It's been awhile since we've had a bleg. I always hate to do it. It makes me feel like a bum. I guess that's appropriate, since I'm bumming. That's why I try to keep it to a minimum. But I'm running low on bourbon and I could use a new laptop.
This is also supposed to be a hardware year, although our server seems to be indestructible. It's the best one we've had so far. It's been sitting up in Baltimore for three+ years now, untouched by human hands. Saying that, naturally, means it's going to catch fire or explode or something as soon as the words are out of my mouth (keyboard, as it were). We back up the database, but only twice a day now. I've been extremely remiss about synching the rest of the box, so if we have a crash we'll lose a bunch of images and I'll have to reconstitute. The machine I'm working on at this moment should be able to slip in as a replacement, after a two hour drive to get to Baltimore, but it's not up to it right now. Since it's as old as the server, I should buy a new box.
We're coming up on nineteen years of the Burg. The archives are there, they're available for anyone who wants to use them except for bots. The bots are why you have to email me to get on the archives list. The bloid's now automated, kinda sorta creakily. I have to tell it what I want in it, but I don't have to handle Inkscape and Gimp with my fading, twitching hands to put it together.
Pardon my (usual) long-windedness. The subject is, if you've got it, please kick in. I'd be happy to keep at it for the next nineteen years, and then I'll be happy to hand it off to somebody else who'll love it and take care of it (and obsess over it) like I do.
Fred Keep on keeping on, Fred. I'm in

[Fox News] Seattle protesters storm City Hall, demand mayor resign after driving police out of area, declaring autonomous zone
Hundreds of protesters, aided by a sympathetic City Council member, stormed Seattle's City Hall Tuesday night to demand the mayor's resignation, just days after seizing a six-block downtown zone that includes a shuttered police precinct.
Demonstrators remained peaceful, without reports of violence or injuries, but are pushing Mayor Jenny Durkan to step down if she refuses to defund the city's police department.
The protesters continued to camp out in a self-declared "Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone" (CHAZ)-- a region spanning six blocks and encompassing the precinct-- which has effectively been abandoned by law enforcement after the Seattle Police Department closed the East Precinct on Monday. Much more at link, with pictures.
Courtesy of lord garth, Red State reports on the above-unnamed City Council member and the events leading up to the storming. Lots of tweets with video at the link:
Late on Tuesday night, hundreds of protestors entered Seattle City Hall. It is believed that City Councilmember Kshama Sawant, who has a key to the building, opened it up for them.
Sawant called her colleagues "sellouts" and "corporate politicians.
Also:
Earlier on Tuesday, Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County filed a lawsuit against the Seattle Police Department over the “violent tactics it has used to break up largely peaceful protests in recent days.”

This has gone beyond "demonstrations" to outright anarchy and secession. We are in the midst of a civil war, and too few people understand that -- including our president and the DC bureaucrats. It will only end in bloodshed and destruction. I fear for our nation.

Apparently Bane, and Dr. Crane's Courts are being discussed.
They are calling for armed guards for their barricades. I think that a visit from a suitable detachment of military is in order. Maybe start with a Warthog or Apache visit.
Seattle's political culture is very liberal and progressive for the United States, with over 80% of the population voting for the Democratic Party. All precincts in Seattle voted for Democratic Party candidate Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election.[263] In partisan elections for the Washington State Legislature and United States Congress, nearly all elections are won by Democrats. Although local elections are nonpartisan, most of the city's elected officials are known to be Democrats.
In 1926, Seattle became the first major American city to elect a female mayor, Bertha Knight Landes.[264] It has also elected an openly gay mayor, Ed Murray,[265] and a third-party socialist councillor, Kshama Sawant.[266] For the first time in United States history, an openly gay black woman was elected to public office when Sherry Harris was elected as a Seattle city councillor in 1991.[267][268] The majority of the city council is female.[269]
Seattle is widely considered one of the most socially liberal cities in the United States, even surpassing Portland.[271] In the 2012 U.S. general election, a majority of Seattleites voted to approve Referendum 74 and legalize gay marriage in Washington state.[272] In the same election, an overwhelming majority of Seattleites also voted to approve the legalization of the recreational use of cannabis in the state.[273] Like much of the Pacific Northwest (which has the lowest rate of church attendance in the United States and consistently reports the highest percentage of atheism[274][275]), church attendance, religious belief, and political influence of religious leaders are much lower than in other parts of America.[276]
In July 2012, Seattle banned plastic shopping bags.[277] In June 2014 the city passed a local ordinance to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour on a staged basis from 2015 to 2021. When fully implemented the $15 hourly rate will be the highest minimum wage in the nation.[278]
On October 6, 2014, Seattle officially replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples' Day, honoring Seattle's Native American community and acknowledging the controversies surrounding the legacy of Christopher Columbus.[279][280]
On May 9, 2017, Mayor Murray announced he would not seek re-election[281] following a lawsuit alleging sexual abuse of several teenaged boys in the 1980s.[282] Murray resigned as mayor on September 12, 2017, effective at 5 p.m. on September 13, 2017,[283] hours after The Seattle Times reported a fifth allegation of child sexual abuse.[284]

