In memory of Walt Shumate, an American Hero, The Mustache.
A founding member of Delta Force, who died 30 years ago this month.
Served 7 combat tours in Vietnam. Covert missions in North Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. Where the term "Never bet against Walt." is said to have come from.
At 44 years old, the oldest person to make it through Delta Selection.
Taught my son how to swim in his backyard pool, the old fashioned way.
Who confirmed a few months before his death, to me in the mess hall. There was a mission planned in the early 1980's to rescue ,the still held US POW's in Laos. But it was canceled by DC types for political reasons.
May his memory & honorable services be remembered.

^ Somewhat familiar with that, but the implication above was an on-the-books mission apart from the Gritz effort. Was wondering of the above story referenced a different effort.
"Scott T. Barnes said he and three other Delta Force members were sent on a secret mission arranged by Army Col. James ''Bo'' Gritz to seek out possible camps of U.S. servicemen reportedly held in Laos. He said he and the group crossed into Laos from Thailand in October, 1981, and found an ''armed camp'' with between 39 and 45 captives who appeared to be Americans.
Barnes told the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee that photographs were taken of the camp and the voices of the men were recorded by sensitive sound equipment.
But on return to Bangkok, Thailand, Barnes said, the information was seized by Defense Intelligence Agency and U.S. Embassy personnel. He said he was ordered not to divulge any information regarding the mission or he would be charged with violating the U.S. Neutrality Act."

/\ Your para 4 is spot on. Weapons and communications gear were seized when he came back into Thailand. Thai police did the dirty work, while OGA looked on. Some of the coms gear was loaned to him by active Army elements. The blowback on that little event nearly cost some careers.
Unsanctioned support to such efforts, very bad juju.
DoS and their Klingon masters didn't need any POW publicity. The POW/MIA cell at the Pentagon in the 80's was a sham. Lots of the research collected ended up in the burn bag. Officers assigned were forced to sign Non-Disclosure Statement (NDS) and threatened with loss of access (clearances). Bitterness still lingers....I am told. No publicity needed for folks and gear left behind in AFG either.
[MSN] The storm, which originated near Hawaii, is expected to intensify Monday into Wednesday. It will create "considerable flooding impacts below 5,000 feet elevation across much of the California Coast and Central Valley and over the southern Sierra Nevada foothills," the National Weather Service said.
.. Along the nearby Salinas River, evacuation orders and warnings remained in effect Monday for more than 10,000 people, with Monterey County officials warning of a "probable inundation of roadways between the Monterey Peninsula and the rest of the county" due to the incoming storm.
---------- Unfortunately, this upcoming storm will likely not be the end of the extra-wet storm parade. Another one is likely to hit 20-22 March. BTW, the Berkeley Snow Research site, at 8200', is already over 60" Snow Water Equivalent - I think it is 3 or so standard deviations over normal at this point. Unexpectedly, it's winter.

The local forecast for the Carson Valley immediately West of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Crests show that CA is getting most of the water/snow. Friends up in Tahoe have 12ft now and are expecting another 1-2 ft.
"As of 6:30 a.m., the National Weather Service radar is showing the brunt of the storm stopping at the Sierra crest. There are a few bands developing in the lee of the mountains. Rain isn’t expected to arrive in Carson Valley until around 8 a.m."

If only we could figure out a way to get that moisture a bit further east into the still-parched Colorado River basin (where much of California’s water reserves reside.)
[ToloNews] The Ministry of Public Health announced on Monday that, a polio ...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain... vaccination campaign was kicked off in collaboration with international partners, saying that the campaign aims to vaccinate more than 9 million children.
The MoPH’s front man, Sharafat Zaman Amerkhail, said that children under age five will be vaccinated during the campaign that will lasted for four days.
The campaign has not started in Bamiyan ...a place in Afghanistan that used to have some historically interesting statues of the Buddha carved into a mountainside. Then the holy men showed up and now all they have is some big holes... , Daikundi and Ghor provinces due to cold weather.
"The vaccination will be provided to 9.4 million children under age five in this campaign. The difference between this campaign and others is that the children this time will be also be provided with vitamin A to increase their body immunity," Amerkhail said.
The vaccinators meanwhile said vaccines are important to prevent polio in Afghanistan.
"They (people) may let us vaccinate their children because it benefits their children and saves them from polio," said Fatima, a vaccination.
"The people should cooperate with us so that we can save the future of their children," said Baseera, a vaccination worker.
This comes as the citizens called on the Ministry of Public Health to include the remote areas of the country in the campaign against polio.
"We live in Faryab in remote areas. I have not seen anyone receive vaccine yet in our districts," said Sayed Ahmad, a citizen.
According to the officials, only two positive cases of polio were registered in 2022 in Afghanistan. There are no positive cases of polio in 2023.

"...And coming up next, thousands of US Navy submarine crew members emit a mass "SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!" at the prospect of regular deployments to Australia!"

