[JustTheNews] U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel encountered an "inoperable destructive device" in an Arizona border town while inspecting vehicles, a CBP statement reveals.
"On May 6, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers assigned to the Area Port of Douglas, Arizona conducting secondary vehicle inspections encountered an inoperable destructive device," a CBP spokesperson confirmed to Just the News.
"Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) was contacted to inspect the device. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) was contacted and responded to the port to interview the subject," the CBP statement continued. "A complete search of the vehicle was conducted after AZDPS had removed the destructive device with no additional items located. Please contact HSI and AZDPS for additional information. "
NewsNation journalist Ali Bradley first shared the CBP statement on Twitter along with photos of the IED, saying it was "made using an M&M container with electrical tape. Blue and red wires were exposed at the end of the container."
Does inoperable mean it never would have worked or that it was too badly damaged to work?
The identity of the device's possessor remains unknown as of press time.
News of the device comes amid fears of a migration surge at the southern border with the end of the Title 42 order that authorities had used to swiftly deport migrants should they hail from countries known to host a communicable disease.

Means it does not operate. Possibly fake explosive to instill fear when seen but does not actually operate. Fake.

Wonder if the recent increase of such EOD incidents, is the reason so many US Metro area 1st responders are being trained in NBC- EOD device handling?

Ruse to waste time and resources. Why carry a bomb across the border? We have Lowe’s.

Alternatively, a test of the inspection capabilities of the Douglas Port of Entry and the manpower dedication from on-duty staff for EOD ops. If you are running significant loads of contraband through the POE's for interior US destinations, often the border inspection is the only likely detection opportunity. So, you surge one or two devices to tie up existing capability and then move the other load(s) though while the technical inspection capability is being used for your decoy. A comon tactic at the Otay Mesa POE even in the 90's.
[PUBLISH.TWITTER] The General Overseer of the Seraphic and Sabbath Assembly, Lagos State, Priest Azuka Kenrick Nnodu and two others have been convicted by the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos for drugs offences.
The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, had in February arrested Azuka Kenrick.
He was arrested along with a student of Emmanuel College of Theology, Samanda, Ibadan, Udezuka Udoka and their freight agent, Oyoyo Mary Obasi over attempt to export methamphetamine and skunk consignments concealed in kegs of palm oil through the NAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The trio were arraigned by the NDLEA for conspiracy, procurement of persons to unlawfully export, unlawful export of 14.90 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa and 204 grams of Methamphetamine and unlawful possession of the hard drugs.
However, nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... Justice Akintayo Aluko on Friday convicted Nnodu (58) and his two co-defendants Udezuka Udoka (26) and Oyoyo Mary Obasi (40), following their "guilty" plea to a six-count charge.
Abu Ibrahim, the prosecution counsel alleged that they committed the offences with one Chisom, now on the lam, on February 9, 2023.
The defendants were arrested with the drugs at the NAHCO Export Shed, a Customs Point of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos, Ibrahim told the court.
The court heard that the offences contravened sections 14(b); 21(2)(d) and 20(1)(a) of the NDLEA Act, 2004, and were punishable under Sections 11(b) and 20(2(a) of the same Act.
All the defendants pleaded guilty.
Ibrahim reviewed the fact of the case and urged the court to convict and sentence the defendants in accordance with the NDLEA Act, Following their plea.
But the defendants’ counsel Chief Benson Ndakara expressed shock at the defendants’ guilty plea, saying he was "taken by surprise at their change of mind, after dissipating extra energy and time to prepare and file their various bail applications."
Ndakara pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing the defendants, on the ground that they were first-time offenders without any record of previous conviction.
Justice Aluko who convicted the trio, but reserved judgment till an undisclosed date, remanded the defendants in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCoS), pending judgment.