Given this defund local Police move, I am wondering if this is part of a greater plan?
Like to use the unrest as a means to gain acceptance for a DC Swamp controlled National Police Force (Gestapo) to restore order?
OR, to force Trump to use the NG to restore order. Which they will use to start another Impeachment process and play for Black voters that have given up on the Democrats.

HAHAHAHAHAHA, BLM hasn't just jumped the shark, they're buggering it's dead carcass. The Democrats have maybe a week to get as far away from them as they can before every mom with kids under 10 maybe howls for BLM blood. They want to cancel Paw Patrol and euthanize the police dog!
Remember, everybody - they're mostly peaceful!
[Boston 25 News] - BOSTON — Boston police are investigating after the city’s Christopher Columbus statue was vandalized overnight.
The head of the statue was knocked off and left at its base in the North End’s Christopher Columbus Park.
Boston 25 News has reached out to the commissioner of Boston Parks and Recreation and Boston police for more information.
This is not the first time the statue has been targeted. In 2015, it was doused in red paint with "Black Lives Matter" spray painted on its base.
At the time, Boston’s Parks and Recreation commissioner said while they encourage discourse, destroying public property is not the way to do it.
In 2006, someone took the statue’s head. It was found six days later and repaired. Past time to discourage discourse with BLM / Antifa goons. If the Angulo family was still around these BLM guys would be six feet under somewhere in a New Hampshire forest.
[RedState] The Portland Tribune reports that a wall is being built around Portland City Hall. The reason this is so delightfully ironic is because the city’s mayor, Ted Wheeler, gave an inspiring speech last year which he titled, “Building Bridges, Not Walls.”
On the occasion of Martin Luther King Day, the far-left mayor told the crowd, “The reality is that we’re living at a time where at the federal level, we have an administration that’s seeking to build a wall to divide us…We have a president who emboldens racist behavior.”
According to The Tribune:
Wooden walls are being erected around City Hall and the Portland Building to protect them from vandalism.
According to Mayor Ted Wheeler’s office, despite other fencing that was put up last week, both buildings continue to be marked with graffiti each night of the ongoing protests.
“Cleaning the buildings each day is taking public resources, particularly due to the limestone surface at City Hall. We are looking into the possibility of partnering with the arts community to create murals on the plywood in support of the racial justice movement,” Wheeler’s office told the Portland Tribune.
Protests have taken place downtown for more than 11 nights in a row following the death of African-American George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police. Although the most intense activity has taken place at the Justice Center, other buildings have been repeatedly vandalized, too, including the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse and Pioneer Place.

My-oh-my, the hypocrisy of it all. So Mr. Mayor, walls are necessary then? Are you going to scrap the sanctuary city nonsense too? That's very much a "no walls concept." These lefties are so inconsistent.
#8
And the wall is already coming down. In a statement, the city said that while the wall was intended to protect the building and minimize expenses, the city needed to “hear our community’s demands for racial justice, even when those demands take the form of spray paint.”

Gentlemen, gentlemen. Remain calm. Let the stories of sanctuary and representation for the homeless go about.
[Breitbart] Homicides rose by 250% in Los Angeles, and the number of shooting victims rose by 56%, during the week ending June 6, according to the Los Angeles Police Department — the same week as the Black Lives Matter protests and riots.
The surge in deadly crimes in L.A. mirrored similar reports elsewhere in the country for the week of May 31 to June 6, when riots and looting exploded alongside "peaceful protests" against the killing of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In Chicago, for example, May 31 marked the single deadliest 24-hour period in 60 years, with 18 people killed.
Crime escalated, in part, because police who normally would have been patrolling neighborhoods were pulled off the beat to secure downtown areas and commercial districts targeted by looters.
Ironically, L.A.’s grim week coincided with Mayor Eric Garcetti’s announcement that the LAPD budget would be cut by up to $150 million, which is more than two percent of the current total. His announcement encouraged protesters who support calls to "defund" or "abolish" the police.
The money, he said, was to be "reinvested" in "communities of color" — the same communities enduring a crime wave during the Black Lives Matter protests.
WTTW News obtained a recording of an online conference call held by the mayor’s office to brief all 50 aldermen on the city’s response to the unrest. Listen here:https://t.co/DhONZdd0jQ

