[RADIOSHABELLE] Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... president Said Abdullahi Deni has commended the police for foiling ISIS attack in the coastal town of Bosaso.
At least two Death Eaters were on Saturday killed and another one injured in festivities between Somali forces and Death Eaters in Bosaso town in Somalia’s northern region of Beri, a military official confirmed.
Hussein Ali Mohammed, commander of Somali forces in Bari region, told journalists that members of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... s (ISIS) launched an attack on police forces in the town.
"As the police patrolling in the town, Death Eaters ambushed them, prompting an exchange of fire between the army and the Death Eaters, we killed two of the Death Eaters and injured another one," Mohammed said.
He noted that one of their soldiers was killed while another one sustained the injury during the confrontation.
The so-called ISIS wing in Somalia has its main base in the Puntland region and has occasionally clashed with Puntland forces and al-Shabaab ...... the personification of Somali state failure... .
[RADIOSHABELLE] Silvia Romano, an Italian aid worker kidnapped 18 months ago in East Africa, landed in Rome on Sunday a day after being freed.
Gunmen seized Romano, who was working for an Italian charity called Africa Milele, in southeastern Kenya in November 2018. No group grabbed credit for the kidnapping.
She was found in Somalia, some 30 km (19 miles) outside the capital, Mogadishu, and was released thanks to efforts by the external intelligence agency, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said.
Romano, 24, touched down at Rome’s Ciampino airport aboard a special flight at about 2 p.m. (1200 GMT).
Escorted by masked men from the intelligence service, she temporarily removed her protective mask to wave as she descended the steps from the jet before hugging relatives waiting for her at the airport.
She was greeted by Di Maio and Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
In her home neighbourhood in Milan, church bells saluted her arrival, with many people on their balconies, SKY TG24 showed.
Romano is expected to meet prosecutors in Rome later on Sunday.
"I was strong and resisted," Romano was quoted by Italian newspapers as saying after her release.
Conte said the task force working to free Romano had been in the final stages "for the last months", after having proof that she was still alive. He added that details were not disclosed so as to not compromise the operation.
"We are so glad to welcome Silvia back in such a delicate moment for the country. The state is always there, and will always be there," Conte said.
He thanked the intelligence services, the judiciary and the defence and foreign ministries, all involved in the release of the woman.
Later on Sunday, Ottoman Turkish security sources said Romano was rescued after a joint effort by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... ’s MIT intelligence agency and Italian and Somalian government authorities.
"The MIT began work in the region on determining Silvia Romano’s condition in December 2019 upon a request from Italian authorities," the sources said.
How very noble of the Turks, to be sure.

Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC) said that as of April 28, oil production in the country was down to just 95,077 barrels a day.
The forced restriction of oil and gas production has caused Libya financial losses exceeding US$4.35 billion since mid-January, said the NOC, calling again on “all parties to lift the blockade and re-start oil and gas production.”
[Libya Observer] Warlord Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly... ’s militia groups, backed by Wagner and Sudanese mercenaries, launched an all-out attack in Mashrou and Yarmouk frontlines in southern Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... on Saturday night, but it ended in failure.
The attack was backed by sleeper cells and a wave of fake news on TV and social media pages. As the fighting began, media outlets loyal to Haftar claimed that "our forces had taken control of Abu Salim and Furnaj districts and members of Presidential Council, ministers and Ottoman Turkish officers had escaped to Misrata."
Pro-Haftar social media activists flooded Facebook with fake news and disinformation in attempt to weaken the morale of government forces and local residents of Tripoli.
Libyan government forces has managed to repel the attack and arrested a group of armed sleeper cells in Hadbah neighbourhood. The button men closed some streets and attempted to attack government forces from the back.
Last week, spokesperson of warlord Haftar, Ahmed al-Mismari, claimed that their forces will enter Tripoli by the will of its sons, a day after sending an audio message to Tripoli youth urging them to turn against the Presidential Council and what he called militia leaders.

[Dhaka Tribune] The boat carrying more than 400 Rohingyas, which landed in Bangladesh in the early hours of April 16, had experienced a dramatic mutiny 30 hours earlier.
In that mutiny, four of the 11 Rakhine traffickers were killed, five were rescued by another boat, and two traffickers, including the captain, were kept hostage to steer the trawler back to Bangladesh.
In exclusive testimony, a survivor of the ill-fated journey explained how the failure to land in Malaysia, despite three attempts, led a group of 17 Rohingya men to confront and overcome the traffickers.

[OANN] The newly appointed prime minister of Iraq, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, carried out one of the first decisions of his administration this week. On Sunday, the country’s judiciary ordered a release of all anti-government protesters who did not partake in violence.
This came after dozens burned tires in renewed protests against the new leadership.
Protests began back in October, when thousands of citizens denounced government corruption and demanded officials to be held accountable.
[SYRIAHR] Syrian Observatory for Human Rights continues monitoring and tracking the issue of SDF Ottoman Turkish- born commanders’ escape to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... . In latest development, SOHR can reveal new details surrounding the killing of a financial official in SDF while attempting to escape to Turkey.
The official in question, known by his initials as B, is a Ottoman Turkish Kurd and serves as a financial official in Syria Democratic Forces. The official was trying to escape to Turkey with large sums of money in his possession by virtue of his post, while another person escorted him.
The official planned to cross into Turkey via Jatli village and Qarmani town on Turkey-Syria border where Ottoman Turkish vehicles were waiting for him. However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... his repeated visits to the area uncovered his plan, as he was tracked by SDF intelligence in which he was rubbed out while attempting to escape. No further details have been reported about the fate of the second person escorting him.
SOHR has recently monitored many similar incidents which suggest that the escape of SDF commanders of the Ottoman Turkish Kurds is on the rise. In the past few days, another financial official in al-Darbasiyah known by his initials as D. managed to escape with large sums of money, after coordination with Turkey.
A Ottoman Turkish-born woman, who serves as an SDF commander in al-Raqqah, and another official responsible for tunnels in Ain al-Arab (Kobani) have also joined many escapees who managed to flee to Turkey.

Initial reports from Iran stated that the frigate Konarak was "sunk" by a missile fired by Iran's Jamaran frigate resulting in a number of Iranian soldiers being killed or missing, according to Radio Farda. Some reports indicated dozens of injuries and deaths, with about 40 military personnel estimated to have been on board at the time.
Some reports indicated that the Konarak had brought a target to the area for the test launch of a cruise missile, but was not completely out of the way before the missile was filed.
The Konarak vessel was considered a light support vessel and can carry dozens of crew, but it is unclear how many personnel were on board. The Jamaran vessel, Iran's first domestically-built destroyer, has the ability to carry about 120 personnel and is armed with surface-to-air missiles, torpedoes and modern naval cannons, according to Iran's Press TV. It has been armed with the Noor surface-to-surface cruise missile as well.
