[Jpost] A Pittsburgh man was arrested on Thursday for possession of explosive materials and graffiti of a Squirrel Hill synagogue, the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh said on Friday.
William Murray, 33, is facing 34 charges for possession of "explosive or incendiary materials, causing or risking catastrophe, and multiple counts of making or possessing prohibited weapons,” according to the Federation.
The suspect had been set to appear in court on May 14 after he had been charged for ethnic intimidation, institutional vandalism, and criminal mischief for inscribing a hate symbol on the Shaare Torah Synagogue on April 8, but according to the Jewish organization he had failed to attend the hearing.
The synagogue had reported to the Pittsburgh police that Murray had inscribed what was initially thought to be a star of David, but police said on April 12 that "upon further examination and additional photographs, it closely resembled a hate symbol used by the KKK [Ku Klux Klan]."
The Federation said that they did not believe Murray "poses a threat to our community," at this time.
The greater Pittsburgh area is suffering an uptick in antisemitic graffiti, according to the Federation. It logged 128 incidents in 2024, while during the same period in 2023 there were only 44 incidents.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Over 2 dozen employees at the Wing Luke Museum in Seattle walked off the job Wednesday following the opening of the museum’s "Confronting Hate Together," about racism faced by the Asian, black, and Jewish communities. The museum has been closed since the walkout of half the staff.
The exhibit, originally scheduled to run through June 30, compares racism and hate faced by the Asian, black, and Jewish communities historically and in Seattle and was a project in the making for over a year. The Wing Luke Museum, the Black Heritage Society of Washington State and the Washington State Jewish Historical Society had all been working together to plan and launch the exhibit.
It was based on the New York Historical Society’s 2022 exhibit "Confronting Hate" and augmented based on rising hate crimes in Washington and was in the works well before Hamas ..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,... ’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
The boycott focused on a panel in the exhibit which showed the Herzl Ner Tamid Synagogue on Mercer Island after it had been vandalized by anti-Israel activists. The panel from the Jewish Historical Society read, "Today, antisemitism is often disguised as anti-Zionism."
The panel noted how the phrase which was spray painted on the synagogue, "Stop the killing," was in spririt to the idea that "the Jews of Mercer Island could control the actions of the Israeli government."
The panel also stated, "On university campuses, pro-Paleostinian groups have voiced support for Hamas (which is classified as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government) and a Paleostinian state stretching ’from the river to the sea,’ a phrase defined by the erasure of Israel."
The anti-Israel activists posted their demands to a recently created Instagram account called wlm4palestine on Thursday. They have demanded that the museum remove any language that attempts to frame "anti-Zionism as antisemitism." They also insist on a "community review" of the exhibit, for the museum to "acknowledge the limited perspectives presented in this exhibition," and focus on "voices that align with the museum’s mission & values," meaning those of the Paleostinian, Moslem and Arab communities.

Liberals want to, and do well at, controlling language. Arabs are semites to. They will redefine this term. Antisemitism will be confused between Arabs and Jews then shift to Arabs.

