Remember when the 82nd Airborne was activated to assist flying Afghanis out of Kabul while bribing the Taliban to not attack?
Six months, and however millions of southern border crossers later, Harris was asked How Many Ukrainian Refugees will the US take, and she was like, "As if."

The international rule is refugees are supposed to ask for asylum in the first country they get to. Ukrainians should be asking for asylum in Europe, then applying for a regular visa to come here, not cross however many borders to try to get in illegally.

I have trouble planning a trip to another state a month a way. Seems like an awful long way to travel with a change of underwear and a backpack. Do they have hot soup stations at intervals all the way across Europe into Mexico? What about junior that they left behind with his shiney new long rifle to play Beau Geste? The logistics of this doesn't add up.

I cannot resist pointing out that it my understanding that the Texas Military Department is employing personnel in a STATE ACTIVE DUTY status, a form of state civil service unique to those who have or have had an affiliation with the Texas National Guard. They are NOT on federal active duty (neither Title 10 or Title 32) and are acting under the authority of Texas Law. The intentional confabulation by those who resist efforts to enforce our border with descriptions about "active duty in the US Armed forces" or so imply, is pure bulllsh*t. Texas is trying to protect its overwhelms border and the influx of hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens because of the criminal disregard of the Biden Administration and DHS to enforce existing law. Beto is merely the latest dishonest demokrat politician trying to sabotage border sovereignty! Management problems, payroll, are exclusively a Texas government proble, and no one is compelled to accept a State Active Duty status, it is uniquely voluntary.
Yemen's Huthi rebels are not prepared to hold talks with the government in Saudi Arabia or other "enemy countries", an official said Thursday, after a proposal to meet in Riyadh.
The Iran-backed rebels said they were open to finding a peaceful solution to the seven-year war but baulked at travelling to Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition fighting on the side of the government.
"We will welcome an invitation to dialogue that does not take place in enemy countries," a Huthi official said on condition of anonymity.
"We will always extend our hand for peace," the official told AFP.
[IsraelTimes] A US Navy veteran who was nabbed Into the paddy wagon wit' yez! in Iran ...Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979... for nearly two years sues the Iranian government for $1 billion, alleging that he was kidnapped, held hostage and tortured.
The federal lawsuit describes in unsparing detail the "prolonged and continuous" abuse that Michael White says he suffered behind bars, including being beaten and punched, whipped on his feet, deprived of food and drink, and pressured to falsely confess that he was a spy for the US government.
"Mr. White endured this trauma for nearly two years, never knowing if or when he would be released and reunited with his family, repeatedly promised that his conditions would improve soon, only to be crushed psychologically when they did not," the lawsuit states.
The allegations in the complaint mirror the claims made by White in a 156-page manuscript that he wrote behind bars and that was later obtained by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.
The 31-page complaint traces White’s travel to Iran, saying he was lured there in the summer of 2018 by a woman he considered his girlfriend so that he could be kidnapped by Iranian government agents and put in prison. He was charged with insulting Iran’s Lord High Potentate and Supreme Leader of All He Surveys and cooperating with the US government against Iran — charges the lawsuit says were fabricated — and sentenced without a trial to 10 years in prison.

Yet more proof about how distance relationships can be tricky. Sometimes you get a broken heart, sometimes you get smacked around with a rubber hose with for a couple of years in a sweaty abode that smells of mule and Brute aftershave. There is a that off chance that you'll find true love so keep trying .. especially if you get your $1B, then you can try to find higher end love in Monaco.

