[Regnum] The Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic sentenced 24-year-old commander of the National Guard of Ukraine Yuri Shevchuk to 24 years in prison for the murder of a civilian in Mariupol. This was reported by the press service of the prosecutor's office of the Donetsk People's Republic.
“He was found guilty under paragraphs. “g”, “l” part 2 tbsp. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder committed by an organized group, motivated by political, ideological hatred), Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (cruel treatment of civilians in occupied territory),” the department’s press service said.
According to the investigation, on March 14, 2022, Shevchuk, together with a serviceman, shot a civilian with a machine gun in the building of one of the stores in Mariupol. His colleague then stabbed the victim in the neck with a knife. As a result, the man died on the spot.
It is noted that Shevchuk was sentenced to 24 years in prison to be served in a maximum security penal colony. In relation to his colleague, the criminal case has been separated into separate proceedings.
As Regnum reported, in May, four Ukrainian soldiers were sentenced to life imprisonment in the DPR. According to the investigation, in the spring of 2022, three fighters, following the order of the fourth defendant, shot three men walking near the combat positions with machine guns. Everything happened on the territory of the Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich. As a result of his injuries, one man died, two managed to escape. They were all civilians.

After the arrival of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reserves near Volchansk, their active mopping up began. The main problem for the Ukrainian Armed Forces was the transfer of heavy equipment - and above all tanks. Judging by the modifications and condition of the machines, almost all of them are after repairs or long-term storage, which indirectly indicates that the remains of available reserves are being raked out.
At the same time, the activity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ equipment on the southern approaches to Volchansk is almost immediately stopped by the artillery and aviation of the “North” group: the main attempts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to accumulate forces and act concentratedly in the last 72 hours were recorded in the area of Vilcha, Liman, Simonovka and the Zemlyanoy Yar ravine.
In the city itself, behind the RF Armed Forces there is the north, part of the east and the western part, with the exception of the fortified area near the aggregate plant. The nature of the fighting does not change, but the artillery fire begins to intensify.
East of Volchansk, the activity of Ukrainian Armed Forces units was also recorded, but the Ukrainian army was unable to accumulate large forces and prevent the activity of the “northern” after attacks on reserves south of Volchanskiye Khutors, after which it fell back to regrouping and replenishing losses near Belyi Kolodez.

The President believes that next month the enemy could use 3,500 guided bombs, and no country has such a number of missiles to shoot down these bombs. “We need at least seven Patriot systems. Khar'kov alone needs at least two systems. And Russian planes will not be able to fly to such a distance to use these aerial bombs,” Zelensky emphasized.

