In a story seemingly ripped from an episode of "The Sopranos," a co-owner of Brooklyn-based pizzeria L&B Spumoni Gardens was fatally shot outside his home on Thursday night. Louis Barbati, 61, was shot twice in the torso, leaving at least two bullet holes in his family's white picket fence.

I clicked on the headline, and the link there goes to the rest of the story: the pizzaria is mob-linked, and disputing with another mob-linked pizzaria over compensation for a stolen secret sauce recipe.
AVON, Ohio - A 911 call alleging that a hotel patron pledged his allegiance to ISIS caused panic at an Avon hotel earlier this week.
On Wednesday just before 6 p.m., the Avon Police Department received a 911 call from the sister of a woman working as a clerk at the Fairfield Inn and Suites on Colorado Avenue.
The caller said her sister told her there was a man in the hotel lobby "in full head dress with multiple disposable phones pledging his allegiance to ISIS."
According to police, she repeated that there was a "suspicious mal at the front desk with disposable phones, two of them, in a full head dress." Apparently the head dress little resembled the one worn by Mel Brooks during his cinematic attack on schwarzes riding in a covered wagon. Now that the highest US legal authorities went stupid far out of their way to obscure a real ISIS inspired attack, the little people on the front lines now must make their own threat assessments, however ill-informed. Ibrahim Hooper of CAIR mentioned "anti-Muslim bigotry".

...This is the part of Ohio where I grew up - would love to get more details on this. (Long story, but a thobe wasn't THAT exotic there even in the 70s)
And you have got to imagine that ISIS has to be tearing its hair out at this point - they keep hitting us to try and provoke an apocalyptic response, and we keep insisting that it's not them. At this point, I'm picturing another four-figure-casualty scenario with clear video footage of men in traditional Muslim garb with signs around their necks saying "We Are Fearsome Muslim Terrorists" committing it, and the Government will insist that they were actually Quebecquois separatists...

Mike, according to The Independent, the gentleman in question was a businessman from Abu Dhabi in town for medical treatment. The CAIR representative claims he had a stroke, but another news source said he was treated on site for a panic attack, and sent to the hospital as a precaution.
[Daily Caller] Nineteen-year-old Hannah Cohen and her mother Shirley are suing the TSA after a Thursday incident in which agents at the Memphis International Airport beat and jailed the young woman during a security check.
According to WREG Memphis, the Cohens were traveling from Memphis to Chattanooga, a trip they have been making for 17 years so that Hannah can receive brain cancer treatment at St. Jude Hospital.
According to Shirley, Hannah -- who is also partially deaf and blind in one eye -- set off a metal detector while passing through security.
"They wanted to do further scanning, she was reluctant, she didn't understand what they were about to do," Shirley told WREG. "She's trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor. There was blood everywhere."
Hannah was arrested sent to "Jail East," though authorities eventually threw out the charges.
The TSA released a short statement on the incident, noting that "passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation."
The Cohens have filed a lawsuit against the Memphis Airport, Airport police and the TSA.

The Left wanted to turn this all into a gulag, they've succeeded. Oh, by the way, we're knowledgeable enough to 1- know that Bush implemented this, but 2 - did it to shut down the Donks and MSM show who insisted that it had to be done and Bush was responsible for obstructing. Bush was a decent guy, but he never understood who the real enemy is. Obama does, that's why he fights Pubs, rednecks, conservatives, and fly over country harder than any Muslim organization.

Might be something to look into Skid. Last time I was at CMP Talledega I didn't do well at all on the 600 meter. Some old former Marine range officer attending the firing line threatened to put me back on the 200 if I couldn't register on the 6. He was afraid I was damaging the equipment with stray shots.
North Korean leader Pudgy Kim Jong-un was caught on camera taking a nap in a meeting of the rubberstamp parliament where he was named chairman of a new organ called the Commission on State Affairs.
Not like they were doing anything important...
State TV broadcast 25 minutes of footage from the Supreme People's Assembly meeting Wednesday and showed Kim sitting suspiciously still for several seconds after turning a few pages of documents on top of his desk. His head drooped -- and the camera suddenly panned away to the audience.
And the camera operator is now turning pebbles into sand...
A source said there are widespread rumors that the corpulent Kim enjoys drinking into the small hours, so perhaps he was sleeping it off.
Pray for cirrhosis...
Chubby Kim boasted to his father's former sushi chef, Kenji Fujimoto, in May that he has drunk 10 bottles of Bordeaux in one night.
Other North Korean officials caught snoozing in important meetings risk their lives. Hyon Yong-chol, the armed forces minister, was executed in public on charges of disobedience after he was caught dozing off in a meeting in April last year presided over by Suet Face Kim, according to the National Intelligence Service.
And the execution of Kim's uncle and former eminence grise Jang Song-taek was precipitated by his failure to applaud his nephew with sufficient zeal while lounging in a chair.

"I'm not gonna wake him up. *YOU* wake him up."
"No way. Remember what happened to Kim?"
"Dude, we're Korean. Which Kim?"
"Dead Kim."
"Oh, that Kim. Meeting's almost over anyway."
Today, Friday, July 01 2016, the Baltic Dry Index climbed by 17 points, reaching 677 points.
Baltic Dry Index is compiled by the London-based Baltic Exchange and covers prices for transported cargo such as coal, grain and iron ore. The index is based on a daily survey of agents all over the world.
Baltic Dry hit a temporary peak on May 20, 2008, when the index hit 11,793. The lowest level ever reached was on Wednesday the 10th of February 2016, when the index dropped to 290 points.
The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, continued its rise on Friday, for an eighth consecutive session, on stronger demand across all vessel segments.
The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, was up 17 points, or 2.58 percent, at 677 points.
The capesize index rose 34 points, or 3.41 percent, to 1,030 points.
Average daily earnings for capesizes, which typically transport 150,000-tonne cargoes such as iron ore and coal, were up $243 at $7,353.
The panamax index rose 29 points, or 4.38 percent, to 691 points.
Average daily earnings for panamaxes, which usually carry coal or grain cargoes of about 60,000 to 70,000 tonnes, increased $232 to $5,528.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index rose 8 points to 627 points, while the handysize index rose 2 points to 344 points.

More than 100 Nobel laureates have signed a letter urging Greenpeace to end its opposition to genetically modified organisms (GMOs). The letter asks Greenpeace to cease its efforts to block introduction of a genetically engineered strain of rice that supporters say could reduce Vitamin-A deficiencies causing blindness and death in children in the developing world. The laureates don't realize that, for Greenpeace, there are too many people in the world.
