[NYPOST] A woman was fatally shot and her boyfriend maimed by a gunman who reportedly took issue with how the couple told their dog to poop during a walk in Denver on Wednesday. The victims — identified in reports as Isabella Thallas, 21, and Darian Simon — were walking their pooch near Coors Field when 36-year-old suspect Michael Close quarreled with them from inside his apartment, the Denver Post reported.
"The suspect got into a verbal altercation with the victims related to the victims telling the dog to poop," according to a probable cause statement obtained by the newspaper.
Close reportedly asked the couple if they were going to train their pooch or just yell at it, the police records state.
Simon told police he tried to ignore Close before shots rang out, striking him twice and killing his girlfriend.
Police caught Close later Wednesday as he was driving on a nearby highway, the report said. A rifle and a handgun were found in his car, cops said.

[NYPOST] A 56-year-old North Dakota drowned in a giant vat of sunflower seeds when she lost her footing and was sucked inside the grain bin, according to a report.
The unidentified Montpelier woman met her fate in the ghastly accident at the Glinz Farm in Pingree, where she had been helping two trucks unload seeds on Wednesday, the Jamestown Sun reported.
The woman was wearing a harness, but it was not attached at the time of the accident and she plunged inside the massive container, according to the news outlet.
Other workers cut holes in the side of the bin in a desperate attempt to free the woman. Firefighters and other first responders drilled more holes to try to reach her.
She was finally removed and received CPR, but was pronounced dead at the scene. I seen dat movie.

Working inside grain bins is dangerous. Our local Fire Department just had a fire call last week to extricate two folks from one. The first got caught up in the grain and the second tried to rescue him and also got stuck. Luckily there was a third (one of the guy's wife) who called it in.
Never been in a full one. Folks tell me it's like quicksand.

Its no joke. Even before 'going under' there is tremendous pressure placed on the lung diaphragm.

There are M. If you are not properly roped off, will suck you rather quickly. This is tragic.
The only thing worse are the manure slurry pits. Toxic gases. In one case a father, son and uncle died. First one went in and the other two followed trying to save him. Sad.
From the mad lads The Rubberbandits comes this old is new again video that is now going viral as a much deserved swipe at the clownish world that is Antifa activism.

I was watching a Great Courses lecture on archeoastronomy the other day. The lecturer made the point that the Mayan Dec. 21, 2012 date was not the end of the world, but merely the end of one calendar epoch and the start of another. Pity, all that hysteria for nothing.

The world will certainly end on Nov 3rd.
For whom is still undecided.

It should be interesting that if the world really does end within the next week or two, I have to wonder how many Dem candidates will still receive votes.
[WSJ] Democrats cite a spike in cases in Florida, Arizona and Texas as evidence of a virus resurgence. But more testing, especially in vulnerable communities, is naturally turning up more cases. Cases in Texas have increased by about a third in the last two weeks, but so have tests. About a quarter of the new cases are in counties with large prisons and meatpacking plants that were never forced to shut down.
Tests have increased by about 37% in Florida in two weeks, but confirmed cases have risen 28%. Cases were rising at a faster clip during the last two weeks of April (47%) when much of the state remained locked down. Now restaurants, malls, barbershops and gyms are open if they follow social-distancing guidelines.
In Arizona, cases have increased by 73% in the last two weeks though tests have increased by just 53%. But a quarter of all cases in the state are on Indian reservations, which have especially high-risk populations. The rate of diabetes is twice as high among Native Americans as whites and the rate of obesity is 50% higher.
Liberals and the media demanded more testing before states could reopen, yet now are criticizing states because more testing has turned up more cases. Keep in mind that New York has reported about the same number of new cases in the last two weeks as Florida, though it ramped up testing earlier so the relative increase appears less significant.
A more important metric is hospitalizations. In Arizona the weekly rolling average for new Covid-19 hospitalizations has been flat for a month. Emergency-room visits for Covid-19 have spiked this week, but the number of ER beds in use hasn’t changed since late April. Hospitals in Arizona (and Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,) have reported an increase in cases from U.S. citizens and green-card holders returning from Mexico where hospitals are overwhelmed. But with 22% of ICU beds and 62% of ventilators available, Arizona hospitals should have capacity to manage an increase in patients as it reopens.
Texas has also recently reported an uptick in Covid-19 hospitalizations, mostly in the Houston and Austin areas. Current Covid-19 hospitalizations are up about 20% since the state began to reopen, but Gov. Greg Abbott ... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too... says hospitals aren’t overwhelmed and much of the increase is tied to nursing homes. The number of currently hospitalized patients per capita is still about 80% higher in New York City than in Texas. Mr. Abbott started reopening six weeks ago while Mr. Cuomo began letting manufacturing and construction resume in the Big Apple this week.
Fatalities are a lagging epidemic indicator since most people who die have been in the hospital for two to three weeks. But deaths also aren’t surging. Texas has recorded 151 deaths this past week versus 221 in the last week of April. Florida has reported 239 deaths, 72 fewer than in the last week of April.
Deaths are probably declining in part from better and earlier treatment, but this means there’s less to fear from reopening.

