Salman Rushdie Stabbed in NY at literary event

[NYPost] ... Salman Rushdie, whose work has earned him death threats, was attacked at a literary event in upstate New York Friday, when an assailant stormed the stage soon after his introduction.

The man proceeded to punch or stab Rushdie, who was scheduled to talk at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, N.Y., some 75 miles south of Buffalo.

Police identified the attacker as Hadi Matar, 24, of Fairview, New Jersey. He was arrested at the scene and was awaiting arraignment. State police Major Eugene J. Staniszewski said the motive for the stabbing was unclear.

State police said Rushdie was apparently stabbed in the neck. Gov. Kathy Hochul said later that he was alive and “getting the care he needs.”

#8 Fatwas never really pay. They screw the guy and his family out of the reward every time. Like, every. Time. Usually it's by stating we had redacted our fatwa long ago in a ...uhh... closed door meeting with Allan. Sometimes the lawyers hired to defend the summbitch keeps demanding fees for this and that, and they tell his family the legal process is just taking a lot more moolah than even the reward!

In the end, they never get anything. They're just told they did a great thing for Allan and should be happy for that.
