[KhaamaPress] According to sources, the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... detained a group of women in the Khair Khana area on Sunday.
Sources said that the Taliban’s Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice officials have detained and imprisoned dozens of women and girls in Kabul, citing the reason as "non-compliance with Taliban’s dress code."
The group arrested several women along the route from the Parwan Hotel to Gola-e-Park using a Ranger vehicle.
Meanwhile, ...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face... reports say that earlier on the same day, the Taliban had detained a group of girls and women in the Taimani area of Kabul.
In recent days, the Taliban’s Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has initiated a new wave of detentions of girls and women in various areas of Kabul.
Earlier, the group detained several girls and women in the western area of Kabul, including Dasht-e-Barchi, due to their hijab and clothing.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice had previously confirmed to the media that they had detained some women in western Kabul on charges of "improper dressing." However, it was a brave man who first ate an oyster... they did not specify the exact number of detainees.
There have been reports indicating that the group is detaining more women in different areas of Kabul.
Some sources in Kabul have mentioned that when the family members of the detained girls in western Kabul approached Taliban offices, they were asked to demonstrate against supporting the hijab that the Taliban had in mind. After being coerced into protests, they demanded the release of the detainees, but Taliban officials refused to free them.
Taliban arrest women for ‘Bad Hijab’ in Afghanistan, sparking fear and outrage
January 6, 2024
[KhaamaPress] At least a week ago, authorities from the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, in coordination with intelligence forces and security agencies, have been detaining girls in some regions of Kabul due to what is referred to as “bad hijab” or “non-observance of Islamic dress code.” According to the girls, this action has sparked widespread reactions and instilled fear.
So this has been going on for a while, while we were distracted elsewhere.
Mullah Abdulghaffar Farooq, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, stated to the media that these detentions were carried out to prevent “vice” and prevent bad hijab, leading to the detention of several girls.
The recent detentions of girls and women in western Kabul have been prominent in the past two to three days. Reports indicate that more than a dozen girls were transferred to security agencies due to inadequate hijab. Most of these detentions have been reported in areas of Dasht-e-Barchi, Pol-e Khoshk, Qalai-e Naw, and Pol-e Sukhta.
The continuation of these detentions has raised serious concerns among the girls in these areas. Mezhgan, one of the detained girls, told Khama Press that the authorities took her from the market, and she spent a day in detention.
Mezhgan described her detention: “My sister and I went out to buy something from our house. When we entered the market, there was a commotion as the forces of the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice arrived, and young girls and teenagers were desperately looking for a place to hide.”
She added, “My sister and I entered a shop, and from the window, I saw several men in white clothes instructing some ladies who were wearing full black attire and had sunglasses on to get on a vehicle. The black-clad ladies forcefully placed the girls on the vehicle using electric shocks.”
Mezhgan further mentioned that when she tried to record these moments with her mobile phone, she was also detained and had her phone confiscated.
Sahar, living in western Kabul, said, “I study in a girls’ school, and when I came out of the school, the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice forces wanted to detain me, but I resisted.”
Sahar added that she now refrains from going to school out of fear of being detained.
Sources in Kabul’s Taimani district claim that the authorities from the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice have detained several girls, even though they were wearing appropriate hijab, allegedly because they possessed “smartphones or cameras.”
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice of Taliban, however, states that female police officers are present during detentions, and no harm comes to the girls.
These detentions due to non-compliance with hijab have faced criticism from human rights organizations and UN experts. Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Afghanistan, wrote on his Twitter page that detaining girls for “bad hijab” restricts women’s freedom of expression.
Mr. Bennett has called on the Taliban administration to release the detained girls unconditionally.
Amnesty International has also expressed concern about the detention of girls in Kabul, stating, “The Taliban’s arbitrary detentions and crackdowns violate women’s freedom of movement and expression in Afghanistan. Suppression must cease immediately, and those detained must be released.”
Naseer Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan’s interim representative to the United Nations, regarding the detention of girls, emphasizes that no government has previously attacked the culture and way of life of its people. He adds that people in Afghanistan currently lack mental security and peace.
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... ese army and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North (SPLA-N) led by Abdulaziz al-Hilu on Monday clashed with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Dilling, the second-largest city in South Kordofan.
The SPLM-N forces reportedly gained complete control of the city, prompting accusations that the army had handed over Dilling to the SPLM-N in a secret alliance to counter the RSF.
The official site of the Federal Ministry of Information confirmed the festivities, stating that the army and the SPLM-N in the Nuba Mountains had repelled an attack by the RSF and attacked some areas where the assailants were based.
According to witnesses, the RSF targeted residential areas in the al-Quz, al-Matar, and Abu Zaid neighbourhoods of al-Hawazma with heavy shelling, causing widespread damage and displacing residents.
The Ministry of Information emphasized that the joint forces had not engaged in any attacks on civilians or property and that the police and security services were maintaining order in the city.
In a related development, Sudanese army warplanes conducted Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s on the al-Dabaibat area of the al-Quz locality, located 56 kilometres north of Dilling, for the second time in less than a week, targeting a former RSF camp.
The airstrikes reportedly destroyed the camp and disrupted a convoy of RSF vehicles heading towards Dilling.
[SUDANTRIBUNE] In a significant development in South Kordofan state, SPLM-N forces, led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu, have taken full control of Dilling, one of the largest cities in the state. This follows reports of a deal between the SPLM-N and the Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. Meanwhile, ...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his leg. Son of a Breech! he exclaimed with feeling...... the RSF has accused both the Sudanese army and the SPLM-N of committing widespread abuses against Arab ethnic groups in the area and liquidating their members within the army on allegations they were co-conspirators with the paramilitary forces.
Video footage circulating on social media on Sunday showed large numbers of SPLM-N soldiers, accompanied by Sudanese army soldiers, celebrating their arrival in Dilling with the residents.
One Arab Hawazma leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Sudan Tribune that members of the Sudanese Armed Forces had handed over Dilling to the SPLM-N forces after they allied to fight the RSF and all Arab tribes.
The local leader further accused Military Intelligence of planning to ignite an ethnic war in South Kordofan state due to the liquidations of several members of Arab tribes within the armed forces.
Tribal tensions between the Nuba and Hawazma groups in the region have pushed several officers and soldiers of the Sudanese army belonging to the local Arab group to flee the Dilling garrison following their targeting by their colleagues.
In a widely circulated video, the second commander of the Dilling garrison emphasized that the armed forces are a national institution representing all Sudanese people, and targeting specific groups based on ethnicity is unacceptable. He stated that this has instilled fear among some military personnel and led to a large number of soldiers deserting the army.
He continued, "We must only raise the gun against the enemy. We have reached the point where some fear being killed because they do not belong to the Nuba. This is unacceptable."

