As one of the soldiers betrayed by GEN(R) Petraeus actions, I hope that he is not selected and is allowed to retire in peace. We looked up to him and he let us down...he preached our values, but wouldn't live by them.
Ole Dave's lack of character, loyalty, and just plain weirdness at the end disqualifies him.
The Dems would love a guy with these baked in weaknesses to serve in the administration...a conviction for mishandling classified info and severe character flaws. Not sure what our upside is if appointed.

If CNN likes it, it ought to be a warning to Trump.

If Petraeus were to be tapped for the job, from Day One he would be one of the most well-informed and well-qualified secretaries of state in the post-World War II era.
The author was apparently not thinking about our present and former SoS, who were judged to be well-qualified by the Smartest Man in the Room and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

the greatest foreign policy problem the Trump administration will inherit, which is the Syrian civil war.
Self-inflicted wound like the Spanish Ulcer suffered by Napoleon Bonaparte. What, pray tell, is our Objective in Syria?

A multi-volume chronology and reference guide set detailing three years of the Mexican Drug War between 2010 and 2012.
Rantburg.com and borderlandbeat.com correspondent and author Chris Covert presents his first non-fiction work detailing
the drug and gang related violence in Mexico.
Chris gives us Mexican press dispatches of drug and gang war violence
over three years, presented in a multi volume set intended to chronicle the death, violence and mayhem which has
dominated Mexico for six years.
Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
