A suspected radical atheist is in police custody after allegedly murdering three young Muslims in the North Carolina college town of Chapel Hill, media reports indicate.
According to the British newspaper the Independent, the three Muslims, who were all from the same family, were in their home when a 46-year-old man identified by police as Craig Stephen Hicks gunned them down. Too bad he isn't a Christian (or a Jew), we could have a real celebration.

Interesting that it made the international news -- plays into the idea that Americans are all armed madmen, prejudiced and ready to kill at the slightest provocation.
I wonder what will later come out about the victims? I am already reading that the young do-gooder killed by ISIS was married off to an ISIS emir, and in previous adventures in the Palestinian territories was an avid follower of St. Pancake the Joo-hater. There is no privacy on the internet...
[PJMedia] Craig Stephen Hicks, 46, has been charged in the execution-style murder of newlyweds, bride's sister.
PJ Media covers the original story of the murder, the anti-religious and Progressive leanings of the killer as evidenced by his Facebook postings, the Twitter discussions that have resulted... and the key fact that the murders may have resulted from a parking dispute, which is why this posted in P.3: Lurid Crime Tales rather than P.1: Home Front -- WoT. Now you have the facts, dear Reader, as you turn to face your email inbox, Facebook, and the water cooler crowd.

[Ynet] Egypt's president says Egypt and Russia have agreed to build a nuclear power plant together and that officials from both countries have signed a memorandum of understanding on the project.
Oh goody -- that's sure to go well. How long until various bits are held together by duct tape, bailing wire, and Allah's changeable will, gaping holes in the floor are covered by cardboard, and workers wear safety equipment only because they've been told it prevents sterility? Rebel commanders have reinforced the blocking position at a key point north of Debaltsevo with additional infantry and armor, but the Ukrainian Army is preparing a counterattack from the north, according to data supplied by Russian language news publications and other sources.
Since the February 9th coup de main which ended with Logvinova in rebel hands, rebel commanders have started to send additional troops into the blocking position to further reinforce the ring around Debaltesevo.
Rebel estimates on the number of troops inside the Debaltsevo cauldron range from 4,000 to 8,000 troops. The formations inside the pocket are varied and have been identified by rebel media and others.
They include battalion tactical groups of the Ukrainian 25th, 30th, 92nd, 95th and 128th Brigades, elements of the Ukrainian 26th, 27th and 44th Artillery Brigades, elements of the Ukrainian 2nd National Guard Brigade, the Ukrainian 13th, 25th and 40th Territorial Battalions, and parts of the "Donbass-1" "Aydar" Territorial Battalions.
Forces inside the cauldron are facing as many as 10,000 rebel troops.
On the east, or Lugansk side, rebel units being pushed into the battle include two mechanized rifle battalions, one tank battalion and one artillery brigade (probably in fact a separate artillery regiment with 20 tubes and/or launchers), the "August" Separate Mechanized Battalion and elements of the Forces Artillery Brigade. The force manpower totals include 3,000 effectives, 35 tanks and an undisclosed number of artillery tubes and launchers, numbering more that 24.
On the west side, forces involved in the fighting include the Donetsk 3rd Mechanized and 7th Army Brigades, and one "Special Purpose Artillery Brigade", totaling between 6,000 and 7,000 effectives.
According to rebel videos and online publications, rebel commanders sent elements of the Donetsk 3rd Mechanized Brigade near Logvinova with the intent of rotating units in and out of those positions, and probably to set up switchlines for rapid reaction forces. The units sent indicated they were close enough to the units at Logvinova that they could see those units from their own positions.
The video showed a light infantry platoon armed with Shmel fuel air explosive rocket launchers and disposable RPG-18s moving toward those blocking positions and digging trenches.
According to Ukrainian military journalist Dmitri Tymchuk, rebel commanders have moved a number of supply and combat vehicles into the Debaltsevo area of operations on the west side including 15 tanks and 10 armored fighting vehicles, 2 batteries (8 guns total) of MT-12 "Rapira" 100mm antitank guns and four rocket artillery launchers.
Tymchuk said that since Friday rebels have moved 60 covered supply trucks and 50 armored vehicles into the Debaltsevo area of operations.
Tymchuk said that on the east side rebels have moved into the area of operations 15 tanks, 60 armored fighting vehicles and 20 specialized vehicles.
According to Rustoday.info, Donetsk defense ministry spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin addressed the possibility of a Ukrainian counteroffensive near Donetsk city, indicating that Ukrainian commanders are concentrating forces northwest of the city near Avdievka, Novoselovka and Orlovka, moving in four battalions of tactical groups from the Ukrainian 28th, 30th and 93rd Motorized Rifle Brigades.

