I'd left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
Lola smiled and took me by the hand
She said, "Little boy, gonna make you a man"

[ALMARSAD.CO] The Presidential Council announced in a statement on Thursday that it distrust the truce declared by the Libyan National Army (LNA) and said it would continue fighting. The Libyan National Army (LNA) has announced a humanitarian truce ..The purposes of a truce are twofold: 1.) bring up more arms, ammunition, and reinforcements; and 2.) get the enemy to relax his vigilance. A truce is not the same thing as a ceasefire, and a ceasefire doesn't mean you have to stop shooting... for the month of Ramadan. UNSMIL and the international community had urged both parties in the conflict to hold a ceasefire during the month of Ramadan and due to coranvirus pandemic fears.
According to Fayez al-Sarraj’s media office, the Presidential Council said that the decision declared by the "aggressor" (referring to Commander Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly... ) two days ago for the leadership of the army to take over power, which the Council described as "a turn against the political agreement and legitimate institutions", confirms that he is not a partner in peace.

[France24] Germany has banned all Iran-backed Hezbollah activity on its soil and designated it a terrorist organisation, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
Police also conducted early morning raids on mosque associations in four cities across Germany. Security officials believe up to 1,050 people in Germany are part of Hezbollah's extremist wing.
Israel and the United States had been pushing Germany to ban the organisation. Germany had previously distinguished between Hezbollah's political arm and its military units, which have fought alongside President Bashar al-Assad's army in Syria.
A spokesman said Interior Minister Horst Seehofer had banned the activities of Hezbollah.
"Even in times of crisis, the rule of law is capable of acting," tweeted the spokesman.
A heavily armed Shi'ite Islamist group already designated a terrorist organisation by the United States, Hezbollah is also a significant backer of the government of Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab, which took office in January.
Jewish groups hailed the move as a landmark decision.
"This is a welcome, much-anticipated, and significant German decision," said American Jewish Committee head David Harris.
"We now hope other European nations will take a close look at Germany’s decision and reach the same conclusion about the true nature of Hezbollah," said Harris.
The EU classifies Hezbollah's military wing as a terrorist group, but not its political wing.

In which the Copenhagen police are inordinately proud of having protected their city from something, though precisely what that something might be remains to be revealed..
[DW] Police in Copenhagen have foiled plans for an act of terror that had "a murderous Moslem Islamic motive." The suspect, who had allegedly tried to obtain firearms and ammunition, was thought to be working alone, authorities said.
Police in Denmark prevented a terror attack that was said to have "a murderous Moslem Islamic motive," authorities confirmed in a statement on Thursday.
Danish police on Thursday arrested a man who is suspected of planning a terrorist attack, the chief of Copenhagen’s police force Jorgen Bergen Skov said in a joint presser with the operative head of Denmark's Security and Intelligence Service (PET) Flemming Drejer.
"He is suspected of attempting to obtain firearms and ammunition to carry out a terrorist operation somewhere," Bergen Skov said, declining to provide details about the location of the planned attack.
"You must have no doubt that PET's efforts have led to the prevention of a terrorist attack," he said.
Drejer said the man was planning "one of several attacks" and that police believe he was acting alone. The man had "a murderous Moslem Islamic motive," Drejer added.
Both Dreyer and Bergen Skov said the incident was not related to a case in December where Danish authorities arrested around 20 people suspected of having ties to Islamic terrorism.
The suspect will face a pre-trial custody hearing on Friday, Bergen Skov said.
[JPost] - Israel shot five rockets from the Golan Heights over the southern Syria border southern Syria border in the Quneitra region on Thursday night, Syria's State News Agency reports.

