[AlAhram] Egypt's Supreme State Security Prosecution ordered on Monday the detention of eight Moslem Brüderbund members for 15 days pending investigations.
The eight defendants were extradited from Kuwait two weeks ago, and are charged with joining a banned terrorist organization that works to undermine state institutions.
The Moslem Brüderbund was officially designated as a terrorist organization in Egypt in December 2013.

[AlAhram] The Cairo Court for Urgent Matters has designated on Saturday the holy warrior group "Hasm", which grabbed credit for a number of deadly attacks on security forces as well as liquidation attempts on public figures over the past year, as a terrorist group.
The little-known group claimed the liquidation attempt on the deputy prosecutor general in September 2016 as well as the liquidation attempt on leading Islamic holy man Ali Gomaa in August of the same year.
In December 2016, Hasm also grabbed credit for a deadly explosion at a police checkpoint in the Haram district in Giza, which killed 6 coppers and left 4 injured.
In mid-January, the High State Security Prosecution referred 304 people to military trials for alleged membership in Hasm.
Last week, Cairo Court for Urgent Matters also designated a group calling itself the "Popular Resistance" a terrorist organization. The group, which was formed in 2014, first gained widespread attention in June 2015 when it grabbed credit for the murder of the country's chief prosecutor, Hisham Barakat, in Cairo.
Since 2013, the Egyptian government has linked most of the holy warrior groups in the country which announced responsibility for attacks on security forces to the banned Moslem Brüderbund organization.
The government declared the Moslem Brüderbund a terrorist organization in December 2013 as the government blamed the group for a number of deadly attacks on security forces in the aftermath of the ouster of Islamist former president Mohammed Morsi in July of that year.

[Libya Observer] The head of the High Council of State (HCS), Khalid al-Mishri said that the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame bears the consequences of the repeated bombardment of Mitiga Airport, because of what he said "the deliberate fallacies" in his recent briefing to the UN Security Council.
In a press statement, al-Mishri said that the inaccuracies in Salame's briefing before the Security Council interpret as a green light for continuing bombing the civil and only airport that links the region with the outside world, putting the lives of thousands of passengers at risk.
In his briefing to the UNSC last week, Salame claimed that Mitiga Airport is being used for "military purposes", which has been taken as an excuse by warlord Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. [Jpost] Muhammed Desai, the director of one the world’s leading Boycott, Divest and Sanctions organizations, has found his group embroiled in a new Paleostinian terrorism scandal after BDS South Africa last week tweeted a picture of Desai shaking hands with member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine.
The US and the EU have both classified the PFLP a terrorist entity.
At the same time, The Jerusalem Post learned on Monday that BDS South Africa’s PayPal account is now not accepting donations. It is unclear if the online payment service PayPal closed the account due to BDS South Africa’s support and financing of a terrorist organization.

A subsidiary of Naim Ateek's and a fund raiser and instigator against Israel, in SA. Muhammed Desai worked with and operated a wing of Sabeel, a supposedly 'christian' ecumenical group founded by Naim Ateek, partnered and promoted by the Presbyterian Church (USA). It's activities included luring youth with promise of christian fraternity and teaching, only to shift midway into discussions of 'all Abrahamic Faiths' and the commonalities of the three eschatons. They have some madarsas and recruitment drives in India too, two of which were flagged as 'divisive' last year. Sabeel is a key player in Israel-delegitimization activism.
[AlAhram] A Nigerian judge ruled on Monday that the detained leader of a banned Nigerian Shia Moslem group could seek medical treatment abroad, after a series of protests calling for his release turned violent last month. Abroad = in Iran?
Nigeria banned the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) in July after a week of protests in which the group said at least 20 of its members were killed in police crackdowns. Police gave no corpse count.
The group's leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky, has been held since 2015 when government forces killed around 350 people in a storming of its compound and a nearby mosque. He has not been released despite a court order to that effect, and the IMN said his detention is illegal.
The judge in a court in the northwestern city of Kaduna granted Zakzaky and his wife leave to seek medical treatment in India under supervision of state officials.
India? Mr. Wife spent an interesting few weeks in a hospital in Bhopal after contracting amoebic dysentery. His local colleagues took wonderful care of him, and phoned me every day to lie about his condition until he really was able to be sent home. Not someplace to be hospitalized without local friends, though, as far as I can tell.
Zakzaky's lawyers have said that while in detention, Zakzaky lost an eye to advanced glaucoma and risks losing the other, while shrapnel lodged in his body since the 2015 storming of the IMN compound was causing lead poisoning.
The government says IMN incites violence, and a court has given the authorities permission to label it a terrorist organization. IMN denies it is violent, and says Zakzaky should be released in line with a December 2016 court order.
IMN is the largest Shia organization in a country where around half of the population is Moslem, overwhelmingly Sunni.