Gotta think our O Plan relies on our subs sinking most of the ChiComm fleet inside the first island chain. Basing subs in the west and east of Australia makes sense but time is not open our side. The biggest navy usually wins so we need make theirs a lot smaller.

[RIA Novosti] The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) transferred all deposits in the bankrupt Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), including uninsured ones, to the “bridge bank” created to protect depositors, follows from a press release from the regulator.
California regulators closed Silicon Valley Bank on March 10, the largest bank failure in the US since the 2008 financial crisis. The collapse of the SVB turned out to be associated with an increase in the discount rate of the Federal Reserve System ( FRS ) of the United States, which led to the depreciation of assets on the balance sheets of many financial institutions. In addition, the authorities closed the large New York Signature Bank due to systemic risks.
"The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) today transferred all deposits - both insured and uninsured - from the former Silicon Valley Bank to a newly created, full-service FDIC-managed "intermediate bank" as part of an effort to protect all Silicon Valley bank depositors. Bank," the statement said.
According to the announcement, depositors will have full access to their money today when Silicon Valley Bank, NA, an intermediate bank, reopens and resumes activities, including internet banking. Savers and borrowers will automatically become Silicon Valley Bank, NA customers and receive customer service and access to their funds through ATMs, debit cards and check writing in the same manner as before, the FDIC said.
However, shareholders and some holders of unsecured debt will not be protected, the FDIC concludes.
A bridge bank is a bank that operates under the direction of a board of directors appointed by the FDIC. It assumes deposits and certain other liabilities and acquires certain assets of the failed bank.

I'm no financial expert but I could never see the point in buying US government bonds. The return on investment always looked like it would be minimal. With inflation, and a one percent interest rate, it might actually be worth less at maturity than it was when it was purchased. And besides, it's just encouraging the bastards in Washington to borrow more money and increase the national debt. Makes no sense at all.

Government controls interest rates and money supply; ALL other finance is dependent on those. You CAN’T win, all you can do is to guess how to lose less.
Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:
[ColonelCassad] The command of the German armed forces intends to reform the structure of the ground forces, dividing the brigades into heavy, medium and light.
The reassignment of individual brigades and battalions will begin on April 1 and will be carried out gradually, taking into account their involvement in various operations and missions.
In particular, the 23rd Mountain Infantry Brigade will be part of the rapid reaction force division (now part of the 10th Panzer Division);
363rd tank battalion in the 12th tank brigade (now in the 37th motorized infantry brigade);
212th motorized infantry battalion in the 37th motorized infantry brigade (now in the 21st tank brigade);
91st Infantry Battalion to the 21st Tank Brigade (now in the 9th Training Tank Brigade);
413th Infantry Battalion to the 21st Tank Brigade (now in the 41st Motorized Infantry Brigade).
In the future, the 1st Panzer Division will have one heavy and two medium brigades, and the 10th Panzer Division - two heavy and one medium.
In turn, all light forces: airborne troops, army special forces, and the 23rd mountain infantry brigade will be included in the rapid reaction force division.
According to the German command, reforming the structure of the ground forces into light airmobile, medium wheeled and heavy armored forces will increase the combat capability of the Bundeswehr in the current conditions.
Medium brigades will be armed only with wheeled armored vehicles and weapons systems for organizing independent deployment and advancement to the area of combat use without the use of the railway network and cargo vehicles.
The Bundeswehr command believes that the medium forces will be able to provide an effective and powerful combination of striking power, mobility and defensive potential.
An armed conflict in the Suwalki corridor is considered as one of the scenarios for the use of medium forces.
However, the main problem facing the German military command is the lack of modern models of wheeled vehicles and the absence of some wheeled combat systems.
[Breitbart] The United States government reportedly made duplicate payments to fund projects at the Wuhan, China, laboratory — the proposed origin of the coronavirus pandemic.
Through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Wuhan lab in communist-controlled China allegedly received double the funds from research grants, according to a review of records by CBS News. "Squirrel!" Now the news is all about the double payments, not the fact that Fauci, et al, were paying at all
Diane Cutler, a federal investigator who has investigated white-collar crimes for over 20 years, called the double billing a "potential theft of government funds"
"What I’ve found so far is evidence that points to double billing, potential theft of government funds. It is concerning, especially since it involves dangerous pathogens and risky research," said Cutler.
Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) hired Cutler to investigate U.S. government grants going to high-risk research in China prior to the coronavirus pandemic. Her findings were then shared with the internal watchdog at USAID. Tens of millions of dollars could have potentially been stolen and sources close to the situation did not refute the report. Per the CBS News:
Cutler said she has viewed over 50,000 documents, and that the U.S. government may have made duplicate payments for possible medical supplies, equipment, travel and salaries.
A spokesperson for USAID declined to comment. A USAID inspector general spokesperson declined to comment "on the existence of a specific open investigation." The press office for NIH did not respond to CBS News’ questions.
Sources told CBS News the investigation of possible double-billing could take at least six months to conclude.
Sen. Marshall has called for a congressional commission to investigate the grant funds that were sent to the Wuhan lab.