It’s already started, Jefe101. That’s why non-antisemites are moving to the straightforward Jew-hate for antisemitism. Just as well — antisemitism was intended in the last decades of the 19th century to camouflage old-fashioned Judenhass with a Latin term intended to market the attitude as something modern and scientific.
[Washington Examiner] When two veteran organizations get together to do something helpful, it is bound to be purposeful and successful. That is exactly what is happening between the founders of Black Rifle Coffee and HunterSeven, who have joined forces to support and fund life-saving research for veterans who were exposed to toxic chemicals during their military service.
While they both approach their post-military posts very differently, their mission together makes sense.
Founded in 2014 by former U.S. Army Green Beret Evan Hafer and former U.S. Army Ranger Mat Best, Black Rifle Coffee Company was built upon a mission to serve coffee and culture to people who hold the love of country dear. Known for their unapologetic, in-your-face advertising, cheeky Instagram posts, and, most importantly, premier coffee, they have made their mark by all three driven by a mission that supports veterans, active-duty military, and first responders.
HunterSeven is less in your face.
The foundation, co-founded by Chelsey Simoni, a public health nurse and former member of the Rhode Island Army National Guard, researches military exposures and the impact they have on the health of the veterans who have been exposed to deadly chemicals.
“The foundation is named for the call sign of Sgt. Maj. Rob Bowman, who died after being exposed to toxic burn pits in Iraq,” she explained.
“I was seeing, over and over again, this pattern of otherwise very healthy veterans returning from deployment developing leukemia, cancer, and these chronic lung conditions, and I knew something wasn’t right,” said Simoni, who said that was research she was doing as part of her undergraduate work.
That research led her to review the health impact of burn pits in Iraq.
The results were startling. “Two weeks of research with over a hundred Iraq War veterans participating confirmed my theory there was a profound increase in these respiratory systems after they returned from deployment,” Simoni explained.
That led her to a new mission: getting veterans across the country tested so they could be treated before the problems progressed beyond help. Her challenge was that it was expensive, the Department of Veterans Affairs was slow-moving, and she needed money and a megaphone to help the nonprofit group complete its mission to provide post-9/11 veterans with information on the long- and short-term consequences of these exposures.
Chris Mondzelewski, the CEO of Black Rifle Coffee, said the partnership between the two organizations began in earnest last November ahead of Veterans Day when Black Rifle Coffee, along with the UFC, joined to raise money for HunterSeven. “Our Veterans Day event with the UFC and HunterSeven Foundation raised over $250,000 in one weekend for veterans battling cancer, and that is just the beginning,” Mondzelewski said.
Simoni said the numbers were staggering of her fellow warriors who were diagnosed with cancer during and after 9/11.
“It is over a half a million,” she said, growing quiet. “One in 7 or more than a half a million of fellow service members.”
[SUDANTRIBUNE] A campaign dedicated to combating rape and sexual violence in Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... , "Together Against Rape and Sexual Violence," has documented 377 cases of rape since the onset of the conflict in April 2023, including 131 cases involving maiden of tender yearss.
The campaign’s latest report details the harrowing reality of sexual violence in the country, with 99 cases documented in North Darfur, 89 in Al Jazirah, 56 in Central Darfur, 55 in Khartoum, and 22 in al-Obeid. The remaining cases are spread across other regions.
The report underscores the underreporting of such crimes due to communication disruptions, the conservative nature of Sudanese society, and the stigma associated with sexual violence. Najla Mohammed, a member of the campaign, expressed deep concern over the rising number of child rape cases and the devastating psychological and physical consequences they endure.
Survivors face immense challenges in seeking justice and reporting these crimes due to social stigma, a fragile judicial system, inadequate protection programs, and a lack of legal, psychological, and medical support.
In Al Jazirah state, the SIHA network of women in the Horn of Africa has revealed a surge in violations and crimes against civilians, particularly women and girls, perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Their report details accounts of killings, torture, systematic looting, and sexual violence, including rape and gang rape. The RSF has also been accused of invading homes and extorting families for money and gold.

[SHABELLEMEDIA] Jubbaland Security Minister General Yusuf Hussein Osman (Dhumal) has expressed his concern regarding the security situation of the administration in the event of the withdrawal of the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) forces operating in Jubbaland.
During his tour of parts of the Gedo region, Dhumal emphasized the importance of having adequate security forces to replace ATMIS and ensure the safety of the region.
"We are currently making plans to replace ATMIS, and we need the support of the people and the central government to cooperate with us in the fight against al-Shabaab ... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... in the Jubbaland areas," said Dhumal. The minister’s statement comes at a critical time as the Kenyan and Æthiopian forces, which are currently operating specifically in the Juba and Gedo regions, have transferred their bases in those regions as part of the plan to withdraw ATMIS forces by the end of 2024.
The withdrawal of ATMIS forces presents a significant challenge to the security of Jubbaland, as the region has been a hotbed of conflict and instability due to the presence of al-Shabaab krazed killers.
The success of the plan to replace ATMIS with sufficient security forces is crucial in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Dhumal’s call for cooperation from the people and the central government highlights the importance of a united front in the fight against terrorism.
The support of the local population and the central government is essential in ensuring the effectiveness of the security forces in combating al-Shabaab and maintaining peace in the region.
In conclusion, the Jubbaland Security Minister’s concerns over the security situation in the event of the withdrawal of ATMIS forces are well-founded.