March 22, 2020 - sometime during the day, the number of cases crossed 31,250.
March 25 there were some 62,500 cases in the US.
March 28 the caseload doubled - 125,000. Panic ensues. Doubling every three days!!
April 3 - 250,000 cases. Doubled again, in six days!
April 11 - 500,000 cases. Eight days to double.
April 30 - 1 million cases. Nineteen days to double.
June 11 - two million. 44 days to double.

I watched 8 minutes of BBC News America last night out of curiosity. I knew what to expect - CNN or CNN on steroids. Sure enough, the first part of it was on the 'second wave' and some chump from the Harvard School of Health (might not be the exact right name) was, you guessed it, all but calling for continuing the lockdown. I'm sure he's getting paid either way (and I have a fix for that, doubt it ever gets passed into law).
The remaining time - there was 'some violence' in the Autonomous Zone; George Martin was 'murdered' and John Bolton's book (its theme - trashing Trump) was displayed in best possible light.
Plus ca change, or some French bullshit like that...

I stopped paying attention to the numbers. I still wear a mask and try to keep my social distance but I still don't know anybody who has had Covid-19. Nobody. It kinda makes me wonder...

I know one person (remotely) who got CV...and she works at a nursing home in the Midwest. That is it. No neighbors, no friends of neighbors, no nothing. How many empty testing places and Javits Centers have we seen? Come on....

One of my daughters got it (lives in another state). Two of the staff at my mother's nursing home got it.
In my local circle, though, none. For which I am grateful.
I will be very interested in seeing what next week brings, and who does or does not get sick after shouting together in crowds.

[Summit] After a campaign by a left-wing mob, contractors refused to remove a statue of the founder of the Scouting movement in the UK after locals rallied to protect it.
After the statue of Lord Baden-Powell, which is situated in Poole Quay in Dorset, was put on a list of "racist" statues to be toppled by leftist extremists, the local council announced it would be temporarily removed and put into storage in order to "protect" it.
"We know that local people feel proud of Lord Baden-Powell’s and the Scout movement’s links with Poole, and that some people feel that we would be giving in to the protesters by temporarily removing the statue. However, we feel it is responsible to protect it for future generations to enjoy and respect," a town councillor said.
However, when a group of local residents showed up to defend the statue and contractors refused to remove it while people were present, local authorities were forced to back down.
One elderly man even vowed, "I will fight you" when asked by a Sky News reporter how he felt about attempts to remove the statue.
A top North Korean official warned that the country would soon take “painful” retaliation against South Korea, saying that its trust in Seoul to uphold inter-Korean agreements has been “shattered” by the government’s failure to stop activists from sending anti-regime leaflets
[The Drive] The French Triomphant class nuclear ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) Le Téméraire test-fired an M51 submarine-launched ballistic missile in the Atlantic off of Finistère, France in the early hours of June 12th, 2020. Some sort of a test appeared to be in the works just three days ago when Le Téméraire was spotted sailing out of port with huge test instrumentation masts attached that are commonly fitted to submarines prior to developmental ballistic missile launches. Then, last evening, our good friend @aircraftspots began tracking a U.S. Air Force RC-135S Cobra Ball ballistic missile and rocket tracking aircraft flying out over the Caribbean. Not long after, a French Falcon 50 maritime patrol aircraft showed up in the area, indicating a launch was likely imminent.

[Ynet]-The Trump administration Friday finalized a regulation that overturns Obama-era protections for transgender people against sex discrimination in health care.
The policy shift, long-sought by the president's religious and socially conservative supporters, defines gender as a person's biological sex. The Obama regulation defined gender as a person's internal sense of being male, female, neither or a combination.
LGBTQ groups say explicit protections are needed for people seeking sex-reassignment treatment, and even for transgender people who need medical care for common conditions such as diabetes or heart problems. A strike against the heart of madness

Not madness at all from their point of view. Just a new chapter in degrading the proles and forcing them to acquiesce to and champion what even the dumbest farm animal knows is manifestly untrue.
[JPost]-Ohio State Senator Stephen A. Huffman sparked outrage, blaming the African-American community's high COVID-19 rates on the "colored population" not washing hands, The New York Times reported Thursday.
According to The Times, Huffman was fired from his job as an emergency room physician following his highly controversial remarks. The Republican state senator represents the state's fifth senatorial district. What's next: somebody claiming that in society with average IQ of 100, group with average IQ of 80 cannot be anything but "hewers of wood & carries of water"?