Minnesota man hit with arson charge after police precinct burned down in George Floyd riots
[FoxNews] Branden Michael Wolfe, 23, of St. Paul, was charged in federal court with aiding and abetting arson at the Minneapolis Police Department’s Third Precinct, the Justice Department said. The station was set on fire during May 28 rioting that began after Floyd's death while in Minneapolis police custody days earlier. Rioters broke into the precinct around 10 p.m. and sparked a fire after police officers on the roof were rescued by helicopter.
Federal prosecutors said St. Paul police officers were called on June 3 to a Menards home improvement store after Wolfe was seen wearing body armor with his name written on duct tape, a law enforcement belt and a baton in the store. The belt had handcuffs and a knife attached. Officers responded and arrested Wolfe.
He was fired from his security guard position at the store hours earlier after he referred to social media posts about him stealing items from the police precinct. Additional items -- including a 9mm pistol, police radio, riot helmet and a police-issued overdose kit -- were recovered from his apartment, according to federal prosecutors.

[CBS] Selling looted goods on Facebook – CBS 2 found it’s happening right now, with several videos and photos sent our way. We sent the evidence to Chicago Police, and on Monday night, CBS 2’s Tara Molina looked into what will happen next – with the CPD and the FBI investigating.

A Pentagon official told Fox News on Tuesday that the National Guard saw its high-water mark several days ago, and that there will be a “very steady decline” in the coming days as states "out-process" those National Guard forces on duty.
As of Tuesday, according to the official, 38,498 National Guard soldiers were still active — a decline from the 43,300 active on Saturday.

The provocations will continue until Trump breaks and brings in the military. When that happens, a blood bath incident will be engineered and in November, "African-Americans" will vote Biden.
Or, so - I assume, the planning goes.
Of course, the planning doesn't incorporate the fact that a new massive outbreak of CV19 is on it's way.

Perhaps blacks should be offered farmland somewhere so they can get away from the cycle of violence, grow their own food, and become independent from the man. Certainly a better option than rebuilding the warzones to watch it happen again and again.

[Daily Wire] IT BEGINS: Rioters Burned Down Minneapolis Manufacturer. Now They’re Relocating, Taking Jobs With Them.
The owner of a manufacturing company in Minneapolis that was burned to the ground during last week’s violent riots has announced that he is relocating his company, taking dozens of jobs out of the city, due to the failure of the city’s Democrat leaders to protect businesses.
“They don’t care about my business,” Kris Wyrobek, president and owner of 7-Sigma Inc., told the Star Tribune. “They didn’t protect our people. We were all on our own.”
As he watched a nearby business burn to the ground, Wyrobek noted, “The fire engine was just sitting there, but they wouldn’t do anything.”
“The city’s first survey of property damage shows that nearly 1,000 commercial properties in Minneapolis were damaged during the riots, including 52 businesses that were completely destroyed and 30 other locations that sustained severe damage,” The Star Tribune reported. “Owners and insurance experts estimate the costs of the damage could exceed $500 million. That would make the Twin Cities riots the second-costliest civil disturbance in U.S. history, trailing only those in Los Angeles in 1992, which were also sparked by racial tensions with police and had $1.4 billion in damages in today’s dollars.”
Wyrobek told The Star Tribune that it was too late to change his mind about keeping his company in the city, adding that before the riots, he never in his “wildest nightmare” would have thought about relocating his business.

Mr. Wyrobek, I wish you well. And it is disgusting (but not at all surprising) that the fire engine stood idly by. I hope you find a good, new location. Heaven forbid it won't happen again somewhere else.