More jizya for the Talibs, even if they have to follow behind the UN rapporteurs, collecting for Allah’s beloved Lions of Islam what the generous idiots abroad meant to give to the needy Afghan civilians.
[DW] The UN Security Council renewed the assistance mission to Afghanistan for another year. Russia abstained from voting, calling out the mission's renewal for "stubborn ignorance of the new realities" of Taliban ...Arabic for students... rule.
The UN Security Council voted Thursday to renew the UN's assistance mission to Afghanistan for another year.
The UN Special Representative for Afghanistan Deborah Lyons will continue in her role for the renewed mission.
Russia abstained from voting but the vote passed with 14 votes of the 15 members on the Security Council.
Norway's ambassador to the UN Mona Juul said the resolution that was drafted by Norway gave the UN "a solid mandate to engage with all relevant actors on all aspects of its mandate."
The US deputy chief of mission to the UN Jeffrey DeLaurentis said the vote represents "an important step'' in aiding the Afghan people who are facing "urgent and mutually reinforcing challenges.''
WHY IS AFGHANISTAN IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE?
The UN and other aid agencies have said half of Afghanistan's 38 million people face starvation. The country has known war continuously since 1979.
International aid to Afghanistan dried up after Kabul fell to the Taliban last August as foreign currency reserves held abroad were frozen. Numerous Taliban leaders have been sanctioned by the US and the UN.
The Taliban government is still not recognized by the international community. The fundamentalist group's return to power after nearly 20 years of NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions... -backed governments has been marked by a sharp decline in the Central Asian nation's economy.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE UN MISSION TO AFGHANISTAN?
The UN established the mission 20 years ago after the US deposed the Taliban for sheltering al-Qaeda leader the late Osama bin Laden ...... who used to be alive but now he's not...... in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon near Washington D.C.
Priorities for the renewed mission include delivering aid, funding humanitarian activities, protecting human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. and women's rights.
When the Taliban previously ruled Afghanistan in the late 1990s, women were forbidden from working, girls education was banned, and a host of additional prohibitions restricted their public lives, confining them largely to the home.
WHY DID RUSSIA OBJECT TO RENEWING THE AFGHANISTAN ASSISTANCE MISSION?
Russia wanted the 15 members on the Security Council to refer to "de-facto authorities" and mention the need for the host country to approve the UN's presence.
Instead, the resolution mentions "relevant authorities" and nothing is said about the host country's approval.
In refusing the vote, Russia's UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia called out what he termed the "stubborn ignorance of the new realities" of Taliban control in Afghanistan.
Russia's decision to abstain from voting on the UN Security Council comes as Moscow faces unprecedented geopolitical isolation, a consequence of the brutal invasion of Ukraine it launched on February 24.

what the generous idiots abroad meant to give to the needy Afghan civilians
You really think so? The UN is full of islamics and quasi islamics now, policies and resolutions being decided in favor of them everywhere. The 'generous idiots' may not be idiots at all in fact. Who's to say the Emirate of Afghanistan was not an intended outcome all along? A new training ground for islamic terror with a refugee pipeline straight into the heart of western countries willing to adopt Afghans? There's this new islamophobia resolution now, for enabling islamics to propagate their pre-modern ways in all our cities without being called out. There is some new sympathy with Palestinians and Arabs everyday. March 15 is World Anti-Islamophobia Day now. I don't think this is idiocy. Idiocy is keeping the UN funded.
Shafaq News / Former MP Mithal al-Allousi warned today of more Iranian attacks targeting Iraqi cities.
Al-Allousi told Shafaq News agency that the Iraqi government's "indifference" over the Erbil attack, and doing nothing more than denouncing instead of taking serious steps against this attack that violated the country's sovereignty and stability, will push Tehran to carry out more hostile operations against Iraq and Iraqis.
He expected Tehran to bombard more cities including Baghdad, under the pretext of locating Mossad sites.
Al-Allousi noted that the Iraqi government must take serious steps against this attack.
In the early hours of Sunday, a dozen of ballistic missiles landed in the capital of the Kurdistan region that appeared to target the United States Consulate.
Later that day, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the missile assault.
Spokesperson to the Kurdistan Regional Government, Gutyar Adel, said yesterday, "we resolutely refuse any reports about a presence of the Mossad or any [foreign] intelligence body in Kurdistan. We asked the Iranian government to participate by itself in the investigation into those baseless claims it made."

Shafaq News / The commander of the deputy commander of the second axis of the Peshmerga forces (Qara Tappa-Hamrin), Major General Mohammed Rustom, said today that ISIS had been completely paralyzed three months ago.
Rustom told Shafaq News agency that the December 2021 operations had paralyzed the terrorist organization on the outskirts of Kifri district and villages adjacent to Saladin governorate, and prevented it from resurging and carrying out attacks for three months.
He added that terrorist attacks have decreased by 95% in the mentioned areas, noting that military operations are always ongoing to monitor any movements and locate the terrorists' hideouts.
The Peshmerga forces, in coordination with the federal forces launched, a few days ago, comprehensive security operations to clear and search some areas following the night attacks that targeted Peshmerga points in the mentioned governorates and remote areas.

Channel 13 news reports there was no sensitive information on the phone that could potentially harm state security.