More confusion: In July 2023 the SPLM-N (al-Hilu element) seized several army garrisons and an oil field in South Kordofan. It was speculated (but still questionable) that al-Hilu formed an alliance with the rebel RSF. The problem exists that the SPLM-N has broken into two factions. Apparently, the al-Hilu element is on top and the Sudan Military are trying to break bread with his opponent. The ethnic Nuba (both Christian and Arab) of the Nuba Mts. and South Kordofan have no love for the Khartoum government. and while seeking to avoid entanglements will probably join the RSF now that the Khartoum government seems to have lost the South Kordofan province.
It has been months since Khartoum could claim any sort of political or military victory. Another six months and the former Republic of the Sudan will have either disappeared or will be re-created to the detriment of the Arab side.

"If you really care about the lives lost here... you should call for a ceasefire in Paleostine," a woman in the crowd could be heard interrupting the US president.
Unfazed by chants of "ceasefire now" that erupted from the crowd, Biden responded: "I understand their passion, and I’ve been quietly working with the Israeli government to get them to reduce and significantly get out of Gaza."
"I’ve been using all that I can to do that," he added.
The congregation at the Mother Emanuel African Methodist Church then drowned out the noise of the demonstration by chanting, "Four more years!" to back Biden’s campaign for a second term in office.

Yesterday only more than 130 arrests were reported. 325 is a much happier number. The Daily Mail has lots of photos plus video taken by the furious father as he walked up to the protesters, but unfortunately not of him driving menacingly toward them.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A furious father was caught on camera confronting pro-Palestinian protesters blocking Williamsburg Bridge as he desperately tried to get home to his daughter.
New York was besieged by hundreds of demonstrators who blocked all major vehicle routes in and out of the city for more than an hour on Monday - leading to 325 arrests across the Big Apple.
The coordinated action hit the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and Holland Tunnel, stopping traffic out of Manhattan.
One man trapped on the Williamsburg Bridge lost his patience when masked protesters stood in front of his Honda SUV and refused to let him pass.