I wouldn't be too harsh on the fire department, they were probably waiting for the police to show up and protect the firefighters from the "peaceful protestors".
On Tuesday, Project Veritas released the third of its Antifa video exposés. This undercover video exposes the armed branch of antifa who want to abolish the police and identify as the leftist movement’s “militia.”
“Redneck Revolt,” also known as the “John Brown Gun Club,” identifies itself as the “militia wing of antifa.” A Project Veritas journalist infiltrated the North Carolina chapter in 2018.
While Redneck Revolt supports gun ownership, local leaders condemned the National Rifle Association.
In the video, a Redneck Revolt leader insists, “I hate the NRA. The NRA is a white supremacist terrorist organization.”
“This particular group sees themselves as armed revolutionaries. They’re all about the working class,” the Project Veritas journalist explains. “So they share these communist, anarchist ideals that the working class should run the country with no government and they believe in total abolition of everything, including the police.”
She reported that Redneck Revolt was also part of the riots in Charlottesville, Va. in 2017. “Charlottesville was comprised of your typical Antifa black bloc measures. There were also Black Lives Matter. There were multiple chapters of Redneck Revolt that went to Charlottesville and acted as the militia wing of the anti-fascist movement,” she said.
Following the example of John Brown, the abolitionist who led the raid on Harper’s Ferry in order to arm the slaves for an uprising, Redneck Revolt aims to arm black Americans.
“One of their missions is to arm minorities. They feel that black Americans and minorities are disenfranchised by gun laws and permit fees,” the Project Veritas journalist reported.
[Daily Wire] New York City Police Department officers are retiring early after losing support from their higher-ups and from political leaders amid mass protests and riots over the death of George Floyd, according to current and former officers.
NYPD officers have worked consistent 12-hour shifts to curb the violence that has ripped through the city and destroyed dozens of businesses. Rioters have looted stores and injured hundreds of law enforcement officers, according to the police
Now, rank-and-file officers are electing to take their pensions and exit the force rather than stay in and cooperate with NYPD and political leadership that appears to be more interested in appeasing mobs than backing their police officers.
“You have some in the hospital, but there were over 300 injuries. And the thing that scares me, judge, I’m hearing close to 600 cops have either put in their papers, or they’re talking to the department about resigning or retiring like this is insane,” Kerik told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Libyan National Army’s air force launched a massive attack overnight on a military convoy belonging to the Ottoman Turkish-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) forces.
According to the Libyan National Army, their air force bombed a big GNA convoy near the city of Abu Ghryan, resulting in heavy losses for the latter.
The Libyan National Army said several GNA fighters were killed and maimed during their attack near Abu Ghryan, including a number of Syrian mercenaries.
In addition to the heavy losses to military personnel, the Libyan National Army’s attack also resulted in the destruction of several vehicles and mechanisms.
Some reports even claimed that the Libyan National Army’s attack resulted in the destruction of a Ottoman Turkish air defense system that was being transported to the area.
This latest attack by the Libyan National Army comes at a time when the fighting in northern Libya has intensified at several fronts, including the Sirte axis.

But, but, UN-backed GNA were winning, according to yesterday's agitprop?
The LNA and the GNA are based in the east and west respectively. Less than a month ago, the LNA was on the outskirts of Tripoli, and GNA was making a last stand. Now the LNA is defending Sirte, which is east of Misrata, which is itself to the east of Tripoli. Basically, the LNA is on the run, and it's not looking good for Haftar, who's heading it up. If Haftar loses Sirte, the next stop is Benghazi, after which Haftar wraps it up and crosses the border into Egypt and exile once again.

[Jpost] Ottoman Turkish authorities have ordered the detention of 275 people, mainly military personnel, over suspected links to the network that Ankara says orchestrated a failed coup in 2016, police, security sources and state media said on Tuesday.
Authorities have carried out a sustained crackdown on alleged followers of U.S.-based Moslemholy manFethullah Gülen ... a Turkish preacher living in Pennsylvania whom the current govt of Turkey considers responsible for all the ills afflicting Turkey and possibly the entire world. Gülen and Erdogan used to be really good friends, but only one of them could be sultan, and Gülen lost... since the coup attempt in July 2016, when 250 people were killed.
Gulen denies any involvement. The former ally of President Tayyip Erdogan has lived in self-imposed exile in the United States since 1999.
The police operation was coordinated from the western city of Izmir and targeted people in 22 provinces, state-owned Anadolu news agency said. The police have already detained 145 of the suspects, it said.
The suspects, mostly on active duty, were believed to have communicated to other Gulen followers through pay phones and to have received advantages in admission to military schools, Anadolu said.
In a separate operation, police detained 16 military personnel the southeastern city Diyarbakir over the weekend, security sources said. On Tuesday, a local court nabbed Please don't kill me! six of them pending trial and freed 10 others, the sources added.
Istanbul police said prosecutors had ordered the detention of 44 military personnel, including a major and three lieutenants, as well as doctors and teachers. It said 33 people had already been detained in the operation spread over eight provinces.
Anadolu said police had also detained 25 out of 32 suspects from the air forces as part of another operation. It said detention warrants were issued for eight people in the gendarmerie forces, including a colonel.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...Qatar's satrapy in Asia Minor... 's Western allies have criticised the scale of the crackdown, while Ankara has defended the measures as a necessary response to the security threat.
Erdogan has for years accused Gulen's supporters of establishing a "parallel state" by infiltrating the police, judiciary, military and other state institutions.
Since the coup attempt, about 80,000 people have been held pending trial and some 150,000 civil servants, military personnel and others sacked or suspended.

