Will Smith-Chris Rock slap at Oscars was staged
Speculation from a pro.
[NYPost] Ric Flair thought the kerfuffle of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock was a work.

That’s the term in Flair’s world of pro wrestling, when the violence is scripted. Flair and his longtime friend Mike Tyson spoke to The Post to promote Tyson 2.0, the cannabis business they’re partnering in, and covered a wide range of other topics like his daughter Charlotte Flair’s success in WWE, Hulk Hogan’s proclamation that Flair was the greatest wrestler of all-time and the Oscars’ moment that will live in infamy.

“I didn’t think it was real,” Flair said of the Smith slap.

Tyson chimed in: “If Ric says it’s a fake, then it’s a fake.”

Credit to Will for using Chris Rock in front of hundreds and without raycism involved.

It is Hollywood...
I don't care what they do for Camera FaceTime for Free PR. They are Actors / Performers and their whole life is an ACT.

#5 It is Hollywood... and they are in the business of faking things, so we cannot tell by looking at the event unless it was done so badly as to be obvious. (see Juicy Smollett)

However, we can look at the effects: who benefits?

Will Smith: Does this help his career? I'd say no. He looks like the stereotypical angry prone-to-violence black guy, his marital 'issues' are paraded in public, his good-guy movie image takes a hit, and he is out of the Academy. Sounds negative to me.

The Academy Awards: Hollywood loves drama. Lately, ratings for the Academy Awards have been in the dumpster. A little drama might perk things up. "Let's watch and see what a bunch of coked-up actors do this year!" That is a plus, but the cost is losing a known star and the box office revenue he generates.

Seems to me Will takes a bigger hit than the Awards show gains. But maybe they playing the long game with a fall-and-redemption story arc.

tl;dr: Is it fake or does Will Smith just slap like a girl?

Now I'd like to see Terry Crews slap somebody. Somebody like say Dave Chappelle. But Crews is such a nice guy I can't imagine him doing such a thing.

#14 QUESTION ASKED: "Will Smith: Does this help his career..."

If he is trying to land a role as a billy-bad-ass character in this next movie. It could help him in getting more $$$$$$.

OR

Maybe to deflect from the bad press that his Paramount backers just are announcing that 2 weeks ago, they pulled "Bounce" a movie from production.

#16 Will Smith is, I think, one of those people who is in love with their own self image. His self image pre Oscars: tough, smart, beats his enemies at their own game, clean cut, never relies on cheap gimmicks.

This self image was smashed up at the Oscars.