Why is USAID funding bio research to begin with? I thought most of their funds went to finance Soros. There is no excuse for this blatant corruption by a latently corrupt and worthless organization. Fauci was in charge of bankrolling our biological doom. This is senseless waste of money that should have gone benefited our internal political enemies.

So they not only got us to pay for the catalyst for this crap, they overcharged us in the bargain?
No doubt why Emperor Xi has toned down the public threats, he can't keep a straight face.
[ET] Rogers Roots, an attorney representing Dominic Pezzola, a Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol breach defendant, alleged on Sunday that the FBI had committed crimes by altering evidence and requested that the court appoint a special master to review the evidence.
Roots’s move came days after the testimony of FBI Special Agent Nicole Miller, who was involved in the agency’s investigations of the Jan. 6 defendants. When cross-examining Miller, Nick Smith, an attorney representing Proud Boys member Ethan Nordean (listed as co-defendant on Pezzola’s case), revealed classified FBI emails that were hidden in a tab in an Excel spreadsheet, which included a directive to Miller to "destroy" 338 pieces of evidence and "edit out" an FBI agent from an informant report.
"Destroying evidence is a federal crime. It actually falls under a federal crime under more than one statute. The same goes with altering documents, altering records, that is a federal crime," the John Pierce Law attorney told The Epoch Times in an interview on Sunday.
In a filing on Sunday, Roots requested that Timothy J. Kelly, a Trump appointee presiding over the case, either dismiss the case in its entirety or appoint a special master to independently review the FBI messages that were revealed in court.
"The unceremonious and uninhibited nature of Miller’s discussion of committing these serious crimes suggests an FBI culture of corruption and lawlessness that must be immediately stopped, and fully investigated," Roots said in the filing.
"Accordingly, this case must be dismissed en toto and with prejudice," Roots’s filing continues. "Even if the Court were to overlook this massive trail of FBI corruption and the trial were to proceed, defendants have a right to cross-examine Agent Miller regarding all of these crimes, her missing emails, her discussions of violating defendants’ 6th amendment rights, her discussions of evidence tampering, and her discussions of altering documents involving [confidential human sources] in this case."

Could the Special Master (after he's finished with the Jan. 6 issue) have a look at the Epstein guards and non-functioning security cameras as well ?

When a Justice system us control any political party there is NO Justice.
Any failure to deliver unbiased justice and follow the US Constitution and laws that adhere to it, should slapped with 2x's the penalties inflected on the wronged.

“I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _________ under the Constitution and laws of the United States.
If the judges followed their oath as above, it would be enough. Currently, we have some judges who are Party hacks who's loyalty is to party above country. Our Justice Department/FBI have been corrupted and needs to be cleaned out top to bottom. The same could be said for the intelligence community.

If the FBI is not questioned about this by Congress, there is a problem. Shouldn’t Michael Horowitz be looking at this immediately?

Somewhere, someone in the Bureau is smiling after they found a way to put that exculpatory evidence in a Tab of a Spreadsheet, then ensure the defense noticed it. Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity are not dead just yet, just sadly career risks!
[BEE] WASHINGTON, D.C. — Amid the monumental collapse of several banks over the last few days and broader fears that the banking system is no longer safe, President Biden made a statement to assure Americans that all their bank deposits are perfectly safe in Ukraine.
"Folks don't worry. Due to the decisive actions of this administration, everyone's money is safe in Ukraine," said Biden. "I withdrew all the money and shipped it over there last night myself! My son Hunter personally supervised the transfer! That's leadership! I'm sure the Ukrainians will put your money to good use by buying bazookas and paying the pensions of government officials. I will take no questions at this time."
Biden then did an about-face and spent 15 minutes trying to walk out of the room as he couldn't find the door.
Americans are being assured to wait until the war in Ukraine is over and they pay us back before making any large withdrawals.
At publishing time, 12 more banks had collapsed during Biden's speech.

The early Church's priests did marry and have children. Marriage was later banned to prevent Church property from being inherited by the children of the priests. That is no longer a problem since the priests no longer own church property.
#3
Only for most Catholic priests, I believe. Eastern Orthodox priests marry. Also a small number of previously Catholic priests who follow certain rites, if I recall correctly, though I don’t remember which — whose group fairly recently moved allegiance to Rome.

Allowing them to marry women won't shut down the gay lust for choirboys. [not to be confused with the far greater lust of public school teachers for their pupils].

I am not Catholic but have been married to one for 48 years and largely behaving as one for 51 years. I find this one of the least disturbing actions of this Pope. I long thought we would go this was, but figured it would be by expanding the role of the Deacons. Either way it seems like a reasonable response to the problems with too many priests (and the shortage of priests.) and it’s not like there’s no precedent.
