John Thompson and his offspring are a real piece of work in the Twin Cities area. The big money question is whether the super-uber-lib Soros Hennepin County prosecutor slaps him with big manslaughter charges or just a slap on the wrist...
[Red State] The Biben bribery scandal continues to unfold in real-time, and information regarding Hunter Biden and a Maltese bank account is raising new red flags. That comes amidst reports that the infamous FD-1023 at the heart of the issue includes a sourced allegation from the founder of Burisma that the Bidens coerced $10 million in bribes.

Jesse Watters mentioned the revelation on Monday evening, which originated from yet more emails uncovered from Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Hunter just got a sweetheart plea deal on the tax fraud and lying on the firearm purchase form. The firearm charge alone could have ment prison time but he won't spend a second in jail.

This only makes the situation with Trump look worse as far as "two systems of justice" goes.
One can only assume the purpose is to rub everyone's faces in it.

How many sweetheart deals can a guy get before some Federal judge who says enough is enough and throws the book at Hunter.

Misdemeanors to close out the five year investigation. A stunning display of intrepid, fearless investigative zeal by the watchdogs of American Justice.
I hope someone looks at the details of the guilty plea to determine scope of any "immunity" for further prosecution?
The deals signal to me that Jojo may be on short final for the 25th off-ramp and someone is crafting the Presidential Pardons language for the entire, sordid family so they can enjoy the grift from decades of public service.

Pretty long drive from Alameda County. If I were a cynic I'd suspect the tweeter of cherrypicking to support his agenda. Though I suppose the responders could've stolen an ambulance to escape Oakland only to run out of gas in Chicago.
Mass shootings in communities across the U.S. have killed at least 12 people since Friday and injured more than 100, CBS Chicago's Charlie De Mar reported. The shootings follow a rise in homicides and other violence over the past several years that experts say accelerated during the coronavirus pandemic. Shootings with multiple people killed or wounded happened in suburban Chicago, Washington state, central Pennsylvania, St. Louis, Idaho, Southern California and Baltimore, among other places.
[ZERO] A search and rescue mission was launched Monday after a submersible went missing while maneuvering around the Titanic wreckage off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
Rear Adm. John Mauger, US Coast Guard 1st District Commander, told Fox News the submersible belongs to deep sea exploring company OceanGate and was overdue in returning to the surface.
The vessel has enough oxygen for 96 hours, which "gives us some time to continue searching and continue to using all our means to try and locate the crew members," Mauger said.
"This is on the site of a wreckage, the wreckage of the Titanic, and so there's a lot of debris on the bottom, and locating an object on the bottom will be difficult.
"We have lives that are potentially at risk," he said.
OceanGate Expeditions, the submersible operator that charges $250k per seat, confirmed that it had lost radio communications with the submersible. It's noted on the company's website that it has five-person submersibles. There was no word on how many were onboard the vessel.
"We are exploring and mobilizing all options to bring the crew back safely. Our entire focus is on the crewmembers in the submersible and their families.
"We are working toward the safe return of the crewmembers," OceanGate said in a statement.
The New York Times said a military aircraft and a Coast Guard ship from Canada had been deployed. Vessel-tracking website Marine Traffic shows ships are headed to the Titanic wreck site.

When a book or the movie is simply not enough. Gatlinburg and the Smokies are so 1950's. Adventure tourism, some risk is assumed. Prices starting at $250k. Airfare not included.
Is there an OceanGate shoulder tab, blazer patch, or grill badge? Number of qualifying dives? Durations ?

...Sadly, a reality check: that deep, if you sneeze sideways, you're going to become a curious, bitter paste. The one blessing there is that according to the scientists, it happens so fast that the human brain cannot process it.
I've never been a fan of the Titanic tourism industry - the Ballard research was one thing (and was actually for another purpose entirely) and even James Cameron's dives for the movie Titanic were done with the utmost care and skill. But over the last couple decades this sort of thing has become the equivalent of an extremely high-priced Vegas helicopter tour...and the odds finally caught up with them. My genuine and sincere condolences to the families and friends of the lost - and now the companies need to knock it the hell off.