[ARABNEWS] Britannia said on Monday it was joining a US-led maritime security mission in the Gulf to protect merchant vessels traveling through the Strait of Hormuz.
Last month, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards seized a British tanker, Stena Impero, near the Strait of Hormuz for alleged marine violations after Britannia seized an Iranian oil tanker near Gibraltar, accusing it of violating sanctions on Syria.
"We look forward to working alongside the US and others to find an international solution to the problems in the Strait of Hormuz," Defense Minister Ben Wallace told news hounds.

[DW] Germany's federal police force has said 71 of its officers were maimed last year while carrying out deportations, according to a media report. The injuries, for the most part, were not severe.
Germany's federal police have said that "of the 284 officers attacked during repatriations, 71 were maimed" in 2018, according to a report Sunday in the Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
The figures only pertain to incidents related to deportation flights, for which the federal police are responsible. Germany's state-level police handle transportation to the airport for people slated to be deported.
There were 274 recorded instances of officers being attacked in 2017.
USUALLY NOT SEVERE
Ernst Walter, union leader for the federal police, told the Welt am Sonntag that officers endured "kicks, hits and head-butts during deportations." He added that the injuries were usually not severe, because the officers were specially trained to deal with such situations. Time for hickory shampoo applications, wash, rinse, repeat
The exact "type or severity of the injury" was not recorded.
Decline in deportations
According to Federal Interior Ministry figures for last year, 23,617 rejected asylum-seekers were deported in 2018, less than the two years prior.
Roughly 31,000 deportations in that same period failed for various reasons, often because of missing travel documents. A total of 1,637 deportations had to be called off due to "acts of resistance" at airports.

[FOXNEWS] Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick explicitly warned the left-wing group Antifa ...the armed wing of the Democratic Party... against coming to the state following Saturday's mass shooting at an El Paso Walmart.
The shooting came 29 days before a scheduled visit from Antifa, which planned to conduct a "Border Resistance" militancy training tour.
"Stay out of El Paso," Patrick told Antifa during an appearance Fox News. He noted that while the group wasn't usually welcome in Texas, they especially weren't welcome after the shooting.
"Stay out of Texas, basically," Patrick said. "We don't need them coming in on Sept. 1. We didn't need them coming in before this happened."
A flyer for the event posted on Twitter by conservative journalist Andy Ngo showed people shooting arrows at a tower near what appeared to be a border fence. The group issued a "Call to Action" for 10 days in El Paso. Antifa is known for violent protests and attacks on police and journalists, including Ngo.
Patrick also expressed confidence that Texas would rally together and stay strong after the shooting. "We're never going to give up to the shooters, never going to give up to the lawbreakers," he said.
[Daily Excelsior] In a bold decision aimed at tackling head-on the vexed 72-year old Kashmire problem, Narendra Modi Government today re-wrote history of Jammu and Kashmire by ending its special status which the State enjoyed in the form of Articles 370 and 35-A and proposed re-organization of Jammu and Kashmire by bifurcating the State into two Union Territories-one the J&K with Legislature like New Delhi and Puducherry and another Ladakh without Legislature like five other UTs in the country.
After hectic day-long debate, the Rajya Sabha late this evening approved the Resolution proposing revocation of Article 370 and a Bill to split the State into two Union Territories.
President Ram Nath Kovind this morning issued a notification titled `The Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmire) Order, 2019′ scrapping Article 370, which had been applied to Jammu and Kashmire in 1949 as a temporary provision. The abrogation of Article 370 automatically rendered Article 35-A null and void, which had been incorporated by a Presidential order in 1954.

