  • Shahram Poursafi, a member of Iran's military, was named as the mastermind

  • Poursafi is also accused of putting a $1M bounty on Mike Pompeo's head

  • Meanwhile, Khalid Mehdiyev was indicted on Thursday in a separate incident

  • He is accused of threatening an Iranian dissident in Brooklyn with an AK-47

  • On Friday, author Salman Rushdie was stabbed in upstate New York

  • He has been under death threat from Tehran for the past three decades
