[BBC] A woman who deliberately ploughed into a cyclist after being confronted about using her mobile phone behind the wheel has been jailed for three years.
Justine Henshaw-Bryan chased Damien Doughty through Stoke Newington, north London, sending him flying into a tree. Henshaw-Bryan, who is due to give birth in November, said her then boyfriend told her to follow the cyclist, but the judge rejected her claim.
Mr Doughty, 38, was badly hurt, spending three days in intensive care. Sentencing 25-year-old Henshaw-Bryan at Wood Green Crown Court, Judge Gregory Perrins said her actions could have killed Mr Doughty.
"This was a calculated attempt to run him over and use your car as a weapon," the judge said.
"It would have been obvious that to do so would have carried significant risk of injury."
The court heard how the pair nearly collided on Stoke Newington High Street on 10 February 2016, when Henshaw-Bryan pulled out in front of the cycle courier while using her mobile.

Unmarried with baby-melon, off to fetch beer and chips for the boyfriend. Her circuits were likely already overloaded. Attempting to conduct corrective counseling with these people is a big mistake. Your comments will not be heeded and may well result in a homicidal response.

The female of the species - especially behind a wheel.
And yet it's males 16-25 years of age who pay the most for driving insurance, because of the significantly higher probability that they will be in an accident, g(r)omgoru. It takes a while to get used to testosterone. ;-)
As for Ms Henshaw-Bryan: after she serves her sentence, take away her right to drive until she is forty, assuming she has a acquired common sense by then.

Actually, women have more accidents. But they are usually at lower speed than men and cause less damage. Hence lower insurance premiums.
Men drive too fast, and women don't pay enough attention, as in this case.
[NEWYORK.CBSLOCAL] The search for a suspect continues in what police called "an unprovoked attack" on an 83-year-old man in the Bronx.
Valentine Hernandez had just crossed Westchester Avenue at Fox Street Monday afternoon when police said he was sucker punched by a much younger and much larger man.
The entire incident was captured on surveillance video.
And what did the video tell those who saw it, other than the size and age of the assailant?
Hernandez fell to the ground and lost consciousness, suffering a laceration to his forehead and fractures to his nose and face.
Miguel Santos is now desperate to speak to his elderly father, who is at death's door in Lincoln Hospital.
"Never seen him that way. He was just there unconscious," he said. "It seems like he’s trying to wake up but he can’t. He can’t open his eyes, can’t open his left eye at all. It’s swollen shut."
Hernandez has lived in the Longwood section of the Bronx for decades and was walking his usual route around the neighborhood.
"If he can, goes to church five, six, seven days a week," Santos said. "He goes every single day and he walks himself. He doesn’t have an aide."
What has both Miguel and Sherlocks confused is the motive behind this brutal attack.
"Everything is still here, even cash was still in his pocket,’ said Santos. "Everything is still here, credit cards."
Police say the attacker didn’t say a word before knocking Hernandez unconscious, leaving him in the street. He then fled eastbound on Fox Street.

adds a bit of whiskey to his morning coffee. He may not live to be a 125 if he continues this routine. I'll bet he has outlived all his doctors who recommended that he change his life style. Thanks Mr. Overton for your service--a part of the greatest generation.
[Right Scoop] Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos was heavily booed while she was delivering a commencement address on Wednesday at Bethune-Cookman University, a historically black college in Florida.
Students jeered DeVos and turned their backs to her, BuzzFeed reports.
BuzzFeed reporter Molly Hensley-Clancy was present at the Bethune-Cookman commencement exercises, and tweeted updates throughout the event. She first documented the students' loud booing of Omarosa Manigault, the White House Office of Public Liaison's director of communications and a close confidante of President Donald Trump from his time on "The Apprentice."

The perpetually unhappy African American entitlement liberals who claim everyone is racist regardless of society handing them everything they could possibly want on a silver platter is never ending. With jobs, opportunities and bright futures finally becoming reality to graduates are never going to be acknowledged by the University Socialist Indoctrination Camps until funding is cut.

