Three pieces of heavy equipment torched Sunday night in Iowa. The Dakota Access pipeline will cut diagonally across the state of Iowa, carrying North Dakota Bakken crude oil to a refinery in Illinois.
I can't copy/paste any of it. If you go to the link, you must take a survey to read. Answer the first question, "I didn't purchase any of those things last year".
Probably railroad supporters, or maybe Save-the-Planet types.

The British government cast doubt on the future of a controversial 18-billion pound project to build Britain's first nuclear power plant in more than 20 years, pledging to review the deal just hours after the board of France's state-run utility gave the go-ahead.
U.K. Business and Energy Secretary Clark said the government would carefully consider the project before deciding on it in "early autumn." Critics have said the plan represents poor value for money for consumers, who will pay France billions of pounds in subsidies to operate the plant for 35 years.
Britain's new prime minister was non-committal about the project; predecessor David Cameron had enthusiastically backed the project, arguing construction would create jobs and allow Britain to meet its carbon reduction goals. There's just something wrong about a French firm building a nuke in England so the Brits can get the carbon credits and make the EU happy. Maybe that was the way it was supposed to work.

The women who swam in a caftan
And bravely sunbathed on an afghan
Were suddenly giddy:
That gal from Sioux City
Had told them, "Just call me Ms. Pak-man."
[NEWS.VICE] Nicaragua's President Daniel Ortega, who has so far governed the country for two decades, has chosen his controversial wife as his running mate for the country's next elections in November.
Rosario Murillo is already the government's spokeswoman, and the announcement that the also avid promoter of new age spirituality is now set to become vice president brought widespread accusations that the couple is trying to perpetuate itself in power.
The president, who is currently the only candidate in the election, has insisted that putting his wife on the ticket is proof of his commitment to equal rights.
"There was a discussion about who should be the vice president so that we can continue the good government in this country," he told news hounds and adoring crowds on Tuesday. "It had to be a woman and who better than comrade Rosario Murillo, who has carried out her duties, working at all hours of the day with efficiency, discipline, and dedication."
Ortega first governed Nicaragua after he led the Sandinista guerrillas to victory over the dictator Anastasio Somoza in 1979, weathering a US-backed war against him for most of the next decade until he lost elections in 1990. The former guerrilla later staged a spectacular comeback and won two consecutive presidential elections in 2006 and 2011.
But in recent years Nicaraguans have probably seen more of Murillo than of her husband, whose days as a romantic cult figure of the international left are long over.
As government spokeswoman she delivers a daily round up of news typically framed with a mixture of references to spiritual harmony and the Sandinista Revolution.
"This revolution in which women have participated shoulder to shoulder with men," Murillo told news hounds after she was named as vice presidential candidate. "This revolution that has opened the door to the full participation of women in all spaces, whether political, social or economic."

The U.S. Air Force is sending bombers with thousands of hours of combat experience to Guam this week to bolster the U.S. military presence in the Asia-Pacific, the service says.
The B-1B Lancer bombers from the 34th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron dropped more than 2,000 "smart bombs" during more than 630 missions over Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan from January to July of 2015, officials at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam said. Those missions covered more than 7,000 hours of flight time.
"The B-1 units bring a unique perspective and years of repeated combat and operational experience from the Central Command theater to the Pacific," said a statement from Pacific Air Forces headquarters in Hawaii.
"With a large weapon capacity and exceptional standoff strike capability, the B-1 will provide U.S. Pacific Command and its regional allies and partners with a credible, strategic power projection platform," the statement said.
The B-1s, which are expected to arrive in Guam on Saturday, come to the region during a time of heightened tensions, mainly arising from territorial claims among China and other nations over islands in the South China Sea and missile tests from North Korea that on Wednesday saw one missile fall in waters that Japan considers part of its exclusive economic zone.

Something about moving the fleet from San Diego naval base to Oahu to 'send a message'.
A new law that allows people to carry concealed handguns into most buildings on public college campuses takes effect today in Texas, and students are planning to protest by bringing some equally inappropriate -- but much less lethal -- objects into their classrooms: dildos.
Supporters of the so-called "campus carry" law claim it gives students and faculty the ability to protect themselves against mass shootings. Texas has allowed registered gun owners to carry concealed firearms on college campuses since 1995, but this is the first time that weapons will be allowed inside school buildings.
Ryan Short, a spokesperson for he pro-gun organization Come and Take It Texas, said in a statement that "gun-free zones have been proven dangerous and an invitation for criminals to find defenseless victims."
Jessica Jin, the founder of "Cocks Not Glocks," a student group at the University of Texas at Austin, doesn't see it that way.
"The purported benefits of this law are not worth the potential for accidents, suicides, escalating ordinary conflicts to deadly levels, or the brain drain of teachers who are either resigning or withdrawing their applications to the university," she said.
Jin's group is organizing a demonstration called "Campus Dildo Carry" on August 24, the first day of fall semester classes at the state's flagship public university, that she says will involve students carrying "a few thousand non-phallic sex toys to accurately reflect the 'concealed carry' aspect of this law, [and] about 500 very dick-like toys too." And if you don't happen to have one, you can borrow one from Jin's collection.
Jin says the protesters will strap dildos to the outside of their backpacks and stroll into class "like nothing is different."
"It's to help people visualize how ridiculous it would look if everybody in our community were 'carrying' [a gun]," Jin said. "Hopefully the dildos will churn up the sense of shock and discomfort that people should feel about guns being everywhere." Great! You can be part of the solution next time you have a campus shooter. You can go in first as part of Dildo Force. If that doesn't work the people with the nasty handguns can give it a go.
Under the new Texas law, university presidents are able to designate certain gun-free buildings, but a university governing board can veto those rules with a two-thirds majority vote. The law also restricts guns in on-campus residence halls, but according to a report by the Austin American-Statesman, visiting family members of students and university staff members are permitted to carry handguns into dormitories while they are passing through. Guns are also allowed in dining halls, lounges, and study areas, where students spend much of their time. Private schools are exempt from the campus carry law.
The campus carry law takes effect 50 years to the day after a mass shooting by Charles Whitman, a former Marine and engineering student at UT Austin. Whitman massacred 13 students and wounded 30 more with sniper fire after climbing a tower on the school's campus in 1966. Whitman was eventually shot and killed by an Austin police officer.

