[The Federalist] Many of us were disturbed by the murder of University of Mississippi undergraduate Ally Kostial last week. By all accounts, she was such a deeply kind and beautiful person. What could have possibly been the motivation to kill someone who radiated such powerful goodness?
This week, based on exclusive reporting from The Daily Mail, we learned the answer: Ally was pregnant with the child of the accused killer, a fellow undergraduate at Mississippi. He reportedly pressured her to have an abortion. She refused. So it appears he killed her and their prenatal child, in a reprehensible double murder.
For those who have qualms about using this term to describe his alleged action, recall the famous case in which Scott Peterson was charged with double murder by the state of California when he killed his wife Laci and their prenatal child Connor‐who, horrifically, was found to have plastic around his neck and a slash to his body. Indeed, Scott Peterson sits on death row today only because the state of California rightly understands Connor to be a second murder victim.
Despite the high-profile nature of such cases, our culture is still not fully aware of the danger in which pregnant women find themselves‐particularly in a patriarchal throwaway culture in which abortion is an expected means of permitting people to live their lives without the "burden" (or, as President Obama once put it, "punishment") of a child.
Indeed, the double murder that killed Ally and her prenatal child is tragically typical example of how abortion rights have so grossly affected our culture‐although you can be forgiven for not realizing this, given how poorly abortion is covered by most major media organizations.
(CNN Business) Have you ever noticed the popularity of white robots?
You see them in films like Will Smith's "I, Robot" and Eve from "Wall-E." Real-life examples include Honda's Asimo, UBTECH's Walker, Boston Dynamics' Atlas, and even NASA's Valkyrie robot. All made of shiny white material. And some real-life humanoid robots are modeled after white celebrities, such as Audrey Hepburn and Scarlett Johansson.
The reason for these shades of technological white may be racism, according to new research.
"Robots And Racism," a study conducted by the Human Interface Technology Laboratory in New Zealand (HIT Lab NZ) and published by the country's University of Canterbury, suggests people perceive physically human-like robots to have a race and therefore apply racial stereotypes to white and black robots.
These colors have been found to trigger social cues that determine how humans react to and behave toward other people and also, apparently, robots.
"The bias against black robots is a result of bias against African-Americans," lead researcher Christoph Bartneck explained to The Next Web. He told CNN, "It is amazing to see how people who had no prior interaction with robots show racial bias towards them."
The researchers think this is an issue that needs to be addressed. "If robots are supposed to function as teachers, friends, or carers, for instance, then it will be a serious problem if all of these roles are only ever occupied by robots that are racialized as White," according to the study.

Have we finally jumped the shark wit these constant cries of 'racism', or is there some new ridiculous connection yet to be made between the color white and dark, evil 'racist' forces?

it might also be the fact that the raw plastic pellets are cheaper than colors, and keeping color consistency between batches costs money: so it boils down to asimple business decision.

I just realized my refrigerator is white. I denounce both my implicit racism and the institutionalized racism of the Kenmore corporation.
No disrespect to NZ or the Uni of Canterbury, but may y'all should just go back to bothering sheep and leave the rest of us alone. Wait, sheep are white, too! Oh Noes!

Um... have these geniuses considered that robots resemble home appliances, and that shiny large home appliances have traditionally been colored white?
That the whole product category is called White Goods for that reason?

IIRC, the word ROBOT comes from the Czech word robota, meaning forced labor - i.e., slave! So we are seeing white slaves.

"Robots And Racism," a study conducted by the Human Interface Technology Laboratory
It's a rather blatant way to slack off on readily-agreed-to research grants. You have to wonder if it's because of the nincompoops scamming their way into universities. Interface technology research should focus more on enabling disabled or challenged users... or anything but politically correct color schemes for the plastic covers of machines.
You know why the film didn't have ne...afric... Wakandan terminators ? Because Skynet discovered fair skin continued to inspire more trust.

Some of these remarks are funny. Others are true.
But his 1981 remark about unemployed fellow Britons during the worst postwar recession to that time was more than clueless.
Coming from a lifelong freeloader bankrolled by the people of Britain, his let 'em eat cake remark did a lot to turn his nation from respecting the monarchy to questioning whether it ought to be allowed to exist any longer.
He should have been bitch-slapped for that remark. By a couple of Welsh coal miners.
#4
I wouldn't call him a freeloader. From what I understand he served in the Royal Navy during WWII and was reluctant to leave it when he married Elizabeth.

