Fidel Castro accused Ukraine on Friday of shooting down the Malaysia Airlines plane that crashed in rebel-held territory, blaming its "pro-imperialist" government for the disaster that killed 298 people.
"Cuba... must express its repudiation of this action by such an anti-Russian, anti-Ukrainian and pro-imperialist government," the 87-year-old father of the Cuban Revolution wrote in the official newspaper Granma.
Flight MH17 crashed Thursday in eastern Ukraine, where the pro-Western government is battling pro-Russian separatists, sparking a flurry of accusations over who was responsible for apparently shooting it down.
Castro said the plane had been hit while flying "on a route under the control of the bellicose government of Chocolate King Petro Poroshenko," a reference to the confectionery magnate turned Ukrainian president.
In a wide-ranging article headlined "Abnormal Provocation," Castro also accused US President Barack Obama of supporting the Israeli ground assault on the Gaza Strip.
"Coinciding with the crime of the Malaysian plane... the president of the United States supported the (Gaza) action, calling this repugnant crime an act of legitimate defense," Castro wrote.
"Obama does not support David against Goliath, he supports Goliath against David."
"I wish to put on record my solidarity with the heroic people defending the last shred of what was their homeland for thousands of years," he said of the Palestinians.

That would then call for a set of the monster truck tires to do that wobbling down the aisle if it were tasked to carry Mochelle-like loads.
Not sure if the Safeway building plans are up to that level of floor loading........(wanted to say Piggly Wiggly, but refrained, too easy)
