[Twitchy] A plane heading to Columbus from Arkansas crashed Wednesday afternoon, killing all five people on board, authorities said.
The plane crashed a couple of miles south of the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock. 10TV’s sister station KTHV reported that Emergency Communications was alerted at noon that a twin-engine crashed.
According to reports from the FAA, the plane, a Beech BE20, was departing from Clinton Airport heading to John Glenn International Airport with five people on board when the crash happened.
Those on board all worked for CTEH, an environmental consulting firm, and were going to help with the cleanup of an explosion at a metal manufacturing facility in Bedford, Ohio, CTEH said in a statement. Investigation is on going. My Condolences to their families.

I have a degree in Environmental Design. It's about how to use things like sunlight, wind, air,, and shade to decrease heating and cooling costs in houses and buildings. It was part of my architectural degree. Not all environmentalism is about tree hugging and going green.

Title is misleading. The team was more of a hazardous materials team, not leftist environmentalist wac bykos.

Yes, CTEH wouldn't be considered environmentalists but environmental engineering professionals. They do things like design and make retention ponds, drainage systems, site monitoring and remediation, that sort of thing. While you do get some green nuts in those groups, they really are just engineering and geology types who like to work outside and get to go home almost every night. Unlike us oilfield types:p

In Lexington, VA there is an unstable, middle aged cat lady who has repeatedly desecrated Stonewall Jackson's grave. No matter how many times it is posted online, this doesn't diminish the man or the magnitude of his accomplishments and character, only the unstable socialist.
It is the same with the Virginia Military Institute. It is gone, and has been for some time. No matter what the current, shabbily costumed re-enactors may say. They can try, in the words of Iowahawk to kill, gut, and skin the Institute and proceed to nance about in it's hide or such few uniform items as they actually possess demanding the centuries' accrued, hard earned respect.
But the Institute, the claustrophobic life in barracks, the life long bonds with your brother rats, the rigid demands of it's Honor system exist in the soft sepia tint of memory only.
The very real, blood, sweat, and tears that were payment required to give life to Jackson's dictum, 'You may be what you resolve to be' aren't so much as an echo.
So all in all, I'd have to say the Institute isn't having any problems at all. At least none that aren't of a similar concern to other ghosts, revenants, and specters.

locals did more research
seems this is the first Blizzard Warning ever issued by this NWS office
however, back in 1989, that office did issue a Special Weather Statement acknowledging that blizzard conditions had been observed in the same areas covered by the 2023 Warning
also, a Flood Warning has now been issued for a large area from Oxnard to Los Angeles to Anaheim to Burbank to Long Beach

Its the San Gabriel Mountains north of LA but rain, wind and cold will still wreak havoc with the homeless encampments and produce massive waterflow again in the LA River, and flooding/mudslide in Tuhunga Canyon.
[EpochTimes] Grosskreutz was the only one who survived.
"But he must live with the physical and emotional wounds inflicted by Defendant Rittenhouse," the new suit reads.
The suit also names the City of Kenosha, Kenosha County, and several law enforcement officials. Could I make up this stuff?
It alleges that the defendants conspired to deprive Grosskreutz of his constitutional rights and to obstruct justice, as well as inflict retaliation against Grosskreutz for participating in protests.
U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman, a Clinton appointee overseeing the Huber case, denied many of the motions to dismiss on Feb. 1.
Adelman said the complaint "adequately pleads federal and state claims against the governmental defendants and Rittenhouse. As discussed above in the context of causation, once Rittenhouse began using violence on protestors in the confined area, he should have reasonably expected protestors to defend themselves."
The judge did dismiss some of the claims, including state law allegations against counties outside of Kenosha County.

From recollection, Grosskreutz tried attacking Rittenhouse with 3 or 4 other guys, R pointed his rifle at at G, G backed off and R lowered his rifle. Then G drew his pistol and got shot. Afterward Grosskreutz confided to a friend that he should have pulled the trigger first. Who is the perpetrator in that scenario?