...one of the many jihadi groups who attached themselves to the Turkish effort in Syria...
who were handed over to the military police were returned to al-Hamzat Division to be imprisoned there, a human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... source familiar with the situation in northern Syria’s Afrin said.
Ibrahim Sheikho, front man for the Human Rights Organization in Afrin Syria, told North Press that the military police of the gangs have returned the detainees in Afrin to al-Hamzat Division, and they are now inside its prison in the village of Basouta.
Sheikho indicated that when the women’s relatives visited them in prison, members of the Division demanded a ransom ranging between 200,000 and 500,000 Syrian pounds in exchange for the release of each of them.
The women appeared for the first time after being kidnapped by al-Hamzat in a leaked video on social media, after the opposition’s armed families attacked the al-Hamzat Division headquarters during confrontations between the gangs, which killed a number of civilians and sparked anger among the population.
In late May, the Afrin region witnessed a "massive demonstration" of gangs’ families from the Ghouta area of Damascus countryside, calling for the military headquarters of the Ottoman Turkish-backed gangs to be removed from residential neighborhoods, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
In a statement following the incident, the Autonomous Administration held the Ottoman Turkish government responsible for what happened to these women, and it appealed to all human rights organizations and international decision makers to conduct an international investigation and hold those responsible for these violations accountable.

[NPASYRIA] A landmine went kaboom! near a Russian armored vehicle near the border gate in the village of Marj Ismail eight km east of Kobani city, injuring a number of Russian soldiers and burning about 50 hectares of agricultural land in the surrounding area on Tuesday.
The Russian armored vehicle came to the border gate to coordinate with Ottoman Turkish forces to conduct a joint patrol in the region and the number of injured is still unknown, local sources reported to North Press.
"The mine explosion caused the burning of about 50 hectares of wheat crop in the villages of Marj Ismail, Kazkan, and Kikan, east of Kobani," Izzat Assaf, a member of the fire station in Kobani, told North Press.
After Ankara's long-threatened military incursion into northeast Syria to confront the Kurdish elements of the SDF in October, a ceasefire deal was first reached between the US and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... on Oct. 17 and then another one between Russia and Turkey on Oct. 22.
The Russian-Ottoman Turkish deal involves the SDF withdrawing its forces up to 30 kilometers from the Ottoman Turkish-Syrian border.
This deal also outlines joint Ottoman Turkish-Russian patrols in a 10-kilometer-wide strip of land along the border that began on Nov. 1. Since then, the two sides have carried out dozens of such operations. The first of these took place on Nov. 1 on the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border between the towns of Derbasiya and Amude.
The Russian forces conduct joint patrols with Ottoman Turkish forces from time to time in the Kobani countryside. The last joint patrol took place on the 28th of last month.

Next up in the stable of recent U.S. corporations to bend over for BLM is venerable bike company Trek. I give them ten hours from now until they're attacked by SJW's and tap out.
[Cycling News] - Trek has issued a statement on its "commitment to a better future" after its bicycles were used as weapons by US police officers against protesters during the Black Lives Matter marches across the US. Trek is one of a number of suppliers of bikes to police forces in the US.
Various images and videos of police officers using their bikes as weapons and shields — seemingly having been trained to use them as such — have appeared online and in the media over the past week and a half.
Trek has been under pressure to react to the use of their police bikes. Cyclingnews understands that members of their own Advocates programme have called for action and support for the Black Lives Matter movement.
In a statement published on Cyclingtips but not on their website with their list of initiatives, Trek said it had seen the photos and video of Trek bikes being "used by police in ways that are abhorrent and vastly different from their intended use".
Chainsaws can be used in ways that are abhorrent and vastly different from their intended use, too.

I suspect Trek has an entire public/govt sales division that bundles up the bikes with training packages (hint - the real money is in the training).

Pretty soon they’ll stop selling police cars to the police.

I've used my bike as a shield between me and an attacking animal, despite my utter lack of police training. It's not rocket science, although I would expect they talk about it in cop school.