Savages, yes. Noble, No. Down right rude. These students should shut up, they might learn something if their mouths are not too busy spouting off platitudes which they were provided by the left.
[EADT.CO.UK] A mother-of-three says she is lucky to be alive after being attacked by a herd of cows when walking her dog in fields near Great Yeldham in Essex.
Carol Green, 52, of Goodchild Way, has warned others to avoid the animals, especially if they are with young calves.
Ms Green was walking through farmland close to the village when the ’horrifying’ attack happened.
She said the herd suddenly came at her, knocking her to the floor and headbutting her.
"It was absolutely horrifying," she said. "It was a living nightmare."
"I tried to keep calm and walk a little faster but they had blocked the stile.?"They were just closing in. The large one seemed to be leading the others.
"Then it headbutted me, it had its head like a bull would have it.
"It knocked me off my feet and then started kicking me about with its hooves and its head."
Ms Green, who says she has been suffering nightmares and flashbacks since the attack, managed to escape by climbing over a gate and making her way to a nearby fishing pond.
"There was a chap there who heard the screams but didn’t pay much attention because he thought it was youths messing about.
"He put me in the car and took me home, called the police and rang the paramedics.
"I was then taken by ambulance to Broomfield Hospital. I suffered bad bruising mainly. I had to get the back of my ear glued because there was a nasty cut behind my ear."

[217.218.67.231] North Korea has warned that the deployment of a US-made missile system in South Korea will turn the Korean Peninsula into a nuclear battlefield.
The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) "is a source of a nuclear disaster being brought to our race at the moment," said a report in North’s state-run Korean Central TV on Wednesday.
The installation of THAAD began last month amid rising tensions over North Korea’s ballistic and nuclear tests. China and Russia have also criticized the deployment of THAAD, saying it would significantly affect the balance of power in the region and would lead to more instability. Washington and Seoul had agreed on the installation in the summer of 2016.
The US missile system is equipped with a powerful detection system known as an X-band radar, which experts say would destabilize regional security and upset the region’s current military balance.

(CNN) Michael Huggins' grandfather never learned how to read or write. He was born in Mississippi when Jim Crow laws still legalized racial segregation, but eventually left in the 1950s by riding in the trunk of a car that was leaving the state. Two generations later, his grandson is graduating from Harvard.
"If he hadn't made his decision to leave and find a better life for his family, I wouldn't be here," Huggins said. "Graduating from Harvard, it's spiritual for me. And I know so many people who have stories like that."
Huggins, who will graduate with a master's degree from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government, hopes that such stories will be shared and celebrated at Harvard University's first commencement ceremony specifically honoring black graduates.
The event, to be held two days prior to Harvard's traditional commencement, aims to honor the achievements of black students at Harvard and to share their experiences with the larger community.
More than 300 students and 500 guests have registered to attend the May 23 event. The event will be an optional, additional ceremony.
The ceremony, Huggins said, is not meant to be divisive, but rather an affirmation of identity and community.

The goal is not a separate commencement ceremony. The goal is a completely separate institution and government. Embedded tribalism cannot simply be whisked away with the magic broom of multiculturalism.

I've been through all this $hit before, with the separate graduations and proms and what not and I'm sick of it.
If you (anyone) doesn't want to be part of the society than move out. All of those entertainers and athletes can pony up a few mill each and get you started elsewhere.
Back in '67 when I graduated HS was right in the middle of the mess. There was major rioting 10 miles away etc. etc. You were in the right then, you won as you should have, now deal with it.

I wonder if African Americans have really thought out the end game of all of this voluntary apartheid. They can't realistically live isolated from whites in the real world can they?

RJ - as long as it's enabled by the rest of us ...sure...as long as we pay for it and let it happen.
Case in point - UC Santa Cruz and the recent cave to the black demands. Working out pretty good for them I'd say. How far would non-black conservatives get if they tried the same thing? You know the answer..
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government had a $182 billion budget surplus in April, confounding market expectations for a deficit, according to Treasury Department data released on Wednesday.
The budget surplus was $106 billion in April 2016, according to Treasury's monthly budget statement.
The fiscal 2017 year-to-date deficit was $344 billion compared with $353 billion in the same period of fiscal 2016.
When accounting for calendar adjustments, the surplus last month was $145 billion compared with an adjusted surplus of $146 billion the prior year. The adjusted deficit for the fiscal year to date was $373 billion compared with $314 billion the prior fiscal year period.
Receipts last month totaled $456 billion, up 4 percent from April 2016, while outlays stood at $273 billion, a decrease of 18 percent from the same month a year earlier.

the April surplus is a result of the April filing deadline
because more people are asking for extensions each year, the anticipated surplus was about $100B but apparently, a lot of people paid estimated taxes with their extension.

Perhaps, the most pathetic aspect of this incident is the college President's initial reaction. Even though it was clear at the time his first email didn't mention the whole thing was a hoax. It's almost as if he was content to let the false narrative fester. Doyathink?
