Haftar holds talks with representatives of Libyan Toubou |

[LIBYAUPDATE] Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), met today with representatives of Libyan Toubou at the LNA’s main headquarters in Benghazi. According to a statement by the LNA’s media office, Haftar thanked the representatives for their visit, and commended Toubou people, whom he described as "an important part of the Libyan social fabric", for their courage and role in combatting terrorism alongside LNA forcers, For their part, the delegation renewed their commitment to the unity and stability of Libya, and "their full support for the national project of the General Command of the Libyan Armed Forces." #1 The Toubou seemingly live to fight. Historically, they served as the bodyguard for the last Libyan king. Expelled, they then fought Qadafi (with the support of US military in an unknown war) as he tried to impose his rule on the Libya-Chad borderland. (See book, Africa's Thirty Years' War) |
