[Tolo News] The Taliban's newly appointed leader, Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour, has denied that any peace talks have taken place between his group and the Afghan government, despite reports last month that he was involved in the widely covered negotiations outside Islamabad.
The denial of peace talks comes after reports circulated last week that the new Taliban leader, who was promoted after news of the death of the group's former leader Mullah Omar ... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality... broke, is unpopular among many of the insurgency's leaders. As a whole, the grinding of the peace processor launched with the help of Pakistain and China last month, as well as the death of Mullah Omar, have exposed immense division within the Taliban's ranks.
"The movement will continue until the Islamic system rules," Mansour said at an allegiance ceremony this week. "This rumor among the enemies that a grinding of the peace processor is going on, it is the enemies' propaganda."
Mansour's move to deny the peace talks, which were in fact well-documented by Afghan and Pak officials, could potentially be an attempt to shore up his support among members of the group who have been reticent about the negotiations.
Recently, Syed Tayyab Agha, the head of the Taliban's political office in Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... , resigned from his post. Although it is unclear exactly why he resigned, it is rumored that it was because of his opposition to Mansour's leadership.
"The division that is taking place among the Taliban and its aftermath will be clarified later," political analyst Nazar Mohammad Mutmain told TOLOnews on Tuesday.
Some former Taliban leaders say that a number of key commanders have refused to pledge allegiance to Mansour, who was Mullah Omar's deputy for the past decade.
"Akhtar Mansour does not have the dignity [that Omar had] and he does have his popularity," said Mawlawi Qalamuddin, the former Taliban minister of vice and virtue.
Qalamuddin says the infighting and mysterious deaths of Taliban leaders suggest the movement is losing steam and sight of its objectives. "The mysterious killings of Mullah Mohammad Omar and Mullah Obaidullah and other Taliban high ranking members show that the war has no more justification," he said.
News of Omar's was confirmed last Wednesday. Although the Taliban has maintained he passed recently, the Afghan government and other independent sources have maintained he died in 2013 at a hospital in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... .
Insider sources have said that most Taliban capos were unaware of Omar's death, and that it was kept from them in an attempt to avoid deflating morale.

If, as the article claims, the announcement of Omar's death would have damaged Taleban morale, why didn't the CIA, which ostensibly knew about the death three years ago, announce it?
[Tolo News] At least eight Taliban Death Eaters have been killed in an ongoing operation by Afghan cops in eastern Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. province, security officials said on Tuesday.
In addition, five other Death Eaters were maimed.
The operation launched four days ago in Hesarak, Sherzad and Khoghyani districts - which borders Pakistain -- said Noman Atifi, a front man for the Selab 201 Military Corps in eastern Afghanistan.
"So far 14 villages have also been cleared of Death Eaters in Khoghyani and Serzad districts of the province," he said.
"The operation is for a month and was launched under the name of Musalas-e-Ahaneen to clear the Death Eaters," said Atifi.
Sherzad and Hesarak are the most insecure districts in the province. Taliban Death Eaters often target local security forces and threaten babus government employees, said officials.

[ABC.NET.AU] The head of the Taliban's Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates... -based political office has stepped down in a move highlighting growing discord over the group's recent power transition.
Mullah Akhtar Mansour was announced as the new Taliban chief on Friday after the turbans confirmed the death of Mullah Omar ... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality... , who led the bad boy movement for some 20 years.
But splits immediately emerged between Mansour and rivals challenging his appointment, exposing the Taliban's biggest leadership crisis in recent years and one that raises the risk of a factional split.
Underscoring the deepening internal divisions, Tayeb Agha stepped down on Monday as head of the Taliban's political office, set up in Qatar in 2013 to facilitate peace talks.
"In order to live with a clear conscience and abide by the principles of Mullah Omar, I decided that my work as head of the political office has ended," Mr Agha said in the statement published on a website regularly used by the Doha office and confirmed by a Taliban source.
"I will not be involved in any kind of [Taliban] statements... and will not support any side in the current internal disputes within the Taliban."
Mr Agha added that consensus should have been sought from holy warrior strongholds inside Afghanistan over the new leader's appointment.
The Taliban source said Mansour's aides were trying to convince Mr Agha to withdraw his resignation but his statement adds to a growing chorus of dissent in the movement over the increasingly bitter political transition.
"The death of Mullah Omar was kept secret for two years," Mr Agha said.
"I consider this a historical mistake."
The Taliban have not given details of when and where Omar died but the Afghan government said it happened in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... in April 2013.
The Taliban continued to release official statements in the name of Omar, who had not been seen in public since the Taliban were toppled from power in 2001, as recently as last month.
Many turbans oppose what they see as Pakistain's attempt to force the Taliban into direct peace talks with the Afghan government.
Mansour and his two newly named deputies -- influential religious leader Haibatullah Akhundzada and Sirajuddin Haqqani -- are all seen as close to the Pak military establishment, which has historically nurtured and supported the Taliban.