We should not have NATO troops on the ground or equipment in the skies of Ukraine." At the same time, analysts indicate that even limited Russian offensive operations in these areas would create pressure that would stretch Ukrainian forces along a broader front and perhaps allow Russian forces to establish tactical footholds to support further operations either northwest of Khar'kov or in the direction of Sumy.
10:12 Spain will transfer Patriot missiles and Leopard tanks to Ukraine by the end of June as part of an aid package worth 1.1 billion euros, El País writes, citing sources. [Korrespondent] Defense forces blamed for loss of territory.
The SBI stated that they are establishing the circumstances of the Russian occupiers breaking through the border in the Khar'kov region.
The Russian offensive in the Khar'kov region has become the subject of investigation. The SBI officers established the minute-by-minute development of events, and in total the names of 28 servicemen appear in the case (commander of the operational-tactical group, brigade commander, battalion commanders, company commanders, head of the intelligence department of the headquarters). This case may become the most high-profile investigation against the military leadership of Ukraine since the full-scale invasion.
CHECKING READINESS
“Given the resonance of the proceedings, the best investigators and the leadership of the Main Investigation Department of the State Bureau of Investigation have been involved in the investigation, and there is close interaction with the operational units of the SBU. And also - full communication and support from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, OTG Khar'kov and OSGV Khortytsia,” the message says.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement officers are checking the level of support and staffing of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the construction of fortifications, interaction between military units, etc. They are also checking the actions of the leadership of all levels in the region during the enemy’s offensive actions, before and after them, and are investigating possible facts of groundless withdrawal from combat positions by units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Preliminary qualification of criminal proceedings is unauthorized abandonment of the field and negligent attitude towards military service (Article 429, Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
OCCUPATION OF VILLAGES
According to the analytical resource DeepState, as of May 27, 10 border settlements fell under occupation due to the offensive in the Kharkiv region: Strelka, Krasnoe, Pylnaya, Borisovka, Morokhovets, Oleynikovo, Glubokoe, Lukyantsy, Pletenevka, Ogurtsovoye Gatishche. The village of Bugrovatka and the city of Volchansk were partially captured.
According to the investigation, the command of the 125th brigade and its subordinate units, including the 415th separate rifle battalion, 23 mechanized brigade, 172 separate riflemen, allegedly did not properly organize the defense of positions on the border of the Khar'kov region and the Russian Federation, which led to the loss of military equipment and personal composition of the unit.
In the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, they stated in response that they were ready for the offensive and no one was retreating from their positions.
“Whether from ignorance of the situation, or from a desire to cause harm, individual residents of social networks are spreading completely false information about the unpreparedness of the Defense Forces for an enemy offensive, or even worse, about the retreat of individual units from the defense lines entrusted to them,” said the commander of the 125th brigade, Lieutenant General Arthur Gorbenko.
By the time of the Russian attack, the brigade commander assured that the situation in his brigade’s defense zone was complex, but controllable.
The settlements into which the enemy has entered are located in a permanent “gray zone,” and therefore the enemy’s success is quite conditional and costs him huge losses in equipment and manpower,” Gorbenko added.
THE DANGER OF INVESTIGATION
Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko notes that for the first time during the full-scale invasion, the public was informed about such a major investigation.
“When such information, in particular by the media, is dispersed, many people automatically immediately get the stigma in their heads that the military is to blame. If an investigation is carried out, then they are to blame for losing the territories. Is it necessary to do this? In my opinion, publicly - no, it can also look like discredit.
And now many military personnel who carry out their tasks understand that the machine is now starting to act against them. This is quite a serious story. Perhaps they are to blame, but this should be an investigation, which should be objective, about which there should not be much publicity. If there are culprits there, these culprits need to be held accountable,” Kostenko describes the risks.
The people's deputy believes that it is necessary to figure out what forces and means the 125th brigade had at its disposal. According to him, “a battalion that was supposed to hold five kilometers, for example, held 15 kilometers.”
“There are many questions, they had no artillery at all... There are questions about the mining of the territory with anti-personnel mines. Everything there was not completely mined. The question is whether there were resources. We haven't had mines since we signed the anti-personnel mine ban convention, and we're destroying them all. We simply don’t physically have them. Question: have our partners given us enough mines so that we can sew up all three thousand kilometers of the border with the Russian Federation? There must be millions of mines. If not, then what will they put there for you? And this should be sorted out. And we immediately said with our statements that “the military is to blame,” Kostenko emphasized.
In his opinion, commanders should be responsible for their decisions, but he is against public accusations of commanders.