[Epoch Times] The proposal to implement a pharmaceutical drug import plan by the Trump administration is being met with opposition by drug makers and researchers who call the plan a dangerous scheme.
But Marc-André Gagnon, a pharmaceutical policy researcher at Carleton University in Ontario, Canada, and Master of Advanced Studies in Economics, said he doesn’t buy into all the negativity.
"There’s a bit of a fear-mongering campaign in Canada that this type of proposal will be a catastrophe, people will die, the pharmacy shelves will be empty," said Gagnon. "So it’s all about drug shortages in Canada." OR it's a move that will more evenly spread the costs past the American consumers. Why should foreigners receive discounts while the citizens of the country that created the drugs pay more? "Because they can"
The proposed program would allow states, pharmacies, and drug distributors to develop pilot programs to import drugs from other countries, primarily Canada.
Yes R&D can run into the billions however you can carry forward losses to protect future profits on successful drugs
The point is that GAAP says R&D is a sunk cost and should not be used to determine the costs of the drug. If you spent 200 million in R&D on drug x in 2013, it has been deducted or recouped in tax deductions so that it should not be used as a cost when the drug goes to market in 2019.
R&D is annualized and deducted every year not cumulatively

Thank you, Sock Puppet of Doom. The issue, as I am now seeing it from our slow motion discussion, is the difference of approach between accounting and return on investment. What think you of this:
[Hot Air] So embarrassing. And doubly embarrassing is the fact that every righty in the country would have taken a rhetorical flamethrower to Obama if he had pulled this swampy garbage.
Skipping down a few paras to the potential connection:
Robert O’Brien gamely tried to defend his presence at the trial to reporters who asked why a hostage negotiator was involved in a non-hostage non-negotiation situation: "I also help free people that are held by governments, so unjustly detained Americans." But that’s just it. There’s no evidence that Rocky has been unjustly detained, whatever Kanye might think about the situation. And there’s no reason to believe that he will, or should, go free if he’s convicted.
Rapper A$AP Rocky is on his way back to the United States after being released from jail in Sweden, US President Donald Trump said on Friday.

A Swedish judge ordered the performer, producer and model, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, to be released from custody until a verdict in his assault trial is announced on Aug. 14.

Exit quotation from Drezner: “President Trump has always prioritized celebrity over the national interest. This episode merely gilds the lily.”
Maybe he prioritized the activity over a golf game, or watching the (D) debates.
But Mrs. Bobby would agree with Drezner.

Watch the video of the entire incident. A US citizen was relentlessly harassed by Muslims, until he reacted, and was jailed by the Islamofascist Swedes.
He was jailed for a month with no bail.
Trump was right and Sweden is a no-go state.

Have the MAGA people getting attacked received any backup beyond "monitoring"?
This looks suspiciously like the standard issue basic bitch Republican "ignore the base to expand the base" strategy that we could have gotten from ¡Yeb!.

Eurines don't like Americans, though they do have vast expectations of what we can do for them. Whether this individual was in the right or not, like a hockey fight, it's usually the response, not the provocation, that draws the penalty. Not saying it's fair, but in a lot of places anyone at the US embassy would have advised avoiding such a situation.

Too bad Trump isn't doing anything for supporters being harassed in the streets right here in America.
But then, those Americans aren't celebrity pals of celebrity pals(Kanye) of Trump's.
Swedes don't have to worry about American rappers rioting in their country but their "immigrant population" is another matter.

Yes, and then get arrested and thrown in jail for self-defense.
[Breitbart] Thursday during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s "Hannity," conservative talker Rush Limbaugh pointed to all the signs suggesting a lack of confidence in the 2020 Democratic presidential field.
Limbaugh said the most telling sign was that some are calling on former first lady Michelle Obama to enter the contest.
"You know it’s bad when Rahm Emanuel has to go on TV today and criticize these people for being nuts with this agenda," he said. "I mean, Gloria Borger on CNN after the debate, ’Where was the inspiration?’ There isn’t any inspiration. People need to understand how the Democrats see America. This is the thing that just boggles my mind. They look out over this landscape. They see nothing but suffering. They don’t see anybody other than in pain, victims of this, victims of that. Then they position themselves as the people who are going to fix it and get even with the other people ‐ us ‐ who have caused all of this misery. And there isn’t anything they talk about that involves improving life. They talk about jobs, not careers. They do not offer anybody anything uplifting, and they haven’t created a group of voters that even thinks uplifting. Their voter group is mired in all kinds of misery, injustice to the point they’re covering up George Washington in murals in San Francisco, rather than cleaning the human feces off the streets out there."