[ARABNEWS] United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... Secretary-General António Guterres ...Portuguese politician and diplomat, ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations. Previously, he was the UN High Commissioner for Refugees between 2005 and 2015. He was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1995 to 2002 and was the Secretary-General of the Socialist Party from 1992 to 2002. He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years... urged India and Pakistain to exercise restraint, his front man said on Monday, after India revoked the special status of Kashmire, the Himalayan region that has long been a flashpoint in ties with neighboring Pakistain.
"We urge all parties to exercise restraint," UN front man Stephane Dujarric told news hounds, adding that UN peacekeepers observing a cease-fire between India and Pakistain in the state of Jammu and Kashmire "has observed and reported an increase in military activity along the line of control."
In the most far-reaching political move in one of the world’s most militarised regions in nearly seven decades, India said it would scrap a constitutional provision that allows the state of Jammu and Kashmire to make its own laws.
"The entire constitution will be applicable to Jammu and Kashmire," Interior Minister Amit Shah told parliament, as opposition politicians voiced loud protests against the repeal.
Foreign ministry officials later briefed envoys of several countries on the changes to the state’s administrative status, saying they were aimed at promoting good governance, social justice and economic development.
The government also lifted a ban on property purchases by non-residents, opening the way for Indians to invest and settle there, just as they can elsewhere in India. The measure is likely to provoke a backlash in the region.
Pakistain, which also claims Kashmire, said it strongly condemned the decision, which is bound to further strain ties between the nuclear-armed rivals.
Pakistain Prime Minister Imran Khan ... aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree... said the move "was in clear violation of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions" in the region, according to a statement released after a telephone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad on Monday evening.
"As the party to this international dispute, Pakistain will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps," its foreign ministry said in a statement.
India and Pakistain have fought two of their three wars over Kashmire, where a nearly 30-year armed revolt has killed tens of thousands of people. Hundreds of thousands of Indian troops have been deployed to quell it.
India blames that rebellion on Pakistain, which denies the accusation, saying that it backs the right to self-determination for Kashmire.
[DAWN] An accountability court in Lahore on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Salman Shahbaz in a money laundering and assets beyond means case.
Judge Amir Mohammad Khan ordered police to arrest Salman, a son of PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif ...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab... , and produce him before the court by August 10.
The arrest warrants were issued on an appeal of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
NAB Chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal had issued arrest warrants for the suspect on April 3.
In June, an alleged frontman of Salman and his brother, Leader of the Opposition in Punjab 1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots.... Assembly Hamza Shahbaz, had confessed to have laundered over Rs600 million for the two brothers.
Mushtaq Cheeni, a wholesale dealer for Ramzan Sugar Mills, in his confessional statement recorded by a judicial magistrate under Section 164 of the CrPC had claimed that Hamza and Salman used to receive foreign remittances through bank accounts of his company, Mushtaq and Co.
In this case, Hamza is already in NAB's custody, while Salman is out of the country. The accountability watchdog had alleged that Hamza maintained various accounts in different banks in which credit turnover of Rs500 million was observed between 2006 and 2017.
It also claimed that Hamza received fictitious foreign remittances of Rs181 million in one of his bank accounts and Rs2.11 billion in the accounts of his brother Salman, mother Nusrat, benamidars and employees of their companies.
[DAWN] Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider on Monday said that by repealing the special status granted to Indian-Indian Kashmiree (IoK), New Delhi has lost its control over the territory in its entirety.
Earlier today, India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stripped Kashmiris of the special autonomy they had for seven decades through a rushed presidential order. An indefinite curfew was imposed in IoK and elected leaders were put under house arrest.
By repealing Article 370 of the constitution, people from the rest of India will now have the right to acquire property in IoK and settle there permanently. Kashmiris as well as critics of India’s Hindu nationalist-led government see the move as an attempt to dilute the demographics of Moslem-majority Kashmire with Hindu settlers.
In a presser held in Islamabad today, Haider said that New Delhi had always maintained that it had provided special status to IoK under Article 370 of India's constitution. "They [India] have lost their own stance through this move," he said, adding that a session of the AJK assembly had been summoned to discuss the situation.
"India has formally lost Kashmire today. We were never a part of India but today it has lost Ladakh, Jammu and the valley as well," he declared.
Kashmiris in IoK are "fighting for their lives", the AJK premier said, adding that he feared India "would commit a genocide" in the region.
[DAWN] Pakistain on Monday said that it would "exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps" taken by India regarding Indian-Indian Kashmiree (IoK).
The comments came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government introduced plans to weaken the special rights of residents in occupied Kashmire, amid heavy deployment of security forces and suspension of phone and internet services in the valley.
In a blurb, the Foreign Office (FO) strongly condemned and rejected the move by the Indian government, stressing that IoK was internationally recognised as a disputed territory.
"No unilateral step by the Government of India can change this disputed status, as enshrined in the United Nations ...an idea whose time has gone... Security Council (UNSC) resolutions," read the statement. "The decision will never be acceptable to the people of IoK and Pakistain."
"As the party to this international dispute, Pakistain will exercise all possible options to counter the illegal steps," the statement read while reaffirming Pakistain's commitment to the Kashmiri cause.