[SHABELLEMEDIA] Kenyan President William Ruto has expressed grave concerns over the potential consequences of the African Union ...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful... Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) forces withdrawing from the country.
In a recent statement, President Ruto warned that the al-Shabaab ... the personification of Somali state failure... , an al-Qaeda-linked group could seize control of the entire Somalia if African Union forces leave by Dec. 2024.
Ruto revealed that Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud had discussed the matter with him, but they were unable to reach a consensus on the withdrawal of ATMIS forces.
The Kenyan President has now called upon the United States to intervene and prevent the withdrawal, citing the dire security implications for the region.
The al-Shabaab group, an affiliate of al-Qaeda, has been a persistent threat in Somalia and the surrounding areas. The ATMIS forces, comprised of troops from various African nations, have played a crucial role in combating the group and maintaining stability in the region.

...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start... may be dependent on Israel’s willingness to accept Paleostinian statehood as a long-term goal and embark on some pathway to get there, a move that Prime Minister Netanyahu has resisted.
But this has not stopped the US from trying to advance the initiative. It was a top agenda item during a recent meeting between US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince and modernizer of Saudi Arabia as of 2016. The Turks hate him, so he must be all right, despite the occasional brutal murder of Qatar-owned journalists... Some Biden officials have suggested that the US is running out of time to secure a deal before the 2024 presidential election and that the administration is nearing a point where it will simply choose to publicly present the diplomatic initiative and force Netanyahu to make a decision.
An agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia was widely expected last year, until the Paleostinian terror group Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... attacked Israel on October 7, triggering a war between Israel and Hamas that is still ongoing.

[Al Jazeera] Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin-Farhan has said after meetings with Arab and European counterparts in Brussels that it is very concerning that Israel does not recognise that the security it seeks comes through a two-state solution.
No, it does not. And the only reason the Saudis are saying so is because the Biden administration wants so desperately to hear it.
"It is absolutely necessary that Israel accepts that it cannot exist without the existence of a Paleostinian state," the top Saudi diplomat told news hounds.
"That its security is served by building a Paleostinian state. So we hope sincerely that the leaders of Israel will realise that it is in their interest to work with the international community, not just to strengthen the Paleostinian Authority but to establish a Paleostinian state along the 1967 borders."
Catch up with the present, dude. The 1967 borders are sooooo pre-Trump.

[Regnum] Muslims responded to a statement by the Mufti of Moscow Ildar Alyautdinov, who supported wearing the niqab in Russia. In an article on the Islam portal. news author Aidar Bariev pointed out that the niqab has nothing to do with religion, but makes it difficult to identify a person, which is necessary to ensure public safety.
Earlier, Alyautdinov said that the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (DUM) of Russia is ready to support the ban on wearing the niqab if the connection of this item of women's clothing with extremism is proven.
“The niqab has nothing to do with the religion of Islam at all and therefore is outside the framework of Sharia. This is simply a folk custom in a number of southern countries. Moreover, among nomadic peoples in the desert, men also use the niqab to protect themselves from fine sand - the Tuaregs, for example. This custom in itself does not contradict Islamic ethics; it is neutral,” the material says.
It is noted that the niqab can be used for good or harm - it depends on the environment, practical aspects of life and goals. The article recalled that today all over the world, and in Muslim countries too, the public security system is based on the need to identify a person’s identity - this is the only way to prevent a terrorist from getting on a plane, a train, a concert hall, a supermarket, where a terrorist attack causes huge casualties and suffering.
“There is no desert in central Russia, hot sand doesn’t fly into anyone’s face: why cover your face tightly, not making it possible to establish the identity of a person going to crowded places? Law enforcement agencies will stop a Muslim woman wearing a niqab at every step, and she will still need to show her face in order to compare it with her passport photo,” the comment says.
Earlier, the head of the Human Rights Council under the President of Russia, Valery Fadeev, proposed banning in Russia the wearing of the niqab, a traditional Muslim women's headdress that leaves only the eyes open. Fadeev explained that this forced measure is designed to reduce the risks of extremism.
In October, a Regnum news agency source reported that investigators decided to check a woman from a rally in support of Palestine in Moscow, who compared those gathered to “infidels.” An unknown woman, dressed in a niqab, expressed dissatisfaction that other participants came “half naked and half naked.” They tried to calm the woman down, but to no avail. According to investigators, she committed public actions aimed at inciting hostility, as well as humiliating the dignity of a group of people based on their attitude to religion.
In March, the rector of the St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, held a memorial service in his church for those killed in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall. He noted that he perceives the tragedy at Crocus City Hall with particular pain, since he is a resident of Moscow and his house is located next to the site of the terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk. In 2000, he survived a terrorist attack in an underground passage at the Pushkinskaya metro station.

