[Breitbart] A migrant was released from jail in the sanctuary city of Chicago, Illinois, after allegedly mugging an 80-year-old woman, a new report details.
According to CWB Chicago, 47-year-old migrant Elio Redondo Ragas of Venezuela was arrested and charged with robbing an elderly woman in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago on August 2.
Police allege that Ragas was riding a bike early in the morning when he sought out the woman who was only a block from her home. The woman told police Ragas ran up to her, snatched her purse, grabbed the hat off her head, and then took off on the bike.
Two good samaritans, a 42-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, watched the alleged robbery occur and ran after Ragas. Eventually, the two men got hold of Ragas and held him down until police officers arrived. Ragas was arrested and subsequently charged.
Prosecutors, though, did not request Ragas to be held in jail and, thanks to Chicago’s sanctuary city policy, it is unlikely officers can turn him over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman thus released Ragas from jail even though he had previously failed to appear in court in a case from October last year.
In that case, Ragas is accused of breaking into an elderly man’s home and stealing beer and food from his fridge. He failed to appear in court and prosecutors dropped the case against him.

An appeals court on Friday overturned the conviction and life sentence of a man found guilty of killing a U.S. Border Patrol agent whose death exposed the botched federal gun operation known as “Fast and Furious” has been overturned, a U.S. appeals court said Friday.
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the convictions of Heraclio Osorio-Arellanes, saying his constitutional due process rights had been violated, and sent the case back to the U.S. District Court in Arizona for further proceedings.

Didn't have time to sit and listen to the whole thing, the guy should write a book and I might read it.
But I'm all too willing to believe that Nixon didn't do anything that was any worse than some of our more recent presidents (cough, cough, baraq) have done. For that matter, he was a breath of fresh air after Lyndon Johnson who, IMHO, is rivaled only by Franklin Roosevelt for that coveted worst president ever spot.
C'mon, people, forget Carter. He might have been evil but he was too soft headed to do anywhere near as much harm as Roosevelt or Johnson.
Of course the media hated Nixon, just like they do Trump. They hated Reagan too but he wore too much teflon for any of it to stick. It's amazing how much influence the media has over the minds of otherwise intelligent people. If you're ever in doubt, just cast your ballot for the guy the media hates.

I read “Silent Coup”, 1992 book by Len Colodny and Robert Gettlin., The prevailing narrative is that Nixon and his high-ranking associates covered up a 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters in the Watergate Complex …] Colodny and Gettlin contend that former White House counsel John Dean orchestrated the 1972 Watergate burglary. His motive was argued to have been to protect his future wife Maureen Biner by removing information linking her to a call-girl ring that worked for the DNC.
The interview with Tucker provided the stone-cold proof of the assertion, as Shepard confirms that the anteroom to Larry O’Briens office had the only phone on a small desk that was NOT linked through the DNC switchboard. The assertion was that the photo album in the desk was a visual menu of the prostitutes the DNC had on call for major donors or players, and John Deans future wife, Mo, was among the attractions.
Shepard confirmed in the Tucker interview that one of the Cuban burglars had a key to that desk as well as the phone number to that specific phone. During the arrest he attempted to swallow the key to hide it.
Shepard makes it clear that Dean orchestrated the whole thing, guided the cover-up from his position as White House Counsel, and when confronted, flipped on everybody, and escaped any actual incarceration.

[BBC] A California man who attacked police officers with a flag pole and other weapons during the US Capitol riot has been jailed for 20 years.
Prosecutors said David Dempsey, 37, was one of the most violent members of the crowd during the attack on 6 January, 2021.
They said he used "his hands, feet, flag poles, crutches, pepper spray, broken pieces of furniture", among other things, to injure at least two officers.
Overexcited or malice aforethought? And if premeditated, was he pro-Trump or an anti-Trump undercover agent?
"Your conduct on 6 January was exceptionally egregious," US District Judge Royce Lamberth told Dempsey, the Associated Press reported.
As an American, the judge likely said January 6th. How often do the vaunted BBC journalists make such simple errors?
"You did not get carried away in the moment."
Dempsey pleaded guilty to assaulting police officers.
More than one thousand people have been arrested for crimes related to the Capitol riot, while hundreds have been convicted.
Only Enrique Tarrio, the former leader of the far-right Proud Boys group, has received a longer sentence than Dempsey.
Tarrio was found guilty of seditious conspiracy for orchestrating the attack, and jailed for 22 years.
Officials said Dempsey, a former fast-food and construction worker, had a history of arrests and convictions, including for burglary and and drug dealing.
The court heard that Dempsey wore a bullet-proof vest and a gaiter that covered much of his face during the riot.
He climbed over other rioters on the steps of the Capitol to repeatedly attack police, striking an officer's helmet and cracking his face shield, prosecutors said.
"David Dempsey is political violence personified," a prosecutor said before Dempsey was sentenced.
Dempsey expressed a "profound sense of regret" for his actions, according to US media.

World War I destroyed the willingness of British subjects to fight European wars. Then, World War II destroyed the commonwealth and beggard the UK. It could hardly pay cash for goods when Roosevelt introduced Lend-Lease in 1941. By war's end the UK was broke, and it never really has recovered.
Today, that Police coward Rowley thinks he can threaten anyone abroad (while kowtowing to the Muslims at home) is not only laughable but pathetic.

[Townhall] Since he was selected as Vice President Kamala Harris' running mate earlier this week, there has been considerable chatter about the headache that Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) has caused. Among the latest causes for concern is a report from Friday detailing how Walz hosted an imam who celebrated the October 7 attacks against Israel and promoted a pro-Hitler website.
As Gabe Kaminsky of the Washington Examiner reported about Walz and Imam Asad Zaman of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota:
Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, on at least five occasions as governor of Minnesota, hosted a Muslim cleric who celebrated Hamas's Oct. 7 attack last year on Israel and promoted a film popular among Neo-Nazis that glorifies Adolf Hitler, the Washington Examiner found.
The imam, Asad Zaman of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, joined other Muslim leaders in May 2023 for a meeting about mosque security with Walz's gubernatorial office in Minnesota. Zaman also spoke at a May 2020 event to call for peaceful protests with the governor during the riots in Minnesota sparked after George Floyd's death. In April 2019, the cleric delivered an invocation before Walz's state address -- just months after Zaman called for an end to a government shutdown at a press conference with Walz in January 2019.
Zaman, moreover, attended a May 2019 event that Walz hosted for Ramadan, social media posts show.
Walz's ties to Zaman could serve as problematic baggage for the Minnesota governor as he campaigns with Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee. News of the ties also comes after a Washington Free Beacon report this week found Walz spoke at a 2019 event with an antisemitic scholar who has defended terrorism against Israel.

The Muslim American Society was once described by federal prosecutors as being founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States, court records show. The MAS, which the United Arab Emirates designated as a terrorist group in 2014, came under fire in 2019 after a video surfaced online of children at an event held by its Philadelphia chapter calling for the murder of Jews.

Walz's office and Minnesota's Muslim American Society did not reply to requests for comment.

I've talked to my team. I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month, she said when asked when she would sit down for her first interview since entering the presidential race.
Harris failed to give one unscripted presser since joining the presidential race 18 days ago. A longtime Harris ally told Politico's West Wing Playbook on Wednesday that she may continue to avoid the press until Labor Day, 25 days away.