[Regnum] Two colonels of the state security department of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, were preparing an assassination attempt on the head of intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov (an individual included in the Russian Federation in the list of terrorists and extremists), the British newspaper The Times reported on May 26, citing an unnamed high-ranking Ukrainian counterintelligence officer.
According to journalists, security officers planned to inform the Russian military of the coordinates of the motorcade in which Budanov was traveling so that a missile attack could be carried out on it. The attack was supposedly supposed to be detected by drones and dropped ammunition to kill the survivors. It is reported that the operation was planned for early May.
Those accused of the attempt on the life of the head of the GUR were detained. Allegedly, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) intercepted the colonels’ negotiations. The publication reported that they were Andrey Guk and Alexander Derkach, they were followed for several months.
As Regnum reported, in early May the SBU announced the detention of Guk and Derkach. They were accused of preparing an assassination attempt on Zelensky. During a search of Hooke's house, weapons and explosive devices were found. The department also stated that three more defendants are involved in the case.
In November 2023, political scientist Yuri Svetov, in a conversation with IA Regnum, said that in Ukraine there are signs of a clan struggle for power in order to attribute all failures in governing the country to the overthrown leadership. He noted that such changes cannot take place without the participation of the Ukrainian special services. The expert did not rule out that the West also plans to rotate the leadership of the Kyiv regime.

[Regnum] NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg does not have the right to make statements on behalf of all members of the alliance on an issue that has not been submitted for general discussion. This was stated on May 27 by the head of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, commenting on the words of the NATO Secretary General about attacks on Russia by Western weapons.
“I doubt that the Secretary General can take on such responsibility and speak on behalf of the members of the bloc when this topic was not discussed with them within NATO,” Izvestia quotes the minister.
Lavrov recalled that some members of the bloc have already expressed disagreement with the statement of the NATO Secretary General. Thus, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called on Stoltenberg to be careful in his statements.
As Regnum reported, on May 27, the NATO Secretary General again proposed allowing Ukraine to fire Western weapons at targets on Russian territory. He said that such strikes in the context of the offensive of Russian troops near Kharkov can be considered as self-defense. He had previously suggested that Western allies consider whether they should lift some restrictions they had placed on the use of weapons transferred to Ukraine.
Stoltenberg's remarks were condemned by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Italy, Matteo Salvini. He said that after such words, Stoltenberg should apologize or leave his post. The Italian minister was outraged by the idea that Ukraine would be allowed to use weapons for defense in battles outside its territory.
On May 26, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz refused to allow Ukraine to fire Western weapons at Russia. According to the politician, from the very beginning of the supply of German weapons to Kyiv, rules for the use of these weapons were developed and agreed upon with Ukraine. Germany provides support to the Kyiv regime, including military support, but does not want the conflict in Ukraine to escalate into a “big war,” the chancellor added.
The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, noted that Russia will not leave encroachments on its territory unanswered. Western countries, by providing long-range missiles and heavy weapons and giving the go-ahead for their use against Russia, contributed to the escalation of the conflict, Zakharova added.
Previously, Lavrov said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are already using weapons provided by the United States and other Western countries to attack civilian targets in Russia outside the conflict zone. He emphasized that in most cases, civilian infrastructure and residential areas are hit.
Thus, on May 24, Russian air defense systems destroyed an anti-radar missile HARM fired by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) over the territory of the Belgorod region. On the same day, the Russian military shot down three American-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles over Crimea on the night of May 24.
Today, NATO is actually directly involved in the conflict and is in direct confrontation with Russia. This was stated on May 27 by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, commenting on statements by Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about Ukrainian Armed Forces striking NATO weapons on Russian territory.
Peskov said that NATO is already in direct confrontation with Russia
“NATO is involved in this conflict, directly involved in the conflict... But our military also knows what to do, they are continuing a special military operation to stop all threats,” he said in an interview with Izvestia.
Peskov noted that the secretary general of the alliance in this case cannot express a personal opinion, since he is in a responsible position.
The Kremlin representative noted that the alliance is thus increasing the degree of escalation, flirting with belligerent rhetoric and falling into “military ecstasy.”
“This is the reality we need to continue to deal with,” he added.
According to Peskov, today NATO is actually already in direct confrontation with Russia.
“They are not getting close, they are in it [the confrontation],” he clarified in response to a corresponding question.
As Regnum reported, earlier on May 27, the NATO Secretary General again proposed allowing Kiev to fire Western weapons at targets on Russian territory. According to Stoltenberg, such actions can allegedly be considered self-defense.
Prior to this, on May 25, the secretary general of the alliance called on Kiev’s Western allies to lift the current restrictions for the Ukrainian Armed Forces on strikes with alliance weapons on Russian territory. At the same time, Stoltenberg admitted that the Russian military will continue the offensive, which is why Kyiv is already experiencing difficulties.
A group of US congressmen from both parties on May 21 called on the Pentagon to “allow” Ukraine to strike Russian territory with American weapons. According to congressmen, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can allegedly carry out such strikes against strategic targets and under certain circumstances.