[Regnum] The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, must answer the question of why Britain bombed Iraq and when the ICC will hold them accountable for these actions. Thus, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on Khan’s statement that London did not bomb Northern Ireland in response to the terrorist attack of the Irish Republican Army (IRA).
Earlier, Khan, commenting on criticism from the United States and Israel for officially requesting an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, pointed out that Great Britain did not bomb Northern Ireland after a series of IRA terrorist attacks, while Israel did The response to the Hamas attack on October 7 is guided by the principle of collective responsibility towards the people of the Gaza Strip.
“He only has to answer the question why the British started bombing Iraq and when the ICC will punish them for this,” Zakharova noted in the Telegram channel.
As Regnum reported, on May 20, Khan presented grounds for the arrest of Netanyahu, the head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense Yoav Galant, as well as Yahya Sinwar on charges of war crimes. According to the prosecutor, Netanyahu, Galant, Sinwar, as well as the commander of the military wing of the Al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Al-Deif, and the head of the Hamas politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, are responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed since October 2023.
Washington does not consider what is happening in the Gaza Strip to be genocide and rejects the accusations of the ICC chief prosecutor against the leadership of the Jewish state, said US President Joe Biden. The White House administration, he said, is helping Israel in identifying the leader of the Palestinian radical Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, Yahya Sinwar.
The American authorities deny the legitimacy of the ICC and intimidate this structure with sanctions when it comes to the interests of Washington itself and its allies, stated Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov.
In turn, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov noted on May 21 that the position of the United States on possible measures against the ICC because of its possible decision to arrest Netanyahu is “more than curious.” Peskov also recalled that Russia is not a party to the relevant statute and does not recognize the jurisdiction of this court.

"London did not bomb Northern Ireland in response to the terrorist attack of the Irish Republican Army (IRA)." That's funny as North Ireland was under UK control, the IRA was funded by Ireland and idiots in Boston.
Is Zakharova historically illiterate or making some point I'm missing?

According to the IDF, a total of 1,806 pallets of food were brought into Gaza via the pier this week, and were transferred in 127 trucks to logistics centers belonging to international aid organizations in the Strip.
The pier began operating last week for the first time. Over the weekend, two US vessels involved in the pier project ran aground near Ashdod.
In contrast, a total of 2,065 trucks carrying humanitarian aid were inspected by Israeli authorities and transferred to Gaza via the Kerem Shalom and "Erez West" crossings this week, which the IDF says is "almost twice the number in the previous week."
The IDF says the aid trucks included "232 trucks containing flour for the World Food Program (WFP) organization to supply bakeries in the Gaza Strip, 132 aid trucks from Jordan, and 352,000 liters of diesel and fuel to supply essential centers, hospitals and shelters run by the international community in Gaza."

[IsraelTimes] Military says soldier, who recorded himself saying troops would not obey orders to hand off control of Gaza, being probed for incitement to mutiny and not following orders
An Israel Defense Forces reservist who called for mutiny in a video shared on social media over the weekend has been dismissed from reserve duty, following his interrogation on Sunday by the Military Police.
The interrogation was part of an investigation into the soldier on suspicion of mutiny, incitement to mutiny, not following orders, and other offenses, the military said.
At the end of the investigation, findings will be presented to the Military Advocate General for review, the IDF said.
Hebrew media reported that the video was in fact filmed in Israel. Images posted to the soldier’s Facebook page indicate that he did serve in Gazoo

Graffitied on the wall behind the soldier is the name "Kahane," potentially a reference to the far-right Jewish turban Meir Kahane, who called for the expulsion of Arabs from Israel. Kahane’s party was banned from the Knesset and designated a terrorist organization by the Israeli government.
"We reservist soldiers do not intend to hand the keys [to Gaza] over to any Paleostinian authority," the soldier says in the video. "We do not intend to give the keys to Gaza to any entity — Hamas ..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,... , Fatah, or any other Arab entity. Reservist soldiers are behind you and we want to win."
According to Channel 12 news, the reservist in question had had multiple run-ins with the law in the past, and it was not clear why they had not raised red flags ahead of his reservist duty.
News of the reservist’s dismissal came a day after the IDF announced it was opening a criminal probe into the video, saying in response to a query on the matter: "The behavior in the video is a serious violation of IDF orders and IDF values."