I believe they will come to an agreement in Minsk. The conflict is starting to seriously hurt Moscow economically and the dreams of a "New Russia" between Odessa and Lugansk have vanished. Only massive regular Russian troops would be able to conquer this stretch of land, but Russia would pay with bankrupcy and the oligarchs will not allow that.
It's all about saving face now.

I remain not worried about a US-Russia = Obama-Putin war.
Putin's actions are geared toward preempting or preventing any Islamist or Hard Boy destabilization of the Caucasus + Turkey + Slavic Europe, + espec keeping Russian BFF + strategic partner Germany controlled + widout Nukes.
IMO one can make a good argument that Putin is treating post-Crimea Ukraine as "GERMANY WIDOUT THE GERMANS/PRUSSIANS". In Putin's mind, the Hard Boy threat is IMMEDIATE, whilst the threat ofa RE-ARMED, RE-MILITARIZED, GEOPOL-AGGRESSIVE NUKE-ARMED GERMANY is FUTURIST.
IMO again Vlad covertly wants a NATO-EU military buildup along its borders + NATO-EU involvement wid Kiev, as a NATO-EU BUILDUP, ETC. = RUSSIAN COUNTER-BUILDUP = GERMANY "STATUS QUO", NO NEO-OTTOMAN TURKEY, + NO [major] ISLAMIST MILTERR THREAT TO RUSSIA OR -STANS.
Methinks Vlad recognizes that a major or dedicated Hard Boy MilTerr campaign agz Russia, or even agz China + India, throws a world-destabilizing monkeywrench into everything.

Brian's estimated net worth is $40 Million Dollars, he and his family are not going to starve, 6 months salary, nice to have but really his credibility is totally shot. I wouldn't trust him to answer my phone. You are retired Brian, get use to it.

Child abuse, substance abuse, excessive wanking... he'll soon be checking into rehab for some causative issue. None of this will be his fault in the end.

6 months sabbatical is hardly punishment. It just means NBC has a chance to determine if his replacement is working out by then, if not Brian can return to save the day.
Personally I think we might see the end of big three network news. Perception of credibility was the last thing they had going for them. Might as ewll go for 24/7 cable news now.

[INSIDER.FOXNEWS] A Brown University student wrote a controversial column last week in the school newspaper, The Brown Daily Herald, in which he called ROTC an "organization of criminals" and "state-sanctioned violence."
Peter Makhlouf wrote, "It seems that ROTC's attempt to recruit academically elite students is a calculated attempt to rope the best and brightest into the industry of state-sanctioned violence. By outlawing ROTC and its byproducts on our campus, we have the opportunity to maintain and strengthen a tradition of refusing to capitulate to the increasing demands of military engagement in today's global agenda ... the thought of extending the poisonous branches of the armed services to our campus should be wholly denounced."
Eric Bolling pointed out on "Fox and Friends" that the only reason Makhlouf has the freedom to write that column is because of a strong military that defends his freedom of speech.
"You couldn't say those things - anti-government comments or anti-military comments - in Iran. You couldn't say it in Syria. You couldn't say it throughout much of the Moslem bad boy areas of the world because you would be killed for it or you'd be tossed in the slammer Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw! for it," Bolling said.
"Thank God for the ROTC, thank God for the military, thank God people are willing to risk their lives, so that you can be such a jerk and say stupid things like that."

State Sanctioned Violence on the record since the Pharaoh. Either you ride the tiger or the tiger eats you, cause the other guy is going to do it. It's called territorial imperative. It's just not reserved for the 'State', just ask in any 'hood. BTW Sunshine, you notice that cops pack heat.

My understanding is that if a university accepts federal funds they must also accept the ROTC program. So, I feel sure higher tuition rates would result if ROTC were to be "expelled".