This will be very interesting. Sort of a cultural fashion statement. If they have white ones with they be racist? Black ones for BLM? Oh, this would be a fun time to be on campus.

What are they going to do when they wear it and nobody gives a flying fu*k- all you get is a 'meh!'.

Doesn't matter what you think, it matters what they think, and if they think it is making you uncomfortable, it does not matter if you are or not, and then they thus embolden themselves.
And the sweet, sweet virtue signaling.
Brain drain and certain uncomfortable students - I think trigglyjin has stumbled upon a solution to the collectivists at universities.

So if it's big, he is compensating, if it's little he's pretending not to compensate, and whatever she's carrying... her poor boyfriend just isn't enough? Though why any of them would want to advertise that is beyond me.

It is both an age of sexual fetish and sexual discomfort.
The fetishes, here, are using humility and discretion as a weapon to peacefully bludgeon an idea with in this case passively and very little effort.
The discomforts, which is what I think happened to that reporter who went to a nude beach and was shocked that people looked at her, are tools of the fetishes who have bought into the slogans. I may say Bruce Jenner and be corrected with No, her name is now Caitlyn. The deal is not the name change; people change names and work under aliases all the time. This is a male, always will be no matter how many piercings and body augmentations or hormones pumped in which PETA would scream about if it were the cattle industry. And the more sincere, the more polite, the more the person has bought into this 2+2=5 the more insecurity one becomes in their general beliefs. Thus easier to influence and control.
[DAWN] PESHAWAR: The testing of environmental water sample positive for polio ...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set... virus in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire. has triggered investigations to find out the causes of presence of the virus in water that remained free of virus for two consecutive months, according to sources.
The water sample was tested negative twice in the months of May and June in Shaheen Moslem Town, but it tested positive in July. The health department wants to identify the causes of transportation of the virus and its carriers in the city.
The World Health Organisation has been collecting environmental samples from Shaheen Moslem Town, Larama and Dhando Pul areas from sewerage sites in Peshawar to see presence of poliovirus on monthly basis.
Sample from Shaheen Moslem Town tested negative last month after staying positive since November last year.
"The health department is upset and concerned over presence of poliovirus in the water," said sources. The samples from the two other areas have already been tested negative for poliovirus during the past one year.

Two consecutive months??? Wow then everything is fine right? No possibility that the sample was not sufficient?
[DAWN] Rabia Naseer, 22, of Batapur, was found dead in the washroom of the hotel on The Mall on July 29. The CCTV footage showed that the girl entered the lobby attending a phone call and went to the washroom, where she was found dead after some time.
A senior police investigator told Dawn that the girl had did away with himself when a man refused to marry her. He said according to mobile data recovered from the girl’s phone, she made the last call to the man before killing herself.
The officer said the man, who is a government official, was contacted and he later approached police and recorded his statement. He said the man told police that Rabia had called him to the hotel but he refused to come after which she had taken the extreme step of committing suicide.
The police officer said they were also investigating from where the girl purchased the pistol and bullets.

it all depends on what your definition of combat is...the new generation of weapons wizards in the USAF are back at the old tenets of dog fighting with missiles at 100 miles and close air support from 20000 feet with smart bombs and smarter airplanes...unfortunately, the F-35 is dumb as a stump and the video game version of war will get hundreds of pilots killed.
The Russians put GUNS on all of their nifty fighters, almost heretical in Washington

SPOD the f-35A carries a 25 mm GAU/22A which is kept in the air frame until needed.
The F-35b and f-35c carry pod mounted guns as necessary. Contrast to the F-22 with a wing root 20mm of 400 round.
Now As far As I can tell this the last gun kill by the USAF

USAF A-10A vs. IRAF Mi-8 Edit
An A-10A ground attack aircraft shoots down an Iraqi Mi-8 helicopter with its GAU-8 30mm cannon.[2]
An A-10 shot down a helicopter.
Now if you want to reopen The SkyRaider assembly line just say so, many guns, lotta booms, long loiter time, albeit a sitting duck, and it is even more primitive than the A-10! And to make it even sweeter they are known MIG Killers. Ever see what 4 20 mm guns can do? Hell yes! A no brainer, dump the F-35s except those several hundred that are being bought by allies and offer them cheaper Skyraiders.. Foo.