He first yelled at a woman in a hi-vis vest who appeared to be organizing the obstruction, as she appeared to be trying to calm him down.
'You're disrupting traffic, idiots. You can't do that, that's against the law,' he shouted, then gave up and got out of the car to confront them directly.
'I'm gonna have to start throwing fists at y'all, I'm not gonna run you over... get away from my car.'
The man shoved three male protesters standing directly in front of his car, pushing one of them a second time when he moved back in place.
The hi-vis woman tried to defuse the situation as the man stopped pushing and screamed: 'Get away from my car, I have a daughter in Brooklyn.'
NYPD Chief John Chell said 325 people were arrested on Monday after blocking the bridges about 9.40am, until they were cleared out by 11.15am.
'In lieu of summons, many protestors will face misdemeanor charges with a desk appearance ticket,' he said.
That’ll make them change their behaviour, fer shur.

The targets struck by fighter jets in the last day were "significant," the IDF said on Monday morning, adding that their destruction will "help the forces that are maneuvering in the area to continue fighting." According to the military, the targets included underground sites, weapons depots and other infrastructure belonging to the terror group.
In recent days, the infantry division of the 7th Armored Brigade successfully uncovered a tunnel shaft next to a school in Khan Younis, as well as other pieces of terror-related infrastructure in residential neighborhoods, the IDF revealed on Monday.
During an expanded maneuver inside the dense southern Gaza city, troops of the 7th Armored Brigade uncovered explosives, guns, grenades, radio devices and intelligence documents in offices and infrastructure located next to civilian homes, the military said.
After discovering a tunnel shaft next to a school in the same area, the army said troops uncovered toy Kalashnikov guns and photos documenting the weapons training that children at the school had been made to undergo.
During the operation, several RPG missiles were fired at the troops, who in response directed tank fire and an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... at the terror cell responsible, the IDF added.
Elsewhere in Khan Younis, ground troops engaged in battles with snuffies embedded in the city, directing dronezaps against targets as fighter jets operated overhead, the IDF said.
Troops from the Maglan commando unit spotted a group of more than 10 Hamas operatives at a rocket launching site inside Khan Younis and directed a dronezap against them, while the Paratroopers Brigade spotted a Hamas operative in a building and directed an airstrike against it. A short while later another operative was spotted in the building, and was killed by the troops, the military added.
In addition, troops of the 55th Reserve Paratroops Brigade identified a Hamas operative coming out of a building while "collecting intelligence on the force," the IDF said, and confirmed that an attack helicopter struck the operative a short while later.
Troops operating across the Gaza Strip uncovered vast amounts of weapons belonging to Hamas throughout the night.
In central Gaza, the IDF said reservists of the 179th Armored Brigade located a tunnel shaft, and found in it thousands of dollars and weapons, and in the Maghazi area of central Gaza, the IDF said Golani troops directed an airstrike on a Hamas weapons depot, where the terror group stored long-range rockets.
Meanwhile, ...back at the palazzo, Count Guido stepped from behind the suit of armor, rapier in hand. Ciccolini snarled and reached for his own weapon... troops of the Kfir Brigade located a car being used by Hamas operatives that contained weapons as well.
Amid the fighting in central and south Gaza, 73 people were reported by the Hamas-run health ministry to have been killed by Israeli forces and airstrikes in the past 24 hours, and an additional 99 were said to have been injured.
The number included eight people killed in an apparent strike near Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, the health ministry said, although the IDF did not immediately comment on the strike.
[IsraelTimes] Trio detained by security forces in Ramallah area, said to admit involvement in attack that killed East Jerusalem Paleostinian
Two Paleostinian doctors and a nurse from the West Bank were identified Monday as the suspects in a deadly shooting the day before that killed an East Jerusalem Paleostinian man and seriously injured a woman. "First, do no harm"
Officers in the police’s Yamam counterterrorism unit arrested the three suspects overnight, security officials said Monday.
In a joint statement, the police, Shin Bet, and Israel Defense Forces said the trio were detained some 15 hours after the attack on Route 465, near the West Bank settlement of Ateret.
Two of the suspects were detained in Ramallah, and the third was nabbed in the nearby Jalazone refugee camp, the statement said.
Hebrew media, citing Paleostinian reports, identified them as Issar Barghouti, an anesthesiologist from Bayt Rima near Ramallah, Khaled al-Harouf, also a medical doctor, and Morid al-Atar from ’Atara, who worked as a nurse.
Israeli security officials are still assessing that the shooting was carried out with nationalist motives, meaning it is considered a terror attack, the Ynet outlet reported.
Officials said the three "implicated themselves" in the attack in preliminary interrogation. They were handed over for interrogation to the Shin Bet security service.
Amar Mansour, a 33-year-old resident and father of two from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Beit Hanina, was killed in the Sunday shooting.

