or shame as they were readily giving details of the events.
There were no police in the village, but plainclothesmen were there to keep an eye on the mood of the villagers.
The fear was no more there because of one Mubin Ghaznavi, reportedly a former Jamaat-e-Islami ...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores... worker who continued to urge the victims and their families to stick to their allegations. Two lawyers -- Latif Sohra from Lahore and Chaudhry Munir -- were also seen in the village and were reportedly supporting the victims.
Some people, including Lambardar Saifullah, alleged that the JI man and the two lawyers were after the 16.50 acres of irrigated land which the family of the principal accused known as Karmoo group had purchased. But they could not satisfy many as to how one could ask people to say that they had been sodomised for settling the score.

[DAWN] Parents at the centre of a growing child abuse scandal in the country accused police on Monday of failing to do enough to break up a paedophile ring in Punjab.

Rubina Bibi says her 13-year-old son was a victim, but when she tried to file a report at the Ganda Singh Wala cop shoppe a month and a half ago, "the cop shoppe clerk told me to get lost and I was thrown out."
"My son ... is in the videos, he is a victim," she said. "Our children were forced into this. They were humiliated. But the police are treating them like criminals."
Another mother, Shakila Bibi, added: "I went to the cop shoppe to file a complaint, but instead of registering a (report), they took my son into custody." Her 15-year-old son is still in jail, she said.
If an inquiry found inadequate police work or complicity, the scandal could engulf the provincial government, headed by the prime minister's brother.
District Police Officer Rai Babar said the force would act decisively. "I assure you that we are taking this very seriously and there will be a fair and very transparent investigation," he told Reuters.
On Sunday, Sharif said in a statement: "The Prime Minister ... has expressed extreme sadness ... the culprits will be given the harshest possible punishment."
Villagers say hundreds of children were affected, although they were unable to give names of particular families.
Police have arrested seven suspects, but downplayed the scale of the abuse, suggesting a land dispute may have sparked accusations. "It's a very murky situation," said Babar. He added that seven cases involving 11 children had been registered.
Activist Mobeen Ghaznavi says many children were abused and that he had 130 video clips containing abuse. "People are afraid. They are being threatened and intimidated," he said.
Suraiya Bibi said that when she complained to police, her family was threatened by the abusers.
"One day some women in the village showed me these videos. My son was in them. My world collapsed," she said. "Kids were being intimidated in these videos with weapons, they were drugged. Kids as young as five years old were made to perform oral sex."
In one clip seen by Reuters, a boy cowers and cries before putting his hands over the camera lens. In another, a groggy boy is beaten and abused as a man tells him, "I will not stop until you smile."
Three 15-year-old boys told Reuters they were abused for several years.
Two said they were threatened with weapons that included knife, an axe and a gun. "He threatened me if I did not compromise, he would kill me on the spot," one said.
One 18-year-old told Reuters he had been abused since he was 10. He stole cash and jewellery from his family after his abusers blackmailed him, he said. "I was going to school one day when these boys picked me up and beat me up badly. Then they drugged me, and when I woke up, they showed me these videos they had made of me," he said.
"They told me that they would bury me alive if I told anyone ... I thought about killing myself every single day."