[Regnum] The Armed Forces of Ukraine will form assault troops from mobilized prisoners, Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Malyuska said on May 27 on the air of a single Ukrainian news telethon.
This is how he answered the question about the branches of the military to which those who were serving their sentences would be sent. Malyuska emphasized that such units will consist exclusively of convicted persons and will not include other military personnel.
In April, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine stated that from the prisoners mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, separate units would be created for digging trenches and building infrastructure.
As Regnum reported, on May 8, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a bill on the mobilization of convicts. The document assumes that the mobilization of convicts is voluntary.
Mobilized prisoners will be released on parole. Those convicted of crimes against the fundamentals of national security, murder, sexual violence, pedophilia and fatal accidents committed under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be subject to voluntary conscription.
On May 10, Denis Malyuska suggested that up to 20 thousand prisoners and people with a criminal record could be drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He noted that each specific case should be considered separately in order to determine whether a particular fighter is useful for the Ukrainian army.
On May 25, The New York Times, citing Malyuska, wrote that 350 prisoners in Ukraine were released from prisons who wanted to receive parole in exchange for participation in mobilization in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

[Regnum] US President Joe Biden said that during World War II, American soldiers saved the world and liberated Europe. "My son Beau never made it back from that beach!"
“Members of the Greatest Generation, in a week it will be 80 years since that day, landed on the beaches of Normandy, liberated the continent and literally saved the world,” he said, speaking at the Arlington Military Cemetery in honor of National Remembrance Day.
According to Biden, at different periods of US history, American soldiers defended independence, defeated fascism, and created strong alliances.
As Regnum reported, in 2023, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, during his speech on the anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, called World War II veterans the saviors of the world, without mentioning the USSR in the list of countries that defeated Nazism.
At the same time, the official representative of the US administration, Karine Jean-Pierre, said that the United States “and allied forces” won the victory over fascism in World War II.
No matter what they say in Washington, the historical truth is that without the victories of the Red Army, the Allied landing on the Normandy coast on June 6, 1944 would have been impossible. Russian senator Alexey Pushkov wrote about this. He recalled that the historical truth is that two-thirds of Hitler's divisions were defeated by the Red Army on the eastern front, and not on the western.
On May 8, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the leaders of the CIS countries, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, as well as the people of Georgia and Moldova, on the upcoming Victory Day. The head of state emphasized the need to stop attempts to distort common history. On Victory Day, we should pay tribute to deep gratitude and respect to those who fought courageously at the front during the war and selflessly worked in the rear, bringing Victory closer, the president noted. Putin expressed confidence that the bonds of fraternal friendship, forged during the Great Patriotic War, will remain a reliable basis for the development of relations between countries and peoples.

The Soviets were a huge help by providing bodies while the West provided tons of aid/supplies/weapons to bleed the Axis dry on the eastern front. It cost them a shit-ton of men that you can see in the demographic data. Russia should have over 250 million instead of the 145 million it currently has. All those young men not humping and making babies has really added up in compound interest.

Before the Soviet Union was a huge help to the Allies, it was a huge help to the Nazis, allowing the Nazis to concentrate elsewhere without having to man an eastern front. They created their own consequences.

Russians were suckered by Molotov-Ribbentrop, and they were suckered by the Minsk Agreements. In between were broken promises by the West to move NATO east.