[IsraelTimes] Multiple sites along and beneath Strip’s Salah a-Din main highway in Bureij used by terror group to manufacture rocket fuel, explosives, projectiles’ bodies, and store them
Along and beneath the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip’s main north-south highway, the Israel Defense Forces on Monday revealed where the Hamas ...not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,... terror group manufactured its long-range rockets that have been used to attack Israeli cities in recent years.
Troops of the 188th Armored Brigade and Golani Infantry Brigade operating in the Bureij camp of central Gaza in recent weeks discovered what the IDF has described as a "terror stronghold of weapons production."
According to the IDF, the Hamas sites, along a kilometer and a half (1 mile) of Salah a-Din road in Bureij, represent the largest rocket manufacturing plant found so far in the Strip.
Media outlets, including The Times of Israel, were given a tour of several of the facilities on Monday, from an underground rocket engine production lab to a warehouse where the body tubes of the projectiles were built, to a storage facility.
All of the sites were located within the vicinity of Salah a-Din, which had been used in the early stages of the war as a humanitarian route for Paleostinians to flee from northern Gaza to its south.
Col. Or Vollozinsky, the commander of the 188th Brigade, said the area was "a chain of terror factories... on the main road, and under the homes of civilians."
Around a dozen tunnel entrances were found in the area, along with the headquarters of Hamas’s al-Bureij Battalion, which Vollozinsky’s forces recently captured.
Inside a seemingly unremarkable building in the area, the soldiers found what appeared to be a waiting room with couches and a bathroom, and in the next room was a staircase leading down into a tunnel.
Inside the tunnel, which goes down some 20 meters, forces found a large chemicals lab used to manufacture explosives and rocket engines, according to Vollozinsky.
Pointing to a bag containing a chemical used by Hamas to manufacture rocket fuel, Vollozinsky said troops found hundreds of similar bags inside the underground lab, where Hamas made "a lot of explosives for the rockets for flight into Israel."
He said that the underground lab also led to the other tunnels they had discovered in the area, and that the site was likely built over several years. "To build such a factory takes a lot of time; [Hamas] managed to maintain this achievement for a long time," Vollozinsky said.
Asked whether the IDF had intelligence on the site before the ground operation, Vollozinsky told The Times of Israel that forces had information about the general area, but not the exact location. Til Mahmoud The Weasel squealed
"To find the tunnels, you need to do a bit of work, but we are experienced after three months, and we know where to look. We got information on a strategic Hamas factory in the area," he said.
The next site journalists were allowed to tour was a warehouse with several lathes and other heavy machinery, used by Hamas to build the long-range rockets, as well as other munitions, including mortars and bombs.
Inside the warehouse was yet another tunnel shaft, this one much deeper and with an elevator. According to the IDF, the tunnel connected to a large underground network, which was used by Hamas to distribute its weapons to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
The last site the IDF allowed news hounds to view was an above-ground and underground long-range rocket depot, where the fully built projectiles had been stored.
Numerous rockets, with ranges of 120 kilometers (75 miles) — enough to reach all of central Israel — were found stacked inside the structure.
Adjacent to the rockets was an unusually large tunnel entrance, which military officials explained was to enable the massive rockets to be stored beneath the ground.
The commander of the Golani Brigade, Col. Yair Palai, whose forces were involved in uncovering the Hamas rocket production facilities, said the IDF was already in the process of demolishing all of the sites.
"You can see here the importance of the [ground] maneuver," Palai said. "This is something you need to reach, to enter, understand what is going on, and blow it up completely, make sure nothing is left — not a rocket that can reach [Kibbutz] Kfar Aza [near the Gaza border], and not a rocket that can reach Tel Aviv or any other place."
Palai said there still may be rocket fire at Israel even as troops defeat Hamas battalions, "but us arriving here, dealing with these lathes, weapons factories, and destroying them is critically important."