Before G got to R, R had already shot the guy that hit him on the head with a skateboard. G could see that shots were already fired and a guy was probably down. Yet he still escalated.
[ShabelleMedia] The fighting in Lasanod has entered the third consecutive week with the corpse count increasing and mass displacement underway, residents said.
The battle between Somaliland forces and SCC fighters is ongoing in the southern suburbs of Lasanod, where both sides are facing each other and dug defensive positions.
In addition, according to the locals, there is a heavy bombardment by Somaliland soldiers on health facilities, commercial buildings, mosques and residential areas.
The doctors at the general hospital in Las’anod city said the deadly conflict that has resulted in over 100 people being killed and over 500 injured thus far, some in critical.
The festivities between Somaliland forces and local fighters comes after weeks of tension in the town since December following the killing of a local politician by masked button men.
Meanwhile, ...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck reached for the green sauce... Somali President Hassan Sheikh urged warring sides to cease the hostilities. He said in a speech that the conflict in Lasanod requires a "political solution."
Also, foreign diplomatic missions in Mogadishu, including the United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... , the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and the United States, issued a brief statement calling for a peaceful settlement.
The UN refugee agency [UNHCR] said more than 60,000 people fled to Æthiopia’s Somali region in the past few weeks to escape festivities in Lasanod, the Sool regional capital.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Mark Middleton, who served as a special adviser to Bill Clinton and reportedly let notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein into the Clinton White House at least seven times, was found dead last year. Middleton was found tied to a tree with an extension cord around his neck and a gunshot wound to his chest.
"Very determined man, hanged himself AND shot himself with an invisible gun.
After nearly a year, his death has curiously been ruled a suicide — even though the weapon that killed him was nowhere to be found.
"The grisly scene where a top Bill Clinton adviser was found hanged from a tree with a gunshot wound to his chest has finally been revealed nine months after he took his life," reports The Daily Mail. "But the sheriff’s report into Mark Middleton’s death raises more questions than answers as it shows his death was ruled a suicide — but the weapon that killed him was nowhere to be found.

Folks around here will shoot coyotes, then hang the corpse(s) on a fence for the buzzards to pick. It's an old tradition. The message is about everyone doing their part to remove predators, "I'm doing my part!"

I seem to recall reading about another suicide in the area a few months prior, a woman linked to this guy, who drowned in a lake by using an electrical cord of the exact same type tied to a cinderblock, but curiously, no empty boat was found in the immediate area on the lake. Almost like a signature by using the cord in a second "suicide" to silence others? Arkcanicide is a real fear it seems for minions thinking about going astray.

Now reported a shotgun was found, 30 feet from the body. Somehow the early reporting by the Deputy was in error and not noticed for months? Really?
[KhaamaPress] Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Wednesday that Pakistain’s all-weather ally China has approved a loan of USD 700 million, and the money will be sent to the central bank this week.
The loan announcement from China came a day after Pakistain’s National Assembly passed a money bill to increase tax revenues to meet the demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for seeking a USD 1.1 billion loan facility to prevent an economic meltdown.
Dar tweeted, "Formalities have been completed, and the Board of China Development Bank has approved the facility of USD 700 million for Pakistain. This amount is expected to be received this week by the State Bank of Pakistain, which will shore up its forex reserves."
Meanwhile, ...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung... the government has announced several measures, including an austerity campaign to reduce inflation and economic crisis in the country. In addition, IMF had imposed measures to increase the revenue in order to meet the requirement set by the IMF.
Austerity measures include everyone, even the ministers, advisers, and babus bureaucrats, said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday.
Pakistain’s long-standing balance of payments issue has worsened over the past year as the country’s foreign exchange reserves have fallen to critically low levels. The central bank’s reserves were merely USD 3.2 billion as of February 10, barely enough to fund three weeks’ imports.
Furthermore, Pakistain’s cash-strapped country has also sought a loan from Saudi Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century... , trying to avert a financial crisis as the government works to restart the IMF programme.

Money down a rathole. One example: In 1995, repeat 1995, after much fanfare Turkmenistan and Pakistan signed the CentGas project that was to carry natural gas at a rate of up to 2 billion cubic ft/day from the Dauletabad field in southeast Turkmenistan to an energy poor Pakistan. The project would have been of great benefit to Pakistan. The Government of Turkmenistan guaranteed deliverability from what it called the Central Asia Gas Pipeline. It was a win-win for Pakistan, and no subsequent deal has ever been better. Twenty eight years later they are still talking about it, and Pakistan continues its ruinous economic policies.
That is the Pak way. Talk is better than action.

I should have noted that Turkmenistan managed to complete what amounted to a 7,000 km. pipeline project that carried its natural gas to Xinjiang in the People's Republic of China.

Oh, yes, Uranium alloy can be highly flammable. Goes up basically like flash powder.
I had to machine a Staballoy (depleted U) part for a test unit oh these many years ago. We got shown films on what goes wrong, which is lots.
Point is you need to cut it in a sealed machine flooded with argon, and very sharp tools only.