[AlAhram] A policeman was killed on Tuesday after being shot in Sharqiya governorate by three unknown assailants who escaped on a cycle of violence, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.
This marks the 21st time in the last two years that security or military personnel have been killed by unknown attackers in the Nile Delta's Sharqiya governorate.
The policeman was on his way to work at Abo Hammad cop shoppe when he was shot in the chest and neck.
Twenty police and army personnel have been killed on their way to or from work in Sharqiya since the July 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi, according to Al-Ahram.
In October 2014, the 20th such incident occurred in Abu-Kabeer city in Sharqiya when a low ranking police officer was rubbed out by unknown assailants on his way home.
Sharqiya is located in the Nile Delta and is the third most populous governorate in Egypt. It is also the birthplace of former president Mohammed Morsi.
[UPI] Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee (NAK) said security forces killed eight Daesh militants Sunday, and six other Islamist militants on Monday. Both incidents occurred in the Northern Caucasus region.
In a statement, NAK said,"According to information available to the security services, the militants killed in [Sunday's] operation had recently pledged allegiance and became members of the Islamic State (IS), an international terrorist organization. All of them were complicit in a number of crimes of a terrorist nature, including the killings of law enforcement officers and the extortion of money from entrepreneurs."
Sunday's violence took place in the republic of Ingushetia, while Monday's incident took place in the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Reports say Adam Tagilov, accused by of organizing an assault last year in Grozny which claimed more than 20 militants and policemen, was among those killed in the special operations.

[AnNahar] Two soldiers were killed in southeastern The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... on Tuesday when a mine went kaboom! in the latest attack on security forces blamed on the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the army said.
Kurdish hard boyz detonated a remote-controlled mine as a military convoy passed by in the Arakoy region of Sirnak province bordering Iraq and Syria, it said.
The kaboom triggered festivities between Turkish soldiers and PKK rebels, it added.
Initial reports said the corpse count rose to three after one victim died in hospital but this was later denied by official sources.
The army said two soldiers had died and one soldier and one village guard was maimed in the attack by the "separatist terror organization", its customary phrase for the PKK.
The PKK, blacklisted as a terrorist group by Turkey and its Western allies, took up arms for self-rule in 1984 in an armed struggle which has claimed tens of thousands of lives.
The mine went kaboom! at around 8am during a routine check of the road linking Sirnak and the town of Balveren, the Hurriyet reported.
According to the state-run Anadolu news agency, the vehicle carrying the Turkish troops was then attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and gunfire in the vicinity of Arakoy village.
Anadolu added that Turkish security forces and air support were deployed to the area in order to apprehend the suspected PKK turbans.

According to Turkish newspaper Sabah, Aleppo in Syria is to become the 82nd province of Turkey under a deal between US terrorist sponsoring tyrant Obama and Turkey's ISIS supporting tyrant Erdogan.
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] The Pentagon says the military for the first time conducted armed drone missions out of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... last weekend, and is planning to conduct manned aircraft flights from Incirlik Air Base.
Capt. Jeff Davis says so far none of the drones launched Arclight airstrikes. He says the U.S. also will likely fly search and rescue missions from the base.
The use of the Incirlik base comes as the U.S. expanded its combat in Syria, launching Arclight airstrikes Friday to defend rebels under attack by the Nusra Front, Al-Qaeda's branch in Syria.
Davis says this is the first time the U.S. conducted defensive strikes against anyone other than ISIS murderous Moslems in Syria. Under current rules, the U.S. can conduct offensive strikes against ISIS, not Assad regime forces or others.

[DENVER CBS4] – An alert has been issued by the FBI to all law enforcement agencies in Colorado and Wyoming involving U.S. military families and concerns about who may be watching them.
The alert says Middle Eastern men are approaching families of U.S. military members at their homes in Colorado and Wyoming. It mentions Greeley and Cheyenne, Wyoming as the specific areas.
In one case last May the wife of a military member was approached in front of her home by two Middle Eastern males. The men stated that she was the wife of a U.S. interrogator. When she denied their claims the men laughed. The two men left the area in a dark-colored, four-door sedan with two other Middle Eastern males in the vehicle.
“The woman had observed the vehicle in the neighborhood on previous occasions,” the alert states. Similar incidents in Wyoming have been reported to the FBI throughout June 2015. Update to previous reporting.

A group of Syrian rebels battling President Bashar al-Assad's forces have been pictured using an Apple iPad device to ensure the firing angle of a rocket launcher is correct.
Militants loyal to the hardline Jaish al-Islam group were photographed using the tablet to test the firing position of crude howitzer artillery pieces during street battles in the capital Damascus.
It is believed that the rebels use maps and intelligence reports to locate the regime troops' positions, before employing the high-tech device to give a precision reading of the weapon's firing angle in the hope it will boost the accuracy of the missiles.

The U.S. officials, who spoke to Rooters on condition of anonymity to discuss the incident, said the Syrian rebel was believed to have been killed during fighting on Friday with suspected members of Nusra Front. One of the officials described the information as preliminary.
The Pentagon declined to comment, citing "operational security reasons."

[RFE/RL] A child militant who appeared in a video appearing to shoot an alleged Iraqi spy in the head has been killed in an air strike, Daesh social media accounts say. No great loss.
The boy, who appears to be in his early teens, was featured in a video titled "The Harvest Of The Spies" that was released in early May. He is shown loading a handgun and forcing a captive to kneel.
The youth then vows to take revenge on United States, Russia, and Europe before raising his gun and apparently shooting the captive several times in the head. However, the young militant does not appear in the same frame when the shots are fired, so it is unclear whether he actually killed the captive.
Reports that the boy had been killed began to appear on Russian and English pro-Daesh accounts on August 2.
The teen was identified as Abu Umar Caucas in some reports and as Abu Umar Daghestani in others. Another clue could link him with a group of North Caucasian militants fighting alongside Daesh. In the video, the child is wearing a black hat with the Thermoform logo clearly visible. Photographs of a number of North Caucasian Daesj militants, including the notorious Daesh commander Umar al-Shishani, wearing Thermoform hats have circulated on pro-Daesh social media accounts.
