[SHABELLENEWS] Somalia’s central semi-autonomous region of Galmudug ...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth... state has accused its rival Ahlu Sunna group of starting the ongoing fighting in Herale area, north of Galgaduud.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Shabelle, Galgaduud governor Mohammed Ali Elmi said the battle began after militia fighters belonging to Ahlu Sunna attacked the village.
Elmi has refuted the reports of inter-clan fighting in Herale by local media, saying the conflict was between Ahlu Sunna and residents, and called for and end to the festivities.
"We call on both warring sides to stop the bloodshed, and solve the differences through peaceful dialogue, to avert a recurrent fight in Herale," said Galgaduud governor.
The moderate Islamist group Ahlu Sunna is yet to comment of the accusation.
Local elders are trying to a mediate the two sides, and bring an end to the fighting, which claimed the lives of more than 10 people, including unarmed civilians.

[Libya Observer] A source from the High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) said they are preparing to leave the eastern region toward Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... after being attacked last Tuesday in al-Bayda by a group from Blood Owners gang that is affiliated to Khalifa Haftar ... served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... The source added that the threat that were sent to the delegation were very serious, adding that no official authority contacted the delegates, thus obliging them to return to Tripoli.
Days ago, the HCNR announced that there were some efforts exerted to enable a national reconciliation project, saying it was going to visit Derna for the second time in next August in order to push for the project.
Meanwhile, ...back at the Council of Boskone, Kinnison began his slow infiltration of the sewer system... Derna Shura Council denounced the attack on the HCNR delegation in its al-Bayda headquarters while they were in a meeting with Interim Government and House of Representatives' officials.
"We blame the criminal militias, who are trying to destroy the country, for the assault and we call for justice regarding that attack." The Derna Shura Council said, thanking the neighboring districts of Derna for their efforts for reconciliation.
A group from Awliya al-Dam (Blood Owners) gang stormed into the delegation of the HCNR in a hotel in al-Bayda and gave the delegates a beating, threatening them of murder if they continued to advocate national reconciliation.

[Ynet] Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi has inaugurated a military base in the country's northwest to protect facilities and projects in coastal cities.
Saturday's inauguration, aired by state TV, was held with senior Arab officials present. It comes ahead of the 65th anniversary of the July 23 military coup which ended the monarchy.
The base is named after late President Mohammed Naguib, an Egyptian army officer who became the country's first president. Located in the Marsa Matrouh governorate west of Alexandria, Egypt says the base is the largest in the Middle East.
Egypt's army announced earlier that it established another base, called Barrani, close to the porous western border with Libya to prevent the infiltration of krazed killers. Authorities vie with Islamic Death Eaters and smugglers who use it to enter the country.
Filed under P.2: WoT Background because in Egypt the sentence is only an intermediate step, with guaranteed review up to the Supreme Court followed by review by the mufti, Egypt's official interpreter of Islamic law, whose opinion is legally required but not binding. After all that, the final sentence is announced and executed... although sometimes some miscreants are subsequently pardoned during Ramadan or another time when mercy is particularly meritorious.
[AlAhram] South Cairo Criminal Court sentenced Saturday 28 to death for the 2015 liquidation of the country's top prosecutor, Hisham Barakat.
The court also sentenced 15 others to life in prison and sentenced eight individuals to 15 years in prison.
According to Egypt’s penal code, a life in prison is twenty-five years.
In June, the court initially sentenced 31 to death for Barakat’s liquidation and referred the decision to the country’s top holy man for his non-binding consultative opinion, as per the country’s penal code.
The verdict can still be appealed in front of the appeals court.
In June 2015, Barakat was killed in a Cairo kaboom that struck his convoy in the upscale eastern Cairo district of Heliopolis.
Sixty-seven people were charged in connection with the liquidation, with the general prosecution accusing defendants ‐ who it says are members of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund group ‐ of conspiring with members of Gazoo’s Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, to kill the top prosecutor.
A holy warrior group calling itself the "Popular Resistance" grabbed credit for the bombing. A court in February 2017 designated the group a terrorist organization.

[AlAhram] The Fatwa Committee of al-Azhar’s Islamic Research Academy has opened a number of kiosks in one of Cairo’s main underground metro stations to allow commuters to seek guidance on Islamic issues.
The kiosks, which opened on Wednesday on a trial basis, are located within Shohada metro station and are open from 9am to 8pm daily.
Commuters are invited to bring their questions on religious issues to the Azhar holy mans manning the booth, who will then provide them with the necessary answers.
The initiative aims to "counter the turban ideologies and misguided fatwas provided by turban groups," said Mohi El-Din Afifi, the secretary-general of the academy, in press statements.
The project is the result of a protocol signed by the Egypt Metro Company and the Islamic Research Academy.
In a related initiative, al-Azhar began broadcasting content on the metro’s radio station in May, which was also the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
[BREITBART] Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has made an impassioned defence of European values and identity at the Bálványos Summer University camp in Romania Saturday, calling on European nations to end their association with billionaire open-borders financier George Soros ...the secretive Hungarian born Ernst Stavro Blofeld-like billionaire who seems to fund every horrible progressive organization you can think of... Speaking at the 28th Bálványos Open University camp Saturday, which was this week was hailed as "one of the most important discussion forums of the Hungarian community" by Hungary’s deputy Prime Minister, Orban contributed to an apparently new tradition of the Hungarian PM using the event as a launch pad for pro-European rhetoric and policy.
Hitting out at the Hungarian-born billionaire George Soros, who stands accused by the Hungarian government of using his vast wealth to fund pro-mass migration organizations to create a "new, mixed, Moslemized Europe", Orban said Brussels was in an "alliance against the people’s will" with the financier.
Laying out his vision for a future Europe without the influence of Soros, Orban said: ""In order for Europe to be able to live, it has to win back its illusory sovereignty from the Soros Empire... Once this is done, migrants colonists must be taken back outside the EU. It sounds strict, but those who came illegally, must be transported back," Prime Minister Orbán said. "We have to admit that the European continent cannot remain unprotected."
Discussing immigration to Hungary in a speech that came just days after his government announced the total requests submitted for Hungarian citizenships had hit one million, Orban said he would continue to oppose migrants colonists "who could change the country’s cultural identity".

