Peter King (R- NY) said the American people need to understand Russia and Iran are moving on many fronts and constantly plotting against against the U.S. and our allies. Understand? Some of us have understood it for decades.
King explained, 'The Saudis are willing to lower energy prices because of the Russian meddling and the threat from Iran. They figure the best way to undercut them is to take away their economic power and they do that by basically dropping the price of oil on the world market. Both Russians and the Iranians want to get back at the Saudis. There is absolutely no doubt about it. The Houthis in Yemen are again, the Iranian force there, the Iranian supported force there. Iran is moving on many fronts. The Russians are moving on many fronts. Unfortunately, Americans, we take one thing at a time. The fact the Russians and the Iranians, al-Qaeda and all their affiliates, they move on many fronts and they never stop. We think we can get back to our normal lives going to breakfast and dinners, and little league games, and watching the Super Bowl, but the fact is these people do nothing but try and plot against us and we have to keep that in mind.' Curbing global warming by shading Earth from the sun could be quick and cheap but also "irrational and irresponsible" without also cutting emissions and capturing carbon, says a report on geoengineering by the US National Academies. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. You'd better just sit back and let your moral betters figure it all out.
In theory, making Earth more reflective to the sun's rays -- called albedo modification -- could be done relatively easily with existing technology, says the report. In 1991, emissions of just 20 million tonnes of sulphur dioxide from the eruption of Mount Pinatubo in the Philippines reduced global temperatures by 0.3°C for three years. A similar human exercise to curb the warming from a doubling of carbon dioxide concentrations in the air would be "at least an order of magnitude less than the cost of decarbonising the world's economy", the report says. What did they just say?
But sending mirrors into space or putting sulphur dioxide in the stratosphere could have "unanticipated, unmanageable and regrettable consequences" on the global climate, it says. Other impacts of carbon emissions, such as ocean acidification, would continue and if the techniques were ever stopped, rapidly soaring temperatures could have cataclysmic consequences. So don't stop. Cheez, I have to come up with everything around here...
"Ideas to lessen the amount of energy absorbed from the sun should not be considered for deployment," says the president of the National Academy of Sciences. Nonetheless, the authors conclude that the techniques should be researched â not least so the world could respond if a climate vigilante were to carry out "an unsanctioned act of albedo modification". Climate vigilantes? How is that different from Michael Mann?

Now me, every time I look at a map of the world I notice those great aching empty spaces in Canada and Alaska. Not to mention N. Dakota and Nebraska, Finland and Sweden. Plus the great sweeps of Siberia. Empty real estate, all too cold to live in.
If you ask me, a bit of global warming is just what the world needs. The climate activists should be up there spreading coal dust on the ice fields on northern Canada, and the ice pack of the north pole. Speed this whole thing up a bit! :-)

[DAWN] LAHORE: A young man was killed while another three were maimed on Saturday when their speeding car collided with a tree near Moslem Town.
Moslem Town Station House Officer Sheikh Abid told Dawn that four youths were celebrating Valentine's Day by doing stunts in a car. The driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a turn on Canal Road near Moslem Town and it collided with a roadside tree.
The SHO said Akash, 27, was struck down in his prime while Lal Bakhsh, 25, of Rawalpindi, Junaid Saleem and Tayyab Butt of Iqbal Town were shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