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The New York Times interviewed over the past several months four Syrian men who worked at or near secret mass graves, which led to an examination of satellite images.
Together, those clues revealed the locations of two sites where each one holds thousands of bodies of Syrians killed in detention centers administered by the Syrian government during the war.
They could also contain powerful evidence of war crimes committed by the government security forces, according to human rights groups, including the systematic torture and the killing of detainees.
To draw attention to those atrocities, the Syrian Emergency Task Force, an advocacy group, brought one of the men interviewed by The New York Times to Washington this week to speak with members of Congress and others about the mass graves.

— NORTH PRESS AGENCY - ENGLISH (@NPA_English) March 17, 2022
SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – A tension rose between two Turkish-backed armed factions in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), north of Hasakah, northeast Syria, yesterday.
A tension rose, yesterday, between al-Hamza Division and the Regiment 20, backed by Turkey, due to the defection of a group from al-Hamza Division and join the Regiment 20, a local source told North Press.
The source added that members of the two factions deployed in the city, and leaders of Ahrar al-Sharqiya faction and few Turkish officers intervened to resolve the dispute that sparked between the two factions.
Insecurity has spread in the areas controlled by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed opposition factions in northeast Syria since the Turkish invasion in late 2019.
In October 2019, the Turkish forces and the Syrian opposition factions launched ground and aerial offensive against Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad in NE Syria displacing approximately 300,000 civilians, human rights reports said.
[IsraelTimes] UN atomic agency report said to find that uranium was converted from one form to another, making it harder to dilute and transport out of country, as planned in emerging deal
Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites.... has defied Western countries by carrying out work on near-weapons grade enriched uranium that will make it harder to implement the terms of any revived nuclear deal with world powers, Rooters reported Wednesday.
The work carried out earlier this month was to convert the uranium into a type that is less easily recovered and diluted so that it can then be removed from the country, according to an ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency report issued to member states last Thursday and seen by Rooters.
It came as negotiations continue in Vienna to save the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a pact that aimed to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons but has been in tatters after the US pulled out in 2018. Since then, Iran has dropped some of its own commitments, enriching uranium to levels beyond those in the deal and that the IAEA says are only used by states seeking a weapon.
Converting uranium into a different form in the manner Iran has done will make it harder to implement any agreement for it to return to lower limits of enriched uranium laid out in the JCPOA.
Diplomats say that the emerging agreement will require Iran to dispose of its uranium enriched above 3.67%. Iran’s most enriched uranium is at 60%, a short technical step from 90% weapons grade, and it has about 33 kg of the material.
Until the recent work, it was all in the form of uranium hexafluoride, which can be easily diluted and transported, something that has been under discussion for months at the Vienna talks, Rooters reported.
However, some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them... between March 6-9, Iran transformed 2.1 kg of up to 60% uranium from one form into 1.7 kg of another form. The process produced molybdenum 99, and another a medical radioisotope. However, some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them... the enriched uranium then requires processing to recover it from the resulting materials.
In a joint statement last week, the Britannia, La Belle France, and Germany specifically warned Iran against carrying out the work, saying that doing so would have consequences for returning to the terms of the JCPOA.
"We strongly urge Iran to avoid undertaking any new escalations and in particular, call upon Iran to immediately cease all activity related to conversion of highly enriched uranium, which will have practical implications for returning to JCPOA limits," they said at the time.
DEAL CLOSE
Washington said Wednesday it was "close" to a deal with Iran on reviving the 2015 pact that saw Western powers provide sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on Tehran’s nuclear program, the latest sign of advancement following prolonged deadlock.
Days after Russian demands seemed to jeopardize talks in Vienna over restoring the pact, this week has seen multiple signals that an accord may at last be within reach, including the release of two British Iranians Wednesday after years of detention in Iran, and word that outstanding issues have narrowed to just two.
The negotiations began last April between Britannia, China, La Belle France, Germany, Iran and Russia, with the United States taking part indirectly.
The EU diplomat chairing the Vienna talks, Enrique Mora, told news hounds last week that delegations were down to negotiating the footnotes of the text, but progress stalled when Moscow demanded guarantees that Western sanctions over its invasion of Ukraine would not affect its trade with Iran.
However, some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them... Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated Tuesday that Russia had received "written guarantees" from Washington.
Iran said Wednesday there were two remaining sticking points in Vienna, including an "economic guarantee" in case a future US administration repeats Trump’s abrogation.
Another source close to the talks said the other issue was the status of Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guards, which Washington has branded a terrorist organization.