Of course. They're products of a marxist education with anti-establishment acid running through their veins. Just a rant, but bear with me. I'm proof that if people as far as India can see it, it's pretty obvious who's the good guys.
Like communists back in the 60s, they are standing in the middle of a booming economy, witness to evolving tech and medicine, watching the world run 'just fine, thank you.'
Suddenly they find their whole disposition challenged by reality.
They rush to alter it. They can't create victims fast enough.
They bring up the racist past vehemently. Current prospects for all people and modernity itself compels people to forget bygones.
They use the media and hollywood to report that everything is NOT fine, revolution is in order ! The juxtaposing of a heroin fueled technicolor unreality with their revisionist dogma leads to further disillusionment in the public and their entire ethos becomes a dead horse. Netflix sells, but instead of normalizing their narrative, it ends up overdoing and pastelizing it, and the current generation goes "Ho Hum..."
I see them standing up there, trying to shout, yodel, screech different versions of the same marxist tale of "Wolf ! Wolf !" - a cacophony of lies and desperate yarns. Punctuated with second-rate humor and playing to several galleries of despicable pressure groups.
As leaders, they were selfish poseurs, as administrators/reps they were robbers. Cheap impressions of human beings, they all deserve to be winnowed from politics altogether.

Just look at 'Medicare For All' and I'd love to ask Comrade Bernie an obvious question: "So, you're going to replace one failed national healthcare program (Obamacare) with... another one?'
Like the great push to Communism itself, they constantly double down on failure. This time, it'll be different!

I said quite a while ago that I expect the "yeti" to be brought in to save the situation. But that's the same creature who admits to never having been proud of America until Zero was elected.
I can't imagine she's proud now, so what uplifting could we expect from her? More of the same "You're all racists and miserable, vote for me!!" doesn't seem to be a winning message.

The question is, if you are one fo the corrupt but sane members of the Democrat party and you know you will lose (Presidents always win re-election since Bush Sr flopped for not being Reagan) what do you do?
Try to use these fools to fill the DNC coffers?
Try to get them to go so far left they are out of the way next election?
Try to use as much DNC money in the House and Senate races instead of the Presidential?

Remember George Zimmerman who suddenly became a (quote) White Latino (un-quote) instead of a normal Person of Color™? How are they going to push Slavery Reparations that will be paid by successful Latinos (or at least will end up be paid from money that could go to them)?
The policy of balkanizing the body politic tends to have nasty results. Just look at what a mess the Ottomans left wherever they ruled.
[Jpost] Russia’s S-400 sale to Ankara ‐ and the US response ‐ should worry Jerusalem.
There are a few important lessons for Israel, the Middle East and the West to draw from the supply of the Russian-made S-400 anti-aircraft batteries delivered to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... in July. One is that Turkey can’t be trusted as a Western ally. The second is that the US president’s foreign policy, if he has any at all, is crumbling. World leaders don’t take Donald Trump

The Turkish government made a choice. The American vice is slowly squeezing. The decision already cost the Turks a $1.5 billion helo export order and $10 billion in F-35 production. Maybe Israel has a better solution but is too shy to tell us.

BOSTON (AP) ‐ They came bearing oversized images of the sons and daughters they lost to drug overdoses and signs demanding justice from the pharmaceutical company they hold most responsible.
The parents and their supporters rallied outside a Boston courthouse Friday as a judge heard arguments in Massachusetts’ lawsuit against Purdue Pharma, the maker of OxyContin, over its role in the national opioid epidemic.
"Unless you’ve lost a child, you don’t know what that pain is like," said Kathleen Scarpone, a New Hampshire resident whose 25-year-old son died of an overdose in 2015, just a few years after serving as a Marine in Afghanistan. "You wake up every day and your heart breaks a little. I don’t want anyone to ever feel that."
Scarpone was among more than 100 people gathered in front of Suffolk County Superior Court through the daylong hearing. The group laid poster boards filled with photos of hundreds of Massachusetts overdose victims on the courthouse steps.
Some held signs saying, "Sack the Sacklers," referring to the wealthy family that owns Purdue Pharma and whose name is emblazoned across major institutions such as the Smithsonian, Guggenheim and Harvard from years of philanthropy.

The product was willfully - not accidentally - misused. Same issue as with gun liability. The manufacturer in no way facilitated or encouraged the misuse. Automobiles, liquor, makeup and even money itself are just as easy to misuse, yet no one calls for the manufacturer of those things to be held liable for what the mis-user does.

Pharma knowingly manufactures 100s of times the statistical requirement for these opioids
They don’t care as long as doctors write prescriptions and someone pays for it they don’t care
And they pay doctors kickbacks for the number of prescriptions they write
#6
Not to let Purdue off the hook, but the DEA should have been on top of the over production and over prescription as well, especially when the bodies of OD victims started stacking up. Gotta wonder why so many doctors over prescribed unless they thought they could get away with it.