[Jpost] The European Court of Human Rights has declared that the hate speech of one Belgian Moslem man is not protected under free speech laws.
Europe's top human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... court ruled on Thursday (July 20) that online videos considered by a Belgian court to be Islamist hate speech were not protected under free speech provisions.
Fouad Belkacem is a Belgian national currently imprisoned for his activities as the head of Sharia4Belgium ...the Antwerp-based Salafist organization that had campaigned to introduce Sharia law to Belgium before single-handedly making Belgium the highest per capita supplier of jihadis to Syria in Europe. There was a big trial in Antwerp in 2015, but most of those convicted were in absentia. Its spokesman, Fouad Belkacem, was sentenced to 12 years in prison... , an organization banned for recruiting imported muscle to participate in bad boy activities in the Middle East.
The European Court of Human Rights evaluated Belkacem's argument that his remarks in a series of videos on online platform YouTube fell within his freedoms of expression and religion and were not meant to incite violence.
In the videos, Belkacem had called on viewers to "overpower non-Moslems, teach them a lesson and fight them", content the Court called "markedly hateful" and "vehement". He had also called for the violent establishment of Sharia law.
The ECHR upheld the 2013 decision of Belgium's top court, which found that, far from simply expressing his views, Belkacem had incited others to discriminate on the basis of faith and to violence against non-Moslems.

Well, there is the Roman method - kill every tenth, and the Mongol method - leave every tenth alive.
[Al Jazeera] Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, Indonesia's president, has instructed police to shoot suspected drug pushers to combat what he considers a narcotics emergency facing the country.
His remarks have drawn comparison to that of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who launched a controversial anti-drug crackdown about a year ago that saw many alleged drug pushers killed in an operation widely condemned by the international community.
"Be firm, especially to foreign drug pushers who enter the country and resist arrest. Shoot them because we indeed are in a narcotics emergency position now," Widodo said in a speech at an event held by one of Indonesia's political parties on Friday.
Indonesia has tough laws against drugs. Widodo has previously been criticised for ordering executions against convicted narcos who were given a death penalty by the court.

[Al Jazeera] Iran has announced the launch of a new missile production line, according to its state media, against a backdrop of tension between the United States and Tehran.
The Sayyad 3 missile can reach an altitude of 27km and travel up to 120km, Iran's Defence Minister Hossein Dehghan said at an undisclosed location of an inauguration ceremony on Saturday.
The missile can target radar evasive fighter planes, unmanned aerial vehicles, cruise missiles and helicopters, he said.
Dehghan also said that the recent $110bn military deal between the US and Saudi Arabia was intended as a threat to Iran.
"We recently witnessed an immense purchase that some countries in the region paid as a ransom to America and they intend to bring weapons into the region, and this purchase was done with the goal of threatening Islamic Iran," Dehghan said according to the website for state TV.

[AnNahar] President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... 's White House dialed up the pressure on Iran Friday, demanding the quick return of Americans detained in the Islamic Theocratic Republic.
"President Trump is prepared to impose new and serious consequences on Iran unless all unjustly imprisoned American citizens are released and returned," the White House said in a statement.
The tough warning comes just days after Trump rowed back on a campaign promise and upheld the Iran nuclear deal, while introducing new non-nuclear related sanctions.
The threat of prisoner-related sanctions opens up a new front in tensions between Tehran and the Trump administration.
The measure comes after a Chinese American accused of "infiltration" in Iran was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The man was identified as Xiyue Wang, a 37-year-old researcher at Princeton University.
US officials say Trump has taken a keen interest in the fate of Americans held overseas and was deeply affected by the case of Otto Warmbier, a student who was released last month from a North Korean prison in a coma and died shortly after being sent back home.
"President Donald J. Trump and his Administration are redoubling efforts to bring home all Americans unjustly detained abroad," the White House statement said.
"The United States condemns hostage takers and nations that continue to take hostages and detain our citizens without just cause or due process."
The statement mentioned Xiyue Wang by name, along with Siamak and Baquer Namazi and ex-FBI agent and CIA contractor Robert Levinson -- who went missing in March 2007.
Washington and Tehran have had no diplomatic relations since April 1980 in the wake of the Islamic revolution, and tensions have sharpened under Trump after a brief warming under his predecessor, Barack Obama Dreams of My Sainted Father... The two countries along with other major powers signed an accord July 14, 2015 aimed at curbing Iran's nuclear program. Washington has continued to honor the accord despite Trump's threats as a candidate last year to "rip it up."