They would do well to remember that an uncouth, volatile entity like the Taliban is a friend to no one, and seasonally available for rent to the highest bidder. And India has money to burn.
If India ever went extra-legal, we could make it so, that the prospects for the military-politician nexus in Pak become untenable for current leaders and wannabes. We could seriously screw things up. But we don't. A centuries old cultural connection between our largely unwitting populations, and the Hindu hubris of being a 'force for good and peace' have always prevented India from playing dirty.
In fact, India has been the most anal-retentive stickler for legality and convention in the international context. But Pakistain has a tendency to bring out the worst in people around it.
[DAWN] The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Sunday expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in India-held Kashmire, including the reports of deployment of additional paramilitary forces there.
"The General Secretariat is saddened to learn about the civilian casualties resulting from ceasefire violations carried out by Indian forces across the Line of Control [LoC] and expresses solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmire," the OIC said in a statement.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani also brought the attention of the international community’s to the fresh spate of Indian aggression by writing to speakers and presiding officers of all parliaments of the world. Mr Sanjrani wrote to the speakers and presiding officers and telephoned some of them, seeking their support to resolve the Kashmire dispute in accordance with the United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... resolutions.
He also apprised the speakers of the use of cluster ammunition by the Indian armed forces in held Kashmire and their indiscriminate firing across the LoC on civilian settlements. "World’s people representative parliaments should pressurise India to stop state terrorism ... any action taken by a non-Moslem state that constrains the violent impulses of Moslems or their allies ... in Kashmire," the senate chairman said in his letter, adding that the international community should play its role in bringing India on the table for a dialogue on the issue.

Sort of like staying in Germany, the EU (long after they achieved First World economic status)?
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) ‐ An Iraqi provincial council denied on Monday media reports about talks with the American troops stationed in Anbar province.
"The local government in Anbar is not authorized to hold any meetings with the U.S. troops stationed in the country," Farhan Mohammed el-Duleimi, member of Anbar Provincial Council, told the privately-owned Al Ahd news website, stressing that the central government in Baghdad "has the exclusive right to do so under a previous agreement with the American troops."
"The presence of American troops in the country is a sovereign decision and the local government (of Anbar) cannot take any decision on that score," Duleimi added.
He went on to say that the provincial council of Anbar has "no any information about the number of American troops stationed at the Ain Assad Air Base in western Anbar and the Royal Air Force Station Habbaniya in eastern Ramadi."

Hamas-affiliated newspaper al-Resalah said the committee decided not to hold the weekly rallies "to ease the situation for citizens and allow them the opportunity to prepare for the blessed holiday," which begins on Sunday.
"Raising the Nazi flag next to the flag of Paleostine at the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. We should block such an act, even if it is done by one person and does not represent the common sense of the Paleostinian people," Dr. Basem Naim, head of Hamas’s Council on International Relations, said in a statement.
He said the use of the Nazi symbol at the protest last Friday was being "exploited by the Israeli occupation to distort our struggle for freedom and independence."
His statement was not released on the official website in Arabic.
The use of the swastika was also condemned by PLO official Saeb Erekat ...negotiated the Oslo Accords with Israel. He has been chief Paleostinian negotiator since 1995. Erdogan stated that he has informed his Russian and U.S. counterparts about the military operation, which he said would specifically target areas controlled by the YPG and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
"We entered Afrin, Jarabulus, and al-Bab [in northern Syria], and now we’re going to enter east of the Euphrates," Recep Tayyip Erdogan told an inauguration ceremony in Bursa.
"We shared this [information] with the U.S. and Russia," he added.
Erdogan and his administration have often referenced the PKK in Syria, despite the fact that the organization controls no territory inside the country.

He went on to say that the destroyer has been equipped with advanced radar systems that allow it to reach distant targets.
"The destroyer has been equipped with new weapons and we are seeking to equip the Damavand destroyer with vertical launch missiles," Rear Admiral Khanzadi noted.
The Damavand destroyer crashed into a jetty on January 10, 2018, killing two sailors of the Iranian Navy. The accident occurred when Damavand was docking at port in Iran’s northern province of Gilan.

The Caspian Sea has a lot of mineral and oil production possibilities. Russia and Azerbaijan also border the Caspian. So, there is some reason for Iran to have a Naval presence there.
Also, Russia's ships in the Caspian have been used to launch missiles at targets in Syria so Iran may want to do the same.
Of course, it helps if the ships you use don't sink.
