[Shafaq News] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... has closed its air space to flights from the Iraqi Kurdish city of Sulaimaniyah, blaming the increased activity of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the foreign ministry announced Wednesday.
Ankara shut down air links on Monday and the freeze on flights would last until at least July 3 before being reviewed, said the ministry statement.
"This decision has been taken in the context of the intensification of activities of the PKK at Sulaimaniyah, the intrusion of the terrorist organization at the airport and the threat it poses to air security," it said.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said last month that one of its top commanders was among nine fighters killed when two helicopters crashed in Iraq in mid-March.
They were heading to Sulaimaniyah, in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region, for talks on security and military issues.
The SDF has been a key ally of the US-led coalition fighting ISIS bandidossnuffies in Syria and neighboring Iraq.
Turkey and its western allies consider the PKK to be a terrorist organization.
But Turkey also considers the dominant faction in the Syrian Kurdish administration, the People’s Protection Units (YPG), as an offshoot of the PKK.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini... told local leaders on Tuesday that the "Zionist regime" was disappearing faster than he had anticipated, amid internal Israeli divisions over the government’s controversial judicial overhaul.
"Their own officials continuously warn that their collapse is nearing. Their president says this, their former prime minister says this, their [military] chief says this and their defense minister says this. They all say it," Khamenei said, appearing to refer to concerns voiced by public figures, such as President Isaac Herzog, that civil conflict could break out over intense disagreements on the legislation that seeks to shackle the Supreme Court.
"They say their collapse is nearing and that they won’t make it to their 80th birthday. We said a few years ago [in 2015] that they wouldn’t reach the next 20 or 25-year point from then. But they themselves are in a rush and want to leave sooner," he said.
The comments on Israel were made during a special Ramadan address Khamenei gave to government officials in Tehran.
On Twitter, Khamenei also wrote: "The Zionist regime had never faced such a terrible crisis like the current one during its 75 years. It is gripped by severe political instability. In 4 years, it has changed 4 prime ministers, & political coalitions have fallen apart before they have been completely formed."
Israel was deadlocked politically since elections in 2019. After its fifth election in under four years in November 2022, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power, with his Likud party and religious and far-right allies winning 64 seats.
Since forming a government, the Netanyahu coalition has pushed a contentious proposal to weaken the country’s judiciary, drawing severe warnings from the security establishment that the plans have worsened the nation’s strategic position, highlighting the danger of enemies identifying the internal divisions as weakness.
Tensions peaked last week after Netanyahu announced he was firing Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for publicly calling for a halt to the legislation due to such concerns.
The announcement sparked spontaneous mass protests, which swelled to a strike announcement by the Histadrut labor federation, including the grounding of outgoing flights from Ben Gurion Airport. Netanyahu then announced a temporary pause to the legislative push, saying he was going to give compromise negotiations a chance. Gallant remains in his post.
In a message to Israel’s adversaries during a Tuesday pre-Passover toast at the Defense Ministry, Netanyahu said that "no [internal] dispute will prevent us from protecting ourselves from attacks."

Police detained a number of people near Jerusalem’s Temple Mount Wednesday with lamb or goats they were suspected of intending to sacrifice at the site for the Passover holiday. "It's my emotional support goat"
By noon, at least three clips of people being detained with animals were shared on social media.
In recent years, fringe religious groups have increasingly sought to carry out the sacrifice at the flashpoint Jerusalem holy site, as performed on Passover in biblical times. The Returning to the Mount group makes a request each year to carry out the ritual, but to no avail.
Most Israeli security officials believe that permitting the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount would spark fierce protests by Moslems in Jerusalem, the West Bank and neighboring Arab countries, who would see it as a major change to the status quo on the holy site.
The movement has handed out flyers in the Old City in recent days calling on self-proclaimed geniuss to bring a lamb onto the Temple Mount for the pre-Passover sacrifice, and promising a financial reward for those arrested by police while attempting such a sacrifice. The movement offered NIS 2,500 ($700) for anyone arrested on the Temple Mount with a lamb and NIS 20,000 ($8,240) for a successful sacrifice.
The efforts, which drew the attention of Paleostinian social media, are believed to have contributed to festivities at al-Aqsa Mosque overnight, which saw police break into the mosque and detain hundreds after masked youths barricaded themselves inside with fireworks, clubs and rocks following evening prayers, while locking the doors and placing barricades at the entrances.
Monday saw the head of Returning to the Mount detained, apparently to prevent him from attempting a sacrifice.
self-proclaimed genius Rafael Morris was stopped in his car Monday as he was driving with his son near Latrun, about 35 kilometers (22 miles) from the capital, according to a statement from a far-right activism group calling itself the Temple Mount Administration.
Officers told him he was being detained on suspicion of a future plan to disrupt public order.
Mainstream Jewish leaders reject renewing the biblical rite of sacrifice on the Mount at this time.
On Sunday, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said that Jews should visit the Temple Mount during the holiday but not perform the ritual sacrifice, which he has repeatedly called for allowing in the past and has even attempted to perform himself.
The Passover festival coincides this year with the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, when hundreds of thousands of Moslem pilgrims also visit the site.
Ramadan has often been marked by festivities and high tension between Israel and the Paleostinians, particularly surrounding the sensitive site, which is the holiest in Judaism.
For decades, Moslems have accused Israel of planning to take over the Temple Mount or destroy the al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest site, which it houses. Israel dismisses the accusation and has vowed repeatedly to maintain the status quo, whereby Jews are allowed to visit there — under numerous restrictions and only during limited hours — but not pray. However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... Jews have increasingly been allowed to quietly pray there, while Paleostinians have instigated violence at the site and unilaterally designated more parts of the site for prayer.
The Western Wall Heritage Foundation, which administers the Western Wall area, said in a statement Tuesday that following reports of intentions to bring a Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount, Western Wall chief rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch was introducing a ban on animals being brought to the Mughrabi Bridge area.
The Mughrabi Bridge is the sole entry point to the Temple Mount permitted for use by non-Moslems, including Jews. It is adjacent to the Western Wall, is located within the Western Wall site and leads up to the Mughrabi Gate and into the compound.
"The Western Wall Heritage Foundation operates in accordance with the directions given by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel which, throughout the generations, has objected to any act of this sort [sacrifice], and in accordance with the authority of the rabbi of the Western Wall has prevented these sorts of acts for years and will continue to do so this year as well," the foundation said in a statement.
Returning to the Mount responded to the statement by vowing to continue its sacrifice efforts and calling on the government to fire Rabinovitch for "a despicable attempt and a cynical use of the Holy Places Law to prevent Jewish access and worship to Judaism’s holiest place."
Ben Gvir has long been an advocate for formally altering the Temple Mount status quo, in which Moslems are allowed to pray and enter with few restrictions, while religious Jews can visit only during limited time slots via a single gate and walk on a predetermined route, closely accompanied by police.

I saw plenty of evidence of animal sacrifice floating in the Suez back in the 90’s. It surprised me. I had thought that the practice was long since retired. If they were to catch an American celebrity trying to haul a sacrificial goat up the Temple Mount, my money would be on Madonna.