[Shafaq News/ On Friday, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the candidate for the Ottoman Turkish presidency, made several promises that he intends to implement if elected. These promises include visa-free entry for Ottoman Turkish citizens into the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... , attracting investments worth $300 billion, and repatriating Syrian and Afghan refugees to their countries of origin. In addition, Kilicdaroglu has communicated with the public through daily video messages.
The opposition coalition supporting Kilicdaroglu has announced that over 561,000 opposition employees and volunteers will monitor the elections to ensure transparency. Kilicdaroglu expressed mistrust toward the state-run Anadolu News Agency, which traditionally publishes election results, and stated that their observers would scrutinize the final documents for accuracy.
President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important... has criticized Kilicdaroglu's promise of attracting $300 billion in investments, citing The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... 's independence from the International Monetary Fund since 2013.
Kilicdaroglu also pledged to unite with Iraq, Iran, and Syria to combat terrorism and emphasized Turkey's regional dominance and its goal of becoming the most powerful country in the Mediterranean basin.
Kilicdaroglu aims to ensure the continuation of the grain deal, resolve the conflict in Ukraine, and adhere to the Montreux Convention if elected. He emphasized the importance of maintaining healthy relations with Russia for Turkey's interests.
Although Kilicdaroglu denied making statements about imposing new sanctions on Russia, two tweets appeared on his official page urging Russia to keep its hands off the Ottoman Turkish state, with the origin of these tweets remaining unknown.
Moscow has stated that it respects the will of Ottoman Turkish citizens in the upcoming elections and does not intend to interfere in the electoral process. Kilicdaroglu pledged to be the president of all Ottoman Turkish citizens and proposed ruling jointly with seven vice presidents based on reason and knowledge.
He also promised to repatriate Syrian and Afghan refugees within a maximum of two years and to resume negotiations on Turkey's accession to the European Union, aiming to allow Ottoman Turkish citizens to travel to the EU without visas within three months.

[IsraelTimes] Leaders cancel demonstrations, including in Tel Aviv, due to concerns of possible rocket attacks, but face pushback from various activists.
Organizers of weekly protests against the government and its judicial overhaul plans said Saturday’s demonstrations were canceled due to the fighting between Israel and Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... terrorists. But some activists objected and vowed to rally anyway.
"Our foremost concern is the safety of our people who are defending democracy," organizers said in a Friday statement announcing the cancellation of the main protest event on Kaplan Street in Tel Aviv.
Organizers said they’d been in touch with police and security officials about safety concerns.
"Out of responsibility for the safety [of protesters], we have decided to put off the demonstration. We continue to keep our fingers on the pulse. If we see the government is advancing changes tied to the regime coup, we will come out to the streets in full force," they said.
During the past several days of fighting between Israel and Gaza terrorists, some rockets have reached the center of the country, setting off sirens in Tel Aviv.
"Bringing 100,000 people to Kaplan at a time when there could be a rocket siren is dangerous," one of the organizers told Ynet.
Anti-government protesters have gathered in Tel Aviv every Saturday night for the past 18 weeks, since the government announced its plan to overhaul the judiciary. Though the plan is now paused as the coalition and opposition hold negotiations for a potential compromise reform plan, many in the coalition have warned they could push forward with the effort to curb the courts, and weekly rallies have continued.
Many protests across the country were canceled, but in Tel Aviv, some protesters said they’d show up on Kaplan Street anyway, and elsewhere local organizers rejected the decision, saying it did not represent their views.
The Israel Defense Forces said Friday afternoon that as of 4 p.m., Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip had launched 937 rockets and mortars at Israel since the beginning of Operation Shield and Arrow on Tuesday.
It said 761 of the projectiles crossed the border, while 181 fell short in Gaza. Air defense systems intercepted 296 of the rockets, marking a 91% interception rate of projectiles heading for populated areas. Several landed within towns, killing one and injuring several others, as well as causing damage.
The military says it has carried out strikes against 254 sites belonging to Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... International mediators have been working toward a ceasefire between the sides.

[AlAhram] The US Justice Department announced Thursday it had seized 13 web domains controlled by Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... 's Hezbollah, saying they were operated by sanctioned individuals and groups but using US internet registries.
The domains blocked included the personal site of Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Naim Qassem ... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies... , the main site of the Islamic Resistance® Support Association, Hezbollah's fundraising arm, and sites controlled by Hezbollah's al-Manar TV.
Visitors to the domains now see a large one-page statement in English and Arabic that reads, "This website has been seized," with the logos of the US FBI and Department of Commerce.
The Justice Department said the sites were registered with two US-based groups, Public Internet Registry and Verisign Inc.
"Today's web domain seizures deny terrorist organizations and affiliates significant sources of support and makes clear we will not allow these groups to use US infrastructure to threaten the American people," Assistant Attorney General Matthew Olsen said in a statement.
The US designated Hezbollah, a major political and paramilitary group in Lebanon, a "foreign terrorist organization" in 1997.

The deeper ramifications also worry me. Because yet another DC SWAMP toe hold has been established and the Internet has just become a government controlled and regulated poltical tool.