[IsraelTimes] Private intelligence firm releases photographs of aftermath of recent attacks attributed to Israel against Iran-backed forces outside Damascus and near Palmyra.
The attacks were on As Sukhnah on April 20th and Al Mazzeh Airport on April 27th.
A pair of Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s against Iran-backed forces in Syria earlier this month that were attributed to Israel targeted a warehouse outside of Palmyra and the entrance to an underground facility near Damascus, according to satellite images released by an private Israeli intelligence firm Thursday.
Jerusalem has never officially acknowledged conducting the strikes, though Defense Minister Naftali Bennett has hinted at Israel’s involvement, repeatedly commenting that the military was working to force out Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... from Syria.
On April 20, Syria accused Israel of conducting an airstrike on a target near Palmyra. Nine pro-regime fighters were reportedly killed in the attack, three of them from the Syrian army and six foreigners, including Hezbollah members, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor.
A week later, the Israeli military was accused of carrying out another attack, on the Mezzeh military airfield outside Damascus. Four pro-Iranian fighters were killed in that strike, according to the Observatory. Three Syrian civilians were also reportedly killed by shrapnel, though it was not clear if the fragments came from the incoming missiles or Syria’s air defenses.
According to the satellite imagery analysis company ImageSat International, the target of the first strike outside Palmyra was a warehouse. Before-and-after photographs from the site show that half of the structure was flattened in the missile attack.
The private intelligence firm assessed that the second attack targeted the entrance to an underground facility controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ expeditionary Quds Force, the branch of Tehran’s military that works closely with Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies against Israel.
The company’s satellite images also showed that reconstruction was continuing on a command center that was destroyed in an airstrike, also attributed to Israel, in November.
[SYRIAHR] Commercial trucks have crossed from regime-held areas to areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... and opposition factions via the al-Na’saan-Miznaz commercial crossing in the western countryside of Aleppo, officially opened by HTS.
Meanwhile, ...back at the mall, Clarissa spent the day shopping for new underwear. Tonight was going to be a special occasion... tens of people, opposing the opening of commercial crossing with the Syrian regime, have gathered in the area, in order to prevent the trucks from entering areas controlled by HTS and rebel factions. "Tens of people" LOL. Governor Newsom would be very angry at this non-distancing!
Syrian Observatory activists reported earlier this after that tens of residents from Maarrat al-Na’ssan town and countryside gathered on the road to Miznaz town in the western countryside of Aleppo, blocking the way of trucks heading to the commercial crossing which HTS intended to open in the area with areas under control of the Syrian regime.
This development coincided with the arrival of military reinforcement affiliated to Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham in Maarrat al-Na’san in the western countryside of Aleppo, in preparation for opening the commercial crossing with regime forces.
Meanwhile, ...back at the mall, Clarissa spent the day shopping for new underwear. Tonight was going to be a special occasion... reliable sources informed SOHR that HTS advanced into the outskirts of the regime-controlled town of Miznaz where HTS retrieved the bodies of its fighters killed in previous battles with regime forces.
On April 28, SOHR sources reported that HTS members prevented a Ottoman Turkish military column from entering Darat Izza city, west of Aleppo province, as members of al-Katoura checkpoint blocked the way of Ottoman Turkish military vehicles.
This development comes amid growing tension between HTS on one hand, and Ottoman Turkish forces and their proxies on the other, since HTS seeks to open a commercial crossing with regime-controlled areas.
SOHR sources also monitored earlier that day Ottoman Turkish army and al-Sham Corps on one hand, and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham on the other on high alert, in Maarrat al-Na’saan area, after HTS had brought a wheel loader to remove the soil barrier erected by Ottoman Turkish army.
Ottoman Turkish army erected the soil barrier the previous day, blocking the way of HTS trucks to prevent them from reaching the commercial crossing which HTS intended to open in the area with areas under control of the Syrian regime.

[SYRIAHR] The Syrian Observatory has monitored a night demonstration in the city of Idlib, denouncing the practices of Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... against the demonstrators protesting the opening of the commercial crossing with regime-controlled areas, in the village of Miznaz in western Aleppo countryside near the administrative border with Idlib province.
Meanwhile, ...back at the abandoned silver mine, a triangular dorsal fin appeared in the water. Then another... security officials of HTS tried to disperse a demonstration near the "Clock" square using different ways and firing live bullets at the demonstrators.
Similar protests have took place in Kafr Takhareem city in western countryside of Idlib, amid widespread popular discontent.
On the other hand, activists have called for demonstrations and sit-ins in Idlib province under the slogan "No to opening the crossings... For the deaders for dignity."
SOHR sources have that a civilian died of injuries sustained, after being shot today by the security forces of Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), during participation in protests against the opening of a crossing with the regime.
Syrian Observatory activists reported earlier this after that tens of residents from Maarrat al-Na’ssan town and countryside gathered on the road to Miznaz town in the western countryside of Aleppo, blocking the way of trucks heading to the commercial crossing. Whil HTS security forces tried to disperse them using the same violent methods that the regime was using at the beginning of the Syrian revolution while repressing peaceful demonstrations.
Ottoman Turkish drones had dropped leaflets over several areas in rural Idlib, indirectly inciting citizens against an armed faction, calling on them not to believe the lies of those who are upset by stability, and calling on the people to help the Ottoman Turkish army to secure peace and calm in the region.

Rocket attack in Baghdad, Syria gas field shelled after Soleimani killing.
By TZVI JOFFRE JANUARY 5, 2020. Syrian regime forces and Iranian militias fired three shells at the Conoco gas field in the Deir Ezzor area of eastern Syria and two rockets were fired at the Green Zone where the US embassy is located on Sunday evening in the aftermath of the US airstrike that killed IRGC Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani.
Methinks that Trump will protect Konoko as long as Conoco holds some interest in the field, or, perhaps, is demanding reparations for same.