Never interrupt your opponent when they're making a mistake - comes to mind. Now if we can convince members of the WEF to partake in such dives or shooting themselves into space...

I'm curious about the sub's safety features and whether they were tested or not. Emergency blow or lead ballast to drop. It must have had something.

One can hope if they are lost it was a catastrophic implosion to end their lives in a millisecond.
Otherwise, 96 hours packed in a tube is a pretty grim fate.
link goes to analysis map of tropical Atlantic- the map is updated about every 6 hours or so during the hurricane season
New Tropical Storm has formed and is headed toward Caribbean. It is just a few days away from the windward Islands. It has a warm ocean and a moist atmosphere to help it strengthen. There is also an area of wind shear near the windward Islands that could weaken it or steer it north of Hispaniola toward Bermuda.
I noticed on some of the comment boards that the leftists were all hoping it would strengthen and hit Florida and hurt the DeSantis campaign.

Now, think of all the Political PR opportunities if a Major storm hit the Trump Fla. Estate area?
#7
So far first storm (Brett) has not intensified and new forecasts are bringing it into central Caribbean and then weakening it below tropical storm status by end of next weekend. Of course this could change.
The second system (not yet a tropical cyclone) may prove more serious as it is moving somewhat slower and thus less affected by vertical wind shear but we'll see about that.

I think Mr. Kipling had a few words to say on this subject.
You talk o' better food for us, an' schools, an' fires, an' all:
We'll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don't mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow's Uniform is not the soldier-man's disgrace.
For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute! "
But it's " Saviour of 'is country " when the guns begin to shoot;
An' it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' anything you please;
An 'Tommy ain't a bloomin' fool - you bet that Tommy sees!
[NYT Via Aljazeera] Russia sought to kill a defector living in the United States in 2020, enlisting a Mexican scientist to help in the plot, according to a report by the New York Times.
While the scheme to kill Aleksandr Poteyev failed, its aftermath "spiraled into tit-for-tat retaliation by the United States and Russia", the newspaper reported on Monday.
Citing three former senior US officials, the New York Times said it had independently verified the assassination attempt, which will be chronicled in an upcoming book by Harvard scholar Calder Walton.
Poteyev, a former Russian intelligence officer, had previously served as an informant to the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). His tips led the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to ensnare 11 Russian spies living on the US East Coast in 2010.
Poteyev had escaped Russia via Belarus before he could face punishment for his disclosures. Once in the US, Poteyev was resettled in Miami, Florida, under a secret CIA programme to protect spies, according to Monday’s report.
In 2011, a Moscow court sentenced him to 25 years in prison for treason, despite his absence from the country.

[OAN] U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who became the first secretary of state to travel to China since 2018, claimed that the U.S. does not support Taiwanese independence in a press conference following his meeting with Xi Jinping. Right out of the Neville Chamberlain playbook.
"We do not support Taiwan independence," Blinken said on Monday. "We remain opposed to any unilateral changes to the status quo by either side. We continue to expect the peaceful resolution of cross strait differences. We remain committed to continuing our responsibilities under the Taiwan Relations Act including making sure Taiwan has the ability to defend itself."

Following his meeting with Xi in Beijing, China has still been unwilling to resume military-to-military contact, which the U.S. considers to be crucial in order to avoid miscommunication and conflict.
Despite not coming to an agreement, Xi and Blinken felt satisfied with the progress made during their two days of talks. There were no specific areas of agreement beyond a decision to return an agenda for cooperation and competition agreed upon last year by President Joe Biden and XI at a summit in Bali.

...It should be pointed out that this has been the official US position since Nixon went to China - by the book, Blinky simply reiterated US policy. The real problem is that Xi ain't the comparatively reasonable guys who ran the PRC then.

Its almost as if they have insider knowledge of the coming leadership crisis in the US as the Puppet Show winds down and and a cackling nut-job takes the helm? Somewhere an enterprising young 35A Major is tracking Indication and Warnings on a checklist and noticing the parallel increases of both the composite indicators for the Taiwan Invasion and the apparent destabilization of the political leadership in press reporting. Causation or coincidence?