The footage, aired on Israel’s Channel 12, depicts more than a dozen men handcuffed and stripped down to their underwear surrounded by Israel Defense Forces who have taken northern Gaza, The Times of Israel reported Monday.
One of the men can be heard yelling that his people have lived "under tyranny" for 17 years, appearing to refer to the Hamas election in Gaza in 2006, as he reiterated that he and the other detainees were innocent and waiting for Israel to save them.
"When you arrived, we remained in our homes because we live in peace and love peace!" the man yelled. "If we were guilty of something, we would have left our homes and fled, but we live in our homes in peace!
"I swear to God, we waited for you to free us from tyranny!" he added.
Palestinians waiting for Israel to free them — a paradigm shift, to be sure.
He went on to talk about the war’s effect on Gaza’s civilians, stating that their families have gone hungry for too long, with some succumbing to the lack of food and others growing increasingly sick.
"Our wives have started eating scraps. Our children have died in front of our eyes due to hunger," he said. "There’s no water. I’m sick, and I cannot get any medical care.
"You know what the situation is like in Gaza. Everything has turned upside down on us," the man added.
When the Israeli soldiers filming the scene asked the Paleostinians whose fault it is that Gaza is in such a state, the men yelled back, "Because of Hamas! Because of Hamas!"
"May Allah take Dire Revenge on Hamas!" the men shouted.
It was not immediately clear if the men shown in the video were part of the more than 100 people arrested in northern Gaza last month who were featured in similar videos and photos of the IDF’s advancements in the area.

Hamas was the brainchild of Gaza resident and paraplegic Sheikh Yassin, and it was backed by the international Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan). The Ikhwan was founded in Egypt, exiled, re-formed in Europe, and received funding through a variety of sources. The Ihkhwan funded Hamas, but after it achieved victory at the ballot box, Hamas turned to Qatar and Iran for funding. The latter became the more powerful presence in Gaza (where about half of all adult males are unemployed). Simply put, Gaza survived thanks in large part to UN largess (UNRWA) and American foreign aid. When this invasionis over it will be re-built by the same two -- if the Democrats are in power in Washington.

"it's not a war crime when Israel does it." There it is@again@
Must be a conspiracy theory. Probably involving space lasers forcing us to see this happening over and over.

One trait of the Wokerati that is both amusing and annoying is their ability to sniff out any outrage, however slight, and at the same time be completely oblivious to any context whatsoever. I am generally opposed to punching people in the nose. But if someone were trying to stab me, I might make an exception. Everything is a situation.
There is no question that Gaza is a human tragedy, but those Israeli airstrikes didn't just fall out of the sky, if you get my drift. Gaza has been a dumpster fire for decades. With proper management and an ongoing influx of funds, it could have continued to be an annoyance to the Israelis on into the future. But Hamas upped the ante and made it existential.
On National People's Radio a couple weeks back, much to my astonishment, they ran an interview with a Gazan woman who was royally pissed at Yaya Sinwar (sp?). She was speaking Arabic, but even without the translator, you got the drift: the mother*bleep*er Yaya Sinwar who brought this down on our heads is off hiding somewhere while we pay the price with our children and homes. (I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of it) Surprising content for NPR given their daily Tragedy in Gaza theme.
[Rudaw] A suspected leader of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) was killed on Monday in an airdrop operation carried out by the US-led coalition in eastern Syria, a war monitor reported.
The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) confirmed on Monday that ISIS leader Mohammed Atiyah, known as Abu Mahmoud, was killed after he clashed with the SDF and the global coalition forces during a joint security operation in the al-Jurzy town in Deir ez-Zor.
The operation was carried out in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province on a house where the leader lived, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a Britannia-based war monitor. He held Iraqi nationality.
"The commander showed resistance when coalition forces tried to arrest him, which led to an exchange of fire and his death," SOHR said.
