[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Ukraine has obliterated a £275million submarine prized by Putin in a missile strike on Russian-occupied Crimea.
The kilo-class vessel, named Rostov-on-Don, was hit during a huge missile barrage, Ukrainian forces confirmed.
The submarine, used to fire calibre class missiles into Ukraine, had been repaired from previous damage after being targeted in September last year.
Dramatic pictures last year showed a huge hole blown into the sub during Ukrainian strikes last year.
It was due to return to service when it was sunk by Ukrainian forces in Sevastopol on Friday night.
Repair. Rinse. Repeat. At least they get to practice their skills…

[Regnum] Units of American F-16 fighters transferred to Kiev are already operating in the skies over Kharkiv, the Ukrainian publication Strana reported on August 3.
According to Kharkiv volunteer Yuriy Sapronov, the day before he heard an unusual sound three times and barely managed to notice a plane moving very quickly. He explained that he had learned to recognize the sounds of various weapons very well.
"I checked with the military. F-16!" the publication quotes the volunteer as saying.
On July 31, the British newspaper Telegraph reported that Ukrainian pilots had made their first flights on F-16 fighters. Earlier, Bloomberg reported on the arrival of fighters in Ukraine, without specifying the number of aircraft.
The Washington Post reported that only six Ukrainian pilots have been trained to fly the F-16. It was noted that this limits the number of possible daily sorties, and that the F-16 fighters will be threatened by Russian anti-aircraft missile systems located near the front line.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that the supply of F-16s to Ukraine will not change the course of the SVO. The head of state emphasized that the Russian army will destroy these aircraft, as well as all other military equipment supplied by the West.

I don't think any late model F16Cs are going to Ukraine
I know the Dutch and the Netherlands are giving F-16A/B Block 20 MLU (Mid-Life Update) variants which are just after the 1991 versions. They can definitely use the HARM, but the slammer used by the block 50+ so it is out of their reach.
Honestly I would be surprised if any are close to the front. Ukraine only has a dozen pilots now (by the end of the year they will have 25ish) and risking them and the planes is foolish. Better to use them as air defense for the airfields and factories in the west of Ukraine.

Better to use them as air defense for the airfields and factories in the west of Ukraine.
Yeah, that is what I would do if I were me. Near the front, they become vulnerable to Russian air defense systems + guy in treeline with MANPAD. They are going to need some air defense of their own too, juicy little targets on the ground that they are. So better keep them in the back.
Also, depending on the exact loadout, it looks like F-16 anti-air missiles are shorter range the Russian glide bombs. Corrections welcome.
[Breitbart] The U.S.-Russian deal that traded eight Russian criminals, spies, and assassins for hostages Evan Gershkovich, Paul Whelan, and others on Thursday was the first known prisoner exchange to include international cybercriminals.
Two of the eight Russians released on Thursday were world-class cybercriminals: Vladislav Klyushin and Roman Seleznev. Prosecutors said it was important for them to serve hard sentences as a message to other cybercriminals around the world, but now both are walking free.
Klyushin hacked into the databases of major American corporations and stole information that helped his criminal gang commit securities fraud on a massive scale. A federal court in Boston found that his scheme netted about $93 million in illicit profits. Klyushin personally walked away with over $34 million in his pockets, which the court ordered him to pay back.
